Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bumpforme2014 · 15/09/2014 17:21

Sounds pretty grim fedup, hope things speed up soon. Good luck!

mrsb87 · 15/09/2014 17:29

Oh fedup at least they are looking after you. Thinking of you! Hopefully you'll get to see your baby soon xx

PunkyBubba · 15/09/2014 17:42

Thanks Pregnantagain, there are so many mixed stories on the net it's comforting to hear from someone more directly, with a positive outcome (if that makes sense). I'm actually hoping it is GD as I will be less worried then that it might be due to something wrong with baby!

FedUp, thinking of you and hoping your baby is safely in your arms soon. I know it's not the ideal situation but it will all work out. Just try to forget the other stuff and concentrate on you and baby.xx. Thanks

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 17:49

I'm so antsy today, just can't settle to anything. Stupid boss told me 4 months ago, and last Wednesday that I didn't need to hand my laptop in for the year, so I didn't take my stuff off it. Got in this morning to be asked to hand over laptop to new bloke 'because he needs it', well yes you plank, that's why I asked last week if you wanted it back.

Meant that all the work I had planned for today didn't happen because I had no laptop. And all the work I have planned for the rest of the week probably won't happen either. What's the point in being there? Just twiddling my thumbs until Friday. Stuuuuupid.

Which has effed up my whole mood really... I desperately want to get a load of stuff finished by Friday WITHOUT a baby arriving - if I don't get stuff finished I'll end up going in next week to do it, which I'm not keen on, and then I'll be worrying about it the whole time too. Raaah, nothing in that place is easy. Correction - nothing organised by my boss is easy.

In a right raaah-ey mood... would normally go for a run or drink a fat gin and tonic or something to wear it off, but obviously that's not going to happen. Grrrr.

Kirstipops · 15/09/2014 17:50

Feelgood films - It's a Wonderful Life (only film that makes me cry happy tears!) and Amelie are the top two I can think of just now. Fly Away Home too, appeals to the tree-hugger in me. For laughs I'd watch Anchorman and Father Ted!

Fedup I really hope things pick up for you soon, it won't be for much longer now, maybe you'll get going tonight as you say; I'm thinking warm happy oxytocin thoughts for you!

Had my 38 week check with midwife which was interesting, BP and urine all fine, but when she measured my bump (she's only the 2nd possibly 3rd at a push midwife to use a tape measure), she said I was measuring at 35 weeks, she's measured me before a few months ago and I was bang on for my dates then. Baby is not engaged but "on the brim". She reckons my bump is "the right size for [me]", I'm just not going to carry a bruiser, and when she asked my birth weight (5lbs 12oz at my mum's 38 weeks) she seemed OK with that, then she went off for the usual liaison with the consultant at the end of my appointment - and when she came back she had booked me in for a growth scan tomorrow Shock ! I'll be honest, my first thought was "whoooop-another-scan-I-get-to-see-baby-again!!!" especially since the mw was saying there's nothing to worry about, but of course now i've had time to dwell on it..hmmm.....someone give me a wee shake and tell me not to worry!

She also said she'd like me to come in for another check next Monday (22nd), and as the clinic is closed on the following Monday for the September bank holiday weekend (29th, 2 days after my due date), that I could choose to have a sweep on the 22nd if I want Shock Eek! All of a sudden it all seems so realer than real!

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 17:56

Yeah Kirstie, I sort of ignored the 'book an appointment for a sweep' comments and wandered out the clinic without booking one. All too real.

I should try and get a Drs appointment this week I think, just in case. Would quite like to know level of engagement if nothing else.

