Hello everybody,
Thank you all for your support, I still feeling painful, but feeling a bit brighter in myself. I had a lovely weekend. Took Friday off work sick but spent most of the day crying, met up with my sisters in the evening and we went to see the Marie Antoinette film (very pretty but not much 'story', OK if you can zone out and look at the pretty clothes and cakes!). Saturday morning my sisters treated me to a pregnancy massage for my birthday (this thursday) it was delicious, I felt so spoilt and wondefully blissed out. It hasn't really helped with the SPD but really helped me to chill out. Recommended to anyone who fancies a treat.
It's funny how all my pregancy woes kicked off at exactly 29 weeks - I even have my first pile
and it seems I am not alone (not necessarily with the piles but with other pg problems).
Good luck with your glucose test too laughalot, I am still ignoring car trouble (it cuts out and misfires all the time) hoping it will go away or at least not get worse until DH gets both his arms back and can take a look at it!
Think non-sugary thoughts for me tomorrow girls!

Loubie37 · 23/10/2006 11:17

Sorry, I've not been around for ages - been so busy at work when I get home I'm too tired to spend ages sat at the PC I'm off work for 2 weeks now, so I'll do some catching up!

It was lovely seeing your 3d scan photos Ellapmummy - we're going for ours on Thursday - can't wait!! We're also decorating the nursery while I'm off, starting tomorrow, can't wait to see it all in place rather than just piled up in boxes

After these 2 weeks off I've only got 6 weeks left at work before I start my mat leave....I've gone from thinking this pregnancy will never end to getting quite scared how quickly Jan is creeping up on me!

Baby wise everything is good touch wood - except I seem to have developed m/s all of a sudden which seems strange at 27 weeks! With my other 2 I was sick al the way through from 3 months until the end, I was hoping I'd escaped it this time round, having only been sick twice up until this weekend......

Anyway, I'd best get on emptying the nursery out - my job of the day When DH comes back from work we're going out to buy the paint and blind, we got everything else (curtains, border, lamp shade etc) last weekend. We decided on the Mothercare Winnie the Pooh range in the end, so we're doing the walls green at the bottom and yellow at the top with the border across the middle

Hope everyone else is well

Loubie xx

oh that sounds lovely loubie our nursery is green at the bottom and lemon at the top and has a border around the middle too!! (not winnie pooh think its called all snuggled up from mothercare when DD born)

I have just tried to order the I'm the big sister t-shirt and I'm the little sister babygro from mothercare and they havent got either in the right size so am now trying to call stores where I know people that work in that town and see if they have them in stock!!

Hello I have been in bed since Friday with an awful cold. Got lots of sleep though, ha ha.

I was having trouble sleeping from back/rib pain but I have seen an osteopath a few times which has really sorted it out - I can really recommend it. I am being treated by (appropriately supervised) trainees so it's not costing much - if anyone is in London I can give you the details. I have also been sleeping on a sheepskin which is good for hip pain and you don't tend to get into a fight with it in the middle of the night like with all those pillows.

Loubie I had a funny time too last week feeling sick again, but I feel fine again now (pregnancy wise at least) - I think I was adjusting to a growth spurt.

laughalot · 23/10/2006 12:46

Podmog I have my glucose test tomorrow apparently because of my weight, I have never been a size 8 and before I was pg I was in a size 16 so im not massive but they class me as being overweight and this is why I have to go for the test too which I was quiet upset about.

Welcome to blueydragon im due on the 10th too.

Just to let you all know as well I went to babies r us yesterday and if you spend over £ 20.00 on the bruin range you get 25% off I bought a cot blanket, pram blanket and some muslin cloths and saved £ 6.00.

lulu25 · 23/10/2006 12:46

Sorry to hear about your crappy appointment. Sounds like the MW was having a bad day. Sometimes that NHS thing of seeing a different person every time you go in can actually be a good thing - chances are the next person you ask will revert to what you were originally told.

MotherBeaker · 23/10/2006 12:47

HI All,
Welcome to all new people, and people that haven't posted for a while!
Sorry about the mw podmog, hope this gets sorted.
Also sorry to hear about your SPD MrsP, I don't think I have that but I do have a pain that radiates from my tailbone to my left buttock and causes me no end of trouble, so I can sympathise with pain in that general area.

Only three more weeks of work to go for me!!! Yippee!! (sorry to those that have more), then we fly back home. Can't wait to have our own house, car and lifestyle back - will finally be able to buy baby stuff!

MrsPeacock · 23/10/2006 13:30

Sounds like Sciatica to me motherbeaker, I had it mildly before pg after doing london to brighton bike ride. Basically its a pain in the ass, my MW tried to tell me the SPD was sciatica, but it's totally different. I think all MW's can be insensitive at times, I guess thats what happens when you deal with the same stuff day in day out, but still no excuse.
Have been looking at Pram/travel systems this weekend and this lunch time on the internet, anyone else find this the most confusing thing evar! How techno does a pram/buggy have to be? All I want is something I can fold up and get in the back of the car but they all seem to weigh a ton, and cost more than the car itself!

