Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

OP posts:

gunwalloe · 12/09/2014 17:46

Cabster during my growth scans it's just round blobs and bones most of the time I have no idea what I'm looking at until the sonographer shouts out the measurement to the assistant

gunwalloe · 12/09/2014 17:47

Grow back not hire back?!

ohthegoats · 12/09/2014 17:49

During my growth scans I've seen fairly clear face shots, but only fleetingly, even if they point them out. Best 'clear bits' are feet and hands. They're cool to see.

Leg hair has been the same as when not pregnant.

binkybunny · 12/09/2014 17:50

clops with the cookie dough you just dollop it onto the sheet rather than roll it out, it's quite sticky. last time I left it in lumps but this time I've flattened it out slightly before sticking it in the freezer so hopefully it'll bake more evenly.

Just been to a baby feeding class and found it really useful, even if we were practising with scary looking dolls. I'm under no illusion it will be so easy with a real life wriggly baby but it was nice to have an idea of how to hold a baby and it was lovely seeing all the other mum to be's again too.

fedupofrainydays · 12/09/2014 18:09

Not sure you can tell from symptoms can you??? I had huge boobs and had a boy? In early preg I'm really hairy with greasy hair and then later on my leg and armpit hair takes ages to grow back (this and last preg)!
If I have a girl then my symptoms were no different but if it's a boy I know no better!

clairemiss79 · 12/09/2014 18:14

I love all the boy/girl theories. I'm having my 4th girl and always massive boobs - gone up about 5 sizes and i always go off the smell of my poor DH. :)

gunwalloe · 12/09/2014 18:18

definitely no science involved just fun to guess, I had boy feelings until 10 weeks when I suddenly felt I knew she was a girl

ExcitedCJ · 12/09/2014 18:21

I am having a boy & boobs have gone from 32 DD to 36 H!
I have had drier hair than normal, I'm a regular grease ball!
Have loved the smell of perfumes, so much so I've been obsessively sniffing myself. Went off perfume with DD.
My bump is all out front, from behind I don't look pregnant, with DD I was everywhere!
I really want some of these cookies you guys are talking about!

gunwalloe · 12/09/2014 18:21

my boobs are the same size ive not been repelled by any smells and its a girl :)

YellowWellies · 12/09/2014 18:25

Gender from symptoms doesn't sound right to me. With my boy my boobs went up 4 sizes and my leg hair stopped growing, and I was repulsed by smells.

Who said they're bump has gone soft? Get your MW to check but that is often a sign baby is back to back as the hard spine is no longer on the outside.

On the stats list could I be moved to 11th Oct for CS / induction please? Smile

Slide best of luck! xx

So, update today is that our impending house move is off for the foreseeable! Very disappointing since we were preparing to move next week. I feel strangely calm about it now though. The problem lies with the people whose house we were trying to buy. Just found out today that they are going through an acrimonious divorce and she's refusing to give permission for the house to be sold until she's negotiated a better slice of the money. Basically holding her STBXH to ransom. I just wish we weren't caught up in the middle of it at a time when baby is due. I just had a thought...maybe we can play that game too - perhaps I should suggest that we knock off 1k for every week they make us wait while they squabble. I don't know if I've got the balls for that but it's an amusing thought. Anyway, we're still in limbo and have no idea how this will pan out or when or if we'll settle into a new home.

I hope everyone else has had a reasonable day

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 12/09/2014 18:46

I was convinced I was having a girl last time, only had 1 boy name ready 'just in case', DH said when he told me it was a boy I said "oh" in a not very excited way! So def try visualising a boy too goats Smile

pinkie - I have my home birth visit on Wednesday, will be thinking of you Tues. The midwife should be dropping off all the bits & my birth pool is being delivered the week after that. Very exciting stuff!

So as I seem to have a knack for introducing random topics - Lactation cookies! Anyone heard of those? They are cookies you can make/buy which contain ingredients to promote breast milk production. Thought I might try them, even if they don't work they are still likely to taste good Grin

clairemiss79 · 12/09/2014 18:49

Sounds good. Any excuse for eating cookies ;)

cabster · 12/09/2014 18:54

madam even if they don't go for it, definitely have your solicitor let them know that their squabbling is pissing you off - she needs to bear in mind that 50% of something is better than 60% of nothing!

I was convinced I was having a boy.... But told myself a few weeks before it was a girl, just in case it was! But it was a boy, I was right!

This time, We have neither name sorted. Taking a huge long list to hospital and will decide when we know the sex and what it looks like!

Agree - never heard of them but eating cookies is always good!

Off on a girls night out tonight. Have zero energy but I've not been out for ages now - and could be my last one for a while so need to make the most of it! DH is at home with the plumber making smoke and huge scary clunky noises with all the pipes. Just hope he can get ds to bed with all that going on!

bumpbangbump · 12/09/2014 19:28

Think I've added those who needed adding. Not going to be back on the laptop for a while now though so my usefulness is up. Copy and paste as required ladies (and gent) but don't forget you'll need to re bold all the bold bits... Don't be messin' with my art Grin

Pinkie2103 · 12/09/2014 20:52

Jelly lactation cookies were awesome for me last time when I had supply problems. Bit sugar heavy so subsequent batches didn't have so much but they were great

Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed Cookies

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons water 2 tablespoons flaxseed/linseed meal
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
  • 1 cup or more chocolate chips 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast (be generous)

Directions:

Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with greaseproof paper. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.

Serves: 6 dozen cookies

Preparation time: 15 minutes

*can be found at any local health food store.
NOTE IT MUST BE BREWERS YEAST, NO SUBSTITUTIONS.

YellowWellies · 12/09/2014 21:22

Argh just dropped and smashed my tablet screen trying to carry a toddler and bundle of washing up the stairs at bathtime. Feck arse.

As for the whole not knowing what you are having - with J I had no clue but everyone told me I was carrying like a girl, craving like for a girl so I convinced myself he was a girl. When DH announced it was a boy - I asked if he was confusing the cord and he announced deadpan 'I think I know what I'm looking at darling'. So Goats don't necessarily trust your gut! I was utterly wrong. This time I actually do have a very strong feeling of my own that this is a girl, but I could be utterly wrong so we have names for both.

queenasanti3 · 12/09/2014 22:22

fedupofrainydays · 12/09/2014 23:16

Ha ha! I just hope it's not norovirus or something hideous. Really don't want that in labour!

Kirstipops · 12/09/2014 23:22

Yep fedup I'm with Mrsb!
Take. Your. Time. Getting. Home.
