Wow congratulations :)

CumbrianExile · 23/09/2014 11:00

Congrats everyone who has had babies recently.

Hippy we nearly called our little boy Zach, it was on our short list. Love the name, but he didnt 'look' like a Zach when he was born Smile

Salene · 23/09/2014 13:53

Week baby Robert was born at 1359 yesterday weight 8lb 9oz , he was 2 days early.

So I went in at 5pm Sunday night to be induced. They looked at me at 11pm and did a sweep and put pessary in.

I woke at 5 am with a crampy belly went to toilet and found waters where leaking, started getting contractions about 7am, which where making me sick with the pain, they gave me patacetamol which came back up 5 mins later. She examined me and pessary had fell out and I was 2cm, but she did not need to reinsert one.

So she gave me morphine and anti sickness jab at 9am and I went in the bath which was great till about 11am then I was getting very sore , being sick and dizzy.

Got out bath she examined me and I was 4cm and ready to go to labour ward, got to labour ward at 11.45am and was on G&A .

They examined me and I was not fully 10cm and baby was on his way he appeared at 1359

She said active labour was 49mins which was very quick for first baby and induction.

I got a 2nd degree tear, which need stiched. Got home later that day and me and baby fine

Not sore at all today which I'm shocked about and just away out to take baby a walk in pram

So my induction story is very positive. Looks like I was freaking out over nothing the whole experience was not bad at all.

Salene · 23/09/2014 13:53

Wee not week**

Salene · 23/09/2014 13:55

I was fully NOW fully dilated. (Should say). Not - not

DizzyKipper · 23/09/2014 15:27

Baby boy born last night, and we're now home safe and sound.

Contractions from Sunday had died down but not quite stopped by Monday, prob 1 every 30mins - all the ball bouncing and walking around in the world couldn't get them to speed up again! We got to hospital at 8am but due to various issues and emergencies they couldn't induce us until 5.15pm when they broke my waters. This really kicked up the contractions and I was taken onto the labour ward at 8pm (where they found I was still only 3cm despite all the pain!). That said in less than 2.5hrs I got to 10 and within 15mins of pushing he was out. Managed to avoid the drip. No health issues whatsoever, baby is a healthy weight (and tbh I'm not sure I could physically grow babies any bigger than he came out!).

And polka it was a surprise that the fluid levels were low, I'd had no trickling and my waters were still in fact intact when I was induced. The consultant said that water levels reduce naturally as the pregnancy progresses as there's less and less room.

zanashar · 23/09/2014 15:28

Hi everyone! Just feeling back to normal after water breaking @ 0030 on Thursday just as I was dozing off to sleep. Contractions began pretty much straight away so they asked me to go in to triage to get checked over. Got there at 0300. By 0400 contractions were getting stronger (I'd had a sweep and was 3cm dilated) and abt 5 mins apart. They gave me option of going home or being admitted to antenatal ward. I chose the latter, thinking that being 5 mins apart I couldn't be too far from the end point ( so wrong!) started using Tens about that time too.
The contractions slowed down :-/ but I wasn't allowed home as I was approaching 24 hrs since membrane rupture and risk of infection increase ps thereafter.
Told I had to stay on antenatal ward until there was a spot free on Delivery Suite (bang goes my hopes for a water birth in the MLU birthing suite next door :-()
Friday 2000 - finally get sent to Delivery Suite where I am allowed anything stronger than co-dydramol, and put on Syntocinin drip to increase frequency and intensity of contractions (which haven't actually stopped in all that time!)
Hit active labour at 0100 on Saturday with help of G&A, and had to succumb to Pethidine too ( which sent me loopy and convinced me that I'd delivered the baby and that DH and MW were hiding her from me - pmsl now but was convinced of this!)
By the time I'm meant to start pushing, I've been having contractions for over 48 hours and am exhausted. Baby is also face up making matters a little trickier.
End up insisting that me alone pushing is not going to bring this lil one out and am getting v worried about baby being distressed now.
So, espiostomy and ventouse delivery to bring baby Zaynah Rebecca into the world @ long last @ 0520 on Saturday 20th September weighing 8lb 5oz.
Walking like a cowboy in a spaghetti western now and wanted a water birth with just Tens and Gas and Air but just glad she's finally here exactly 7 days after her due date, I'd go through it all again!