2MwahHaHaHappy · 23/10/2006 14:23

Well the bath idea really didn't work out. Put ds down for a nap, relaxed into nice warm soothing tub, got magazine out....door opens and there's ds . He refused to go to sleep and was crying himself silly, so dh got him out of bed but then sat down to play on internet, leaving ds to wander into the bathroom and clamber into the bath with me, which was something short of restful!!! (Fancy spending time on internet instead of interacting with ds, I'd never do that ) Never mind, I actually managed 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night, which is the most I've had in ages! I know they used to do reflexology for pg people at the hospital, maybe I should give that a go. Seeing mw either tomorrow or next week, maybe I'll ask her. I know I'm very lucky, she is very nice and unless she's on A/L I always see the same one. Though she's never actually had kids herself so sometimes I feel a bit at her postnatal advice! I hope everyone's GTTs go ok.
My bump seems to have grown overnight again - I realised yesterday that it's huge, and it's catching any food I drop like a giant bib! Nothing to do with the mars bars...

Shimmer · 23/10/2006 14:26

Hi all. Thanks for the advice on the itchiness problem looshkin and laughalot - its still really irritating but does come and go and i'm sure it isn't anything serious. (Apparently rashes/itchiness are only a problem when they're on your hands or feet, when it can be caused by some liver condition.) So, I'm preparing myself for the stretch marks to start appearing any day now!!

I had to have the glucose test too. It seems like they'll subject just about anyone to it given half a chance! I can't remember where I read it now, don't think it was on this thread, but apparently its done as routine in some places, so obviously they give it to loads of people who they don't really think are at serious risk of gestational diabetes. (As if the NHS isn't stretched enough without giving people unnecesary tests??) It was a complete pain so i sympathise with those having to have it!! It was bad for me because i have really deep veins that seem to be really hard to find, so every time I have a blood test its a bit of an ordeal! At my m/w appointment last week she ended up taking blood from the back of my hand! Ouch!

MrsPeacock I completely agree about the travel system thing. I couldn?t believe how many there were and how complicated they are when I first started looking! In the end we have gone for the Mamas & Papas pramette just because it seems really popular, had good reviews everywhere, and won some awards for best pram/pushchair, so we figured it must be good! It is fairly pricey though!! My parents helped us out with the cost so we could get it, otherwise I don?t think we could really have justified it when there definitely are cheaper options out there.

Went to the baby fair at earls court this weekend but it was so hot and stuffy and busy that we only stayed about an hour and then I had to leave! I have resolved to do all the rest of my shopping on the net!

Daisypops · 23/10/2006 14:37

Seems like everyone is a bit down in the dumps lately. I think we need to lighten the mood although I don't know how! Any suggestions? I have back ache and feel like the skin on my belly is been stretched to flippin Timbucktoo(sp). I'm so ungainly and uncomfortable and I've got another 10 weeks to go. Any back ache cures anyone? I've worn flat shoes since I found out I was pg so its not that, I've tried bath and water bottles but its just so sore. Luckily I'm not having any trouble sleeping. Baths and hot chocolate work when I can't sleep but I expect you've tried this. Oh well not long to go girls. What are we all getting for christmas!?! (Daisypops' attempt at lightening the mood!

MotherBeaker · 23/10/2006 15:55

I have found something that really helps my backache - not sure whether it will help everyone and it also has to be done everyday . Get dh/dp/friend etc to put some moisturiser or babyoil along your spine and then get him to push with the heel of his palm quite firmly from your tailbone to your neck. If you do it quite hard your can quite often click your back - I know this freaks some people out but I love it!

For Christmas we are shifting into our new house and I'm getting all new kitchenware -I know this sounds very domestic - but I love cooking so am very excited. Also I get to see my family again after almost three years away, so am very excited about that too

Daisypops · 23/10/2006 16:28

Will get DP to try that Motherbeaker, although hes very squeamish and won't even stroke my bump! I've read about some sort of brace that helps take the weight of bubs of your back, might have to ask my MW next time I go. At what point do the guess how big your bub is going to be? I'd love to know. Last time I went I was 27 weeks but I measured 28. If I ask will they tell me if bubs is gonna be a big 'un or don't they like to say?

Are you moving house? I couldn't cope with been pregnant and moving house so have told DP we'll do it next year. Seeing your family again will be a nice christmas prezzy too!

elliepmummy · 23/10/2006 16:33

Hi daisypops, in answer to your post I guess you could say I was shifting house - we are shifting back from the UK to NZ and have brought a house - although we haven't even seen it yet! We have to buy all new furniture, so I think I am going to be really busy right up until the birth.

Also I second the massage/manicure/pedicure thing, dh is treating me to one for my birthday which will be a couple of weeks after bubs is born, and I am looking forward to it already. I think you need something for yourself...
