OP posts:

Another one here holding up their hands to admit denial (lol)
However there has finally been some progress today.

The crib and car seat were delivered today, we best get building it. -also finally washed some of the baby clothes and put some stuff in the hospital bag.

I feel like I'm coming down with something throat slightly sore and lymph nodes tender please no I've only just got over a cold!

Bumpforme2014 · 15/09/2014 21:57

What did you guys use to store your batch cooking, freezer bags or containers? Did you make and freeze components separately or just freeze entire meal (split into portions) ?

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 22:06

I haven't needed support at appointments really. I expect if there had been issues I'd have asked him to come. He came to final growth scan for example - that's the one for me where decisions might have to have been made regards breech, ecv, size etc. All was fine though.

After the contraction and period pain panic of last weekend, I've banned sex until after a mortgage meeting on Thursday! After that we're going for it in operation eviction.

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 22:08

Bump - I always do freezer stuff in bags, just cos we don't have loads of containers hanging around. Even soup - just grab a bag of it on my way out the door.

Kirstipops · 15/09/2014 22:09

Thanks Stigz and Missus, think I was having a silly moment earlier! I'll try not to worry until I'm given reason to and just enjoy the bonus peek at the baby (and hope baby doesn't wave a fanjo or willy and let the cat outta the bag!)

On my way to my appointment a woman in labour and her hubbie got in the lift in front of us, she stood there with her eyes closed almost the whole time while her husband stood bewildered next to her with a clear plastic carrier bag with what appeared to be her pyjamas and some baby clothes in it, made me blush to think of my overpacked hospital bag!!

Has anyone had a membrane sweep and it worked? Just wondering if there is any point in me getting the proferred sweep when I'll be 39+2 when i'm maybe not quite um "ripe" yet, or if I should hold off until the next available clinic when I'll be 41+2? Got my Seven Seas Evening Primrose oil capsules, also wondering if they'll work! MW today said there's certainly no harm in it and they're worth a shot.

Kirstipops · 15/09/2014 22:13

Me23 I put the entire meals I cooked into individual portions (4 portions worth of each meal) in metal takeaway containers from Home Bargains. I've got about 12 nights of meals good to go and had to stop before I ran out of room in the freezer!

Pregnantagain7 · 15/09/2014 22:16

Thanks all, makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one in denial.
I have put a time limit on it all now by the end of this weekend I WILL be ready! Grin

gunwalloe · 15/09/2014 22:18

kirsti on all my growth scans they've asked before they start if I knew what I was having I presume to warn me to look away at the right moment. If you tell them you don't know the sex as you go in I'm sure they will hide the bits from you.

Mrsthedog · 15/09/2014 22:20

Bump - we have an embarassing large number of plastic takeaway containers so I tend to portion off bolognese sauce, curry etc. in those. I have also made a whole shepherd 's pie in a pyrex dish with a lid so we can take it out and put it in the fridge before we leave for the hospital and then it will be defrosted and ready to provide comfort food for when we get back.
My mum has been commissioned to make me a lasagne too for the freezer - Hers is the best.

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 22:22

Same here - never seen bits, they tell me/us to look away. The cool stuff on growth scans is seeing hands and feet waving away as you feel them moving, in my opinion.

mrsb87 · 15/09/2014 22:26

bump the majority of mine is in freezer bags in individual portions. We don't have a huge amount of space in our freezer so I've found that the most economical space wise. Soups, bolognese, sausage casserole and stew.

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 22:32

Is anyone else getting loads of lower bump pain? Lower bump region anyway? I can't work out the source of it - could just be pressure and weight, could be digestive, could be period pain. I don't feel hunger anymore because it's all just mixed up in bump pain.

gunwalloe · 15/09/2014 22:42

Not getting particular pains in lower bump apart from Braxton hicks which start every time I walk more than 2 mins it's driving me mad!
I had some strange stitch like feelings at the sides of my bump tonight

YellowWellies · 15/09/2014 22:49

I'm seriously considering taking up my CM's offer of her old freezer for £20. I hope she hasn't tipped it. Ours is rammed to the rafters and I would like to have some more dairy free meals batch cooked. We could fit the freezer in our outhouse. Think I might ask her tomorrow. If I have to go dairy free again it's not as simple as just sticking a pizza in the oven. I also need to stock up on Sacla chargrilled aubergine pesto as that's dairy and soy free and is another easy meal.

