Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HariboBrenshnio · 19/09/2014 20:29

Hi madpixie. Congratulations on you BFP!! The first 12 weeks are so worrying, with my first i didn't relax at all until my 12 week scan. I wanted to get excited but worried i was setting myself up for a fall. But today, we are pregnant :)

OP posts:
madpixie · 19/09/2014 20:36

True true, and because it was through IVF, I've already had a scan this week (week 7 I think) and we could see a heartbeat already - we weren't expecting that.

CostaLotta · 19/09/2014 21:02

Signing in to new thread. Sorry to hear about Elley, take care of yourself.

Congrats on the successful IVF mad!

Got 1st midwife appt next week... Over the phone! That's changed since I had DS.

So I realise it's very early but is anyone planning or had a home birth?

NoRoomForALittleOne · 19/09/2014 21:08

The community midwives refuse to do a home birth for me Sad I'm not convinced that they are allowed to do that.

Fluffeh · 19/09/2014 21:09

So sorry Elley, please take all the time you need to heal x

I had an elcs for medical reasons last time. It's safer but I am so conflicted this time. I want to be home with dd ASAP and last time they kept me in for 7 nights.
I'll also be consultant led. Never saw a registrar last time just my consultant who was lovely.

There's so many of us already, looks like May is a busy month for babies x

CostaLotta · 19/09/2014 21:12

noroom I've read that they obviously can't force you into hospital but they can refuse to send a midwife and just send an ambulance instead. Whether that's true I don't know.

GinIsCalling · 19/09/2014 21:19

Congrats madpixie The miscarriage thing is scary, but I have read that the risk is considerably lower once you've seen a heartbeat - so you have that on your side.

I've not posted much as the nausea is a killer, my plan to eat super healthily is gone - it's just tiny bowls of plain pasta or plain baked potatoes. Watermelon is the only fruit I can stomach - I'm not usually a huge fan. I can't keep the prenatal a down so instead have found a small folic acid and b vitamin tablet which I can stomach.

I also have feel guilty as have an older son who wants to do lots of things - he wants to get the paddling pool out this afternoon but I can't face being outside in the heat so have put disney junior on instead. Normally I do anything to avoid tv!

GinIsCalling · 19/09/2014 21:21

Sorry for all the typos! My brain is obviously suffering too.

Deftones · 20/09/2014 06:58

I'm 5 weeks today, I have the dull heavy pulling on the abdomen, and mild back ache. No morning sickness (all day) as of yet but that didn't happen till 6 weeks with DD.

I suffered horribly last time, here's hoping this one will be completely different!

Will be doing another test when I get home from honeymoon tonight, just to reassure myself. I've drunk gallons of vino, up until I tested on Thursday, but have assured myself that the bean is still feeding off the yolk and not me yet! Sad

pintsizeprincess · 20/09/2014 07:28

Congratulations everyone!. I'm still a bit stunned but got my bfp on thursday after 18 months of ttc#2. I turned 40 last month and have a dd aged 2. estimated i'm approx 5 weeks. still early days but sod it i'm allowing myself to get excited and have banned myself from reading the scary stats for the over 40s!. sending us all positive vibes!!. xx

BB01 · 20/09/2014 08:22

Welcome to all new joiners!

Costa, I haven't ruled out a home birth. I planned one last time but ended being in high risk so had to be in the consultant bit of the hospital so a far cry from it! Tbh I think one of the big benefits of a home birth is that women often feel more relaxed and this helps them labour but having had a really complicated birth then sick baby last time I just feel personally I might feel better in a hospital. But I honestly still think they're great for low risk women who would feel more relaxed at home. I think I might just try for the water pool rooms in our midwife led unit as they seem like a good middle ground.

Drewanna · 20/09/2014 08:33

Costalotta - I'd love a home birth. In fact I'd insist if I could but I'm 39, overweight and it's my first. Even my best friend who's had at least 2 of her 4 dc at home is furious that I want mine at home.
Pintsizeprincess - I'm so excited I'm driving my DH mad.

KittyVonCatsington · 20/09/2014 09:12

Hello madpixie-so pleased you have had a successful IVF and hope you enjoy your journey with us!

Am going to try and plan a hospital birth, even over a birth centre one. I have a history of slipped discs and have awful back trouble so will opt for as much assistance, including drugs as I can. I don't want to not be able to walk/not stand up/have difficulty sitting when I have a newborn to look after.

Well done on 5 weeks Deftones and pintsize! 8 weeks today for me and I have finally caught the start-of-term cold. Going to have a duvet day today Grin

LinaDee · 20/09/2014 10:06

Kitty - this cold doesn't seem to be missing anyone Hmm

I'll also be having my baby in a hospital in a consultant led unit and I'll probably be requesting an epidural ASAP!!
I had a bad experience with DD being back to back. Terribly painful and ended up in theatre where she was delivered by forceps - awful!
Once I had my epidural last time, I genuinely enjoyed my labour (until the theatre part!)

