Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
elliepmummy · 10/10/2006 09:02

that was meant to say DD dressed, DH perfectly captable of dressing himself (well most of the time)

Daisypops · 10/10/2006 12:30

Hi ladies, hope your all ok. Haven't been on MN for a while but had to post to see if anyone else is in the same boat. I'm so hormonal and insecure Is anyone else? Poor DP got the silent treatment last night as I found a bit of p0rn on his phone, this wouldn't bother me normally but I just cried and felt fat and unattractive. DP was very reassuring and said him and all his workmates have the same pics. Oh the joys of pregnancy. I think it makes it worse coz we haven't 'done it' for months. Roll on the third trimester!!! Soz for depressing post! X

jessddibs · 10/10/2006 12:41

I can completely understand and sympathise with you Daisypops. I feel EXACTLY the same. And am having very sexual dreams but do not actually want to have sex!! I think things don't begin to back to normal untill at least 6 weeks after birth...!?!?

MotherBeaker · 10/10/2006 12:57

jess & dpops - I feel the same too, especially about the dreams bit. dh says I look really beautiful pg, but I think he is a bit put off sex because he now considers a third person i.e. baby to be there. Weird I know, but I think I kind of feel the same way .

Feeling fat too, I think almost every pg women does don't they?

magnolia1 · 10/10/2006 13:09

Urban, can't believe they didn't put you in in I had a message on my answer machine yeterday from Clara saying she would love to send me photo's!!!! Well why hasn't she then??? And no the expenses havent been paid

Welcome more newbies!!! And will you lot stop posting so much I can't keep up!!!!

I went for my Anti D injection (was meant to have it at 28 weeks but late as usual) and the blooming midwife pricked her finger on the needle so now I have to go back again to have it done on Thursday!!!!

Have spent 2.5 hours on the phone to sky trying to sort out my broadband but still not got anywhere!!! Might just stick with Aol!

babybunyan · 10/10/2006 13:36

glad to hear others have that funny combination of really sexy dreams and yet no interest when they're awake! Very odd.

I've got the added complication that when I was overdue with DS we had a go (you'll try anything at that stage wont you?!) and I ended up bleeding and being induced.

Never really been explained to me why it might have happened but it's in the back of my mind now. Not the end of the world at 41 weeks but not at 25!

Shimmer · 10/10/2006 17:26

Well I've spent HOURS over the last couple of days not doing very much at work apart from reading through this thread and I feel like I've gotten to know you all rather well! So I thought the time had come to post something and actually say Hi (after I'd run out to the shops and bought a large bag of maltesers and First magazine to see what you've all been going on about!)

I live in London and am expecting my first, a boy, on 12th January. I noticed someone earlier said there were loads more boys than girls due in Jan, 2 of my cousins had baby boys this year and a friend of mine is currently pregnant with twin boys! What's with all the boys???

UrbanDryad - GTT is a Glucose Tolerance Test. It is an annoying and time-consuming blood test that they recommend that some people have to check for gestational diabetes. I had to have it a couple of weeks ago because the little one's measurements at my 20 week scan were showing a bit on the large side, which apparently means he could be getting too much sugar. But luckily it came back all clear for me, and so apart from a bit of back ache and being CONSTANTLY hungry I'm the picture of health!

Does anyone know if it's ok to dye your hair while pregnant? I REALLY need to, but have heard it's not advisable!?

becks5109 · 10/10/2006 17:56

i've searched high and low for First Magazine - newsapgents, sainsbury's and can't seem to locate a copy anywhere

i feel HUGE today and back is starting to ache. I too am now a 3am waker and struggling to get back to sleep. On the whole though feeling alot better than I did a couple of weeks ago. Been watching far too many births on telly and getting all emotional though - still hoping for a home birth.

jessddibs · 10/10/2006 18:40

Welcome shimmer to our mad January thread!
The hair colouring thing, My sister is a hairdresser with her own salon and says that it is perfectly safe to have your hair done as long as the colour isn't being painted directly on the scalp ie. highlights are safe but an all over block colour is not recomended. I have had my highlights done and had them done first time round as well with no problems.

jessddibs · 10/10/2006 18:40

p.s we have the same due date to!

Dragonhart · 10/10/2006 21:11

Oh my god I have been off for a week and it has taken me nearly an hour to catch up!!!!

Had my nan and then MIL and FIL saying for the last week so been to busy being sociable for the last week.

Urban - srry about the photo shoot. . Hope they give you some copies of the photos as compensation.

I have just started using cloth nappies and got most of my info from the mumsnet napies topic. Lots of very helpful mums there as always on mumsnet.

I have some terries (large as my ds is a big boy) and some wambamboos (recommended by flamesparrow) which are much slimmer than the terries but take longer to dry. Motherease airflow wraps, fleece linners and fleece wipes.

These links are usefull:

thenappylady if you fill out the questionnaire, they email youback and give you an advisor who can help you.

choose a nappy not as much help but good shopping site.

