Oooh someone pass on my best wishes to her!

First day back at work today and I've already spent ten minutes dry heaving into the toilet Hmm

Partly because I'm yet to do any antenatal stuff, and probably because haven't really had babies around me or had chance to nest yet... I am blissfully naive and only excited that I have a little baby bear inside. I have a feeling labour might beat this silliness out of me ;)

Mega heartburn yesterday, definitely the salad I had with lunch and not the 30 choc digestive biscuits I munched through.

I have finally persuaded hubby to have a day off work so today I'm going to enjoy bossing him around and finishing packing up this flat :)

What's everyone else doing today?

AziziRose · 17/10/2014 08:48

Work is clearly bad for pregnancy! Hope you're day gets better Peace

Hugmonster82 · 17/10/2014 08:55

I've got my welfare scan at the fetal medicine centre today. So excited to see my little one again. Just got to get through a big deadline at work first. No idea how I'm going to be able to concentrate!

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 17/10/2014 09:21

Teaandducks, the safety thing would worry me a bit. Is it painted? If so I think you need to be careful about lead paint too.

teaandducks · 17/10/2014 10:26

Hm thanks pourquoi I'll have a look. My mum said she repainted it for us and would do so again but its something to do with bar width - must have been a baby got stuck at some point! Will look into it...

I was supposed to be picking DH up from airport this morning after a month away but his flight was delayed so missed connection and therefore also midwife this morning Sad Fingers crossed he'll make it today! Extra soppy and emotional - must be the hormones! Also wondering if Im the only one worried I'm not putting on any weight - only half a stone whole preg so far...&all other 30wk bumps seem double size of mine. Midwife says she's not bothered as bump is only 1cm under but I know thats not so accurate and shouldn't have watched that stillbirth programme but will remeasure in 2weeks and add growth scan if needed... She is active and had unofficial scan this wk (by work colleague) that looked fine just worried if I should be more worried! She also said baby would prob have growth spurt as soon as I stop work so maybe will be saying opposite in a few weeks!

Hope welfare scan goes well Hugs. I can't bear the suspense for my proper one in week and half... hopefully time will fly til this aft!

Hugmonster82 · 17/10/2014 10:52

My mum has sanded down my old cot and repainted it for when we go to stay Tea.
I really wouldn't worry too much about weight gain. We're all different and grow at different rates and I'm very jealous you've gained so little! You will probably just be one of those lucky people with a lovely neat bump rather than the huge thing I'm lugging around! Having said that I'm also a worrier and booked the scan I have today as a result of that stillbirth programme. If you're getting another scan anyway I wouldn't worry though.
Hope hubby makes it home soon!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 17/10/2014 11:49

Blimey, sounds like private scans are raking it in after that Panorama programme! I couldn't find that episode on iPlayer. Probably for the best!
Work is horrible. I've worked out I have 14 working days left, though. Nearing 13.5 Grin
Seems there hasn't been much interest in my maternity cover so the deadline has been extended. At this rate I doubt I'll be around to do the handover! (Face? Bothered?)

Hope all scans go well. My next one is in three weeks.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 17/10/2014 11:50

Peace there's no shame in finishing early!Grin

teaandducks · 17/10/2014 13:10

Ha yeah wonder if the private scan company had shares... Will try not to worry about it given stress probably makes things worse!

I'm supposed to be finished in 7 more working days but feels quite early as will only be 32/40 - officially finishing at 39/40 but have had to use up all my A/L prior to finish. Just booked a couple of extra shifts though in my al time as found out house we're trying to buy has asbestos that will need to be removed (bad timing!) and hubby has yet to find a job since we've moved...still hoping it all comes together pre DD! Lucky we're staying at my mums - she's nagging me not to do any extra work but I think I'll feel less stressed with a bit of extra cash and few more shifts than at home wondering how I'm going to pay for asbestos & house removal! How late did you guys work? Don't want to push it too far but its hard to tell at the moment...

