Neighbours have been lovely and quiet all day, and now they've started banging :( also possibly sanding, or house-training a giant bee.

Go round there in all your pregnant and hormonal glory. Maybe even cry at them.

I keep getting cramps in my bump, like period pains, or like I need a poo, which is scaring nee a bit because SiL keeps saying that I'm not going to last much longer and just before my waters broke with DS I thought I needed a poo. Sorry TMI. But so far everything's ok and bag's packed just incase

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/10/2014 18:30

I'm crampy too Lotsa... It dawned on me today that I don't have a dressing gown yet, and I started panicking about my hospital bag! Major shopping spree required when I get paid!

Peace - I had abit of panic about hospital bag too! Esp after my trio to labour ward during the week. I realised that if Junior did suddenly make an appearance we have nothing organised even though we have lots of stuff. DH would struggle to find anything I needed! So I now have my bags downstairs at least with a few things in them, but a long list of things I now need to dig out/buy and add. The Moses basket is also now downstairs - I now feel abit better about it all!

Also started my first baby clothes wash - some how I have accrued more muslins and newborn -'1 month baby grows than I thought it would be possible to own!! Haha now all I need is the furniture to put it away in - so looks like a trip to IKEA next weekend

Fraggle31 · 26/10/2014 18:48

*trip

LotsaTuddles · 26/10/2014 19:11

I haven't got a dressing gown either, but I didn't have and didn't need one with DS, it was so hot in the hospital, so I'm not taking one. All I've got to pack are pyjamas and a few vest tops , but I can grab them quickly if I need to.

We're such an old married couple, we're in bed now, but in my defence, I feel so crap, and managed to persuade DH that he needs to come and cuddle me to make feel better Grin

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 26/10/2014 19:34

I have three dressing gowns (I kept being given them for Christmas about 10 years ago Hmm) so I've picked the nicest looking one for my emergency hospital bag.

teaandducks · 26/10/2014 20:32

Evening ladies. Also been awol for a while - feel like I've ballooned in the last week and working full shift rota = work, sleep, work, sleep. SO glad down to 3 days/week this week! All this talk of engagement and descent and arrivals is making it all too real. Don't think I'd planned to properly get my head round it til start mat leave but maybe need to get on it!

For those of you who've done NCT can I just ask what they covered on 1st day? we're supposed to be doing the weekend then 2 evenings in couple of weeks but DH broke the news today he won't be able to get the Sat off work. Hmm He has just started and doesn't want to upset the boss but I'm over emotional hormonal and worried he's not going to know whats going on the day. He is v.supportive and says 'it will just come naturally' but when I had to explain to him what a stretch and sweep was he put his head in his hands and said 'no,no,no!' Grin so not totally convinced! I might be over-reacting as there should be NHS antenatal too but no word on when it will be yet from MW team (theyre not superorganised!) so just wondering if your partners found NCT useful or I can just explain it / can catch up the other days?

omama · 26/10/2014 21:20

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

Lotsa - I've been getting a few cramps too. And (tmi) loads of pressure in my bum & pain in my coccyx - its getting uncomfortable to walk. At scan on Fri they said head was low, midwife confirmed it today, head is 2/5 engaged (3/5 palpable) so heading in the right direction - eek!

Fraggle - I've done my whites wash but was waiting for the scan before I dared to wash & detag anything pink! Now I can, so that's my plan for this week once I finish work. Starting to feel major urge to nest & have things organised & clean so getting a bit twitchy that she may arrive a wee bit early.

34+2 and 2 more days to go at work!

Fraggle31 · 26/10/2014 21:33

Omama - my mum keeps reminding me that I was 6 weeks early so I think that's what has kick started my nesting as would mean I only have 3 weeks to go hahaha

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/10/2014 21:38

I've been looking at photos of my younger sister when she was newborn to see what a 10lb baby looks like! Not actually as enormous as I was imagining... Feel like I've got this!

OP posts:
Fraggle31 · 26/10/2014 21:51

10lbs?! eyes water

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/10/2014 22:03

Not listening Fraggle! Lalala...

Fraggle31 · 26/10/2014 22:19

Lol sorry! That wasn't very helpful of me was it?!

