"Leverage" - lovely mental image there goats Grin. I also agree your DP could do with you having some phantom contractions (like, tonight, while he's potentially squiffy, so it'll give him the fear!)

Missus2ndwife · 14/09/2014 23:12

Selfishly I'm glad I'm not the only one who's OH is still drinking like a fish! I am only 33+5 but keep saying 'what if we have an emergency'
I also thought I was a mean cow for moaning how he smells of booze constantly. It's really not sexy

ohthegoats · 14/09/2014 23:24

I haven't said anything about the booze. He brought it up as part of a timing conversation regards house renovations, but I had to bite my tongue. Will mention when not annoyed about it.

I've been keeping bh info and period pain info to myself, but won't from now on. Doula is here again on Tuesday, so that might put the frighteners on him a bit.

ohthegoats · 14/09/2014 23:26

He's never been to a midwife or consultant appointment, so I wonder if that is part of the slightly unengaged vibe I'm getting from him. Have consultant week on Tuesday, maybe he should come.

binkybunny · 15/09/2014 00:21

goats I think it might be a good idea to take him to the consultants and see how he is after. I'm really lucky that DH doesn't really drink much anyway and has only had the odd beer here and there in the last 9 months and is now refusing to drink at all, even with 3 bottles of whisky in the kitchen!

So had our usual telephone call with mil which I dread but because they are so far away we have to make it a regular occurrence. Her and sil have insisted that once baby is born we have to take a video of her everyday either playing, sleeping or bathing. They also want Dh to record the end of labour so they hear baby's first cry. DH thankfully told them that we'll have far too much going on for either of those to happen and the wicked witch insisted we did or he'd be in trouble, after all she can't be here to witness it herself. Like I would have here anywhere near the delivery room anyway Angry. She has also given up her salaried job for a commisikn job that will never pay what has been advertised and sil has spent £900 on a new phone, then complained how they wish they had the money to come and visit, so it looks like they won't be spending Christmas with us. I'm quite relieved but a bit gutted for DH as they always promise to visit but never actually do. God that family drive me insane, so glad they are 6000 miles away!

Ok well rant over, I'm wide awake after my afternoon nap so will prob finish another book tonight!

porcito · 15/09/2014 00:36

Good self control goats, I'd have probably had a frustrated hormonal meltdown.

Mine entered a work contest to go on a free holiday. On Oct 12th (due date Oct 3rd). He couldn't understand why I was pissed off with the idea. He also told me today that his mum will stay for 'as long as I need' after the birth. Oh good. (We already decided that we'll pay for her to stay somewhere nearby so she's not in our tiny apartment with a new baby)

Good luck to all those in hospital and starting labour! Things are starting to get moving!

SlideIn · 15/09/2014 04:33

DS, no name yet, born 2154 on 14/9/14, 4lb 7.5oz. So in love! Smile

50hrs! Waters didn't go properly, then epidural seemed to wear off just as contractions got most intense with Syntocinon at 72.went from 3cm to fully dilated in 40mins. Agony. Then pushing for 90mins. He's gorgeous, natch Wink wasn't squished much on way out as so wee, so no scrunched up face. Will attach pics when home. Some blood sugar and temperature maintenance problems; currently in with me dressed in several layers. Had to be fed some formula after first BF to top up as sugars still very low, Hmm about to try 2nd BF. Latch seems alright, he stayed on for an hr last time. Just so tiny! Poor DP trying to sleep on floor as no recliners. Exhausted and exhilarated! Grin

CellyD · 15/09/2014 05:09

Many congratulations Slide on the arrival of your DS. Looking forward to the pics Smile.

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 05:24

Congratulations slide! 4lbs 7 - aaaw, tiny!

I'm lying here wide awake in blind panic about not wanting to have a baby right now. Or ever. So that's nice. FFS.

