Cinnamon no I think it's more a worry about you absorbing chemicals through your scalp that can potentially harm the baby. Some hair dyes or bleaches are pretty strong stuff?

Getting so nervous of morning sickness now reading all these posts!! Im only 4+5 and feel ok but going to Canaries on holiday when I will be 14w....hoping if it comes its between now and then!!

Thanks mini I thought I'd seen somewhere else BP was ok but NHS site says only on recommendation of doctor "if they feel you need it" or something similar. I'm not sure 3 or 4 (giant) spots warrant it just yet but will ask at my booking apt if it doesn't ease up. It's bloody horrible stuff anyway sigh

prevyou might be lucky and escape it! I think lots of people ease up by 14w so fingers crossed.

cow I'm not surprised you're knacked! What do you do for work, if that's not too nosy?

I went to Spain at 6w last time and remember packing emergency ginger biscuits and being pleased I didn't need them! So nausea was definitely later than that for me but hung around til 16ish weeks I think.

I think I might end up paying for a viability scan at 7 weeks, I'm too impatient to know how things are going and peeing on sticks every morning isn't cutting it!

I have sore boobs and quite sleepy, but no sickness thank goodness. I didn't get sick with my prev 2 either though, so hopefully won't now either. I can't quite believe I might end up as someone with three kids. Always thought we'd stop at the standard two but then took the not sensible route. Also a bit worried about being an older mum, will be 39 when I give birth. Yikes.

DH will shortly be 38, we've been together 14 years and married nearly 9. Live on bucks / Herts border.

I've never known anyone to stop dying their hair when pregnant. I don't think there's a single shred of a link to any harm to a baby, it's just one of those things that once you ask if it's safe nobody dares to categorically say yes.

I'm also going away at 14 weeks prev so hoping to have the worst of it over by then. I currently feel totally normal and the spotting I've been having for the last week has almost disappeared today. Fingers crossed that's the end of it! Just have to wait patiently until my scan next Friday. But I think I will be just under 6 weeks at the scan so expecting to have to go back for another one to see a heartbeat, just hoping everything is in the right place and there's nothing more sinister causing the spotting. I haven't had any pain so that's a good sign. Hate the waiting!

Banana I had bleeding whilst I was in Spain last time. I think in some ways being away meant I had to put it totthe back of my mind until I was home as didn't really want to seek medical help abroad so I can't imagine what your head must be like at the moment :(

I'm another who all worked out fine for though and it was never explained so will continue to keep everything crossed for you and the others until you know what's happening

mini sorry, one last question. What are you using day to day to wash your face with? At the grand old age of 27 I still use clearasil scrub as it's about the only thing that works for me. I'm now having a flap over the salicylic acid and wondering if I should avoid it? Any oily skin suggestions greatfully received!

No more bleeding here... DH works away during the week and I've been so well behaved, eating super healthily, beans, lentils and loads of veg added to my meals... That I've treated myself to a whole large bar of chocolate and back to the future on TV!

I'm not the best person to ask stop as I still have dreadful skin! I use simple face wipes (the clear skin ones) or simple soap... both bad from a skin pov I think...

huge luck for those with scans or worrisome bleeding.

Hi all, just marking my spot on the new thread. Have been away on hols so will catch up with everyone's post when I can. I'm currently 7+5 and feeling nauseous most of the day. - not fun on planes or boats I found out. Feel like these weeks in the first trimester are very scary and unknown particularly for us first timers so very glad to have this thread for hand holding and advice!

Welcome yorkshirelass! Lavender I think someone must have updated an old list at some point - a kind person (thanks if it was you!) rectified my age mistake but I was put back to 26 again. Maybe this means I'm 26 in spirit! Anyway, I've adjusted it again, and finally figured out how to do it on my phone - hooray! Thinking of those with scans today.

so this morning i am teaching dd1 how to get the bus to school for september. this would be SO much easier if i didn't feel nauseaus everytime i move

StopEating I feel a lot calmer about everything than I was last week - the amount of bleeding has been so little (just a hint of light brown when I wipe) and the EPU seemed quite unconcerned so I have convinced myself (for the moment) that it's all fine and just a bit of breakthrough bleeding when my period should have been. Interestingly I would have expected my period to end today and this morning is the first time I haven't seen any spotting at all so this might be the end! Still POAS every morning and watching the line get stronger which reassures me.

Was wondering if anyone else has put on a significant amount of weight (I'm seven weeks plus four)? My belly is all bloated and clothes feel tight. Similar to when you're expecting your period. Of course in the media pregnant women look wondered but I just feel like a lump!

Chicken I look awful - bloated, exhausted, spotty and greasy hair!

Hi chickenme. I am 8+3 and clothes are getting tight. Have not dared to weigh myself. It's definitely a combination of bloating and excess eating in my case. Can't wait for baby to grow and stretch it out so I look preggo and not fat. Am trying to just snack on fruit in between meals but sometimes a bit of chocolate or a packet of crisps sneak in there.

care it truly is grim! she even hung over the bath doing it this morning whilst I was in full swing in the loo! the sound of people vomiting has always set me off, so it just became this never ending loop until DH came and took her away laughing sympathetically I think not as he did so.

cinnamon IUGR= in utero growth reduction/retardation DD stopped growing at 32 weeks so they induced me at 36 weeks.

PPH is postpartum haemorage, after I passed the placenta I didn't clot properly and lost almost 2 litres of blood because they were able to get it under control.

A precipitate labour is just a really fast active labour stage, I went from 1cm dilated to 10 with a head between my thighs in the time it took someone to tell me I couldn't possibly be in as much pain as I was making out and fetch someone else to run me a bath >.>

Interestingly I'm pretty sure all three of those things are fairly rare and yet I got them all (I don't like to do things by half measures :p)
