I've seen the group for May or June, but are there any other definite Junes yet?
Been getting faint positive lines for a few days but today have got a definite line, giving me a due date of around 6th June :)

Trying to stay cautiously optimistic at the moment as we had an MMC in May at 8 weeks.

So, who else is out there? :)

What fabulous news superglue! Wow!

Re: constipation - if you go to the GP you can a prescription for whatever is most suitable for you Grin.

I remember a particularly mortifying and painful experience in a public loo cubical at work, where I was stuck pushing for over 30 minutes, with a poo just sticking out but refusing to budge. Oh god it was hideous. I was in the 2nd trimester, and it made me late for work!! I had make up some excuse as to why!

I swear I am not going to let myself get in to that state this time!

I've paid a visit to the GP today, to discuss management of hyperemesis. As I've had it in each pregnancy, there is over 85% likelihood of it reoccuring. In fact, I think it's even higher than that, I've forgotten the figures now!

So I'm 4 weeks on wednesday, and I have a supply of the drugs which were effective for me last time - cyclizine and ondansetron. I also have cyclizine to inject as this is far superior in stopping the vomiting when it gets out of control. I asked the GP if they would re-prescribe it this time, as although I have a small supply, it won't be enough most likely. She agreed to do it, so fingers crossed that when it comes to it, I'll get it.

I won't go on too much, but this is my one anxiety, so I am keen to do everything in my power to keep it under control.

Anyone else had it previously? I'm hoping no one does. It is truly hideous, and I have been lucky because my first pregnancy it only(!) lasted til 22 weeks. And last time it was down to 14 weeks as I had it under control with the injections. I'm hoping that taking medication before it even starts this time will make it a much better experience.

This is a good site for information on nausea and vomiting in pregnancy as well as the more severe form which is hyperemesis gravidarum.

Hi ladies :) Just got a very faint bfp tonight! Extremely nervous and apprehensive. I've currently just finished undergoing lots of tests for recurrent miscarriage(3) and am absolutely weeping myself :( don't want to get my hopes up but it's had not to! Me and my consultant have a plan of action for when I did become pregnant tho in relation to prior m/c it was scan at 7 weeks, aspirin and blood thinning injections :/ better get my bum in gear and see a gp! Congratulations to everyone and here's to the next 9months :) Envy

Yeah envious we literally made the plan a couple weeks ago :) I think that's why I'm letting myself be a wee bit hopeful first time on it might be the lucky time eh? :)

I am still mystified as to how you are supposed to get up and go to work, and front meetings and make presentations?!! I am a consultant so am always out at clients and always expected to be professional... I think I will have to tell them. I haven't eaten much in days and both attempts at food tonight have come straight back up. Will make a doctors appointment and hope he can prescribe something that gets me through the next couple of months...

TheDetective · 14/10/2014 00:14

I'll out myself now, I haven't made secret of it on MN, but I don't generally offer advice, as I don't feel it is appropriate online. But I'm a midwife.

I'm dreading the vomiting. Can you imagine when your in labour, and your midwife is vomiting in front of you? Or you can hear her in the next room.

Yeah, it's going to go badly!

Hmm

Oh goodness thedetective I feel for you, I'm a staff nurse and to be fair I didn't even consider how sensitive my stomach will be Shock poor patients eh? Confused

TheDetective · 14/10/2014 01:00

I ended up off sick in my last pregnancy from week 7-13. I'm sure anyone else in the NHS knows this - but maternity pay is calculated from weeks 17-25, but it is the full month in which you turn 17 weeks in. Therefore, it is your unsocial enhancements from the month before that and the month you turn 17 weeks in which will count for maternity pay.

Last time we got full pay including enhancements when off sick, but this time I will get full pay minus enhancements.

So the upshot is, I can't really be off sick in these early weeks as I'm the main wage earner in my house. My maternity pay is more than DP earns!

It's going to give me a lot of stress I'm sure!

Please don't make me sick little baby!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 14/10/2014 06:42

TheDetective that sounds hard! Although I had a male midwife last time which is totally fine but he wasn't very kind or sympathetic which made me wish he had a vagina. So maybe it will help show your patients that you care and understand?

