Hello only me, I am due 4th jan but dreading being late - currently bouncing up and down on birthing ball to get those pelvic floor muscles in good order (only to be shredded in 10 weeks time). I have had a comedy moment this am trying to get the pram to go 'down' - to get from closed up position to working position (whatever the correct term is) unfortunatley in our hurry to leave M&P the rain cover and instructions were just shoved inside the pram and now are completley beyond reach aarrghhhhhhh, I think we will just perch the baby ontop - social services won't mind surely. Also cannot get the car seat out of base so overall a little miffed. To make matters worse I was doing this in the drive way for all the neighbours to see as I have this thing about the pram not coming in the house until baby comes - pregnancy brain badness so neighbours have had a right laugh at my expense and no-one came to help - mind you the average here is about 100 so maybe a little out of practice. Off to cuddle a cat and calm down.

jessddibs · 30/10/2006 11:51

Hi all! Pushcahairs/prams etc do my head in! I am with you looshkin! mil/fil had dd for the weekend while dh and I went pushchair shopping. It is so bloody complicated! I do a hell of alot of walking so it is very important to me to get the right one, plus my dad is buying it so can go a bit more expensive!!! Anyway, we have finally chosen the Quinny buzz.very compact for the boot of the car,Seems compfy to push and easy to collapse with automatic unfolding action!!But..it is out of stock!!!!!!!!!!! And is on order for us, but have been told it will be about 8 weeks!! Hope I am not early!! Gotta get it from John Lewis as we get 25% discount, which makes over £100 off. Plus they don't stock the foot muff!?!? Ah well, at least we have actually decided on what we want, so we are halfway there...My cold is finally leaving me, just a few sniffles. Trick or treating 2morrow night and seeing Bazil brush sat daytime live on stagein the 'foxfactor' lol and then got little britain tickets for hammersmith appollo sat night with dh!! I need to get some rest this week!!?! Hope everyone is well.x.

becs21 · 30/10/2006 12:23

hey just a quick q when should i be thinking of going on mertanity leave wot stage is normal?

laughalot · 30/10/2006 13:25

becs whenever you feel ready with both my pg I am finishing a month before my edd.

Having a few worries today not really felt baby move which is making me sad, think I need a big glass of cold water.

looshkin · 30/10/2006 13:36

Laughalot - try not to worry babies often seem to play tricks on us - do try the ice cold water or ice cream - combinaiton of sugar and cold and rest the bowl on your bump when eating - if babe is head down it will give him/her a cold bottom and bound to get wriggling if still worried don't hesitate to ring MW. Loosh.

elliepmummy · 30/10/2006 13:42

with dd I left at 38 weeks (was full time) but in hindsight should have gone at 37 as that last week was hell!! This time I am leaving on 15th Dec (only do 2 days) and having hols till 31/12 when mat leave starts.

Laughalot when mines quiet I either suck an ice cube or eat a ice lolly seems to get her moving!

coffeebeanz · 30/10/2006 13:58

Laughalot - try not to worry babies quite often have quiet days. Sit down and take it easy I'm sure you will be feeling things soon. Perhaps you could get your midwife to bob out and see you or give you some reassurance if you are really unhappy?

2Happy, sorry to hear about your grandma.

It looks like everyone else is very organised on the nursery front and you have made some lovely choices. I've just collected a new cot bed mattress and made a blind and a pair of curtains so I'm starting to plan ahead. Havent got a clue what type of pram to get though. I've still got my old one but its 9 years old and does look a bit shabby . I managed with one pliko which was suitable from birth and a couple of lightweight ones for when they got to be about 2. I'm a bit obsessed about not wanting too much stuff and making things last so dont get me started on change bags (only had one 1 naff one which was given as a gift - whats wrong with a nice big handbag ?) baby monitors or sterilizers!! Hubby wants a 3 wheeler but I'm not sure as they dont seem to fold up very compact. I definitely need a new car though and had a Cayenne to try for the day during half term. It was great and I really really want one, and the kids do too, but I think they are too expensive for us to justify

Hope everyone suffering from lack of sleep or a cold or just suffering is feeling better. I feel a bit guilty really because apart from knowing my clothes dont fit and increasing Braxton Hicks now, I dont really feel that pregnant. I can almost understand how some women give birth without having known they were pregnant .. well almost !

