OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BanglesSpangles · 11/09/2014 10:26

Morning all
On a train to Bristol- is so nice not being in the office! After a whole day of no bubbles yesterday I started to get a bit paranoid only for them to start up at about 11ish when I was in bed, which was quite nice as I could feel them from the outside. If I'd been at work I'd have felt a bit weird sitting there with my hands on my stomach! Feeling all pleased now Grin

Loving your scan story memphis- hilarious that little one is being a typical boy already!

Good luck suzi and jen - report back!

And I think I'm almost safe to give a small cheer- sounds like the elusive glow is on the way for everyone!

Could really go for a turkish delight now

babysquidge123 · 11/09/2014 11:18

Now that the majority of the sickness is passing and the glow is finally coming, is anyone planning a trip away?

DH and I are off to Australia from the UK next week for a trip to see family a last time before the birth (and before I'm too big to fly comfortably/safely). Off to buy some flight socks and comfy trousers today!

jenmcspen · 11/09/2014 11:47

Scan went well, one healthy, happy and very active little one Grin
Infact, so active she had trouble getting all the measurements she needed!
Hope everyone else has such a nice scan experience, was lovely Grin

Bimberley · 11/09/2014 11:53

Aw thats lovely to hear jen!

BanglesSpangles · 11/09/2014 11:54

Great stuff, jen

Squidge- wow that's a big trip! We're planning on doing some kind of a road trip to the south of England in October- love a road trip so I guess this will be a last chance to enjoy once without 'are we nearly there yet' or acres of baby paraphernalia

freneticfox · 11/09/2014 12:00

Over the last two days I've noticed a sharp increase in my appetite; as in half an hour after eating a sandwich, my stomach is grumbling again!

I'm 18w on Saturday, is this a normal 'thing'?

donkir · 11/09/2014 12:59

Completely normal Frenetic. I'm 19 weeks and starving all the time. My bag has always got snacks in not always healthy though chocolate is less likely to be squashed like a banana ha ha.
Nice to hear all scans doing well mines not until next Friday. Counting down the hours.

sandulacek · 11/09/2014 13:30

I'm snacking all day as well Frenetic. If I have a big meal it just makes me feel sick.

I'm planning a long weekend away in the beginning of November, Malta is currently the top of the list. Only about 3 hour flight and should still be a bit warm. The last holiday for just the two of us!

jenmcspen · 11/09/2014 13:55

We're away in the uk at the moment, but drove home to have the scan. Was too impatient to wait for a rescheduled appointment!

HerRoyalNotness · 11/09/2014 15:49

Hope all your scans go well Ladies!

squidge I am most jelly of your trip to Oz. DH is in pErth this week, swanning about (pun intended), watching rugby in a bar in Oz with Oz beer, ah bliss and fish and chips at freemantle. He is bringing me back cherry ripes though and freddo frogs for the boys'. He then emails and says, hey, how about Cherry for the name. Erm, he'll have to have his head examined on return.

Unfortunately, I've had LOADS of scans already (17w friday), due to bleeding issues etc... Started bleeding agin on Tues night, managed to see my OBGYN yesterday, baby is well, heart beat normal and uterus etc looks healthy, cervix closed etc.. Placenta is low lying which she suspects could be the cause due to baby's movements, which makes sense as she is most active in the evening and the bleeding is in the evening too. So I just need to sit tight and see how things develop. I go back next week for another scan at OBGYN then have another with a consultant the week after.

I should be grateful I guess that I can get seen very quickly here in the US and my Dr assured me it was right to go in, and if I feel like going in every day she will check and she absolutely doesn't mind at all.

HerRoyalNotness · 11/09/2014 15:57

Yesterday I put together a list of costs, you may be interested in, of having a baby in the US. What I've spent so far:

US$7,400 of which I have paid US$900 with insurance picking up the rest. There is another column on my insurance page that says, you may pay, I'm not sure if I still owe it or not, that's another US$250 in there. I guess I better check so I can budget for it.

The Birth charge from my OBGYN is US2900 for attending + 2 followup appointments, of which I pay 10%. The hospital charges are on top of this but I don't know how much they'll be. I'll update this as I go along as I find it totally fascinating as to how much things cost in medicine.

The Fetal Trisom Risk blood work cost a staggering US$2800!

Memphisbelly · 11/09/2014 17:47

Jen that is great to hear

Frenetic I eat a big meal and just feel so uncomfortable but I go from full to starving in 0.3 seconds.

Herroyal my friends lived in the US, they were due to move here and they were assured by his insurance through work they were covered but they went over the last date his work were willing to pay by 24 hours and got saddled with an £8000 bill which they got the day they moved back here I remember the bill including loads and loads just in the injections they gave her during and after the birth. We are so lucky in the UK and you are lucky your insurance will pick up most of the bill....bet its shocking to recieve the whole bill even though you won't be having to pay it.

I have had no network all day at work....missed my phone and internet access. I have bought a box of Mr Kipling Trifle bakewells.....get them they are amazing!