Missus2ndwife · 15/09/2014 18:08

Oh Fedup, at least you're in safe hands but I can understand how frustrated you must be. Have you offered BO woman any perfume?
Saying that, you might have a baby in your arms in the next couple of days! Whoo hoo

Kirsti - I personally think the measuring thing is a bit of a joke. Everyone is different and then depending on bubba's position this too can change the measurements. I've always had a tummy so will always measure big and yet, for my size I'm actually not that big. Well this is my opinion and I'm sticking too it Wink

I also feel grumpy today and will try not pick a fight with hubby over his family later Blush

STIGZ · 15/09/2014 18:47

Mrs dino read about your hospital experience ... Wow that was enough to put your blood pressure up on its own !!

Fedup thinking of you, i realise how anxious you must be about ds aswell

Kirstie try not to worry until they scan you, they probz just have procedure to follow! Easier said than done i know... I panic about everything and anything ... I really dont enjoy pregnancy as i worry too much.

MrsDinoRawr · 15/09/2014 19:44

Am hoping after a week of maternity leave it will be back to normal wed when they check.

Goats - that is sooo annoying about your laptop. Also had much respect for you teaching for last couple of weeks. I didn't have my own class when I went back but covered some classes in the mornings... Hard work!!

Anyone else's baby having a party. Mine will not stop moving! She is back to back and the limbs moving across my stomach are sooo uncomfortable!!!

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 19:52

Anyone else's baby having a party.

Yep, it's really uncomfortable. All under my ribs. The laptop started it, but everything has ended up annoying me today - even searching optimistically for ski holidays isn't cheering me up much - and the baby is really going for it in the booting me department. Poor thing, just trying to stretch, pissing off its mother.

Bumpforme2014 · 15/09/2014 20:02

Yup last couple of days she wriggles all day long. I only really feel her legs/feet around my belly button as she head down but my gosh she so strong now, proper karate kicks. I thought movement was meant to slow down by this point?

Lulu298 · 15/09/2014 20:23

My laugh out loud films are Meet the Parents and Bridesmaids. And for feelgood films, anything with a happy ending - was watching Sweet Home Alabama yesterday.

ExcitedCJ · 15/09/2014 20:29

Lulu I agree Bridesmaids is a real laugh.
My NCT Bednest arrived today & I am sooooo excited! I can't wait to have my DS nestled snug & sound in it, hopefully by the end of the week! :)

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 20:43

cj - I'm saving putting the crib up until Thursday night - almost last day of work, and boyfriend away. I'm going to get all the sheets on it and everything, even though there won't be anything in it another week at least, and there might be plaster dust everywhere. Ah well, I just want to see it all together.

Pregnantagain7 · 15/09/2014 20:59

Ok I need a big fat fish slap.
My name is pregnantagain7 I am 36 year old mother of three so why the hell can't I finish sorting the babies room and pack my hospital bag? I just can't, I feel like I've gone into total denial and that if I finish of all the little things I still have to do the baby will come.

Err well yes that's the idea you are 36 weeks pregnant and about to have a baby.

So why do I want to run away screaming and hide Confused Blush

mrsb87 · 15/09/2014 21:04

Lulu "Miracle on 34th St" is another classic . as Is "sleepless in seatle". "The women" is another easy watching film too.

ExcitedCJ · 15/09/2014 21:05

Goats get excited, it is a beautiful crib. I have the fitted sheets on a boil wash right now & my prep tomorrow is to wash all my bed sheets so everything will be 1 day fresh.
I will dress the bednest on Wed before I head to the hospital. I have a lambskin to put in it & a little baby pillow. Eeeeee!! So excited.
My fab MIL & I spent the entire day cleaning the house from top to bottom, you could eat your dinner off any surface. We are all ready for visitors, might turn my hand to making some BFing cookies tomorrow if I get a chance between getting my fanjo waxed & nails done & a monitoring appt at the EOU. It's all very real! :)

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 21:08

if I finish of all the little things I still have to do the baby will come

I'm exactly the same. No mattress for moses basket or bassinet, can't be arsed to measure them or order them. Only one pack of nappies, hospital bag un-added-to since week 31 - can't remember what's in it now. I'm thinking that first contraction will focus my mind!