All my friends had littlies, I dunno what big newborns look like, so I'm pretending in my head it's not as big as I might think lol

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/10/2014 22:36

It's okay, I'm still 99% holding onto the fact that weight estimates are never usually spot on! Grin

We're almost sort of getting there with nursery/baby organising. Cotbed went up today and bought some of those cheapy plastic drawers so can get the mountains of stuff we've been given all put away.

Think my hospital bag is fairly ready. Couple of bits still to go in, will have to check my lists. Wasn't planning on taking a dressing gown though.

I've been getting cramps today too, of the period/needing a poo variety. They've worried me a little but I think it was just the needing to poo kind

I was born 7 weeks early so at 34 weeks Bubble is already doing better job at staying put. Feeling lots of pressure low down though. I'm still kinda hoping she arrives early rather than late thought. Around 37 or 38 weeks would be grand I reckon

Hugmonster82 · 26/10/2014 22:53

Tea our first NCT class was an all day Saturday one. I'd say that for DH it was 50% useful. We went over the stages of labour, when to go to hospital etc which DH had no clue about so needed to know. I hope by him knowing these things I'll be able to trust his help more on the day. In the afternoon we focused on relaxation techniques, labour positions and massage which I found really helpful but DH thought was a waste of time. I think he'd had enough by that point anyway and wanted to go home to watch football and play computer games! There was one lady on her own as her partner had refused to go so I'm sure it'll be fine for you. Just make sure he know the key points. Hope that helps!

Chipandspuds · 27/10/2014 06:08

I had my antenatal refresher course yesterday...it was supposed to be women only, but apart from one other lady everyone else had brought their partners!

It was good to have the hospital tour again. They've completely redecorated the midwife led unit and they have brand new birthing pools. It wasn't bad before when I had DS but it does look lovely now. I felt quite emotional when I saw the room where I had DS and the room we stayed in overnight (in a happy way) Smile

I really do need to get myself in gear and pack a hospital bag. I also need to check with some neighbours and friends about looking after DS if I go into labour before 39 weeks. I have family staying from 39 weeks onwards so am covered for childcare then.

LotsaTuddles · 27/10/2014 07:37

That's exactly it CatFace, feels really like I need a poo, but seen as I've had quite a few poos over the weekend (sorry TMI) and I'm normally a once every few days kinda person, and I thought DS was a poo just before I went into labour properly, and DS is being very different to normal is all scaring me a bit. But I'm trying not to think about it too much

CatFaceCrayola · 27/10/2014 10:33

I think I'm stressing myself out unnecessarily about it. Sounds silly but I'm really reluctant to ring midwife unit today for reassurance because its DHs birthday and we have various plans. And he'd be most unpleased with a day spent getting checked especially if it ended up being nothing or trapped wind or something stupid!

Bubble is still wriggly so can't be anything too disastrous going on. I'm just being a worrier

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 27/10/2014 11:31

"I thought DS was a poo" Grin omg that has tickled me!! Sorry!!

OP posts:
LotsaTuddles · 27/10/2014 13:07

That's ok Peace it is funny, my DH loves the fact that I thought our son was a poo, he also loves that because I thought he was a poo I was awake and able to get to the toilet when my waters broke (and have my phone on me so I didn't have to shout).

I wouldn't worry too much CatFace, as long as it's not coming and going regularly and you're not feeling tight the whole time you're feeling crampy?

teaandducks · 27/10/2014 13:52

Thanks hugs. There is a bit in the hypno birthing book that suggests practising birth breathing whilst having a poo because it's the only sensation that's vaguely similar! I've interpreted that as pain same as constipation and stopped reading juju sundin chat about dealing with 'horrendous pains'. Sticking with denial!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 27/10/2014 16:46

Crazy painful BH and stitch pain and non-functioning hip meant I had to leave work early. The walk from my shop to the bus stop was the longest I've had to do in a long time! The volunteer I left in charge is a man in his sixties and is awkward at the best of times, so I didn't feel I could explain why I had to go; I sort of just said "can you close? Okay good, bye" Confused
Hurry up, bus, I need to get home!

I've made an official environmental health complaint against my neighbours. I feel so awkward but it's been ten weeks now and I can't put up with it anymore. I hope there's no massive fallout. I was at the end of my tether and had to do something. I suppose at least we're only renting so if they firebomb us we can move..? Confused

Midwife tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it's the nice one!
