I understand WutheringFrights :(

I had a termination (11 weeks), MC a year after which I felt was punishment for it. Took me a long time (over a decade) to TTC again. Had a false positive this year. I couldn't even look at the scan at 7 weeks for this pregnancy, the same for the 10 week one. Only when she told me things were OK could I look. Every scan is a sinking stomach feeling, any rest in symptoms is worry to me, any symptoms I get are a worry. I'm stuck in a worry cycle. Think I will until beanie hopefully becomes a baby. Right now I have no faith that's going to happen. I'll only believe it when he or she is in my arms. Until then it's a lovely journey that i have no control over. So I'm badly trying not to worry.

WutheringFrights · 05/10/2014 22:05

I'm so sorry Tori I have only just gone up thread and read your recent posts. Our bodies are the most amazing things in the world but they can't half put us through some worry!!
Hope you are taking it easy tonight x

Mslad · 05/10/2014 22:13

Wuthering everything you're saying totally makes sense to me. I've been really worried about the lack of symptoms (hence talking up my friends for reassurance) & I don't know what to think about scans. At first I didn't want an early scan, cos if kinda felt like, until I have the scan I'm pregnant, & that can be all taken away at the scan. I now have one booked for next week (I'll be 9 weeks) & I feel sick at the thought of it. But...what will be will be I suppose, we've just got to hold tight & try get through these few weeks.

Hugs to everyone xxx

WutheringFrights · 05/10/2014 22:16

plinkyplonks that is exactly how I feel - I have worried through both my previous successful pregnancies. I cried at our 12 week scan for our DD as I was so petrified that we had lost the baby that I couldn't look at the screen. Then properly cried when I was told everything was okay.
My other worry - while I'm at it - is that this baby wasn't planned and although we really really want another baby it isn't the best timing in the world and my first reaction to finding out I was pregnant was panic.
We also were on the verge of exchanging contracts for our dream house which was pulled from under us two weeks ago.
I spent this last week making a friends wedding cake and have been up till midnight most nights making it.
So basically I have spent 5 weeks being unbelievably uptight and I now that this won't have done the bean any good. If I lose it it will be because I have out myself under too much stress.

plinkyplonks · 05/10/2014 22:17

What my husband always says to me - will the scan change anything? No. Can I control what happens? No.

So all we can do is be positive and have faith everything will go OK. And if it doesn't go well, then we all have it takes and the support from RL and our May buddies to get through :) x

WutheringFrights - I have had the worst few weeks in work, that I've had to call in sick for. I've not been eating, lost weight, stressed and cried all the way through the last few weeks. The person who did my scan said to me that beanies are so resilient that there is very little I could do to affect beanie - obviously, if i'm stressed the baby can get the hormones going through my blood stream. But there is very little I could do to cause a miscarriage and statistically I think it supports this view (75% caused by things outside our control).

If the beanie is meant to be, it's meant to be. If it's not, that its so, so hard but it's better than beanie being born into the world only to suffer.

We have to stay positive, it's all we've got :)

WutheringFrights · 05/10/2014 22:35

Thank you all for your wise words - it really helps talking to people who actually know how I feel.
DH is so supportive but he doesn't understand why I am so convinced that we have lost the baby...tbh I'm not sure why I'm so convinced either - but talking to you all has made me chill out a huge amount tonight.
Thank you and sleep well!

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/10/2014 07:26

I was told by my consultant that stress in some cases is beneficial to a growing foetus, it helps to prime the nerve systems in the body as it develops before birth.

She also said that in 99% of cases miscarriage cannot be prevented or caused by something the mother is doing, if it will happen it will happen and it's usually a sign that all isn't well with the bean in the first place, we're like animals in that respect, our bodies fight to keep the strongest fittest offspring.

I'm well aware that doesn't make it any better, I know from bitter experience that nothing anyone says makes miscarriage better.
Today we are pregnant and that's perfect.

Mslad · 06/10/2014 09:18

Morning everyone, I found last nights discussion really helpful and made me feel a bit more rational (for now Smile )

However, I do think that perhaps I have some kind of urinary tract infection....I've a burning feeling down below and feel that I need to pee even more than usual. Has anyone had one in pregnancy? Can you take anything for it? Then again it could just be in my head, and I'm imagining a burning feeling........ Confused

plinkyplonks · 06/10/2014 10:12

Mslad I thought I had a UTI as I was getting burning feeling down below and having to wee frequently. This then progressed into (what felt like) pissing out fire. I had been getting lots of discharge come down as well but had been assured multiple times that was normal in pregnancy. Went to see my doctor after symptoms didn't go away, urine test confirmed no UTI but doctor diagnosed thrush instead! I've had thrush loads of times in my life but its never caused me to have burning wee! But a week on using good ole thrush cream, it's all gone away :D Morale of the story, don't put up with it - go to your doctor's and get a urine test done :D

Mslad · 06/10/2014 10:36

Thanks plinky you could be right! I was just thinking yesterday that the amount I discharge I have seems a lot more than usual! I think I would prefer if it was thrush as it would mean not having to take any antibiotics. Right, I think I'll make a call to my doctor Smile

Thank god for this thread for advice!

kittiker · 06/10/2014 10:48

Home from work today with a stinking cold which is making my nausea and dizziness much worse. Thank God for cheesy wotsits (all I can eat) - this baby is going to come out orange. Trying to watch 'Bones' but the last two episodes have made me both retch and cry so might have to swap for something less traumatic.