SweetPeaPods · 15/09/2014 05:41

Yah congrats slide!
Hope you both get home soon. Thanks

I have a lovely cold/flu virus thanks to ds. Sore throat, chesty cough. And all I can take is paracetamol.... :-( any tips for anything I can take to help sore throat? Not what I want as mum is here to help me get organised so have lots to do next couple of days but at least she can help me with ds while DH at work.

porcito · 15/09/2014 05:56

Congrats Slide!! So happy for you Smile

Hope you manage to get some rest after that monster labour!

Congratulations Slide! Must be worth all the effort to have your little one with you safe and sound!
sweetpeapods try hot honey and lemon- it was my lifesaver in my first trimester when I had killer sore throat.

BingoBango85 · 15/09/2014 06:36

Congrats on your new baby boy!

Awful news about the man killed by IS. Wouldn't down play it ordinarily, but is anyone else finding themselves even more sad/anxious about news like this whilst pregnant? Don't know if it's having a bit if free thinking time when awake peeing in the middle of the night; but feel worried about bringing a baby into a world where there is so much bad stuff. Guess I need to balance this with all the love offered to us this weekend at my baby shower, but feel more overwhelmed than usual.

ExcitedCJ · 15/09/2014 06:48

Yay Slide delighted for you & your DP, what a fantastic prize at the end of such a gigantic labour.
Such a diddy wee man, I am sure he is just the cutest article ever, Much love & warmth to your new little family. Xx

Lulu298 · 15/09/2014 06:51

Congratulations Slide!

Have finally bought a few things for my hospital bag - feel a bit more prepared!

Missus2ndwife · 15/09/2014 06:51

Congrats Slide!! Well done Grin
Looking forward to seeing some pics

I dreamt I was in labour last night... But baby wasn't coming... Great!

MundayCakes85 · 15/09/2014 06:53

Congratulations Slide looking forward to some photos. Well done!
Note to self: don't lie on boob in the night or you'll end up with a wet arm/ sheet/ DH!

bumpbangbump · 15/09/2014 06:54

Go slide!!! Well done and massive congratulations. Our first boy baby. Can't wait to see a pic of the little man. My sil had a boy that was 10lb9 so I can't even imagine a 5lb baby...

ExcitedCJ · 15/09/2014 06:56

Bingo just keep a wee eye on yourself or better still, ask someone else to. A colleague at my work went through a crazy 6 month period of feeling really helpless & overwhelmed by the worlds problems when his son arrived. It started to effect his work & I had to set some dates & goals with him or I was going to arrange counselling & he would have been signed off work. I know this is a pretty extreme case for a DH to have but worth mentioning in case you guys or your DP's feel wobbly.
The guys DW was too occupied with newborn wrangling to realise that her partner was on verge of a serious breakdown.

ohthegoats · 15/09/2014 07:04

bingo I haven't watched the news for a few months. I wasn't getting upset/sad about it, just massively angry. Decided was best to just switch off for awhile. I recommend it!

bugger yeah, the still dark am thoughts are never good! At least today I can come home at 3 and have a nap. Think it's time to go hardcore on the hypnotherapy cd too, see if that helps me sleep better.

mrsb87 · 15/09/2014 07:12

Aw congrats slide!! Can't wait to see pics.

sweet I second the hot honey and lemon. It's what I've been drinking for my throat. I've had a nasty cold for 2 weeks now and it's just not shifting Sad

goats I think I would have had words by now. What's he going to be like with a lo around? He can't just be constantly pissed every night. Sounds like he needs a few home truths to me.

Today is pregnancy massage day woo! Can't wait til 11am SmileGrin

Kirstipops · 15/09/2014 07:17

Awww congratulation Slide, so chuffed for you meeting your little one, 4lbs7 awww!! Looking forward to a pic :)

Bingo my head has just been caught up with referendum news lately which is very smallworld of me! I think it's normal to be wary of what kind of world we being our babies into though, I just need to remind myself that there are plenty of really nice but not newsworthy things happening too :)

fedupofrainydays · 15/09/2014 07:21

Congratulations slide!

I'm so knackered. Been contracting all night so not slept. Just sat on a birth ball and done wonders for the pain.

Reckon it still won't come today. Conflicting emotions really - want it to stay in longer to grow bigger bit also desperate for the pain to end.
