Changing the subject but I need MN help! I got my pram a few weeks ago but the carry cot bit hasn't got a harness for bubs, so when he/she is laid flat he/she will just be loose and able to roll all over the place. IYSWIM. There are holes so you can thread a harness through but does anyone know where I can get one from? I'm reluctant to go back to the site where I got my pram as I had loads of trouble with them. Can anyone help? x

Shimmer · 20/10/2006 11:06

Anyone else have a really red, itchy belly?? I'm driving myself crazy scratching away at it all day long!! I read that skin can get itchy when its stretching... so it's probably just that i guess. But i've been plastering myself with moisturiser and it's just looking particularly blotchy and horrible today so of course I've started worrying that it's something more serious...

looshkin · 20/10/2006 12:59

Just a quick message will post more later - shimmer there can be many causes of itchy red bellies in pregnancy the absolute vast majority of which are a pain rather than cause problems, I would ring up your GP this afternoon and say you are third trimetsrer and have a rash and he/she should see you this afternoon to put your mind at rest - it is likely to be just stretched skin for which lovley cocoa butter/shea butter can soothe - keep in the fridge for extra relief - hope this helps loosh.

laughalot · 20/10/2006 13:03

Hi shimer dont mean to put you off but when you are starting to get strech marks they can feel very raised on your skin and blotchy so keep slapping your cream on or try calomine lotion my midwife advised that to me in my last pg as I had a really itchy belly.

Mrs p sorry to hear about your problems we to are having car trouble it has cost us £ 200.00 in the last 2 days to get things sorted. I also have to go to hospital next week for a glucose test its a pain because the appointment is so long.

28 weeks now and counting

Dragonhart · 20/10/2006 21:19

Sorry to hear abut your troubles Mrs P. Always feels like when you have one prob, loads more come along.

Daisypops, I have to say that the thing I loved about my carrycot last time was the fact that it didnt have a harness, so when I was pushing DS about it was like being in a bed for him. He could kick and feel free but was safe. Gutted that I cant find a carrycot double buggy tandem style now as this baby will have to be strapped in. Mine did have d rings for a harness later but I never used them.

Dragonhart · 20/10/2006 21:20

Also, Elliep, looked at the pic. Quite amazing that you have an idea of what you baby will look like before it is born!

laughalot · 20/10/2006 21:32

Ellie they are fab pictures of your new baby and also your stunning little girl who looks so much like a princess

elliepmummy · 21/10/2006 07:54

DH My friend had a double pushchair one side was a carrycot and the other side a normal pushchair for her toddler, the carrycot could be remved and turned into a pushchair for when baby to big. Think she ordered from France I will send her a text and ask if she still has website address.

BlueyDragon · 21/10/2006 18:05

Hi all, thought I'd take the plunge and introduce myself. 28 weeks pg with number 1, due 10 January. I think I'm having a relatively easy time of it apart from mad hormones and really bad spots. And moving house twice since July (and now DH is ripping out the kitchen - that's serious nesting).

Hope everyone's coming along OK and got their feet up this weekend.

Daisypops · 21/10/2006 20:47

Hi Blueydragon, welcome to MN. Moving house twice sinbce July -wow! Your brave. Me and DP decided to wait until after bubs is born, I don't think I could cope!

Hope everyone else is ok. Thanks for the replyinh DH, maybe I won't bother with a harness.

How much weight has everyone put on. I've not made a habit of watching my weight but I weighed myself last week and I've put 2 stone on already this is the 'average' and I've got another 11 weeks to go!!! No stretch marks yet, but I've heard they can also come after bubs is born . Has anyone whos already got kids not got any stretch marks at all. My mum never got any so I'm hoping I don't! x

2MwahHaHaHappy · 22/10/2006 04:16

Oh god. It's ten past four. I've been awake since two. I just want to sleep. I can't get back to sleep because if I lie on my side, my back aches, if I lie on my back I can't breathe. I can't remember the last time I slept uninterrupted all night (or woke up feeling not tired), and it's not going to get any better when the baby's born, is it! Poor ds is going to have a proper grumpy mummy tomorrow .

