Thanks guys.

Hippy jess did it hurt getting pessary in..? I've read conflicting things, some say it's really sore others you don't feel it.

I'm panicking about everything as you can see .

HippyJess · 21/09/2014 12:39

It wasn't too bad, a tad worse than the sweeps/other examinations but that was mainly because of her knuckles jamming into my pelvis as she tried to reach far enough! So could've been a lot worse, didn't hurt per se :)

oneofthosenicemuslims2015 · 21/09/2014 16:08

Hi all, 6 days overdue here with DC3 (due date was sept 15th), no signs of anything happening, in fact I think baby is getting quite cosy in there! Induction booked for next weekend at 40 + 13.
Have repacked hospital bag three times now, cooked a lot of spicy food, eaten a lot of Haribo and am now running out of things to do ignores all the cleaning that is still left as nesting seems to have passed me by this time around
Congrats to all the mommas and hope everyone else is hanging in there ok Thanks

DizzyKipper · 21/09/2014 20:11

Thought I'd update quickly. We were rescanned by the actual scanner who says he's not concerned about the fluid levels although there's not much left - he said this is normal when you go over term. Ditto the baby's growth, he thinks it's an expected size at this stage considering I'm quite a small build. However he did say there's an increased risk of the cord getting squished during labour since there's no fluid any more to cushion it, and recommended being in hospital for the birth. We agreed to an induction tomorrow first thing as I'm now considered higher risk and I was given a 4th sweep - twas the most painful one I've experienced to date!

Got home and I've been having contractions since around 3pm, they were around 3 in 10 but seem to have fizzled out to every 6mins so I'll be trying my best to get some sleep and we'll be heading into hospital first thing as planned.

Beccus · 21/09/2014 20:45

hope u r feeling ok dizzy, sounds like u guys feel like this is the best option, rather than something u felt pressured into, which is great. good luck!

Beccus · 21/09/2014 20:46

good luck to salene & hippy as well, hope those inductions are going well

misog2000 · 21/09/2014 20:48

I've got a scan in the morning to check all is ok with baby after going in due to reduced movement on Saturday. Fingers crossed everything is ok and the Dr will sign me off as still ok for my home birth, I know it's not a disaster if I have to go into the hospital it's just not what I had planned.

polkadotdelight · 21/09/2014 21:31

Wishing you all the best dizzy, do you mind me asking, have you bern trickling fluid or was it a suprise that the fluid was low? I only ask because of what you said about the cord being squished if fluid levels are low (something new for me to worry about).

HippyJess · 22/09/2014 01:45

Woken up by a contraction an hour and a half ago, they've been about 4 mins apart and a minute long ever since. And also - ouch! Think my waters might be leaking, being monitored at the moment... Eek!

Salene · 22/09/2014 05:25

Ooo good luck HippyJ might be a baby soon - yaaa :-)

I eventually got pessary and a sweep at 11pm last night, had a wee bit of sore belly over night but no sign of anything really happening yet.

misog2000 · 22/09/2014 07:20

Good luck to everyone who is in labour or in the process of induction. I'm not even at my due date yet so will probably be a while till it join you. Anyone else late Sept and feeling like it could be a while yet?

Oxlady · 22/09/2014 07:28

I was due on 12th September and still waiting! But happy to wait for my little baby. :)

TeamEponine · 22/09/2014 09:49

Congrats to those of you who are now enjoying baby cuddles, and good luck to those whose babies are due to arrive soon. Especially thinking of those of you who are overdue Flowers

misog2000 · 22/09/2014 10:07

I'm being admitted to be induced, fluid reduced around the baby. I had a feeling I was leaking a little last night but as I knew I was coming here today and it was clear didn't worry. All my plans out the window Sad but as long as baby arrives safe that's the main thing. Hubby at work, I've told him not to rush as I reckon it will be a while before anything actually happens. Thank goodness I picked my kindle up on the way out the door this morning.

misog2000 · 22/09/2014 11:03

They have just come back and said they are full up so are letting me go home and come back tomorrow morning to be induced, fingers crossed I start contracting on my own before then (although they said I still have to come in even if that happens) as then I can avoid the induction bit.

HippyJess · 22/09/2014 11:04

So baby Zach arrived this morning at 5.45am and, after all the fuss about him being "big", is 6lb 14oz Grin

Please note that the following is NOT in any way a typical induction story and I was rather unlucky...

I went from first proper contraction at 12.15am to being 10cm at around 4.30am so it was really fast. By the end contractions were coming so fast that neither of us had enough time to recover properly so he had to be given a hand with forceps - which had been my worst nightmare! But I had bigger things to worry about - it was so speedy that I did a very fast labour complete with forceps and a second degree tear on - drumroll please - 2 paracetemol! Shock This is catagorically not something I would recommend! I screamed a lot and now my throat hurts Blush

So lots of stitches and DH was a bit traumatised by it all but the staff were amazing at keeping me focused in spite of the extreme pain and now I feel absolutely fine and am so so happy :) can't believe how lucky I am and it's really true that you forget the bad bits as soon as you hold your baby :)

Congratulations Jess. Hope you are both doing ok.

Good luck miss, hopefully your little one will be here soon.

Serotonin · 22/09/2014 16:08

So my birth story then:

woke up to a contraction Saturday at about 7.10am and could feel my waters leaking at the same time. DS told me he had an itchy back - and lo and behold, had the pox. Contractions started getting regular around 9 am and almost unbearable so went in to be monitored and to check to see if waters were leaking. Midwife checked the fluid - clear and deffo waters, but contractions slowed right down being in hospital so they said I could either go home and wait or get induced there and then. I decided that I wanted to go home, as soon as I got in the car contractions came back! left the hospital at 11.30am, laboured at home until contractions were taking my breath away with the tens machine making no difference and my sister took me back in at about 2.30pm. called my DP who was at work to come in. The only delivery room available was the pool room
so was examined and 4 cm dilated. hind waters had gone and forewaters still present.

I got on the gas and air and stayed mobile, laughing with my lovely midwife, sister and DP about how funny my voice sounded! at about 4 pm the contractions had ramped up so we decided to go in the pool and it was AMAZING! I immediately felt more relaxed Smile

Then after a couple of massive contractions I felt the urge to bear down and my waters popped, swiftly followed by a head - and I panicked a bit because it was so painful and sudden but everyone calmed me down so well I managed to get her body out in the next push and she was delivered onto my chest as my sister watched (from the business end) and my partner was cuddling me.

There was thick meconium in the waters but we were both fine, she was 8.3 and no stitches - just some grazing Grin

we were kept in overnight for monitoring and she has taken to breastfeeding like a pro.

was discharged Sunday at lunchtime so stopped off for a mcdonalds for lunch and went home to my mums for some rest and to wish her a happy birthday! currently asleep in my arms at home!

polkadotdelight · 22/09/2014 17:08

Wow thats a lovely birth story! Congratulations on your new bundle.

misog2000 · 22/09/2014 20:43

Been called back in as ward was quiet tonight. Had first gel at 7.30pm so just waiting now to see if that does anything, fingers crossed. Midwife said I was already 1cm when she examined me so hopefully baby was already on their way and this will just speed the process along.

misog2000 · 23/09/2014 04:08

Baby Emily arrived at 1.34 tonight weighing 7lb 3oz Smile she is now happily snoozing away while I'm buzzing on adrenaline! Birth story to follow when we are home, hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

polkadotdelight · 23/09/2014 05:42

Yay! Congratulations misog!

Topsyloulou · 23/09/2014 08:15

Congratulations misog, lovely news to wake up to.
