I googled spearmint but there was not much on it- think you're just not meant to take it as a supplement. I've defo drunk spearmint tea as well once or twice Confused

I feel so sick all the time and have such a vile mouth taste that all I can face eating is crisps and sweets. Can someone else please reassure me it's not just me!!?

So, my surprise this morning was a phone call from the local midwives checking everything was alright as I wasn't at the 10am booking in appointment they were expecting me for! Thankfully it's one of my working from home days so I could scoot down there and get booked in/first set of bloods taken, but it's thrown me off balance a bit! I think we've identified the issue - I could have sworn I changed my address with the doctor's surgery when we moved, but the old address still seems to be on their records. I sense a bit of a paperwork chase ahead as this means all the stuff from the surgery will have gone to the wrong address. headdesk

Linda - emotionally I'm in disbelief... it's my first too, and until I've actually had the scan I don't think it's all going to sink in. And even then, probably not!

docpeppa - I was constipated for the first few weeks but it seems to have cleared up now. Until it decides to do it again, of course... I'm eating as much fruit and veg and drinking as much water as I can manage to stave off the inevitable.

Rhiannon85 · 02/09/2014 13:42

squatting yes my husband gets awful seasickness (and he in the navy lol) and said to try the travel bands if I get nausea - let us know if they work!

Hope everyone all good, I've had no nausea - kind of wish I did so that I didn't feel so normal although I'm sure all of you who have it will totally disagree!!

What's everyone doing for maternity clothes? Anyone started buying yet? Any good recommendations? Love Isabella Oliver but £££££

ChickenMe · 02/09/2014 13:44

Squatting phew it's not just me. I bought some travel bands too but have to keep removing them to avoid awkward questions.
I didn't realise I'd be so paranoid about people knowing. Where I work its a combative/physical sort of job so I'm now off the front line as it were. And people are so nosey, asking loads of questions. My immediate team know, that's it. I've taken to just staring at people who ask and not replying. Seriously they have no tact! Feeling sensitive. Anyone else fed up with noseys?

berberana · 02/09/2014 13:46

Hi All, I've not been posting much but trying to read and keep up! I'm 8+2 now and starting to feel more confident that it's here to stay! Sorry to all those for whom the week has not brought positive news.

I have felt pretty ropey the last few weeks, like a hangover hits me like a ton of bricks about 2pm and lasts til it's time for bed! I've also not had much appetite, just wanting to live on buttered toast and cake which won't be helping the afternoon crash! However, things seem to be picking up this week, I feel slightly more lively and I treated myself to some M&S salads for lunches at work to tempt me into eating more sensibly - so far so good!

Thanks for that yoga link JaneyTea - I have booked into a prenatal yoga class but can't start til 12 weeks. My life is currently an exercise free zone but already the back pain I had when pregnant with DS is niggling so need to get stretching ASAP. Some of the short prenatal routines on that website look ideal for getting started, and am hoping to go swimming a couple of times a week as well if I can fit it in... Full time job, toddler and DH working all hours means that's easier said than done though!!

Rhiannon85 · 02/09/2014 13:48

lauren82000 hello! Sorry to hear of two prev mc's, everything crossed for you. Very funny about boobs, I think mine are tiny bit bigger and defo heavier - so maybe not too bad an observation (/feel!) On yours I would say! :)

Days are seriously dragging, I can't wait for week 12!!!

berberana · 02/09/2014 13:51

Rhiannon - I bought some IO clothes during my first pregnancy, lent them a friend when she was expecting twins and they still look like new. I bought them all in the sale /clearance/ outlet sections of the website which made them a lot more affordable. Also try eBay, there are usually quite a lot in there. I also had a few Boden things which lasted well too but they seem to have limited their maternity range. Best preg jeans came from Mamas and Papas, didn't want to stop wearing them!! Looking forward to bring able to wear them again this time around!

CareBearWithFangs · 02/09/2014 14:26

Where's everyone getting this about herbal tea from? I've been drinking lots of chamomile and spearmint tea. I can't think what harm it could possibly do? I'm sticking to what's on the nhs website which says herbal tea is fine.

I've also got my travel sickness bands on now. DD slept really badly last night so feeling awful today.

I'm also starting to think that worrying should be listed as a pregnancy symptom! I can't seem to stop worrying!

Welcome newbies Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 02/09/2014 15:13

Tiredness definitely makes nausea/ms worse JeewizzJen, so getting more sleep should make it better :)

Hope it went well JaneyTea!

Sorry to hear about your dh littleluna89, hope that you are home now and he's forgiven you!

Enjoy your time off wineandchoccy!

I'm also fluctuating LindaLove, I have moments of belly rubbing and smiling but lots of worrying about getting to excited and I'm also really struggling at my boys not knowing and a lot of other people too.

Congratulations Lauren82000 and sorry to hear about your losses :(

Congratulations docpepper. Sorry to hear about your ectopic :(

Hope your get your doctors sorted out re address reasonably easily AnniaFausta.

I got most of mine from H&M and bloomin marvellous last time Rhainnon85. I didn't show with wait her of mine until 20weeks but I was a lot heavier so we'll see how long my normal clothes last!

