topmammy · 26/09/2014 06:45

Just popping over to say congratulations to the new mummies on their arrivals recently and good luck to anyone still waiting :)

Great name choice if I do say so myself misog (that's my name too Wink)

Oxlady · 26/09/2014 09:22

Jemsiem, I am waiting to deliver naturally. So far, I have declined sweeps and induction. After today, I will be having CTGs and a scan to check well being of baby and if all is well, I will continue to wait to go into labour naturally.

Jemsiem · 26/09/2014 11:46

Oxlady oh I'm glad to have someone in the same position as me (though I'm a week behind you!) really do not want to be induced because I want to give birth at home...

Oxlady · 26/09/2014 12:24

Yes, I am planning a home birth too Jemsiem!

Jemsiem · 26/09/2014 13:52

Oxlady are you under a specialist home birth team? Did they say when they would deliver up to? My midwife said she has delivered a baby at 43+3 at home but they are much more cautious about recommending transfer I think.... Had to see a consultant the other day and they were quite pushy about me making a "cut off point" it annoyed me a bit as not even at 41+3 yet to have booked scan....

Jemsiem · 26/09/2014 13:54

Ps is there a reason you refused sweeps? I know it can be considered a type of induction but feel like I'd do it to avoid actual induction and have one booked next week....really like to hear different opinions though...

Oxlady · 26/09/2014 18:39

I am not under specialist home birth team as such but under the care of One to One Midwives and their ethos is that women should be able to choose how and where they birth. My midwife talked to me about all the risks about induction and also not having induction at this stage so I could make an informed decision. She is so supportive, I really couldn't ask for better care. With regards to sweeps, I just feel it's an invasive process and it will only work if your baby is ready anyway and if the baby is ready then I think why bother anyway? IYSWIM?

Jemsiem · 26/09/2014 19:15

Yeah good point... That's like everyone telling me to walk up and down stairs, curries etc- sometimes (actually most of the time) it seems others care about rushing her into coming more than I do.... I obviously can't wait to meet her but think it's more likely to happen when I'm not stressed about it. My birthday tomorrow so maybe we'll end up sharing the day? Can't work out of that will be a good or bad thing! Is it your first baby? So nice to chat to someone in same position..

HippyJess · 26/09/2014 20:04

Thanks cookie Grin it's from Boots, they have tons of awesome bring stuff!

HippyJess · 26/09/2014 21:53

*bright stuff

Oxlady · 26/09/2014 22:44

Yeah, I love that family and friends are excited for us but it is so annoying! Lol. This is my first baby, is this your first too Jemsiem?

Jemsiem · 26/09/2014 23:31

Yes it's my first baby too- Feels like it's just us left here!

velvetlilithi · 27/09/2014 01:16

Just to quickly add, Baby boy Christian born on Monday 22/9 (39+2) at 11:13 am, 3.44 kg and 55cm. Ended with emergency c section when 7cm dilated as found out he was breach after all and had to get out immediately. He's healthy happy boy, just struggling with breastfeeding as when we got home on Wednesday started to refuse breast and I'm now forced to express for each feed (doing just now).

Will try to catch with posts later. If I missed anyone else having babies, congrats Smile

Topsyloulou · 27/09/2014 01:49

Baby Rory was born at 3.18pm today , exactly 2 weeks late, via emergency c-section. He weighed in at a very healthy 9lb 8.5oz. No wonder he hadn't wanted to come out, he'd never have made it naturally.

Have managed one really good feed & one not so good, think he was too tired & not really interested. He's also had antibiotics for a possible infection which is probably affecting his appetite.

Oxlady · 27/09/2014 02:05

Congratulations Velvet and Topsy!

TeamEponine · 27/09/2014 02:26

Congrats velvet and topsy!

Just thought I'd mention that it is well worth getting a c belt, it has made such a huge difference to my section recovery. You can get them from amazon on next day delivery. X