I've woken up feeling anxious today. Sad I've been relaxed so far but the total lack of symptoms is making me feel like it's not real or its not going to last. I know it's irrational. I'm only 5 weeks.
I wasn't completely 100% sure that this pregnancy was definitely what I wanted. But it is.

nataaaaliee · 14/10/2014 07:09

guybrush The symptoms will come :) I have a few at the moment but silly ones more than anything like a metal taste in my mouth (so vile I can't eat anything because it's all I can taste and smellHmm) and slight cramps which apparently is my uterus stretching? Avid Google here! Does anybody else have muh symptoms? Smile

MrsExtraOrdinary · 14/10/2014 07:42

Detective I had no idea you were a midwife, but please let me put your mind at rest as a mum of 5 already and 6 on the way. The midwives I've found best are the human ones. You are only human. I had An estate agent throw up mid viewing once. But was actually more concerned she was ok.

The worst midwife I had was a snotty young girl who told me I didn't need pain relief. I was in a right old panic age 18 I can assure you I did. Baby 2 a junior midwife inserted a catheter in the wrong hole. I had one mw yank my cervix down mid contraction on baby 3. They also are on my list on bad mws. Another got bored during my physiological third stage and decided to yank my placenta out while discussing what a bad profession midwifery hard become and she was leaving. These mws are all unprofessional in my experience. Being sick wouldn't bother me.

Fortunately along the way I've met some lovely mws too. But I can promise you the best ones are the ones that care about the patients and see them as individuals. You are allowed to be ill too even though you are a mw. I expect you'd get more understanding from the ladies in your care than you realise. Thanks

ots · 14/10/2014 08:11

Morning ladies. Got a bit of a tmi problem Blush
I've got a tiny cut on my bum and it bleeds slightly when I do a number 2. It doesn't really hurt, just feels a little bit sore when I wipe. Do I need to see Dr or just let it heal up?

Also noticed a tiny bit of pink blood when I wiped when having a wee. The rational side of me knows it has probably dripped down from my bum (sorry this is so gross) and mixed with wee looks pink? But obviously due to my previous miscarriage I can't help but think the worst. Only had it once when I wiped there though, and was only a really tiny bit so trying to be positive but aaaarrggghhh!

Sorry this post is a bit jumbled and way too tmi for this time of morning!

Hey all...I was briefly on the May board but it's looking June now. :)

Just wanted to pop in and say hello...going to sleep now. I'm so ill, anyone else? :(

CheerfulYank · 14/10/2014 08:38

Ots if it's just once and pink blood I wouldn't worry. :)

As far as your bum goes if it's pinkish it's usually okay, a superficial anal tear. I have celiac disease (that's how we spell it in the US :) ) and I used to get them frequently. If it's a lot of red or very dark blood it's a problem. Just a bit of pinkish or light red is okay.

fortywinx · 14/10/2014 08:55

Sympathy your way Cheerful. I was late to work because I was hanging over the toilet bowl this morning. I was supposed to be doing a presentation to the rest of the staff but luckily one of my bosses covered for me. Now sat in my office feeling grim. Not sure how I'm going to keep this quiet at work! Confused

Chookford · 14/10/2014 10:35

Congrats and welcome nataaaaliee and cheerful

Detective I really feel for you doing your job whislt feeling like a pile of crap must be really hard going! but as mrsE said you are allowed to be ill too Im sure most women would be very understanding, I wouldnt care one bit if my midwife was sick!

Is anyone else having trouble eating their dinner? Im ravenous at breakfast and lunch but come dinner I can barely manage 3 or 4 mouthfuls then I am done? I think it may be I am eating too late we eat about 7ish when dh gets home from work so maybe I neeed to eat dinner with dd at 5 see if that helps?!

Hello ladies ... May I pull up a chair?

Got my BFP this morning after a long weekend of bfns on cheap eBay sticks. My resolve broke and I bought a posh digital one and it was definitely worth it!

This bean will be DC3. We have a teenager and an almost 1 year old already.

No symptoms yet. I think I started with nausea, dizziness and backache at around 6 weeks last time. Not looking forward to the first trimester exhaustion with a little one to run after ...

Is Notsoold still around? I had a look around a few weeks ago and thought I saw her here ...

Fingers crossed for us all - may be have happy and healthy pregnancies!

Chookford · 14/10/2014 12:03

Welcome and congrats Anything pull up a chair and join in!

notsoold · 14/10/2014 12:04

I phoned the hospital for a private scan and they can see us at when we would be 7+0, or 9+0. I had a mmc at around 8 weeks in the past. What do I do???? 9 weeks seems terrible far away (I am 5+5) and I was looking for a way of reassuring myself.
Wwyd????

notsoold · 14/10/2014 12:06

I phoned for a app with mw and was told I have to see gp first as that is their procedure. Hmm..... they wouldn't offer me a scan just because I am nervous would they???
