Part 2 of our bus journey.....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
catsofa · 31/08/2014 21:43

Cookiepants87 I think we have the same dates! I'm a bit unsure of mine because I think my last period started a bit half-heartedly on July 23rd and then properly the next day so I don't know if I should say I'm due 29th or 30th April, but I'm sure it's not all that accurate anyway. I've been going with 30th because it's easier to remember Blush

I went swimming this evening, I think my first time in an indoor swimming pool as an adult! Only did about 20 minutes, but that may well be enough to make me ache tomorrow. Very proud of myself for doing it though, now just have to keep it up.

Quick heads up - Tescos has a 3 for 2 offer on pregnancy vitamins at the moment.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 21:45

Will she take a bottle if she knows you're not in the building or even from a sippy cup? Personally I wouldn't worry now, milk demands changed dramatically for my two between 10 and 15 months and if you're in hospital for a few days she will have to have what's there or nothing and your supply will still be there to feed her when home and she can always have a feed when visiting. How do you feel about tandem feeding? Ds1 stopped at 15 months so I didn't have to worry. Ds2 was a nightmare to stop feeding but he was only having bedtime feed by 15months and if dh and I went out and he stayed with my mum he wouldn't have anything at all. He finally stopped at 2.5 with a lot of persuasion from me dh insisted it was getting a bit weird :(

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 21:49

Thanks carebearwithfangs, I don't think I'd be as strict with it if I didn't know I had this team race to do, I don't want to let my club down so I feel a lot of pressure to do well. I will run very gently as long as I can, also I know the sickness will pass and I'll want to run again so I don't want to lose my fitness!

I'm finding it difficult these days - swing wildly between being normal and happy and thinking the worst, lying awake now contemplating miscarriage statistics for the hundredth time. My friend told me about her miscarriages (I can't remember why, just came up in conversation she doesn't know we were trying) and her mmc and now that's all I can think about, that well get to the 12 week scan and bean will be gone. I've got no real reason to feel so miserable, I don't know what's wrong with me!

Cookiepants87 · 01/09/2014 06:54

Let me know how you get on squattingneville! Smile

Catsofa I've been wanting to I swimming too, might start it up again this week if I can find my costume lol!! I'm feeling so fat and bloated at the moment which is getting me down (that and the fact I'm going away in 3 weeks and have to squeeze my bloatedness into swimwear Confused) I am not that big, size 14 with big boobies and have a waist so I'm in proportion, just my belly feels huuuuuuge atm which is getting me down xxxx

Stuntman · 01/09/2014 06:55

Bonjour have you tried mixing the formula with expressed milk so the taste is more familiar?

One tip for MS is to have something dry such as a cracker to eat before you even get up in the morning. It's too late now but I read that taking magnesium prenatally can reduce nausea so anyone that's suffering now might want to consider that for future pregnancies.

I'm trying to get back on track with exercise this pregnancy. A few weeks ago I was doing a lot of Jillian Michaels DVDs so I'm trying to stay fitter. I had terrible problems with sciatica in my last pregnancy, including having to have steroid injections into my hips which they can only do once per pregnancy. I went for a short run (1.1 miles) yesterday and did some kettlebells and I'm feeling it today! I have pilates today and I don't want to tell the instructor yet as it's so early but I'm sure at this stage there isn't much to worry about apart from avoiding crunch-type exercises.

dancestomyowntune · 01/09/2014 07:17

just realised i am 8 weeks today! i reckon this week could fly by, dd1 starts secondary school on wednesday, last week of holidays for my younger three, midwife app on.thursday and back to dance on saturday. Grin then three little ones return to school next monday and my next scan next tuesday... Grin

having said all that nausea is really affecting me now. i haven't actually been sick, but i cant face food and i feel awful.

also dd2 fell off the trampoline yesterday Sad we took her to minor injuries, and they treated her with painkillers and said to bring her back in for an xray if she is still complaining of shoulder pain today. definitely think she is concussed and possibly a fracture to her collar bone Sad she slept ok though so hoping things dont look so bad this morning.

how is everyone else?

AnniaFausta · 01/09/2014 07:33

trying - so much sympathy. I'm doing something similar - one minute thinking about redecorating the nursery and getting onto nursery waiting lists, the next worrying about miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, a hitherto unsuspected rare genetic disease... it's such a nightmare waiting, especially as I'm rubbish at not knowing what's going on at the best of times! Hang in there.

dances - I've got my weeks marked up in my diary already ;) Silly, but being able to say I'm 7W+1, then 7W+2 and so on makes me feel as if I'm actually doing something! Hope that DD2 is more herself today and no return trip is required.

Bonjour - no advice to offer, but I hope things sort themselves out soon.

I'm off to the osteopath this morning, so that's another person who'll be told before either of our families... I can't get over the weirdness of disclosing this to total strangers before you do to your nearest and dearest.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 07:36

Sorry you're feeling so down tryinghard2, I'm trying my best not to think about it as there's nothing you can do it to change it Thanks

Hope things fly by dancestomyowntune! Really hope for best possible outcome for your dd. My friends little girl broke her arm while I was looking after her a few weeks ago it was horrible :(

I think the eating before bed thing is so you don't get too hungry in the morning. I'm sure having low blood sugar is what makes you feel terrible.

dancestomyowntune · 01/09/2014 08:16

So have I Anna!!! As soon as I had the EDD from my scan last week! Grin

Dd2 has got up this morning and seems to be feeling a bit better, although she keeps clutching her head bless her! A huge egg on it, and nasty abbreviations to her cheek which are going to look lovely in the back to school photos Confused

I am hoping we can avoid returning for x-rays!

