I've seen the group for May or June, but are there any other definite Junes yet?
Been getting faint positive lines for a few days but today have got a definite line, giving me a due date of around 6th June :)

Trying to stay cautiously optimistic at the moment as we had an MMC in May at 8 weeks.

So, who else is out there? :)

The problem is, care has changed a huge amount over the years. By far my best pregnancy and birth was baby4. When I got to having a baby last time though all the rules had changed. Suddenly I became high risk. Which wasn't because I had changed or my birth had become any riskier but the system had. We are now in a blame society. Where people su, so medical professionals are scared. I had no continuity of care. Nobody was listening. Back when I had my eldest son I was quite young and nobody gave a fuck about my thyroid. I happened to mention I was continually fainting and the reaction was well what do you expect you're pregnant. So although I take on bored what is said I stand by the belief that I actually know my body better than an idiot man who has never had any children. I've been pushed and pulled from pillar to post over the years in 16 years of having babies the world has changed an awful lot. But my body is fairly the same as it always was.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 10/10/2014 03:27

As for stomach cramps you may find it comes and goes throughout the pregnancy. Some times more of a dull ache like period pain and other times more like waves of pain. But if you don't have any for a bit don't worry. Not everyone gets them. It's completely understandable you are anxious.

No I do believe you. Grin My mum lost 4 babies before she finally had a healthy baby on pregnancy 5. She used to say it was a case of here we go again. She never knew how it would end. But it did end well in the end. She had 3dc in all. Losses really knock your confidence. I've had them too but they came after I had my dc so I knew it could work or it should anyway. It is a highly worrying time. Each day at a time. Have you tried camomile tea?

Mrs E - really interesting to hear how your care has changed during your successive labours. I hope you get someone good this time as it sounds like you know what you are doing!

Envious Good to be reminded about optimal foetal positioning. I seem to remember so of my June 2012 group trying the spinning babies website last time and spending some time madly hanging upside down off th end of the sofa Smile

Jazzy I missed all the talk of heightened sex drive too! Definitely do not have that symptom yet!!

I am definitely having a scan at 8 weeks. It picked up my missed miscarriage the first time I was pregnant and gave me some comfort until the 12 week scan the next time. Was talking to DH about buying a package of scans but he has told me that it is expensive and we don't need them! He has agreed to the early one because he knows I worry.

He does have a point because my contract at work is ending during my pregnancy and I think renewal is unlikely with a mahoosive bump so I may be glad of the money during my career break!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 10/10/2014 07:48

I'm not taking any chances Zac, I'm paying this time.

jazzyjenbo · 10/10/2014 08:59

It was ots who said she had a heightened sex drive... Lol..

Phryn · 10/10/2014 09:08

Got a GP appt at 9:50 to talk about my shoulder pain worries. Now if the chimney guy turns up when he said he would and I can find a pound coin for parking I'll be fine... Hopefully!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 10/10/2014 09:17

Hope it goes well phryn. Keep my fx for you.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 10/10/2014 09:53

Phryn, how many weeks are you? As ectopic concerns are serious, it's likely they'll send you to a and e or early pregnancy unit. How many weeks are you?

I had this last pregnancy- sharp pains at one side of abdomen and shoulder pain. Had a scan with fanny cam at 6 weeks and 3 days and we saw a tiny heartbeat- everything was fine.
Don't panic! It's most likely everything is fine. The referred pain in ectopic is 'shoulder tip' pain- right on the to edge and would be very very sharp I think. But definitely doing the right thing in getting seen. Hope all is well.

Phryn · 10/10/2014 10:49

Thanks Mrs and Guy.

GP got me to describe the pain, move my arms/shoulders in certain ways and examined my stomach/area above uterus (gave it a good prod in a medical way).

We agreed it's more muscular pain, it's not sharp, it's not at the shoulder tip. I wonder if it's a combo of my old injury plus trying to get used to sleeping on that side (which I don't usually do). Stomach prodding revealed I'm slightly tender all over (not surprising what with growing a baby and with associated digestion grumbles) but no sharp pain or particular pain on one side.

