Hello everyone, haven't posted for ages but have dipped in and out. Really sorry for those who have had losses and hope everyone's doing OK.

Had good news this morning - went back to EPU for follow-up scan and saw 8-week baby (blob, really...) with a heartbeat. Such a relief! Just the one (last time there was a suggestion of twins) which is good, too - DH was a bit disappointed by that but i think twins would have been a bit much! Anyway, it was brilliant and we feel really excited.

I know someone else on here was having a repeat scan today too but I've forgotten who, sorry! Good luck anyway!

jazzyjenbo · 30/09/2014 13:04

Afternoon ladies,
Fab news on the scan piglet.

I had my reassurance scan this morning at should b 5-6 weeks. All looked fine for early gestation, she estimated approx 5 weeks... Main thing is sac is in the correct place and yok was visible. I'm booked in again in 2 weeks to hopefully see baby and heartbeat.
I've mentioned before i'm getting aching on left side, turns out i hav a cyst on my left ovary but it seems to be collapsing and they will re check at nxt time... So generally feeling more optimistic.

LinaDee · 30/09/2014 13:34

Delighted for you piglet! ??

plinkyplonks · 30/09/2014 13:38

Congratulations to everyone who had their scans today :) x Flowers

Mslad - That's hardcore - I can barely stay up until 8pm let alone the early hours!! :D

Turquoisetamborine · 30/09/2014 13:47

This is my little angel. Measuring a day ahead so will be 8 weeks on Thursday.

May 2015: Thread 2 - Let the sickness begin!
Turquoisetamborine · 30/09/2014 13:48

I thought the round thing was the head but it's the yolk apparently. It was amazing to see the heart beating and hear it. Feel so relieved!

Turquoisetamborine · 30/09/2014 13:49

Congratulations on your scan Piglet. Did you get a photo?

Kyz · 30/09/2014 14:30

Afternoon all :)

Bless you meringue hope you're feeling better soon!

FX for you speedbird

TinyDancer I took paracetamol in my first pregnancy and was completely fine, I only took them sparingly but did need to have something occasionally as the pain from the killer headaches I got had me in tears very regularly. Hope you're feeling better soon

great news re the scan piglet :D

glad you got some reassurance jazzy

Lovely scan pic turquoise :D brill stuff :)

I'm struggling without coffee, can anyone recommend a nice as possible tasting decaf please?

NoRoomForALittleOne · 30/09/2014 15:26

I believe that some of the fairtrade decaf coffees are mountain water filtered rather than the caffeine being chemically removed. I'm told that makes the coffee taste much better but I'm not a coffee drinker so I have no idea!

Mslad · 30/09/2014 15:44

Its lovely to hear positive stories today (especially as I'm having a bit of a negative day) - great news piglet jazzy & turquoise Smile

BB01 · 30/09/2014 16:04

Douwe Egbert and Percoli decaf coffee are both excellent in my opinion

CheerfulYank · 30/09/2014 16:06

I keep having dreams where I lose the baby. :( I wake up in a panic.

Is anyone else exhausted? Like can hardly move exhausted? I had a week off from child minding last week due to strep but am back at it today..I am so tired. However it's good to have the kids back for my schedule...otherwise I'd just be lying around in my sweatpants. At least this way I'm forced to get up and dressed! :)

Great to hear about those who've had good news from their scans!

BB01 · 30/09/2014 16:23

Cheerful, I can just about make it through the day but I can't do anything in the evening but collapse on the sofa

HariboBrenshnio · 30/09/2014 16:36

Tori i had to move up bra sizes in my last pregnancy in the first 6 weeks. They swelled up, my back got bigger (your ribs expand in pregnancy) and it was so uncomfortable. They settled down after 12 weeks though and didn't feel so swollen until my milk came in after baby was born. Right now, they look and feel huge and i'll be going bra shopping this week and i think i'm the same, 5+4.

Fab scan picture! So glad you've had some reassurance.

Cheerful i've had similar dreams too. I've also had dreams where i have twin girls in this pregnancy so that helps me believe they are untrue. Your dreams are just your worries coming to the surface, there's no truth to them. No idea how your managing to be a childminder, i'm looking after 1 and it's hard enough!!

OP posts:
speedbird17 · 30/09/2014 16:52

Cheerful I am literally being so lazy as I am not allowed to work and they haven't managed to find me any work from home! Have not got out of my pyjamas today, as DD doing her last full week of nursery so I am trying to enjoy it as from next week I am SAHM and know I really will be knackered looking after an energetic toddler feeling like this!!

So glad lots of you are having good healthy scans, makes me more confident!!

piglet81 · 30/09/2014 17:02

Lovely to see scan pics and hear more good news. I didn't get a pic I'm afraid, but tbh couldn't really tell one end from the other (am experiencing mummy guilt about this already! Surely i ought to have some mystical connection to the little bean!) so there wasn't a great deal to see Wink

piglet81 · 30/09/2014 17:06

PS please tell me I'm not the only one still allowing herself some caffeine! I'm only having one proper coffee a day though, herbal tea the rest of the time.

speedbird17 · 30/09/2014 17:26

Piglet I am allowing myself the 200mg a day either 2 cups of tea or one filter coffee and some chocolate :)

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/09/2014 17:28

Does anyone know if the GP could give me anything for stomach acid if I went?

I have the constant bitter taste of acid in my mouth and it's making me feel really sick all the time.

Gaviscon and Rennies are pants and I can't find anything to mask the taste.

Mslad · 30/09/2014 17:29

piglet I cut it out, as I like decaf but mainly cos as with alcohol, if I had one I know I'd want more so I'm staying clear. But I spent the weekend with someone who has 4 fantastic grown up kids, & she smoked and drank alcohol and coffee throughout their pregnancies, so you know.... while I am heading all the advice, at the back of my mind I do think that what is meant to be, will be.

Anybody out there getting early scans, why/how did you decide the week to get them? I had my booking in appointment today, the midwife informed me that for some reason to do with the Dutch system I can get two scans. I'm now 7 weeks and had my one scan booked for week 11. So now I think I'll go for week 12 and.....? maybe 9 or 10. I'm interested to hear why you chose your week?

On a weird note, I was wearing pink undies today, and every time I went to the loo, any, ahem, leakage looked completely red, but when wiped there was nothing. I've learnt a lesson, from panicking every time I went to the loo to keep away from red pants. Did that make any sense to anyone or am I nuts?

Catnap1 · 30/09/2014 18:07

Hello all. I had my scan today and all is good! Woohoo! Was hoping it would be third time lucky. I'm 8 weeks tomorrow which was confirmed by the scan. Saw a little heartbeat, I cried. Feeling much more positive roll on the 12 week scan!

jazzyjenbo · 30/09/2014 18:23

Yay i knew the end of september was going to b positive.. I really hope that the rest of our pregnancies are going to go smoothly now.

Cheerful.. I am also a childminder and hav been really flagging over the past week or so. Just want to curl up on the sofa when they hav their naps instead of sorting out the activities but of course i can't.

Instead i've taken to retreating upstairs for a bath as soon as the last one leaves at 6pm.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but do like a brew so hav been trying to cut down abit.. However its not been that hard as i always crave ice cold drinks when pregnant.