MrsPeacock · 30/10/2006 14:11

Hi Jessddibs, can't you get your quinny from johnlewis.com?

Elliep, I am due 2nd jan.

I am working right up to 15th Dec, which is 2 weeks before my due date. I am already starting to think that was probably very optimistic, I am feeling far too fat and tired for work and the SPD is making getting about a pain in the arse too.
I am also making mistakes left right and centre as pg brain is struggling to keep up with basic speech let alone any organisiation, maybe they'll let me go early once they discover the dogs dinner I have been creating!

Hi all. Sympathies to all those who mentioned having colds, I am sitting at work today feeling very sorry for myself with a sandpaper throat and streaming nose! My ongoing problem of being too hot all the time also seems to have got 500x worse with this cold and I am annoying everyone in the office my continually opening all the windows and switching fans on!

elliepmummy ? my edd is 12/1/06.

bec21 ? I am finishing work on 15th Dec, which is 4 weeks before my edd. I was originally planning to stay until the 22nd (3 weeks before) but after asking around most people seemed to agree that you will feel more than ready to give up full time work by 36 weeks. Also, I get an extra week to do last minute Christmas shopping!!

Muppet3 ? I also had to muscle my way into earlier NHS antenatal classes than my midwife originally suggested. I had my first one last week, rather than at 34 weeks, which, like you, would have meant I was having my hospital tour at wk 39!!! I?ve also booked up a ?preparing for birth? class at the Active Birth Centre in Archway. For anyone in the London area, I would recommend it there. They run lots of different classes and do massage and homeopathy and osteopathy and all sorts of pregnancy and birth related stuff! It?s really brilliant? I?d be there every day if I had the time and the money!

Dragonhart · 30/10/2006 19:22

I have had a headache for ages. In fact I cant rem the last time I didnt have one. Ranges from niggly to raging but is constant . On the bright side, I have not had too much indegestion this time (except when I have a curry!) whereas last time I had it all the time.

Do you think this means I am having a girl. Becoming obsessed with what Iam going to have. Also keep having nightmares about having hideous looking babies and when they take them out, the doctors say 'sorry your baby is not viable' WTF??? That is when I am sleeping so not very often!!

Jess, if you are getting the quinny buzz, I would def recoment the maxicosi cabrio car seat as it fits on and is a really good seat(IMO). We have to do alot of millage to visit relatives and DS was always comfy in it. I had the Quinny Speedi SX last time and had some problems with it as a pushchair but before I put the seat on, when I either had the car seat or carrycot clicked on, I loved it.

el123456 · 30/10/2006 20:40

oh.sob,sob.have had weekend from hell.serious sickness bug for starters(kids not me but any time now im sure)and have discovered they have worms!!!!horrid. The medication isnt suitable in pregnancy so can you imagine if i get it.Really totally pissed off.hope everyone else ok,couldnt moan to anyone that knows who i am so sorry.

LadyTophamHatt · 30/10/2006 20:40

I was just sitting here looking at the calender and, do you know what??

I cannot believe I'm 30 weeks PG tomorrow.

30 weeks!!!

It's not because it gone especiailly fast, I just can't believe I'm PG again full stop.

How bloody ridiculous is that then??

LadyTophamHatt · 30/10/2006 20:44

Oh god El.....worms??/

I have to say that is one of my worst nightmares....thankfully I have no experience of them but I would imagine there must be something that you could use if you do get it too.
There has to be....

