Oh i will have a look!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/10/2014 11:02

Make sure you get an anti burst one, so if it pops it goes down slowly. Thy are also good for dodgy pelvises and for during labour.

Cuppachaplz · 16/10/2014 11:38

Been thinking about getting a ball for a while as cannot sit comfortably.
All you ladies in the know, what siZe do you need?

CatFaceCrayola · 16/10/2014 13:52

My cheap exercise ball has been good for sitting on and sort of sprawling across when by back/hips are really sore. Wish they came with a back rest though...not great for relaxing on

mrsHawk1ns · 16/10/2014 14:28

Cuppa, As a general rule If you're up to 5ft 8, get a 65cm ball. If you're 5ft 9 or more then it's best to get a 75cm ball. As long as when you sit on it, your hips are slightly higher up than your knees. Any size ball will take your weight whatever your size, they take up to like 50 stone :-)

mrsHawk1ns · 16/10/2014 14:29

CatFace, can you use it near a sofa or chair and kind of lean against that as a back rest?

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 16/10/2014 15:41

Mine is blown up but I've had to confiscate it and shove it in the back room because ds developed a game which looks amazing fun that I had to ban on the grounds that I'm supposed to be a responsible adult i can't join in and he will eventually hurt himself and/or break something. (Leaping off the sofa onto the ball in case you're interested).

espa · 16/10/2014 16:44

I just sneezed and a little bit of pee came out....bad times. Last night walking back to the car after NCT I thought I'd wet myself with the pressure baby had on my bladder but luckily hadn't, but it obviously wasn't far off!

mrsHawk1ns · 16/10/2014 20:07

Just got offered a seat in whispers the kebab shop! but they got my order allllll wrong and I didn't find out til I got home Sad

LotsaTuddles · 16/10/2014 20:19

I'm stuck on sofa. Hips are killing me and baby has well and truly decided that my ribs need to be relocated and it's doing her best to actually do it.

Really sore Braxton hicks aren't helping, and DH is staying away with work tonight

monkeybaby2 · 16/10/2014 21:11

Peace be prepared for this not to be the only time you get breast feeding pressure too. Mw and HV's are also told to push the hell out of it. Sounds like you are handling it really sensibly though. I didn't, and ended up a tear-soaked guilty PND mess by the time I gave up at 8 weeks. I never envisaged I wouldn't bf so was completely unprepared emotionally for ff. Fortunately my MN group talked some sense into me and we never looked back! I'm planning on trying again this time but definitely not letting myself get into the same state I did last time!

funchum8am · 16/10/2014 22:13

Having bf DD and found it luckily very easy I will aim to do so again with DC2 but I went back to work before DD was 5 months as DH and I shared the leave, so did a bit expressing/ mix feeding from 16 wks and then gave up at six months as DD wasn't interested in boob any more. So I wasn't properly tied to it for that long in the grand scheme of things and was lucky as it was easy.

However, I had a friend who was determined to bf and did for ages with her DD, but then had to give up after a few weeks with her DS as he couldn't latch properly and she was in agony. So I am fully prepared to try but won't be beating myself up over it if it doesn't work out - we have choices and we all have our family's overall well being at heart when we make them. Being stressed and made to feel guilty isn't helpful to our partners or our children, never mind us!

I will say one thing for bf and that is that it was a great excuse for sitting on the sofa for ages and watching box sets, being waited on hand and foot, and no one else could do it for me! Not sure that will be possible with a toddler though!

Fraggle31 · 16/10/2014 22:15

Glad you love the cot Peace.

The first Jingle Baby has been born!!!!! Had a bit of a "christ, this is actually happening" wobble at that!

Feeling so so tired today.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 16/10/2014 22:36

I think the fact that the first one of us has given birth has brought it home to me too that in a matter of weeks I'll have to put all this stuff into practice. Fuck me am I not ready!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/10/2014 22:45

WAT! Who has had their baby??

OP posts:
Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/10/2014 23:14

Don't say things like that and then leave me hanging!!

teaandducks · 16/10/2014 23:32

Ah scary times! 1st jingle baby all too real... think she is bettycakes on here. Maybe time to get organised - at least you have beautiful cot ready peace. That is an excellent start. I've got the cot that both I, my sister, my mum and her 3 siblings had which I think is lovely but now my mums worrying about safety requirements having changed... torn between thinking 'well it did us all fine health and safety gone mad' and first time mum phobia!

Only other thing I have ready is GIANT bottle of gaviscon now progressed to - think my mum got bored recurrently going to shop for me so brought a litre back today. Depressed that it might not even last the course...

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/10/2014 23:36

Wow! Any reason it came early? Was it a boy or a girl? All healthy?

OP posts:
Cuppachaplz · 16/10/2014 23:53

So, bump has just managed to hoof a pint of ribina over me, the sofa and my knitting...
Anyone else's evening come yo a sticky end? Xx

CatFaceCrayola · 17/10/2014 00:37

It's a boy. 6 weeks early "he's in neonatal doing well, mostly because they gave me steroid injections last week when they thought I might be early"

was an emergency c section.

I'm really freaking out at the sudden real-ness of it all!!!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 17/10/2014 06:42

Yeah Cat me too. This is organisation weekend...

espa · 17/10/2014 07:13

Wow baby already! I've been freaking since Chris Hoy's baby was born at 29 weeks and I'm 30 weeks, I'm nowhere near ready either! Let me finish work first!
