Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

OMG pregnant how embarrassing for her although perhaps she was well past caring!

Slide - good luck! So exciting :)

Pregnantagain7 · 12/09/2014 14:52

I know pony I really felt for her but think you're right she really was past caring!! Seat reclined back and legs akimbo on the dashboard!! :)

fatpony · 12/09/2014 14:56

Hopefully someone dashed up with a blanket or towel to cover her so not too many people saw. I once saw a taxi drive into a Monsoon shop window, the driver was unconscious in the front seat with the paramedics treating him and people were standing around snapping photos of the accident and him on their phones. No shame!

gunwalloe · 12/09/2014 15:10

Poor women! like you say though she was most probably past caring I know I would be if my baby was coming out in the car. When I was on my way to the ward there was a lady in the lift with us in labour she was still in control though obviously in pain. It kinda makes me glad that I wont (hopefully) be going into labour.

clops2000 · 12/09/2014 15:13

Keep seeing group B strep mentioned when I'm reading, just aware that i'm 37+1 today and no-ones mentioned it to be as yet. Is it a routine test that I should have had or do you only get tested in certain circumstances?

fedupofrainydays · 12/09/2014 15:19

Oooh slide thinking of you!!! Good luck..

Thanks for the list bump looks good

Sorry for those with GD but I just went to sainsburys and have since scoffed almost a whole packet of French fancies Blush

fedupofrainydays · 12/09/2014 15:22

Ha ha pregnant I'm so packing my bag this weekend too. I don't think this one will be early though. Am too small / carrying too high.

Pregnantagain7 · 12/09/2014 15:30

OMG pony that's disgusting! It was a split second thing this morning as he pulled up the midwives were rushing out I think he must have phoned to warn them it just happened to be me they pulled up next to so hopefully no one else saw anything. Just wasn't really what I was expecting silly I know but even though I've had three births already seeing women actually in labour still makes me think Jesus I've got to do that again in a few weeks!!

Pregnantagain7 · 12/09/2014 15:32

clops I think you will have been tested in your routine bloods near the start of pregnancy. No one has ever mentioned a test for it to me either.

Captainmcgraw · 12/09/2014 15:42

Home from final day of work (they let me go early as I was literally just waiting to set my out of office). Straight in my PJs and may not change out of them for the next 10 days!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 12/09/2014 15:44

clops no idea what the nhs does, but I had a smear to test for strep today (34+2) if that helps.

clairemiss79 · 12/09/2014 16:10

I think the NHS don't test for strep B routinely but if there is a reason that you might have it then they'll do a swab. It doesn't show up on bloods. I'm having a swab for it next week. If they find it you get put on an antibiotic drip for the labour.
Apparently it can come and go

Pinkie2103 · 12/09/2014 16:21

Thanks Bump Smile

Jelly - yep, have decided on a HBAC Shock and have the community midwife and SOM coming to visit me at home on Tuesday!!

mum2kiss · 12/09/2014 16:31

Wow that poor lady! This will be one she'll never forget that's for sure!

Oh my goodness so piles are ruining my life! I've never had them before! Has anyone got any advice?! It started with on last week now it feels like my entire ass is turning inside out whilst on fire! What can I do?! I've applied some anusol but that's making it sting even more!

clairemiss79 · 12/09/2014 16:37

mum2kiss you have my full sympathy. I suffered for about 2 weeks. I found the only relief was the anusol HC with hydrocortisone and apply it up there. Theyve vanished now thank goodness but i know they could return at any moment

Me23 · 12/09/2014 16:44

clops re gbs as others have said it isn't routinely tested for by the nhs. The way it would be picked up is if you have had a swab done or a urine sent off but it can come and go.
If you wanted to you can order a testing kit for £35 the results only take a few days and can be texted to you the best time to test is at 36 weeks to ensure you would be covered by antibiotics during labour if you have it. Here is a popular and reliable screening service www.tdlpathology.com/test-information/test-service-updates/group-b-strep

Mamami · 12/09/2014 16:45

It's taken me two days to catch up on this thread. Between work, finally putting a nursery together, emergency trips to the hospital because of a bit too much panic over a very early 'show' (35 weeks +) I'm just rubbish at keeping up.

Huge congratulations to slide! Thinking of you and your impending cuddles.

I'm battling a serious urge to put bedding on this baby's cotbed. We've just made it up and it looks so unfinished. Have to keep reminding myself to stay sane - 6 months is a rather long time for bedding to sit around getting dusty!!

Can I get an add onto the list when next updated? DC1 (girl) EDD 15th of October.

ohthegoats · 12/09/2014 16:52

Well, that's it for teaching a class until June. Had a minor emotional moment about it, but got home and sat on sofa with feet up and stopped being emotional almost immediately! Got another week to put my management stuff in order, but short days and sitting down a lot, so nothing too strenuous. Since I'm looking out on a building site of a garden, I figure that the next 6 months are going to be really exciting.. finishing a house as well as the baby stuff. Nice. Looking forward to it now.

Boss also told me he's looking for another job, which means the Head teacher position will be up for grabs... need to decide if that's something I want to do in the first year with a baby.

Anyway, good luck to slide... how exciting!

ohthegoats · 12/09/2014 17:03

Oh, someone suggested to me today that they think I'm having a boy. Cue minor panic, since I have no notions of it being anything other than a girl. What if it's a boy? We have no boy names... and I visualise the child totally as a girl. Erk.

Thing is, while we didn't get it looked for at scans, I reckon the whole nub thing in our photos is spot on for a girl. And both of us thought independently that it's a girl, right from the very beginning.

Think I better start imagining a boy child too, just in case.

clairemiss79 · 12/09/2014 17:14

goats i believe you can tell what youre having from your preg symptoms. If your boobs have stayed the same size then it's a boy. Also, are you repulsed by smells you used to like? People having girls are more likely to feel repelled ;)

Kirstipops · 12/09/2014 17:21

I have bigger boobs but I'm not repelled by smells, my preg symptoms are so contradictory!

Lily31 · 12/09/2014 17:21

Sending a whoop whoop to the others who've finished work!

ohthegoats · 12/09/2014 17:25

Boobs are same size = boy.
Not sure about smells... my tastes in general have been up and down - for flavour and smells.

cabster · 12/09/2014 17:42

It's like finishing for a VERY long weekend!

Good luck slide, sending you lots of good thoughts.

2 more midwives have had a go at guess the presentation of the baby - the student mw was flummoxed, the mw thinks he might be head down, but certainly isn't engaged and she would definitely would have sent me for a scan if I didn't already have one booked. Suspects he's back to back though Sad

Regular scan-goers - daft question but are your third trimester scans looking a lot more baby-like than at 20 weeks? Or are your babies still looking like blobs with limbs? Really not sure what to expect come Monday! Confused

gunwalloe · 12/09/2014 17:44

Goats I've always found my hair growth a give away of the baby's sex. Hairy legs quickly = boy hair taking ages to hire back on legs = girl