LadyTophamHatt · 22/10/2006 06:21

hi 2 happy, i've been awake since 5am too, with pretty much the same problems.

great fun isn't it????

Trinityrhino · 22/10/2006 07:56

hey daisy, I have 2 children already and have no stretch marks. Apparently it is alot to do with hereditary and just how your skin is, so ask your mum if she has them. My mum has had 2 and hasn't got any.

Trinityrhino · 22/10/2006 07:57

ooops didn't see the end of the post, if your mum didn't then your on to a winner I reckon

elliepmummy · 22/10/2006 09:10

welcome blueydragaon I'll have to update the list I did with all the newbies! I actually got a faily good nights sleep bought a body pillow and propped myself up so slept half sitting up but I did sleep! DD stayed at PIL last night they havent had her overnight since she was 5 months old but her cousins who are 6&7 were staying when I phoned at 7 to say goodnight she was tearing around PIL sitting room with them so god knows what time she went to bed!

I got to 31 weeks last time then got strechmarks this time they havent increased (yet!) and don't seem so noticeable so hopefully won't get to many new ones.

Went to town yesterday on my own for the morning as DH looked after DD and really cracked on with xmas shopping done all the family we don't see at xmas as we have family wedding in nov so I can save postage and give them to the right people there. Got baby some lovely bits in the Boots mini mode sale so new baby has some new pink and white sleepsuits, lovely fleecy pink hat and pink all in one lined suit as thinking it will probably be cold in jan! Only 10 weeks & 5 days to my c-section date!!!

Thanks, LTH, it always makes me feel better to know other people are up and about at insane hours! Ended up watching Prime Suspect we'd recorded from last week - flipping pg hormones had me crying at the end!! Good grief. I need more sleep... And I'm leaking again

As far as stretch marks are concerned, BTW, I thought I didn't get any last time, then caught sight of myself in a mirror towards the end and realised my lower tummy was covered, I just hadn't been able to see them because of the overhang.

Hi, BlueyDragon, welcome. Sorry, I'm not normally this moany (normally I'm embarassing myself telling people the stupid things I do in RL!)

2MwahHaHaHappy · 22/10/2006 09:19

EPM there was also JodieG1 who joined recently, on bed rest. And Kaylasmum, though she hasn't posted for a bit. Sorry

LadyTophamHatt · 22/10/2006 10:27

I didn't get stretch marks until I was on maternity leave with ds1, so after 36 weeks.
They are quite low down so I wasn't fussed.

Then with ds2, I got more further up and more making the old one longer.
Both lots were vertical.

Then with ds3 I got them horizontally between all the old one.

My lower belly look like aset of austrian blinds when not PG

I'm pretty much sure I'll get more this time. Can't see an more ATM but thats only because I can't see my underside!!

2happy, I just had the loveliest bath ever. Laid in it until it was virtually cold reading my book while the Ds's watched a video.
It was Heaven...why don't you have one? I think we both deserve it after being up half the night....

2MwahHaHaHappy · 22/10/2006 10:35

Ohhh man that sounds heaven, LTH. Have to go to my parents just now, but I think I will insist on this when we get back! Though I think the only books I'm capable of reading right now are ds's - still, Hairy MacLary and the Very Hungry Caterpillar - perfect bathtime reading, lol!

Dragonhart · 22/10/2006 12:48

Welcome blueydragon - nice to see another dragon!!

Daisy, I had no stretch marks for DS until the last 2 weeks then got tons below by belybutton and afew above. Had been slathering on all sorts of moisturisers so was feeling pretty smug til then. My mum has no stretch marks from three children so I dont think that is really a guide. My days of wearing bikinis are well and truly gone!

Dito on the lack of sleep. Had forgoten how sore my hips got last time. Have to sit to get dressed or it feels like they might split in two!!

Daisypops · 22/10/2006 20:56

Is there any January ladies about? Its soooo quiet lately.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

I've had quite a good one, got lots of little jobs done but my car is broken . Never mind. its given me an excuse to stay in.
