Thank you for the well wishes! I gave birth to our baby boy just before midnight. Tens was brilliant in early labour. My midwife was amazing. Good luck to those yet to give birth! Haven't slept all night for staring at and cuddling our beautiful baby. I'm in love! :) photo to follow.

DizzyKipper · 13/09/2014 07:31

Bloomin' men slithy. fwiw I didn't have my regular MW at my homebirth with DD, but I found all of the ladies who were there (4 different ones in the end from such a long labour) they were all really lovely and supportive, I couldn't fault a single one for the care I received. I hope you're feeling better today.

Huzzah Coolcat, glad things are finally getting going for you! Smile

And congratulations Missing Thanks

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 13/09/2014 07:44

Massive congrats missing! Well done Thanks

Right, I'm off I'm afraid. I'm tprturing myself and feeling very down about the whole thing so good luck to everyone and hope to see you all on the post natal thread if I ever get there

Cindy5389 · 13/09/2014 08:19

Congratulations Missing!

KatharineClover · 13/09/2014 08:19

Congratulations missing, and good luck CoolCat!
Really hoping today's the day for me, lots of pressure & mild contractions /BHs (although been in this situation for over a week!). Had a date last night with a pineapple, some raspberry leaf tea and even tested my breast pump to check it was functioning in case that helped!
Good luck everyone playing the waiting game x

Topsyloulou · 13/09/2014 08:26

Congratulations Missing.

Good luck Cool Cat.

Had massive rage at DP last night as he woke me up when I was just nodding off. If irrational anger is a sign that labour is impending I'm definitely on the way!

dontevenblink · 13/09/2014 09:06

Congratulations missing! Thanks Look forward to seeing the photo Smile

Good luck coolcat

LH1981 · 13/09/2014 11:47

Posted this to old thread yesterday by accident.

Urgh! Well, I thought I would try to hurry things along by going for a walk. I totally overdid it, and ended up going up a huge hill and walking for about an hour and a half. My feet swelled up, my hands swelled up, my legs got all crampy and worse of all, (and sorry tmi alert) I suddenly have developed a large pile!! It's agony!! Where the hell did it come from??

Have had a tea tree bath and applied some cream - please god let it go away quickly, the idea of giving birth already having piles terrifies me - I thought it was only supposed to happen afterwards?? Nooooooo!

I'm a lot bit despondent at the moment. Have gone from feeling like labour is imminent to feeling like he's never going to come out. I'm so uncomfortable! I went to the hospital on Thursday to try to convince them to do an induction (at 38+4) but to no avail.

OK, pity party over. Must SUCK. IT. UP. !!

LH1981 · 13/09/2014 11:48

Ps - congrats missingcaffeine!! xx

KitKat1985 · 13/09/2014 14:49

Hey all.

Congrats missing.

Just logging on quickly to say baby Jessica born yesterday morning at 4.19am weighing 6lb9oz. Labour very fast - approx. 6 hours. Nearly never made it to delivery suite and no time for any pain relief at hospital, not even gas and airl! Shock Came home last night. We are both well but tired. Trying to get breast feeding established - my nipples are sore! But baby Jesscia is beautiful. Grin xx

lilone1234 · 13/09/2014 15:01

Congrats missing!

Contractions eventually stopped last night and I went to sleep but went in to get checked today due to the leaky fluid. Had a trace done and started having contractions again (and they were able to confirm that they were contractions!) and they checked my waters and they had gone.

I have no idea when they first went though so I just said 5pm yesterday (I actually think it was probably before) and I have to go back in today at 5pm to be induced! So, some progress.

Just wish contractions hadn't stopped last night and we could have continued naturally. DP can only stay til 8pm too unless things have kicked off enough to go to delivery which i'm not pleased about.

zanashar · 13/09/2014 15:08

Congrats to missing and Kitkat!
Hope all goes well Coolcat.
d-day today and nothing new happening, been actual food shopping instead of click and collect to get a walk in and stock up in raspberry lead tea (has this ever worked for anyone out there??)
I've resigned myself to sweep on Friday now, and sleepless nights until then HmmHmmHmm. Anyone else due today had any positive rumblings?