Had an early scan on Saturday - heartbeat and a little wiggly embryo. I was shaking like a leaf after it. I know things can still go wrong but it feels lovely to have had that moment of reassurance. Dating scan is in 3 weeks.

KittyVonCatsington · 06/10/2014 11:27

I am so so sorry that many of us are going through a hellish time at the moment. I too have had a scary 24 hours but hopefully I can help to reassure anyone.

Please note that there is a scan picture attached as I don't want to upset anyone

Although I have been having bad constipation and some rectal bleeding, at about 13:00 yesterday, I had bright red spotting from the front. Cue big freak out and a trip to A and E. I was sent to the Urgent Care Centre and saw a Doctor there. She took a urine sample and was still positive for pregnancy test but there was blood in the urine. She did an internal examination and saw that the cervix was still high a closed but lots of creamy CM came out with the speculum.

She said it looked like Thrush, which can cause bleeding and gave me Canesten cream (apparently pessaries are also okay but oral tablets are not, for pregnancy) She did, however, want me to come to the EPU this morning for a scan (Not open at the weekend) to check if the pregnancy had terminated.

Very upsetting and did have more spotting ;ast night and this morning but rested as much as I could.

I have just come back from the EPU and baby is alive and a little wriggler! They could see the heartbeat as well as hear it and agreed it was roughly 10ish weeks. However, they did see where the blood was coming from. Something called a Subchorionic Haemorrhage.
These are very common but normally get absorbed back so we don't notice. The straining from the constipation is the likely cause of the bleed showing up.

I just wanted to say that bright red bleeding with mild pain and backache doesn't always mean the worst, although from bitter experience from the past mc, I know how worrying it can be.

I hope Wuthering and Tori you and your babies are fine - I'll be thinking of you.

Mslad - The UTI is common but do see you GP for a safe prescription and record of it. In the meantime, drink more water than usual.

I have the rest of the day off work as I am exhausted from everything! Hugs to all Grin

mumxof3x · 06/10/2014 11:32

Wow kitty such a good scan pik :) so glad everything is ok.

Tori hope you are ok too

mumxof3x · 06/10/2014 11:36

Argh posted by accident. As I was saying hope you are ok tori and forgot to mention before that with ds3 I had an area of bleeding next to the sac it measured bigger than the sac, I had to return 2wk later and it had disappeared, the early scan also put me back a week....all was fine and ended up dating fine at 12wk scan.

Also hope everyone else that is going through worries, are abit more reassured now xx

Mslad · 06/10/2014 11:52

Hugs for you Kitty that must have been such a stressful 24 hours, but what a great outcome! that's a great clear picture, and your experience gives hope to all of us suffering weird symptoms. Smile

plinkyplonks · 06/10/2014 11:54

Mslad No worries - best of luck with the doctors :)

kittiker Glad to hear the scan went well. Also extremely happy with have a fellow Wotsit eater in the thread - I've been having them for brekkie :S

KittyVonCatsington Oh no! Really glad to hear that you've had a positive outcome. Scan picture is really clear - absolutely wonderful! So glad you and beanie are OK Flowers

Best of luck to anyone having complications or MS at the moment. Currently at 10 weeks 4 days - really please MS is calming down now :) We'll get through it!

fififolle · 06/10/2014 14:38

Gosh Kitty what a stressful 24 hours you've had, no wander you're shattered. I'm so happy that you've had a scan of your little bean- the picture looks great. Lots of love. X
Mslad and Plinky I had really bad thrush when pg with DS- in fact, it was one of my first symptoms.
Thinking of you Wuthering and Tori Flowers

fififolle · 06/10/2014 14:58

Kitty I've just had exactly the same spotting as you. I'm trying not to panic, your post has given me a lot of reassurance. I don't have time to go to EPU as I need to collect DS from school. I'm just going to wait and see but remaining positive.

KittyVonCatsington · 06/10/2014 15:50

fifi Any period like pain (other pains are normal pregnancy ones and generally fine apparently) or thick clots and do go to A and E, my lovely. I hate seeing red blood now but I'm a bit calmer about it!

fififolle · 06/10/2014 16:04

Thank you Kitty. I've got odd, twingey cramps but I've had them for weeks- I also can't stand anything tight across my tummy. I've just has a tiny bit of old blood on wiping so I'm fairly sure that it was the straining that caused it earlier. It shows what a fantastic support group this is as if I hadn't seen your post, I'd be really panicking. X

BB01 · 06/10/2014 16:12

Good to hear of the positive scans everyone :-) today I have lost my temper at my toddler (thankfully rare occurrence), cried in the chemist's (long story but poor pharmacist thought I was nuts), nearly puked in the car, had bad news about two friends, but it is a Monday and things can only get better!

KittyVonCatsington · 06/10/2014 16:55

Really recommend getting orange fybogel fifi -it is safe to use in pregnancy. Till then, drink plenty of water xxx

BB -At least Monday is nearly over Smile
