zyla, that's nice. My adopted name is Hannah, though most people don't call me it!

ZebraZeebra · 28/09/2014 11:08

We had a very unusual...not even listed name...that we loved but didn't have the nerve to use first time around.

M27J5M · 28/09/2014 11:21

Hi all, just place marking till I catch up Smile

lotsoftoast · 28/09/2014 11:29

Love the name chat - we have a few in mind but I have one firm favourite at the minute

I'm liking Annabel at the moment for a girl. Also like Imogen and Martha. For a boy I like Alexander and Samuel but trying to think of a few others. It's so much harder this time as I'm trying to avoid names friends have used and also the names of kids in the DCs' classes.

smokeandglitter · 28/09/2014 13:12

zebra, I've got some not listed or very unusual names on my list. What made you nervous about using it? Just that people would struggle to pronounce or something else?

I think dh and I aren't going to tell anyone really but our parents our name choices until little one is born. I'm worried either someone else will make a comment about the names that put me off... Or on the other hand they might use one which I'd hate! Grin

PickledPorcupine · 28/09/2014 13:17

We're not even discussing them with parents, too many opinions. And my mum has the kind of face where she really can't hide what she's thinking! DH will tell them over the phone when he/she is born.

m33r · 28/09/2014 13:41

Same with me pickle. We love out girls name (and our boy's name but that's not negotiable and therefore not a secret) and don't want anyone's opinion on it. When our baby is born, we will tell everyone the name. Saying that, I am dying to tell my mum and finding it very hard not to but have promised DH!

Loving the name chat!!

I am really liking Olivia too, but agree that it might end up being a bit too popular! My DS is called Connor and I was surprised that there is only one other in his class, although a few in his school. Names can be so hard to settle on, I like Iris and Isla too. Argh!

A boys name will be harder though as we really have no favourites yet.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 28/09/2014 20:44

I'm insistent I'm having a boy though won't find out for another six weeks Envy
My family think I'm mad as I'm not even thinking about girls names , I have chose my boys name & I'm sticking with it despite everybody apart from Dp trying to get me to change my mind Smile

m33r · 29/09/2014 08:29

Good on you panda for sticking to your guns. I can't wait for my 20week scan so that my bean has a name!

Just wondered if anyone else has not gained any weight? Not a single pound? I did drop a pound and a half at the height of my ms which has come back on but nothing else. I feel I can seey shape changing and we heard baby's heartbeat at 15+1 (and again at15+2 - don't ask!). So just wondering: anyone else or should I be worried - dr google saying 4lbs by now...???

DurhamRed · 29/09/2014 08:59

I wouldn't worry about weight gain too much m33r I have lost over a stone with hg and have constantly been asking doctors about the weight. Both doctors and midwife have told me that some women barely put on weight throughout their pregnancy (if they do it is in the last trimester) and lack of weight gain has little or no effect on baby (ive had dramatic weight loss and my little bean is doing fine...thankfully!!). You'll probably find you'll start noticing weight gain more toward the end of your second trimester so don't worry too much about it. If you're concerned though have a good chat with your mW about it, mine has been great. :-)

m33r · 29/09/2014 09:42

Thanks durham. That's really reassuring! How are you feeling these days?

DurhamRed · 29/09/2014 10:02

Unfortunately I'm still suffering from hg quite badly. Can't seem to stabilise the symptoms so I'm still off work (3 hospital admissions so far) am praying for the day the sickness wears off! Otherwise I am just taking each day as it comes.

coastergirl · 29/09/2014 10:20

m33r I haven't gained any weight, in fact I seem to have lost a little bit. It's not due to sickness or dieting, think it's just the general improvement in my diet and lack of wine! I wanted to minimise weight gain anyway as I'm already overweight.

Lifeisabeach · 29/09/2014 10:21

Really hope the sickness starts wearing off soon Durham.

Got the date for my 20 week scan - 5th November, which is my birthday! Fingers crossed everything's ok and it'll be a double celebration.

m33r · 29/09/2014 11:09

Thanks coaster I have a strong suspicion that it's the lack of wine that's meaning I'm not gaining weight even though I'm eating more since pg. My diet was always pretty good before but I figured there's no way I could've been drinking that much wine ... Turns out, I must've been! Blush feeling thoroughly reassured now! Thanks everyone!

m33r · 29/09/2014 11:10

Oh my durham! I think you are heroic! I'm moaning about a little occasional nausea and tiredness. Hang in there; the end must be near ... Surely!?! FX

whohasnickedmyvodka · 29/09/2014 11:15

Just a quick update bump has a full scan tomorrow morning so we will find out if anything else is wrong my spd has come back with evengance so now on codeine and waiting for a physio appointment I am shitting it about tomorrow I know bump has downs syndrome but I really hope there is nothing else we also get to find out if it's pink or blue so we need to pick the name :) :) :)

coastergirl · 29/09/2014 11:42

whohas good luck with the scan!

m33r I'm the same. My actual diet was ok before, but I think it's improved because I'm just not fancying greasy food like takeaways. I also can't eat as much as I did before, although I'm definitely eating more chocolate. I know I was drinking far too much wine though, to block out the anxiety. It's been hard not having it but I do think it's that that has stopped me gaining weight. I was gaining weight more before I was pregnant lol!

durham I'm so sorry you're still suffering! Can't imagine what it must be like! Really hope it picks up soon.

JammyTodger · 29/09/2014 11:52

I'm losing weight too due to having to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. I am very much hoping to walk out of hospital in March in size 8 skinny jeans ;)

Miffy79 · 29/09/2014 14:07

Good luck with the scan whohas

We went for a gender scan at the weekend (mainly wanted to check all was OK, couldn't face waiting for the 20 week scan!!) and as I suspected we are having a baby boy Smile the only problem is, we had a lovely girl's name picked out that we both agreed on... (Skye).. and cannot decide on a boy's name at all!!!

Weight-wise, I've probably put on about 5-6 pounds so far, but I put this down to all the junk food consumed over the past 3 months Blush

DurhamRed · 29/09/2014 15:13

Not sure I'd call myself heroic m33r but thank you for your kind words :-)

The strangest thing is that although I've visibly lost a lot of weight my bump is huge!! I'm already in maternity wear and having to use belly bands. I am definitely noticibly pregnant (which is great as it gives me something tangible to keep me going through the sickness).

m33r · 29/09/2014 15:22

Good luck whohas. Let us know how it goes (and if it's pink or blue!).

miffy I'm the same I LOVE my girl's name. I'm scared to share though as I don't want anyone in RL to know and loads of people could prob pick me out here (paranoid!?!?!).

Since you have all reassured me about weight gain, I'm now thinking that my plan is also to walk out hosp, having given birth, in my size 12s! The reassurance has also got me focused on keeping eating healthy. I'd love to be one of those 'only gained 10lbs in preg' people!

Anyone else feel like march will never come!!!!?? Smile