Also found a good site with lots of peoples views. Will look for it and post it later as I have to go and watch Supernanny!!

Def look on the nappies topic. Lots of help. I have used disposables for 14months and decided to swap as we cant afford to have two in nappies. It is much easier than I thought and I wish I had done it earlier. Still using some disposables but only for night really. I am planning to use disposables for the first weeks or so as someone said that the meconium can stain nappies.

Hope that helps.

Also hope everything is ok trinity and anyone else having probs. (((hugs))).

JodieG1 · 11/10/2006 12:06

Thought I'd say hello here, just found these boards and looks like I have lots to read. I'm due 14th Jan expecting a boy and have a 4 year old girl and almost 3 year old boy. I'm currently on bedrest and have been for the past 4 weeks as my waters broke at 22 weeks. I've been admitted to hospital twice since then, once when it happened and once when they thought I was getting an infection. I've had 2 lots of antibiotics and had steroids for the baby's lungs plus weekly blood tests along with weekly consultant appts. I've been having weekly scans since 4 weeks ago to check fluid levels and also growth scans. Now I'm 26+3 the odds look better for my baby but I'm just resting and hoping that he stays put a while longer.

I'm lucky that my parents come over every day to take dd to school and look after ds, they also make food etc and then dh takes over when he gets home from work. Hope to get to know people and pass some time.

Jodie

MotherBeaker · 11/10/2006 12:19

Welcome to shimmer and JodieG1 (and any other newbies I have missed out)! Jodie sorry to hear about what's been going on, hope everything goes well and that your lovely little boy is born safely on 14th Jan - I especially like that day as it is my birthday! My wee boy is due 1st of Jan, so maybe a big new years party for me!

laughalot · 11/10/2006 14:22

Hi everyone hope you are all well, im struggling to get hold of that first magazine .

Jodie fingers crossed for a safe arrival in january and not before.

Well im having a virgin vie cosmetics party tonight loads of folks round I must be mad.

MamaGhoul · 11/10/2006 14:23

Just wanted to poke my nose in and congratulate you on the best antenatal title EVER

looshkin · 11/10/2006 18:33

Hello to all the new people, Jodie everything is cross and hope you are able to get some rest.
Magnolia saw you in the mag look fab and upset for you UD as looking forward to seeing your pics hopefully you maybe able to get hold of them, also hope married life is going swimmingly.

Not much has happened in the last week or so back is killing me and sitting here bouncing on birthing ball with a heat pad /wheat bag thingy stuffed down the back of my pants looks like I have an arse the size of Gibralta!, at least it balances out the ever growing bump. We painted the nursery this weekend all I managed to do was wipe off the bit I had just done with my bump like chalk from a blackboard so much patching up needed.

We are starting to think about buying stuff now after reading some of the posts feel a little behind - if anyone needs it there is a good thread on the pregnancy section about what to buy eg sleepsuits etc (what are these by the way she says very sheepishly). have just realised we know nothing about babies but we will be cathcing up with some friends including 2 Happy (love the new name by the way) soon and hoping to pick brains big style.

Too hungry now hopefully tea ready soon having bangers and roast potatoes mmmmmmm. Loosh.

PS did anyone else see the rather bizarre angry posts this week on the pregnancy section (they have now been deleted)did not realise everything could kick off so much on MNs has made me think twice about posting anywhere else except here

Dragonhart · 11/10/2006 19:36

Oooo! Sounds interesting Loosh, tell us more!!! Feeling very gossipy and as my inlaws have been here, have had none for what seems like ages.

They have gone now and I did relax for the first time in a week as I waved them off. Was an ok visit but still, not as nice as being on our own.

Having terrible trouble sleeping which is not really like me normally. Has anyone used one of thoses enormous tube like pillows that go between your legs, under your bump and up the length of your body? like this Looks good as I cant seem to keep a pillow between my legs and my hips are killing me!

Sorry it sounds like a nightmare Jodie, hope everything goes well from here. xxx

Here's that other link Urban cloth nappy review blog spot

Hope everyone else is ok xxx

Dragonhart · 11/10/2006 19:37

By the way sorry about the no of links in my last two posts. Just learnt and am a bit link happy!!