gunwalloe · 15/09/2014 21:30

pregnant I have 8 days until the cs and can't seem to get motivated to pack my bag, the crib is in the loft the house is a mess it's like I'm in denial

clairemiss79 · 15/09/2014 21:33

pregnantagain7 i can totally relate to what you are saying about denial. This is my 4th and I've been excited all through my pregnancy but just these last few days I'm bricking it. I feel as if I've changed my mind and can't bring myself to pack my hosp bag and the babys stuff just won't get sorted! I think I'd rather just stay preg :)

gunwalloe · 15/09/2014 21:33

cabster and punky good luck for your GTTs tomorrow GD is a pain in the arse but if your diagnosed they will look after you and you will have a reason for the excess fluid

cabster · 15/09/2014 21:37

Aw cheers gun and thanks pregnant for your insights earlier. What I really would like to avoid is being induced next week as I just don't feel ready yet but what will be will be! Got a book in my bag and my breakfast butties in the fridge :)

punky see you on the other side!

FlipFantasia · 15/09/2014 21:38

Pregnant I could write that post! Except I'm turning 37 on Wed and this is my third...bits and bobs all over the shop and no motivation to sort it all out (the friend who has my co-sleeper must be sick of asking when she can drop it round!). I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and am merrily sailing up a river called denial!

Excited sounds like lovely nesting/sorting going on! Fresh sheets, waxing, bfing cookies. Bring on the gorgeous baby!!

Slide hope all is going well and you're resting up after your marathon labour!

YellowWellies · 15/09/2014 21:46

CJ yes the lambskin - DS was so cosy in his bednest and slept like a dream on his lambskin - I was convinced it helped him regulate his temperature too when he was very tiny. Must dig out the bednest sheets this week.

I'm procrastinating on sorting out the neutral baby grows from the vacuum bags under the guest bed. I HATE folding baby grows. Vests are ok, but baby grows are so bliddy fiddly. Would it be wrong to not do this and force the task onto DH for after the baby's born and when I'm still in hospital?Grin

Slide lovely news. Enjoy your peedie manny. He sounds very very beautiful. You did such a good job!

Fedup good luck chicken. At least this way you are not even tempted to be project managing a building site. Hope the blokes can sort that shit out in your absence - you have more important things to focus on.

Gun seats deteriorate especially when exposed to heat and cold extremes - the plastic will have become brittle. Don't use it!

Binky - half hour walks will do you the world of good. Poles will help you to feel safe too. I agree with the others sub zero BF is fine if you layer right but sub zero nappy changes would risk hypothermia to the baby so if you get a poonami you just have to turn round. The risk of leaking poo coating you through layers of clothes and a sling will probably help with reaching a personal best in terms of speed on any walk!

Goats - why hasn't he come to any of your appointments? You've had loads didn't you want any support?

I had a work meeting in Stirling, 50 miles away today so off I went on the train with my notes in hand. I think the other participants were convinced I was about to pop. I've never had so many comments (in either pregnancy) about how dinky I am and how the bump just looks 'stuck on'. Thank you GD for the fact I no longer look like a house Envy.

DH and I DTD last night and my god the amount of mucus plug that I lost today was Shock.

Growth scan and CTG monitoring tomorrow. My first of three hospital visits for the week. Is it bad that having an hour attached to the monitor with a good book (am loving Donna Tartt's Goldfinch, and can totally agree with the poster who recommended Kate Atkinson's Life after Life - loved that book) is some of the best R&R I have all week? DH is taking my tablet to hopefully get the screen fixed tomorrow after I dropped it. Hope it's ready in time for night feed duty!

gunwalloe · 15/09/2014 21:48

cabster my hospitals policy is 38 weeks induction or cs if your on insulin or 39 weeks if your diet controlled. I've been lucky and have stayed diet controlled. You may have another week fingers crossed.