Now to catch up on what I've missed on this thread!

Three new babies! Congratulations salene, dizzy and zanashar!

Im still wating, will be 41 weeks tomorrow and had another attempted (but failed) sweep today.

misog2000 · 23/09/2014 20:04

We are home now, we got kept in a bit longer than planned as Emily keeps being sick after feeding but I think some of it is me not being that good at winding her etc and she has filled plenty of nappies so they let us go eventually.

Birth story - I went into the labour ward to be induced as planned as my waters had started trickling the night before, arrived about 6.30 and had gel at 7.30, midwife said I was 1cm at that point and they would check me again at 1.30.

Pottered around my room, bounced on ball a bit with period type pains low down but nothing else and then stood up about 12.30am to a definite 'pop' and a gush of bloody waters. Pressed the buzzer and told the HCA who said she would send the midwife in. Started having contractions from then but only really low down, they were getting stronger and closer together until I only had about 30 seconds between them, I asked a couple of times to see the midwife, getting more and more desperate until about 1.15 she arrived and offered me some co-codamol to tide me over until I was in active labour! At this point I broke down and said if I wasn't even in active labour and it hurt this much I needed an epidural as I couldn't take much more I couldn't believe it could hurt this much and only just be getting going (turns out I was right). She got me some gas and air but it didn't really make much difference.

She asked me to get on the bed so she could put the monitor on and I said "I know I can't possibly need to push as I'm not even in labour yet......but I feel like I need to push!" PJ trousers whipped off and cries of 'can we have a delivery tray' swiftly followed as did baby Emily at 1.34 after about 8 mins of pushing. I have a 2nd degree tear which has some stitches but feel pretty good considering how quick and intense it got at the end. The silly thing was once I realised it was time to push, and the pain wasn't going to get much worse I found I could cope no problem with just a few puffs of gas and air, shows you how much difference fear makes to how well you can cope with something.

The midwife said they would normally expect it to take at least two lots of gel before a first time mum even goes into labour, they might pay attention a bit quicker next time someone makes a fuss earlier than that though!

Topsyloulou · 24/09/2014 08:45

Today is finally the day! Just called the maternity unit and they have a bed for me so I'm going in to be induced at 1pm. The next 4 hours are going to drag but not too much longer to wait now until I meet the little man.

misog2000 · 24/09/2014 09:16

Good luck Topsy

polkadotdelight · 24/09/2014 09:24

September 2014 - Where are all the girls?!
zanashar · 25/09/2014 12:34

Congrats misog2000, I think Zaynahs abs perfect too!
And hippyjess, what a lovely name! ( it was on our shortlist , (I love"Z"names ) if we'd had a boy! )
Thinking of everyone still waiting patiently. Smile

Snafu33 · 25/09/2014 19:56

Congrats to all those with little ones! I'm very jealous now-am I the only one left??

polkadotdelight · 25/09/2014 20:23

Nope snafu my waters have gone but Im still here....

The thread is much quieter now though!

Jemsiem · 25/09/2014 20:54

I'm still here- actually don't mind waiting too much apart from the induction talks- think she'll come when she's ready... BUT cannot cope with the messages/ calls etc some from people I never really speak to asking for news! As if I won't tell people when I have a baby... My mum in particular is being quite ridiculous- I know she's excited but still....

Oxlady · 25/09/2014 21:42

I'm still here too! Will be 2 weeks overdue tomorrow!

Jemsiem · 25/09/2014 22:22

Do you have a plan Oxlady or just waiting to deliver naturally?