We too have a stash of takeaway containers. Well we did. We use them for freezing toddler meals for J to take to the CM. Maybe that's nature telling me to eat lots of takeaway curry and chinese over the next few nights? Grin

binkybunny · 15/09/2014 23:15

bump I've used a mix of foil containers from Lakeland, plastic take away tubs and freezer bags depending on what I've cooked and frozen.

goats lots of lower bump pain if I've been on my feet lots bit had really bad cramps yesterday after spending it Sat down or sleeping on the sofa.

Had a fun evening with DH, learning different nappy folds. Think we need to practice on a wriggly baby though, it was quite easy on a teddy Smile

Off to bed now, hoping I get to sleep before dh gets up at 5.30 Hmm

ExcitedCJ · 16/09/2014 02:33

That was not fun! Woke up feeling a little wonky & measured my blood sugars to find out I was .1 away from an out of range low. Just very shakily eaten 2 Colin Caterpillars & had to wait for them to kick in before trying to venture downstairs for 1/2 banana & a teaspoon of peanut butter! Not my normal requirements for a midnight (2am) feast but at least I got to taste refined sugar in whatever small quantity! Head is now pounding & I'm knackered. GD sucks!

gunwalloe · 16/09/2014 04:41

I hope your ok cj and back in the land of nod I'm just up for my 4am wee

SweetPeaPods · 16/09/2014 05:09

Anyone know if a cough and cold can trigger labour? Think I've got a stupid chest infection Hmm going to phone dr 2mrw not sure if I can even have antibiotics?
DS full of cold too so he's pretty grumpy.
Must get hospital bag properly packed. Started on baby washing this week so getting little more organised.
I can't remembered who but someone asked about a sweep at 39w appt. round here they will only give a sweep after 40w but I know some areas will offer it earlier so worth checking.

binkybunny · 16/09/2014 06:11

Woo hoo had my once a week experience of sleeping right through the night, 6 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Feeling good Grin

excited hope you managed to get back off to sleep and your sugars are ok?

sweetpea not sure, but I don't think a cough would trigger labour and there are def pregnant safe antibiotics.

My concern this morning is that my baby is turning round or getting higher again. She's been head down and the right way since week 28 and last week was 2/5 palpable. This morning I've had no pressure on my bladder but I feel like I have a small bowling ball to the right hand side of my body and another to the left. I'm worried she has gone traverse and this is her head and bum. MW appointment not til Friday so going to be doing lots of gym ball leaning and sitting the next few days!

Kirstipops · 16/09/2014 06:54

Thanks Sweetpea, was surprised to be offered a sweep at my next appointment but as my clinic is closed the following week when I'm 40 weeks I suppose that's why! Just not sure whether i shouldcount myself "lucky" and take them up on it since a few preggos I'm aware of had to practically beg for one?

Kirstipops · 16/09/2014 06:57

CJ I hope you got your munchies and back off to sleep!
Sweetpea also meant to add that my pregnant friend had a course of antibiotics a couple of weeks ago for a urine infection so hopefully doc will give you them if you need them :)

fedupofrainydays · 16/09/2014 07:10

Baby boy arrived this morning at 4.15. Weighing in 6lb 1oz. LOVE him.

binkybunny · 16/09/2014 07:22

Congratulations fed up I'm so pleased for you, enjoy your snuggles! Smile x

ohthegoats · 16/09/2014 07:24

Yay! Congratulations fedup! And not even that tiny for being early, how cool. Hope everything is ok with the both of you.

BadgerInBury · 16/09/2014 07:28

So jealous binky. Every night for the last week I've woken with carpal tunnel syndrome and it's getting worse and worse. Ouch ouch ouch. Hurts so much I kept dreaming I was giving the dog a bath in boiling water. I ended up getting up at 5:30 to soak my hand in ice water for 45 mins. Anyone else having this? Any ideas how to reduce it?