I was then given my flu jab and sent on my way with some shoulder exercises.

GP was lovely. I think I did the right thing getting it checked out even for my own peace of mind!

Phryn · 10/10/2014 10:50

PS Guy I'm 6.2 weeks along, but I think I ovulated a week late so more like 5.2.

bubalou · 10/10/2014 11:19

Hey all Smile

Hope you're all feeling better then I am.

6+2 and the all day 'morning sickness' and nausea is horrendous. My sense of smell makes me gag at everything. My mum is winding me up saying it must be twins because my symptoms are so strong Shock

Haha.

Really hope the nausea subsides as it is horrendous and literally lasted all day for 3 days now.

Oh well. It will be worth it. I'm just stubborn and refuse to be unwell but need to accept my body is doing a lot of work growing another human and need to give myself a break.

fortywinx · 10/10/2014 11:40

Wow! I missed a lot of chatter on here! XD

Jazzy I'm the same. I'm a little worried that we'll dislodge the bean if we DTD, which is ridiculous I know. I suspect that exhaustion is also a factor, although I was keen yesterday but OH was out all evening, and by the time he got back from rock climbing, I was asleep on the sofa!

Oh buba that sounds unpleasant to say the least. I'm not looking forward to that at all! Hope you're taking it as easy as you can.

Glad that it doesn't sound like an ectopic Phryn. And that all over belly tenderness is normal. And thank you for reminding me that I should sort out my flu jab at some point soon!

My GP was lovely yesterday bless him, he sorted out my prescriptions and told me that my asthma might well be better through my pregnancy which would be nice. Got given the correct number for making my booking in appointment, it's a children's centre around the corner from where I live which seems better than going to the giant city hospital and trying to find somewhere to park. My booking in isn't until the 4th November though, when I'll be 8+7 which is a shame because I'm off work the week before and was hoping it would be then, but nevermind I suppose!

silversixpence · 10/10/2014 11:50

Phryn that sounds reassuring. My back isn't too bad at the moment and I've been on a walk this morning which helps.

DD is obsessed with 'belly'. She started asking to touch it when she stopped bf a couple of months ago and is completely obsessed when she is tired or wants comfort! I'm not sure what she'll make of it when the baby starts moving (hopefully she'll have stopped doing it by then)!

Speaking of which, I look really pregnant already! I think its mostly bloating but I wouldn't be surprised if someone guesses. I'm trying to keep it quiet until at least 8 weeks as we'll be seeing my parents at half term.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 10/10/2014 11:57

That is great Phryn, hope you feel reassured.
Sorry you're feeling rubbish Buba. I'm feeling ok so far but am only about 4+4. I think last time the nausea started about 5 weeks and lasted til 9.
I haven't really told dd as she only two so I don't think she'd understand. Plus she doesn't have any concept of 'in 5 minutes', never mind 'in 9 months'!
It still hasn't really sunk in for me yet. Eek.
Do any of the second / third timers have negative feelings about labour based on a previous experience? I do to some extent so wondering how I should deal with that. Maybe I'll try and have a full and frank discussion at my booking in appointment.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 10/10/2014 12:04

Yesterday I had a craving for walkers prawn cocktail crisps. I'm not a crisp lover at all. I think they're awful. But I had to hand them. All 3 packets! Dh was laughing his head off because he's never seen me eat 3 packets of crisps in a row. Let alone prawn cocktail, which he would say are devils spawn. Nausea kicked in this morning, solved by salt and vinegar. This is totally ridiculous and not me at all! Grin

bubalou · 10/10/2014 12:21

Thank you all.

Yes trying to take it easy. Eating a little every 2 hours helps massively. If I don't I have discovered that's what makes me really unwell and nauseous.

MrsE - just had 2 packets of walkers salt and vinegar and feel soooo much better. Salty stuff definitely works although I'm obviously trying not to eat too much salt.

Smile

Dole fruit and jelly cups and dairlea Dunkers are another recommendation.