teaandducks · 17/10/2014 13:15

you're right though peace - probably best that show's gone off iplayer. I was trying to find ITV life of a baby one instead but its also gone off. One of my friends was telling me about it and how babies can recognise their parents language days after they're born so obviously picking up subtle language differences in utero. DH is bilingual and we really want DD to be so trying to get him to talk to her in both languages! Also went into other life in utero nicer facts about what they get up to in there - apparently if they get used to specific music they'll calm more easily with that music once they come out so pick something you like and can listen to on repeat!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 17/10/2014 15:24

I'm going at 34 weeks, which I thought sounded terribly early, but I am measuring 33 weeks now and I am BROKEN. I'm going to be crawling around rather than walking by the time I actually leave!

Wish I'd just gone for 32 weeks like I originally wanted to.

13 days and 2 hours left to work (this is going to get dull)

OP posts:
CatFaceCrayola · 17/10/2014 15:31

Been to do a little bit of shopping with DH. Really minimal walking involved but just got home and feeling absolutely broken!

Lucy90 · 17/10/2014 15:38

Tea im planning to go at 38 weeks but i can leave earlier if i need to and im cutting down my shifts towards the end

Roonerspism · 17/10/2014 15:46

What - someone had their baby already? Wow. Glad all is ok!

I didn't watch the panorama programme either but am contemplating a late scan, too. It's so expensive! I can't fathom why the UK doesn't want to shrug off its unenviable position of having such a high number of stillbirths :(

I'm planning to work to 38 or even 39 weeks too, only cos our mat pay is crap. My boss is fairly shit and expects me to work full volume too - we are really busy in the team right now and I more than pull my weight so it feels a bit of a thankless task! Enjoy the start of mat leave - it is a blissful time before number one arrives :)

Wow, I've been gone a short while and a baby has been born already! Hope the little one is doing well.
We've had a bit of a time of it back and forth to the hospital. All ok at the moment but he may to arrive a little earlier than his due date of 27th nov. So... Mad panic to get stuff ready now... bags almost packed, nursery not even started :s no matter when he comes I don't think I will feel ready! My body is in peices now tho so lots of tears most days because of the pain so I won't be missing this that's for sure!

Oh I've got the dead arm you guys were talking about ages ago. Joy.

OP posts:
teaandducks · 17/10/2014 18:07

Same peace! The fb ladies tell me it's whooping cough and flu arm is the good one so at least it's for babba- nurse told me they've gone from quite a few whooping cough deaths to zero in newborns since they started giving it so all worth it. She also said see you at the baby clinic which made me feel bit emotional & all too real - still getting head around while birth idea never mind bringing wee one for jabs!! So feel your pain nicky - also nothing organised & I suppose late preg pains are mother natures way of getting is to that 'just get it out' point. Apparently near term some sort of zen I'm ready feelings take over...here's hoping anyway!

Lucy90 · 17/10/2014 18:41

Had a bit of a wobbler this afternoon so OH ran me a bubble bath then painted my toe nails to cheer me up bless him but im sworn to secrecy to never tell anyone Wink

CatFaceCrayola · 17/10/2014 18:41

Back and hips are killing today. We have some friends round for the evening but ive had to skulk off to bed for a bit as I just feel yuck!

I was surprised by the lack of scan after 20 weeks. It would be so nice to see Bubble again and so reassuring to know that all is well in there. Don't dare watch/read/think too much about any of this stillborn stuff, but you really would think theyd be offering extra scans if its such a big problem

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 17/10/2014 19:34

Honestly guys, you can't really make anything out at the later scans. Apparently it's because it's so squashed - all I could make out was the spine and the shape of the head. I was expecting to be able to see facial features and all sorts.

Lucy you're brave letting him do your nails! DH did mine for a laugh once and I was horrified at his sideways colouring in sort of technique! I am a nail technician, but still! Nope.
