Thanks for the tip Memphis I must write that down is it a tablet?
I'm going to try every trick in the book the mini massaging the exercises and pills I can take to help minimise a tear!

Jeez I didn't even know about after bruising it make sense but hadn't thought about it ... Can't I just sneeze and he/she will just pop out?!

18 weeks today, woo! And imminent visit from my Mum who I've not seen since I was 6 weeks pregnant, so I'm a rather happy lass today :)

Memphisbelly · 13/09/2014 11:48

frenetic have a great day with your mum!

thingsarelookingup · 13/09/2014 12:34

Have a great day with your mum frenetic. I had my mum here 2 weeks ago and it was so lovely Smile.

Thanks for the arnica tip Memphis. I will definitely be trying that out. I'll be having a c-section but need to be useful again as soon as I can manage.

thingsarelookingup · 13/09/2014 12:41

I'm only 17 weeks too mini, long and sand. And my 20 week scan is on oct 6. It's good to know there is a few of us bunched at the end of the month too.

Does anyone else feel like we should be further along by now? 17 weeks feels like nothing. I'm sure I've been pregnant forever now.

Memphisbelly · 13/09/2014 16:14

Thingsare Arnica is great for operations as it helps take bruising down that is internal.

Little miss they are in Boots and Holland and barratts little pellets that you let dissolve on your tongue.

Out for mums bday later, I need my hair changing as she said it I have the typical mumsy bob Confused

blankfornames · 13/09/2014 16:35

Thingsarelookingup, I totally hear you! I'm 17 also but feel like it's been an age since I've enjoyed some wine with cheese on crackers!! I have my 20 wk scan also on the 6th of Oct.. power in numbers!!

Memphisbelly · 13/09/2014 16:51

Blank I am desperste for cheese, I reallly don't know how I will get through xmas without it I spend about £50 on cheese for xmas and dh and I get it out every night for around a weeks devouring it..... i want brie
My sister said with 4 weeks until due date the baby is totally formed and just laying down fat so thinks I would be helping baby if I gorged on cheese in Dec! Wink I know i will develop killer heartburn on xmas eve!

sandulacek · 13/09/2014 17:06

Jeez I want some brie and goat cheese and medium rare steak...a girl can dream!

Off to a party tonight and no Wine for me. Yay for some non alcoholic creations Hmm

Ticktick · 13/09/2014 17:20

I've totally got it bad for wanting brie recently :( a really big Brie and grape baguette would rock my world right now, sob!

My 20w scan is 6th oct too, busy day for us lot! X

blankfornames · 13/09/2014 17:27

Ladies, I apologise for bringing up the subject of Brie but I can't get it out of my head!! Why is it always the stuff I want that I can't have. I would LOVE a brie and parma ham crunchy baguette.... eeeeshk!

Can anyone tell me this, I started feeling flutters at 16 weeks last week, how long should it be before DH (and me!!) can feel the kicks from the outside. I can't wait for him to experience what I am! At 19 weeks, the baby can hear sounds from outside, DH told me this morning the the first song that he wants to play to Bean through little earphones (prised to my belly) will be 'Welcome to the Jungle'!!..... and so it begins!!

Memphisbelly · 13/09/2014 17:27

Oh maaaann goats cheese. My pooor mums fsvourite is brie, bacon and cranberry in anything and she has stopped having it when we have lunches out as she knows I need it in my life.

Ds is due just before my birthday I have requested as bday presents a 'thin' person coat, a massive cheese board inc brie, port.

Every year fil struggles to buy me something for xmas and last year He have me vouchers and as something to open a cheeseboard, inc cheeses that they have in the shops at xmas I know he won't think and still buy me one and if he does I may just cry

jenmcspen · 13/09/2014 18:33

I miss goats cheese especially Sad I agree with you memphis Christmas is going to be hard - I love a good cheeseboard!
Today, at 20+1 is my first day in maternity jeans...sooooooo comfy Grin I bought two pairs which are at home, but I seem to have grown a lot bump-wise this week while we have been away! I was sick of doing that thing with the hair bobble and my jeans button hole to extend them so caved and bought another pair from h and m.
Actually starting to look pregnant at last! Grin

donkir · 13/09/2014 18:37

Blank I've been been feeling flutters since week 14 and am now 19. This week was the first time myself and dp have felt it from the outside. I don't think the fact it's dc2 matters for the outside feelings being early or late just the inside flutterings.
Thankfully most of the things I'm not allowed I don't actually like but I do miss a nice bit of rare steak.

Bangonthedoor · 13/09/2014 20:04

I'm so with you on the cheese thing! memphis I too spend a fortune on cheese at Christmas and gutted I can only have the boring cheese! I was pregnant over Xmas with DD and god was it hard!

I joked the other day that I plan on taking a wine miniature and a Stilton portion in my hospital bag to have instead of my tea and toast Grin now thinking it's a pretty good plan!

BanglesSpangles · 13/09/2014 20:37

bang, if it makes you feel sny better, stilton is still on the pregnancy menu- the nhs says its ok and everything!

I do love cheese and have just been indulging in all its varied cooked forms- mmmmm goats cheese pizza

Bangonthedoor · 13/09/2014 20:44

Really?! Well I feel a bit cheated! Oh well I can definitely make up for lost time! Another favourite of mine is Camembert and I've just seen on Tescos website they do a pasteurised one...do we think this would be ok?

Memphisbelly · 13/09/2014 21:06

pasturised is fine was thinking if you bake it surely any would be fine?

BanglesSpangles · 13/09/2014 21:07

D'ya know, i was wondering that- ive seen so many pasturised bries that i wonder if that might just be the norm in the uk now, unless you go to a posh cheesemonger- i wonder if the brie/camenbert veto is just applicable to unpasturised ones?

BanglesSpangles · 13/09/2014 21:10

Cooking blacklisted cheese apparently makes them ok to eat- its a bloody minefield!

Grinningcat · 13/09/2014 21:10

17 weeks as well today! I also have my 20 week scan on the 6th October.

Are you not supposed to have medium rare steak?! I had a medium steak on holiday last week and never even thought about it. Too late too worry about it now, but do I need to have any steak well done from now on. Not that I have it often.

BanglesSpangles · 13/09/2014 21:17

Nhs website says

The Department of Health previously advised it was fine to eat whole cuts of beef and lamb rare, as long as the outside had been properly cooked. As a precaution, this advice has now been removed while a food safety committee (The Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food) looks into the issue of toxoplasmosis.

I do think with a lot of this stuff its about taking 'calculated' risks though- im sure your risk something terrible happening following one odd slip up is pretty tiny... And the guidelines seem to change every five minutes anyway!

Memphisbelly · 13/09/2014 21:40

I have been having medium well steaks and miss my rare, but reslly want liver and onions which you cannot have because of vit K.
So we can have brie? Oh christmas may be back on! I just need to spend a while reading labels! Yipppeeeeee

Surf25 · 13/09/2014 22:38

Hello all, not written in ages, glad to hear things settling down for folk and all the excitement of the next round of scans. I'm just over 17 weeks too and have to say one the one hand it seems to be going slowly, but on the other I seem to be losing track of how far along I am a lot! Next scan for us is 8th oct - seems like lots that week which is nice! Looking forward to it, just can't decide whether I want to know sex or not. We found out with both dds but kept it a secret from everyone...but I've always liked the idea of waiting and dh says it's up to me this time as he had his way last two times..
Busy here otherwise with dd1 just starting school, fun times!
Are other folk thinking about names yet?!

Surf25 · 13/09/2014 22:38

Oh and cheese...yes! Dreaming about cheese and port!!