Topsyloulou · 13/09/2014 15:35

Congratulations Kitkat, well done on no pain relief.

That's good news lilone, not much longer to go now. Hopefully things will kick off pretty quickly so DP doesn't need to leave.

RedToothBrush · 13/09/2014 16:02

Many congratulations to you Kitkat.

However I am a bit 'Hmm' at your comment Topsyloulou. Why is it well done on no pain relief? I don't get this idea of why its something to be applauded in the sense that Kitkat didn't get any choice in the matter, any more than anyone who ends up with a EMCS or an instrumental delivery really gets much choice in the matter.

Its one of those things that just happens and everyone should be congratulated on simply giving birth, not how they got there.

I personally did perhaps 'take the easy route' - I'm totally comfortable with my decision. I do however think we should all be more aware of how saying things like 'well done on no pain relief' might impact on women who had a harder time with it, and perhaps do feel like they somehow failed because they had medical intervention. There are a lot of women who do struggle to come to terms with it.

In the majority of cases, its pure luck as to how your birth goes. So why is having no pain relief, more valued as something we should congratulate more?

At the end of the day, we all do what we need to do and what is best for our babies. No more. No less. We just have different wrapping paper.

Congratulations KitKat!

AlwaysandForever09 · 13/09/2014 17:02

Congrats kitkat, missbrightside and missing thats 3 baby Jessicas now! The girls are starting to catch up!
No news from me :( 2 days over, no signs what so ever, going to see if DH will be up for DTD tonight! Hows everyone else doing? Good luck for your induction lilone

polkadotdelight · 13/09/2014 18:10

Congratulations missing and kitkat. I am very jealiys of you kitkat as we were due on the same day and I'm desperate for labour now.

Hope all is going well with you lilone.

polkadotdelight · 13/09/2014 18:11

That should have said jealous!

Topsyloulou · 13/09/2014 19:06

Red, apologies if my comment caused any offence. It certainly wasn't intended to and I am genuinely in awe of anyone that gives birth without pain relief whether intended or not. I will certainly not be one of them and am planning on a tens machine at home, gas and air in the mid wife led unit. If I get induced I'm likely to go for an epidural too. Birth is a very personal thing and an amazing thing and it doesn't matter how it happens etc just the fact that you have given birth to another life is amazing. My comment was purely intended as a well done for managing to get through a quick birth and without pain relief as well.

DizzyKipper · 13/09/2014 19:18

Hi all,

Sorry to say I'm having a bit of a misery guts day today - I'm so down I don't even want to go into labour and am just looking forward to when DD goes to bed as it means I can give up on the day too. Congratulations to all the recent births, it's nice to see a little stint of babies arriving on the thread Thanks And I hope everyone is having a better day than I've had.

slithytove · 13/09/2014 19:44

I'm having another shit day too. So down that I'm post dates now, and it feels like the countdown to then inevitable CS has started.

Gutted isn't the word.

DizzyKipper · 13/09/2014 19:49

I know what you mean slithy, it's hard not to worry. I'll be 41 weeks on Monday and I keep wondering why, what if something's wrong, does this mean I'm heading towards intervention and EMCS? I know lots of women go over and normal pregnancy length can go up to 42, so rationally I really shouldn't worry. But it genuinely feels as though this baby won't ever come out without medical intervention. Time for DD to get to bed, thank goodness I can finally give up on the day!

Beccus · 13/09/2014 20:23

dizzy & slithy, my anxiety has gone into overdrive here, too, stressing about excess fetal movements on wed and fri. I think it's because i can't help thinking something is wrong now I've gone past due date and baby hasn't arrived, even though rationally I know baby is fine in there until at least 42 weeks. I think the other thing making me anxious is not having a review between 38.5 weeks and 41 weeks. I have been fine with the less frequent reviews up until now, but would just like the reassurance of hearing baby's heart beat. slithy, would they not induce you, would u have cs if u were really late?
