Hi everyone. Have updated list with my date. Have been abandoning Mumsnet recently for Ebay and baby purchases - struggling on. Dissolved in floods of tears at GPs yesterday (where I go for my antenatal checks). Coz I think I only really feel safe with my consultant I had last time - the most reassuring fatherly person in the world - I desperately want to fly him out from NZ . I can't afford private here. Everytime I have been to the Royal Free has been revolting and, to cap it all off, that Tonight programme I saw the other night which said that the UK comes third worst in statistics for, I think, healthy baby outcomes, in Europe - beating only Poland and Slovakia, really made me feel happy. I felt a bit silly coz my GP is booked into the same hospital for her birth a month before me.... But as a doctor I'm sure she'll know how to work the system. She said she would contact the midwives and get them to contact me - I'll fall off my chair if that actually happens. Logically I'm sure everything will be fine, why do I feel so emotional?

Lizz - def discuss heartburn with your doctor. My dp works with someone whose wife is pregnant with horrendous heartburn and I'm pretty sure she has been hospitalised a couple of times.

I am defo gonna get the maxi cosi car seat for the quinny zapp, looks well smart! But I can't order the pushchair etc online with john lewis otherwise mil will no get her 25% discount. And they don't even stock the footmuff, that has to be a special order!?!

Feeling out of sorts today...woke up with mega pains at 4am, got up at 5am and had a cuppa and felt normal again. Probably braxton thingys or just slept in an odd position! But am bb'sitting a friends 18 month old today and have nabbed my 11yr old niece to help as I feel I am gonna drop off to sleep any minute! I have that overwhelming feeling of wanting/needing to go to bed!!!

Well poppy I watched the tonight programme and wish I hadnt bothered it puts you off so much especially as in my first pg I had a situation where my ds heart rate fell they were very quick to then deleiver him by ventouse but it just shows in the matter of half a hour with that couples babies heart rate dropping he went from a healthy baby to one with cerebal palsy, our nhs sucks.

Thanks for the advice yesterday about babys movements had a big glass of coldwater and guess what she started kicking the hell out of me .

Forgot to say thanks ellie for all the info you have kindly put on do you think we could also put on the babies sex if known only kidding we would then be on post 3001........

Hi everyone, not posted for a while. Been sorting bubs things out and making my back bedroom look more like a nursery. Also brought all bubs clothes from my mums to my house-I'm supersticious (sp?) and washed them all. Then yesterday went shopping to get the things I was short of. How lovely is is to see little bubba clothes on my washing line and radiators!
Dh-I get the same Maternity leave as you. Just think surviving on £108.00 will be difficult when I have my mortgage and bills to pay aswell as a bub!

Looshkin-whats your hip, back and pelvis pain like. I am in agony when I lay flat and try to turn or get up, it makes me limp for 10 minutes then it eases a bit. The pain is really low down across my back but nearly on my bum . What could it be. Also I think I've got thrush not itching constantly but last night it was pretty bad. I've also got a boil just above where your pubs end sorry if TMI, its soooo sore. Why does it all come at once?! Do I need to ring GP about these problems or midwife, I'm never really sure?

Becs21, I start my maternity leave on 7 Jan and my edd is 11 January! But I'm actually finishing on 22 Dec because I'm taking some annual leave.

Can I just ask how the mw knows you've got placenta previa? Do they tell by feeling or is it if you have a scan? How will they know you've got it if you don't have a scan?

And does anyone know where you can buy coconut ice-cream?!

HI daisyp, I have the same pain as you, it is really low down in my back and radiates from my tailbone into my left butt cheek. Some people say it is sciatica, but I don't think it's that bad, maybe just the sciatic nerve jumbling around a bit because the bones are all loose.
It really hurts after I have sat down for a bit and then eases after I start walking. I don't think there is too much you can do about it, the mw recommended applying heat for 10 minutes then cold for ten minutes repeatedly (but who has time to do that!). Good luck...

Daisy, placenta previa is a low lying placenta that either partially or completely covers your cervix (stopping baby from coming out!) A scan is needed, mine was shown at 20 weeks but they normally move, mine hadn'd a the last scan so I am having another scan next Thursday to check and if its still in the way then a section will be booked.

Need to get something for thrush, should I contact GP or midwife, also need to mention my boil which looks like its going to explode and my back, whats sciatica, is that where the pain shoots about? My back just feels stiff and like its going to lock, its really painful though and I'm walking like an old man!

Its been busy on here today updated list again woth extra due dates and added in the sex of baby that I can remember I'll have to trawl the other thread to find out who I've missed!

A boy for me....a big one it seems as I've had my 28 week check up today and I'm measuring 32 weeks already, yikes!!

Going to see GP tomorrow to see if I can get signed off for a couple of weeks (I'm off work at the mo and not really looking forward to going back on Monday ). I'm exhausted due to a combination of having to get up 2-3 times a night, really bad groin pain (can barely walk sometimes)and general insomnia...despite feeling knackered all the time I lie awake in bed for 2-3 hrs some nights, usually from around 1am. All good practice for when baby arrives I suppose

Yes, a good nights sleep for me at the moment is a god send! My partner keeps moaning at me as my method of turning over in bed is one that is simular to a Walrus trying to turn over!! whats with the insomnia??!!! although I have found a bowl of ricicles b4 bed makes me sleepy!

ps - can't get enough of childrens breakfast cereal!! weird!

Hello everyone. Thank you all so much for your kind words. Feel just totally washed out now, but I think that death and pg just don't go well together. In fact emotions generally and pg don't go well together. Grandma was cremated yesterday, and I just feel like there aren;t any tears left in me . It was funny during the service, though, they read out her full name. I'd forgotten her middle name was Olga, and dh just gave my hand a squeeze and I knew the squeeze meant "I love you, dear, and feel sorry your Grandma is dead, but if you suggest the name Olga for our baby as a tribute I'm divorcing you!"
Anyway, I have missed just MASSES on this thread now! Surely it's nearly time for a new one (I have a title suggestion - but you all might lynch me if I do it again, lol!)...
Really sorry for everyone suffering with colds, backache, stomachache and worms! I second whoever it was who expressed a desire for neurofen - I remember that being one of the could things post-natally, at least I could take neurofen again (until it gave me raging gut rot!). I saw mw today and she's told me to phone the hospital to try and get myself some reflexology, it may help the back pain, and it might help my insomnia. I feel like such a whinge - every entry she's made in my notes starts with "tired"!! Not helped by ds refusing to adjust his body clock to the hour change . 5 more weeks to work here. Looking forward to it being over!

Now, how soon do you think I can put the christmas tree up?? I'm dying to get it up because I know ds will be fascinated by it...there again, it could be a huge mistake as a) he'll destroy it in seconds and b)the novelty will totally have worn off by Christmas.
