Good luck today theone

Lifeisabeach · 17/09/2014 10:11

I lost touch with this thread again so just been having a catch-up.

Congrats to all who have had their scans.

Durham, so sorry to read you're back in hospital, the sickness it has to end soon, surely :( I hope the doctors can find a solution and you get home again soon.

Good luck today theone.

I'm in denial about my scan on Friday, I can't bear to think about it. On the one hand I'm terrified it'll be bad news, and on the other hand, if all is ok then I'll have to start telling people. Dreading telling my mum, and although my boss will be fine, it's going to make things difficult for her when I go on mat leave.

I've got a definite little bump now. Am getting sick of wearing the same few outfits on rotation that hide my belly area.

Meh! Just want to skip the next few days and fast forward to the point where I've had the scan, all is ok, and everyone knows.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 17/09/2014 10:51

Some great scan pictures coming, let's just hope the sickness starts to bugger off for everyone soon, particularly for Durham.

I've started the ball rolling with insurance claims for both the wedding ring and front door so hopefully they will run as smoothly as these things can. Our poor tenants are petrified, so much so that they have asked for a new door without a letterbox, as they are frightened that someone is going to come back and put burning rags through the door. I just hope I get the go ahead as soon as possible so I can get the new door on. It has been well boarded up and had a temporary dead bolt put on to make them feel safer but they are still putting the fridge freezer up against the door overnight Sad Angry.

Butterpuff · 17/09/2014 10:52

Good luck with your scan Coast sorry there is still so much sickness, I hope it is going to move off soon for you all. Durham feeling especially bad for you, really help you get some rest bite soon.

coastergirl · 17/09/2014 10:59

Durham I'm so sorry that you are in hospital yet again! You poor thing. Surely things have to improve soon!

I've just got back from my scan. Everything looks ok, thankfully. I was so nervous. I'm very surprised that my due date got changed, because my two early scans were pretty consistent. I thought I was 12+6 today but I'm 13+4 so new due date of 21/3/15. Nuchal measurement was 2.9mm, which worried me a little, but I've just looked it up and they consider anything under 3.5mm to be 'normal'. They really struggled to get it too as baby was misbehaving, wriggling around loads and turning his back! That's a bit of a strange thing too. Before the scan I was referring to baby as "it" with no feeling of it being a boy or a girl. Now all of a sudden I seem to be saying "he"!

Anyway here here is:

durham I'm so sorry you're still feeling so bad :( wish the doctors would do something to help you!!

whohasnickedmyvodka · 17/09/2014 11:21

Just an update I will be having a wonderful baby with downs on 18/3/15 or knowing my luck 2 weeks early as with my other dcs :) :)

coastergirl · 17/09/2014 11:49

Ah whohas I love your attitude Smile I have worked with many amazing children with Downs and I think you're probably in for some fun! Smile

DurhamRed · 17/09/2014 11:53

Congratulations whohas you are definitely cooking a cutie Smile

whohasnickedmyvodka · 17/09/2014 11:54

Thanks coaster I'm in complete and utter shock but I will love bump no matter what and I get to find out the sex next week when the rest of the results come back so I need to get my thinking cap on :) :)

albertgirl · 17/09/2014 12:02

Hello ladies! May I join you here? I'm 12+1, EDD 31 Mar 15. FTM, BFP after 1st go at IVF (ICSI) - very lucky girl!

theonewiththenoisychild · 17/09/2014 12:09

i had my scan and all was well. sonographer said the "other sac" wasnt there then was and has now got smaller. she thinks they were wrong and it was a bleed. Confused bloody big bleed it was nearly the size of my babys sac. and ive had no more bleeding except a bit of brown spotting. i think they are trying to gloss over it Hmm anyway im happy to be having 1 baby. nt measurement was 1.8 and had blood taken aswell so should know in 3 weeks what the results are. i must try and upload a pic soon when i can figure out how to

oliveobsessed · 17/09/2014 12:18

durham big hugs hope you are feeling a bit better soon.

Has anyone had their 16 week midwife appointment yet I have mine on Friday and don't know what to expect

Butterpuff · 17/09/2014 12:27

Snap olive mine is Friday too. I was guessing that they will just check pee, and blood pressure, read notes, say anything that needs to be said from the scan, blood results so far and wish me well for the next few weeks till we meet again.

I have to say before the first scan I was constantly reading development and what was happening next, now I don't as its a bit boring, baby is just growing. I think the MW will be similar, well done, keep up the good work see you soon and it gets exciting when your up to 30 something weeks!

That said, really hoping they check babies heart beat.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 17/09/2014 12:36

Congrats whohas and loving your outlook. Like you say, you can now get your thinking cap on re: names and also everything else that you may need to sort. I am firmly of the opinion that I can cope with anything as long as I know what I'm facing Grin.

theonewiththenoisychild · 17/09/2014 12:50

keeper your poor tenants Sad awful how some people treat others Angry

Miffy79 · 17/09/2014 13:08

I don't even seem to get a 16 week appointment, I guess its how it works where I live (Fife).. I did call to query it, but my next appointment is the 20 week scan on 22nd October! That's aaaages away... Sad

theonewiththenoisychild · 17/09/2014 13:10

congrats whohas great attitude to have. downs wouldnt be the end of the world to me either. awwww me and my oh are finding out the babys gender too. we have to go private and pay as they are big meanies and wont tell us for free here. oh has put a ban on buying any clothes for baby until after the gender scan. but i can buy everything else Grin

tannyLoo · 17/09/2014 13:28

Whohas congratulations, and lucky lucky baby to have you as a family!

I'm not finding out the gender, I want a surprise. Just a real live baby will do me fine Smile

Lifeisabeach · 17/09/2014 14:08

Congratulations whohasnickedmyvodka, I can totally understand your shock but I'm sure you're at the start of an amazing journey with your special little one.

lotsoftoast · 17/09/2014 14:18

coastergirl · 17/09/2014 15:16

theone I'm so glad your scan went well.

Can I just say, it's so bloody refreshing to see so many positive attitudes towards Downs! I haven't seen this elsewhere, and it's lovely! I also realised i sounded a bit contradictory when I said my nt measurement worried me! It's just nerves about not knowing. I absolutely adore my job working with children with special needs, and would be blessed if I had one myself, or if I didn't! I'm happy with what I get basically.

pinkandstripey · 17/09/2014 15:59

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday, got my blood results - figured they'd have told me sooner if there was anything wrong tho. Got my NHS exemption form (she forgot last time) an talked about any concerns - I want an elcs, so I've been referred to the hospital. She said last time that I need to see a particular person, but I've had an appointment for general Obs and gynae through. She thinks that's ok (I'm not convinced but hey ho). I'm also moving out of area soon, so talked about the process for that. Then had a listen to baby's heartbeat :) :) which is one of my favourite buts of pregnancy :) There's nothing to worry about, and you should get to hear the bumpty bump of heartbeat :)