JacktheLab · 11/09/2014 18:04

Evening all,

I'm keeping a low profile, work is a very very busy and with the Scottish referendum not sure what might happen :(

Just got confirmation that I am a diabetic again, going straight onto medication this time and need to re jig the old diet - why is it that when you can't something it's all you want?!?

Glad everyone else is starting to feel better, hoping that I'll be a bit more chatty in the next couple of weeks :)

suzimagoozi · 11/09/2014 19:58

Great news about your scan Jen! My posterior placenta is the reason I've not felt any movements yet. So glad there's an explanation. Anyone else got one?

Our little one was not being cooperative but just means another scan for me on Saturday to get spine and kidney measurements. Found out the sex and after some initial adjustment to the idea DH had started referring to us as his girls which is sweet.

Good luck to all the others with scans in the near future. I think I'll sleep well tonight! Grin

suzimagoozi · 11/09/2014 20:01

Squidge hope the flight goes well. I've got the family catch up in Aus for my sister's wedding at the end of Oct. Hoping my belly might earn some kind of perks! Let me know if you wrangle any benefits Wink

Memphisbelly · 11/09/2014 20:08

Suzi ah congratulations! My rescan is next thursday I am a bit sad it looks like I will be going alone which makes me feel a bit sad. Did you go shopping after the scan or did you manage to resist?

We have this lovely customer who is going to make me a blanket for the baby so were picking colours today (remember I don't do traditional) I am a bit gutted as we were made a quilt for ds with his name on mpby my bro's ex MIL so no chance of getting one for the new one...may have to get sewing myself

jenmcspen · 11/09/2014 20:39

suzi so glad that you have an explanation and that it went well. Grin
Our sonographer was determined I wasn't coming back for a rescan-she made me make fists and then put them under my bum to raise me up!!! Very uncomfortable but apparently helps baby move!

Memphisbelly · 11/09/2014 20:45

Jen I had to do that and jump and hop around the halls....this baby moved loads just into every position that you couldn't see the heart properly Grin

suzimagoozi · 11/09/2014 20:59

I did squats, star jumps, butt wiggles while on all fours and sculled a caramel milkshake. She just wasn't interested in moving! Worrying sign if she already shares her mother's aversion to exercise Wink

Minichuch · 11/09/2014 21:02

Everyone seems so far in front - 16 weeks and got to wait another 4 weeks for my next scan - got mw app on tues - does anyone else think the time is dragging - or is that just me?

Nice trip to south of france tomorrow for a couple of days which is sorely needed

freneticfox · 11/09/2014 21:14

I have my 16w midwife appointment tomorrow (at 18w!) - I wondered if it's too early to bring up the whole birth plan thing... I have a multitude of questions about birthing options given I have chronic hip problems and scarring on my cervix. Don't want to be laughed at if it's just too early to discuss these things.

longbottom · 11/09/2014 21:21

I'm 16 weeks too Minichurch, my scan is the 7th October and seems forever away.
I havent felt any movements yet either Sad And everyone says i'm tiny for 16 weeks for 2nd child! Grr!
I'm not seeing the midwife until 18 weeks either as she is away and doesn't want to pass me around?! Hope I get to hear heartbeat though.

Memphisbelly · 11/09/2014 21:28

Frenetic what hip problems do you have? My last mw and this one said don't bother with a birthplan as they won't get looked at as they are so busy but if you have a medical need like your hips get mw to write it in your book. If you do a birth plan keep it short as they are more likely to read it then.
My birthplan was
Drugs? Yes please Grin
-do not put new baby on me I want his dad to hold him first (I had to remind everyone who came in to the room about that one)

This time I will have

Drugs?pethadine as soon as I walk in and 1hr 55mins later get me an epidural in (pethadine wears off after 2 hrsGrin)

And the same rule of dh holding baby first

And no they won't laugh at you at my 7 week booking in I said about my birth and PND and she hugged me and reassured me this time will be different and went through a few options.....just mention your biggest worries/needs this time then a few more questions next time

tonightsthekindofnight · 11/09/2014 22:30

Evening everyone.

Sorry to selfishly only post about myself. I follow the thread daily so feel I am getting to know everyone but with working and having two little ones already I am finding very little time for anything inc ironing/cleaning etc....much to my husbands dismay.

Had another scan today and both twins still on track and measuring equally 19 weeks. My bump however is measuring 27 weeks already. Goodness knows what I will look like in a few months! My consultant suggested I would be induced at 36 weeks if I get that far so it's fairly certain I won't be having February babies. She also suggested I won't be able to work much past 30 weeks which feels scarily close! I worked as long as poss with my last too so don't know what to think about this time.

Feeling lots of lovely little wriggles and my husband can feel it too. How exciting!

Hope everyone has a good night's sleep x

donkir · 12/09/2014 07:25

Ahhh just spotted my first baby stripe (stretch mark)
On a plus a week till gender scan.
I know how you feel about toe little ones luckily the eldest I look after started school this week but just morning. Counting down another 2 weeks when he stays all day. I'm shattered but at least I get paid for it.