Lots and lots of hand washing and sheets changing for you I imagine.

magnolia1 · 30/10/2006 20:55

Not sure of my dates yet, definately early and probably c section. Depends on what scan show in 10 days time

But just watched a women on tv with placenta previa having a major bleed and a emergency c section at 35 weeks and it looks fecking scary!!!!!

saltcod · 30/10/2006 21:12

just popping in to say a quick "hello" - haven't posted for yonks but have been lurking a fair bit. Thanks for including me on the Jan list, Elliepmummy - my EDD is Jan 3rd (scarily near the top of the list ). 31 weeks on Weds, feeling massive & everything really aches now. Spend every evening wallowing in the bath. Wondering when to give up work.... was hoping to last till the end of term (38 weeks) but probably a bit optomistic! BP has started creeping up, so having weekly checks since 28 weeks & have got another scan scheduled for 32 weeks to check baby still growing ok.

Wonder who's gonna be the first to drop.... think the hot money's on magnolia1 ?!? BTW, was watching the same programme & started welling up - gorgeous baby!

Iona x

Dragonhart · 30/10/2006 22:15

magnolia, I saw a baby prog on Living2 last time I was preg about a woman having Placenta previa in America and they said about all the risks before she had the cs but it all went perfectly and the surgeon said that it was jsut like a normal section. SUre it will be the same for you. xxx

El - poor you. Fingers crossed you dont get them!!

muppet3 · 31/10/2006 08:05

El - you poor thing! And poor kids, obviously. Not that they'll notice all the washing and work involved of course ...

We found an architect That means we can now hand over the building project to him and hopefully some actual builders, and have somewhere to live in come next May . Somewhere with space for a cot and everything . I'm not a bad mum-to-be, am I, for planning to put it to sleep in a bugaboo carrycot on the floor next to the bed for a few months? I was planning on going to John Lewis and trying to get a 'proper' mattress to stick in it at night.

elliepmummy · 31/10/2006 09:00

El sorry to hear about the worms hope it all clears up soon. Muppet good news about your house. Got midwife again this afternoon after the cock up last week hopefully she'll be there today. Off to toddler group in a bit so bye for now x

Is it possible for someone to die from Heartburn?! I have tried everything and nothing works! I am addicted to Gaviscon - foul as it is, it vaguely works though. Does everyone know that you can get it on perscription from the doctors? I only found out recently. My heart burn is so bad I am taking the day off work today. This is the first day off sick I've taken since I got pregnant. I cant wait till January 7th to have my baby! I want my appetitite back!

magnolia1 · 31/10/2006 09:43

I get gaviscon on prescription no problem. Which is good coz I go through gallons of the stuff too!

Lizzz · 31/10/2006 09:50

I have a bottle of gaviscon in every room in my flat! Its a life saver to get it free. But it doesnt always work. Apparently bananas, licorice and fresh pineapple work too. But I've been chomping on them for ages to no avail!

Lizzz · 31/10/2006 09:59

Hi LadyThophamHatt, thanks for your offer of meeting up. I live in Hove, on the seafront. Are you planning on having your baby in the Royal Sussex? I have my tour date there in mid December, but was speaking to a mum to be yesterday at work, who is due in 2 weeks and is using Crowborough birthing centre. Apparently the Royal Sussex cant guarentee a bed, and she had heard that they turn approximately one person away from their maternity unit every fortnight, due to lack of room. I hadnt even considered this possibility. Have you heard any rumours like this before?

Ladywithababy · 31/10/2006 10:13

Hi all,

elliep, my edd is 04/01/07 - oh so near now!!

I am still deliberating my leaving date, trying to juggle holiday with Christmas so that I can start my leave as late as possible. Am working towards the 15th Dec. My theory is I will do all that cooking they tell us to do, and stock up the freezer, and be all domesticated to ease the burden when the show really starts - but I get the feeling it won't be like that!!

I am expecting the pram to be delivered this week - can't wait. We bought ours from the Glasgow Pram Centre (couldn't sort the link, soz) and got a good deal. We went to John Lewis for the demo, and then got it cheaper here. Looks like they are doing a deal on a Quinny...

That's it for now, ciao