2MwahHaHaHappy · 11/10/2006 20:56

Evening all! dh has gone out curling, so I can finally MN without getting p*ed off glances in my direction for spending so long on line and not being sociable
Jodie - omg that's so awful for you, I hope this thread and MN generally can keep you company while you rest up. Really hoping everything keeps going ok.
DH - a week with the inlaws, hmmm, nice! Mine are off trekking in Nepal for a fortnight - peace and quiet . I bought a v-shaped, wedge and long tube pillow last pg and found the long one by far the most useful at night, though the v-shaped one was good afterwards for bfing. HTH.
Looshie - lol at wiping the paint off with your bump! I keep trying to open a filing cabinet at work and just cannot seem to remember each time that I have to stand to the side to do it - I can't get it open if I'm in front cause I get wedged by the photocopier!
Shimmer, love2dance - welcome to the party
Magnolia - about the anti-d! Hope it goes ok next time you go!
Daisypops - dh always says he likes the way I look when pg, but I can't see how, I just feel fat, unweildy and stretch-marked. I don't think it's normal to glow!
Happy birthday Mr EPM and Nemo's ds . Sorry about all the GTTs and hospital appts, Nemo, I hope all the results are fine.
Trinity - have you had your second scan yet? How's dd's sleeping now?
And I'm sure there's lots I'm forgetting, but I'm losing track now, lol! There's only one answer - MN at least daily

elliepmummy · 12/10/2006 07:33

Hello

Welcome to the newbies!! Well not much going on here going to one of my closest friends later and she has a 10wk old girl so its alays good practice at having 2 when I see her.

DH went out with 12 friends for the footie and curry and has yet to come home! (not that I am surprised he normally ends up at someones house and falls asleep one of his closest mates lives on the same estate as us and has just broken up with his fiancee and I know he has the day off work so I am imagaing that he's round there I used to panic that he'd been in an accident/fallen in the river (we live near a river!) but have learnt that this is the norm and at least I dont have to listen to him snoring upstairs!

Had a bit of a disaster at home decided to paint my front door yesterday so got the right
paint sanded it down etc painted it 'regal red' but just looked this morning and where the paint wasnt dry last night and we have had a frost its gone really manky so going to have to sand it all down and do it again!!

theUrbanDryad · 12/10/2006 10:49

oh no! what a PIA elliep!

well we went shopping at tescos last night....gotta say i'm LOVING tescos for the baby clothes. we got 7 short sleeved bodysuits for £5, 2 towelling robes for £7, some REALLY CUTE little jeans for £3, and some other stuff too but i'm too pregnant so i can't remember! i think we're pretty much sorted except for the nappy issue. i've just filled out a questionaire for the nappy lady, so we'll see how that goes. i'm just a wee bit daunted by the initial outlay, but i know that it's cheaper in the long run.

yesterday i spent the day cleaning my house (very unlike me!) with the help of my mum...then i danced around for ages to cheesy cybergoth music which the baby dances to too! it's so funny, he always kicks at the same points. think we might end up with a cyber baby....well i guess that's what you end up with if you cross a goth and a raver!!

i'm in SUCH a good mood though, cause the JobCentre wrote to me and said that i was entitled to JSA for the period that the council are invoicing me for the overpaid housing benefit, so i shouldn't have to pay it off! and i have a bit of cash cause they gave me the back payment! yay!!!! full of beans & bouncing off the walls...

hi to the new people by the way...jodie hope everything turns out ok for you and your LO, whereabouts are you? sorry if you said, i have my preg-head on, which means i can't retain ANY facts at all.

oh, and my pics came i can actually see why they didn't use them...i look clinically insane in one of them, i'm kinda glad i wasn't in there actually. still no expenses though i phoned their offices yesterday and they said that they had processed them, but it took a while for them to go through.

well, i must be off. i'm going round a friend's house to repair a puncture on the buggy she's giving me! xxx

smileyjimjams · 12/10/2006 12:03

Hi
My top five pregnancy niggles this week:

  1. I keep discovering I've spilt something down my top - toothpaste, lunch, etc.
  1. Whenever I walk somewhere my feet become swolen and I get massive sock marks.
  1. Not sleeping well.
  1. If I have to go out of the office for a meeting I'm exhausted for the rest of the day
  1. I miss booze
TheUnholyTrinity · 12/10/2006 12:07

hi guys
scan went well, doc thinks it's just one of those things where some people are just different. He is going to scan again at 30 wekks just to be sure.

dd2 is an angel
she goes down for daddy in like 10 mins and for the last 2 nights hasn't woken AT ALL in the night and woken up between 7 and 7.30 in the morning. I am amazed and it is making her so relaxed and happy. I also feel much better rested to look after her in the day.

onto the pregnancy niggles, I can't sleep very well now which is ironic now that dd2 is grrrr
I've caught my bump on the car door and fridge a couple of times now, starting to fell like a babay elephant.
my IBS is kicking off which is a pain on the arse
And I WANT TO EAT DANISH BLUE

elliepmummy · 12/10/2006 14:14

Trinity great news about the scan and well dne trinityjunior for good be times makes all the difference.

DH staggered home (from his mates house 2 minutes away shame he didnt let me know thats here he was) around 12.30 and is currently vegging on the sof atrying to go back to sleep but am letting DD blow a trumpet in his ear every minute or so he he he!!!

Feel the need to visit tescos after urbans posting may have a rip there tomorrow and if i am feeling very lazy may just buy lunch at the cafe to save cooking

elliepmummy · 12/10/2006 14:16