Rhiannon85 · 01/09/2014 08:23

Good morning everyone,

Does anyone have any tips for bloating? Every time I eat my tummy gets huge and I look about 3 months!! I was drinking peppermint tea but apparently that's not good in early pregnancy?

I'm not eating anything with carbs...literally just two scrambled eggs this morning and boom!

Also, I'm not smoking or drinking so close friends and family are starting to ask questions, I really don't want to share this with them until 12 weeks, finding it really hard...apart from not seeing anyone for next 6 weeks....any advice? I go bright red when I lie Angry

Rhiannon85 · 01/09/2014 08:28

ALSO (sorry for all questions!), I keep track of what I am eating using my fitness pal app and finding it really hard to eat 1500 calories per day, anyone got any HIGH calorie healthy snack/meal ideas?

JeewizzJen · 01/09/2014 08:45

Morning all, I'm going to tell my boss about my pregnancy today.... I'm bizarrely nervous! Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 08:52

No tips re hiding not smoking or drinking Rhiannon85 but if you are not managing your calorie allowance I wouldn't stress. Personally I wouldn't try to make myself eat more if I didn't fancy/need it. My belly is much bigger at the end if the day than in the morning too, keeping hydrated should help with bloating but not sure there's much you can do!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 08:53

Good luck JeewizzJen, x-posts :)

minipie · 01/09/2014 08:57

Rhiannon - here's some high calorie but healthy snacks:

  • hard boiled eggs
  • avocados
  • unsalted nuts, eg almonds
  • oatcakes and hummus
  • dried fruit (quite sugary though)
  • cheese
  • muesli

But...early pregnancy is really not the time to be limiting your calories! Unless on medical advice? And, you need carbs for energy (and combatting nausea!) Unfortunately bloating is standard for early pregnancy, I'm the same, but I think best to eat what your body needs and put up with the bloating rather than restricting your diet.

I found the best excuse for not drinking was to say I was hungover or feeling ill. some people say they are driving or on antibiotics but among my friends those seem to be giveaways!

littleluna89 · 01/09/2014 09:11

Have had a headache for the past couple of days but my symptoms have otherwise gone AWOL o.O I'm trying not to get worked up about it, but haven't dared mention it to MiL who suffered a lot of miscarriages in case she tells me that happened with any of her losses :s I'm hoping it's just the stress of being at work and that every thing will come back today.

A number of ladies mentioned exercise, I have been swimming with DD so shall continue to do so, though am hoping I can con my sister into taking DD off me for a few hours each week so I can go to antenatal swimming, and once I've had my scan am also going to look at antenatal yoga.

I'd requested a move back to my old department a couple of weeks ago as a weekend position had come up there and they're about to start putting out Christmas stuff (I can't express enough my love for glitter and baubles) but found out this weekend that I didn't get it because in my "current condition" I can't lift Christmas trees and as I'm going on mat leave in the new year they'd still have to hire a new person then so it is easier to just hire them in time for Christmas. Didn't quite have the heart to tell my manager (who's wife is pregnant) that he'd possibly just broken employment law by refusing me the job based in the fact I'm preggers sigh

We're picking up our new chickens on Thursday! I'm impossibly excited, but poor DH who will be on chicken cleaning duty whilst I'm pregnant is less excited :p

Cassieyellow · 01/09/2014 09:25

I want chickens! How exciting! You can look forward to some yummy dippy eggs in the spring! Hope you don't analyse the symptom thing too much..it's so hard not to. Things could change again by the end of the day...
Mini pie, that lost is really useful. I keep eating my DD's cheese triangles.
Has anyone's brain gone to pot completely? I am just awful at the moment. No short term memory, can't find anything....if I was a doctor or something I a sure I would be dangerous right now!

Cassieyellow · 01/09/2014 09:26

Oh and I am literally standing by front door waiting for post, hoping my scan letter arrives..!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 09:27

If you are quite small and low activity levels I would have thought 1500 calories is not limited I take minipie. I used mfp to lose weight and my maintenance calories were 1700 and I'm quite active, 5'5" and 9 1/2st. I was quite paranoid about regaining my weight and used it for quite a long time to keep an eye on what I was eating, that may not be the case for Rhiannon85 of course, I'm just assuming!!

That's a shame littleluna89, you're being very good not making a fuss!!

BananaToast · 01/09/2014 09:55

Still bleeding Sad and struggling to think of anything else at the moment! Trying to be reassured that it's still brown and I'm only noticing it when I go to the toilet, but keep feeling like I'm just waiting to miscarry. I just want to know what's going on!

HippoPottyMouth · 01/09/2014 11:14

Mine has started again too, banana. Got a bad feeling about this Sad

tickletink · 01/09/2014 12:05

Hi guys, just checking in. I read along every day but I just don't find the time to post the way I would like to!

So sorry for the bad news I've read and delighted for the newcomers.

I'm 6+2 today and I have to say, the past two weeks might've been the longest of my life! I'm really, really suffering with morning sickness and have been since 4+6 although I was just nauseous for a few days before that. Seriously considering going to the doc for help with it!

The next six weeks are going to be soooooooooooooooo long!

Is anyone else finding it really difficult to just put faith in the fact that everything is going well? I had some painful cramping last night (I've had bits here and there but this was the first time I wanted to heat it to treat it) and it got me worried. It's terrifying - you just put your faith in this pink line that appeared one time you peed and you know nothing more for another eight weeks or something! It's going to send me looney, I'm certain.

chiliplant · 01/09/2014 12:13

I have t say I'm so forgetful! Feel like I'm in a fug the whole time.x