Hope its more straight forward this time.

Sunshinesaz86 · 20/09/2014 10:30

hi ladies, how's everyone doing?

sorry for your loss ella, look after yourself and take it easy x
welcomedeftones and congratulations.
I hope your feeling better today three?
congrats, jenni i bet it was lovely to see.
congrats madpixi!
sorry to hear your also suffering gin.
pintsize how fantstic for you after trying for so long.
kitty congrats on 8 weeks and take it easy this weekend if your feeling under the weather.

i had my first midwife appointment yesterday and she was encouraging me towards a homebirth, but as its my 1st i definitley want to be in the hospital........she's also booked me in for a very early scan on monday (6 weeks today horahh) due to the AF type pains i keep getting as i have been up in the night three times this week witht he pain coming and going so she just wants to make sure everything is as it should be and the little bean is in the right place and not eptopic. I feel ok about it as i would assume i would be in constant pain and apparently it would be more to one side if it was eptopic which it isnt so FX all is at it should be and hopefully it will put my mind at ease if/when the pains keep coming.

Sorry for long post, theres alot to catch up on sorry if ive missed anyone?

Quinandthem · 20/09/2014 11:32

I'll be definitely having a hospital birth - although hopefully a water birth on a midwife led unit.

Natalie1989xo · 20/09/2014 11:46

Hi Ladies, Can I join?

This one is dc#3 due 30th May xx

KittyVonCatsington · 20/09/2014 11:58

Hi and welcome Natalie congrats on number 3!

Sunshine Poor love-you must be exhausted! I hope Monday gives a little more reassurance and your midwife can help you manage the AF pains.

Hah Lina! Glad I am not alone Smile Terrified to take any cold medicine so resting and drinking lots of water. Sorry your first labour experience was a shocker - hopefully we can all push for the birth we want without too much hassle

Sunshinesaz86 · 20/09/2014 12:27

welcome natalie and congrats!

thanks kitty, i am slightly tired im currently working my 2nd 6 day week in a row and being up for hours on end at night hasnt exactly helped. apart from that i feel generally ok, got the usual sore boobs, burping (lovely) waves of nausea so hopefully im just being a wimp god help me when i actually go into labour ha!! ps i hope your resting up, its a shame you cant take anything to perk you up. i hope mr kitty is being attentive.

Phantomquartz · 20/09/2014 12:50

I haven't posted since asking to join and I'm finding this so stressful. I don't remember when my period was so can't do dates yet. I ended up panicking that the pregnancy might be ectopic as I've been having twinges on one side, so I ended up going and having a scan. It isn't but the sonographer suggested either it was too early it may have stopped growing. I've got to go back in 10 days and get rescanned.

piglet81 · 20/09/2014 13:23

Hi phantomquartz, I feel for you - it's an anxiety-inducing experience! Am in a similar situation - early scan last Fri showed a gestational sac but no yolk sac, so am going back a week on Tues for a follow-up scan to see if things are progressing. In the meantime, just trying to keep calm and carry on but it's easier said than done, isn't it! Do you have support at home and enough to keep yourself occupied/your mind off it? Fingers crossed for you.

Phantomquartz · 20/09/2014 13:32

Thanks for replying piglet - it looks like we're going in on the same day. Do you have many "symptoms"? I'm not feeling sick but I'm feeling achy and bloated.

piglet81 · 20/09/2014 13:53

So far, tender boobs, tiredness and bloating - no sickness as yet. I keep obsessing over whether I 'feel' pregnant but this is my first time so I have nothing to compare with - not sure if that's helping or hindering! Confused

Here's hoping for good news all round.

dolallymum · 20/09/2014 14:02

New passenger. Smile
2nd DC. EDD 21st May '15.
1st DC is 3.
Not sure it's sunk in yet TBH.

KittyVonCatsington · 20/09/2014 14:11

Sunshine -you remembered! MrKitty is having his cast off on Tuesday Grin Let the pampering commence! You are doing an awful lot-feel free to crash when you can and sod things like household chores for now.

Phantom So sorry you have been panicking. 100% understand. Twinges and sharp pains on one or either side is very common in the 4th/5th/6th week. I got them too at first and I got my first twinge/electric shock feeling just below my belly button on Thursday.
Really quite cross your sonographer said what they did the way they did it. Glad you are going back to check, but an early miscarriage at this point would involve constant agony and blood, even with a blighted ovum. Feeling achy and bloated at this point is a good sign. Just remember (and you piglet!) today you are pregnant!