Wherediparkmybroom · 02/09/2014 16:38

Hi docpepper, I am and suffering with trapped wind, doesn't bode well for the piles staying away! I had the same thing with no 2! No pun intended.
The midwife just rang! at last booking in Thursday and a scan the end of next week! I just realised I'm 11 weeks now! suddenly feels more real.

Lindalove · 02/09/2014 16:41

cinnamongreyhound I find the not telling people really stressful actually, I mean - I really don't mind if people know and its 'too' early, as anyone with any sense would know that means possible risks, and all you need to say afterwards is 'we're not talking about it much til after 12 weeks' and everyone gets the message. Its much harder I think to pretend to everyone things aren't different! So I'm telling my bro & SIL this weekend, which will mean best mate, mum, boss and bro/SIL know, which is kind of everyone that matters anyway. The only one I am wavering on is my dad as he might worry too much otherwise.

BitchPeas · 02/09/2014 17:01

Hi to newbies and congratulations Thanks

Im feeling awful today, headachy nauseous, and cramping. Also so so tired and cannot sleep properly!

I have a scan tomorrow morning at 11. I'm so nervous. I should be 7+4 tomorrow so will they have to do a transvaginal scan or could he see on an abdominal one? If it makes a difference he's a consultant that specialises in ultrasounds in the first trimester.
The thought of having a transvaginal scan is making me want to be sick, I had very bad experiences when I had my TFMR, but I really don't want to make a fuss if they have no option, so I just want to no if an abdominal one is an option so I can prepare myself if not?!

Sorry for the ramble my anxiety is through the roof Sad

Cookiepants87 · 02/09/2014 17:12

Chicken I'm the same with my sickness bands, I can't face wearing them at work, everyone would know!! Feel like poop today and just soooo bloated (but the snacking to ward if sickness hasn't really helped me today!) I'm 6 weeks tomorrow but is it normal to feel this bloated so early on? I have discovered an amazing pregnancy modesty band my friend uses (she's 10 weeks) and Deffo thinking of getting some for my holiday in 3 weeks!! (Don't think I can fit in my summer clothes due to bloatedness) ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

CareBearWithFangs · 02/09/2014 17:26

Bitchpeas the scan I had at the weekend was a vaginal one and I was 6 weeks. But apparently my womb is titled and that's why she had to do it that way. She tried to do in through my stomach first. Maybe prepare yourself for the vaginal one just in case?

Lauren82000 · 02/09/2014 17:54

I've got a scan on Friday I'll be 7 weeks I'm hoping they might get something abdominal but I guess it's gonna be an internal. That's gonna be fun DH is coming too and as much as he has seen pretty much everything including our daughter coming out of me there is something just a bit wrong with having an audience for it.

Lindalove · 02/09/2014 18:56

OMG just tried Fetal Doppler and after 10 minutes faffing found a heartbeat! I'm 9 weeks 4 days and blob is right by my pelvic bone, very low down.

Lindalove · 02/09/2014 18:57

It was certainly not my heart at 170 bpm btw.. ;)

JeewizzJen · 02/09/2014 19:02

AW how lovely Linda!! SmileSmile

I came home to my 12wk scan appt letter, 3 weeks today! Hurrah!

Lindalove · 02/09/2014 19:03

jeewizz hurrah yes!

minipie · 02/09/2014 19:27

wow Linda that's early to get a heartbeat! I have a doppler somewhere from last time, will try it out when I get back home - I will be nearly 10 weeks by then. yours sounds fancier than mine though if it gives you a heart rate!

BitchPeas I had several early scans last time due to on and off bleeding/spotting - I think I had one at 6, 7.5 and 10 weeks - and they were all internal, so suspect yours might be. but, as I recall, it's all pretty gentle - no speculum I think (might be misremembering?) just the "dildocam" which is rounded and there was no discomfort at all, just a bit of cold gel. Do tell the consultant about your bad experience and they will be extra gentle I'm sure.

Hello to the new joiners, welcome and congratulations!

hope those with bleeding are doing ok, fingers crossed for you.

my boobs are definitely bigger - even DH noticed! God knows what they will be like by the end of pregnancy at this rate Confused

LadyNovember · 02/09/2014 19:33

I hear ya with the constipation, docpepper. It's not something I'm used to and I've been tearing/bleeding. Sooo nice. Blush I ate curry a couple of hours ago and it gave me diarrhoea pretty quick (have ibs)..felt AMAZING haha Blush

LadyNovember · 02/09/2014 19:38

Oh and my boobs are deffo bigger and heavier..and sore!

Bought a D cup the other day for a little "growing room" (I'm normally a C) and it's pretty snug..! I like so far lol Grin

CareBearWithFangs · 02/09/2014 19:38

Linda that's amazing Grin how lovely.

Lindalove · 02/09/2014 19:47

minipie I've got a Sonoline B which was about forty quid as they say 9wks onwards it should work. Decided I wanted to be able to monitor things from though I know the docs think it's not a good idea/ will lead to mum to be hysteria. Feel quite relieved though ... Was fully expecting not to find it
