Thanks for the message cinnamongreyhound and minipie. Snack ideas look great. Sorry, I meant I'm finding it hard to eat 1500 calories as in - I'm eating too many! Always comes up around 900-1200, was just a bit paranoid that I should be eating more.

I've just downloaded a lovely app called pregnancy hd and got my husband to download it too. He is leaving on Sunday until Christmas, I'm going to be so different when he gets back Sad

Anyone else a military WAG?

Cassieyellow · 01/09/2014 12:20

Sorry banana and hippy...horrid. I had this a lot last time. Wish there wasn't all this waiting and guessing. I had a vivid dream that I bled lots. Guess it's on all of our minds.
Rhiannon - I was with last pregnancy but DH has since left ( that's been interesting! But he's nearly on the same planet as me now, ha ha). Sorry can't go though same experience with you this time but I do understand what it's like at least. My DH then went away again (he was home for last month) when my DD was 4 weeks old. Crazy times but do-able!!

JaneyTea · 01/09/2014 13:11

How did telling your boss go JeeWizzJen?

I'm thinking about telling mine, just because of needing time off for appointments. Saw the nurse at the GP surgery this morning - was an appointment that I'd booked before I knew I was pregnant. Was weird to say the words out loud to someone other than DP. Feel much better for doing so - I'm overweight and have a mental health problems, so I was half-terrified she'd tell me I have no business having children, (which of course, she didn't and was actually lovely).

Made my appointment with the midwife - suddenly all getting real.

Hippo it's rubbish isn't it. I'm on constant alert, checking to see if it's any worse and hoping desperately it will just stop and everything will be ok. Think I've got no chance of lasting til next Friday for my scan, by my dates I'll be 6+6 on Saturday so think I'll go back to the EPU and ask for a scan then as they should be able to see more by then. Just got to get through the week.

LadyNovember · 01/09/2014 14:17

Sorry to hear you two are having a hard time of it :( keeping everything crossed for you both. Xx

Stuntman · 01/09/2014 14:23

Rhiannon are you eating a low carb diet or just not able to stomach carbs? I normally eat low carb-high fat and I'm not sure what's best to eat while pregnant. I'm experimenting with a bit more carbs today to see how I feel so I've had some grapes.

Is anyone else really moody? I spent all morning shouting at the kids and tbh I don't think they were really misbehaving I just seem to be much more emotional at the moment. I had to come off my anti-depressants cold turkey as use in early pregnancy is associated with congenital heart defects so I don't know whether it's normal pregnancy hormones or withdrawal going on.

I'm six weeks today but I don't really feel pregnant yet. I never believe there's actually a baby in there until I see it at the 12-week scan.

JaneyTea · 01/09/2014 14:38

Stuntman oh yes, also moody here. Door slams, snapping and left a full basket of shopping in the Co-Op because I couldn't deal with their terrible service.... and to think I'm normally described as calm and controlled....pfffttt. I've also had some moments where I feel remarkably in love with the whole world as well. Blush

But take extra care, because withdrawal symptoms from ADs can be horrid Flowers

Lindalove · 01/09/2014 14:46

Hi I'm on Setraline ADs for anxiety and am staying on them - GP said the risks were very low. They do say don't do cold turkey if you are coming off them as withdrawal can be hard, so take care Stuntman with that.

CareBearWithFangs · 01/09/2014 14:52

Stuntman I've come off my AD's too and I've been horribly moody. I came off mine fairly gradually but I've still had days where I've felt awful and I know I've been too harsh on DD for not much. Look after yourself, have you asked your doctor is there's any alternative medication you can take?

Firsttimer9981 · 01/09/2014 14:52

How has everyone's experience been with booking scans? I've been trying to book an 8 week scan (required due to fertility treatment) for 3 weeks and keep being told that they can't book it and to ring back next week. Now I've been told that the only way I will get an appointment is if I agree that they can just ring me on the day when they have a space... and I'm supposed to just drop everything at work and run to the hospital?! I explained that dh is a teacher so we need some notice and I was told that it's ok, it won't interfere with work because the scan will be before 7am...so they're going to ring me on the day, before 7am?! I don't know if I'm being unreasonable, but this seems like an incredibly poor service to me!

CareBearWithFangs · 01/09/2014 14:53

Firsttimer that sounds awful! Is that through the nhs? I don't see how that can possibly be manageable?

Firsttimer9981 · 01/09/2014 15:18

I'm glad it's not just me being unreasonable! It's through the NHS - Stepping Hill hospital in Stockport. There's only one woman who does the early scans and I've had bad experiences with her all the way through our fertility treatment. She just seems to be so inflexible and it's stressing me out even more!

BananaToast · 01/09/2014 15:28

Firsttimer that really doesn't seem right! My experience with arranging appointments has been really positive - I've just called up and they have slotted me in at a time that suits. Surely there must be a better way to do things seeing as you know in advance when you'll need the scan!

JeewizzJen · 01/09/2014 16:32

Well telling the boss went fine, he was really lovely! I shouldn't have been worried really. He's a good guy, with young kids of his own so he's sympathetic at least. I feel so relieved that he now knows, there's so much going on at the moment that it will impact and I felt so guilty not making him aware.

stuntman horribly moody here. I've been doing exactly the same as you with my DS, my patience is very thin with things I ordinarily wouldn't fuss too much about. It's horrible isn't it, bloomin hormones!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 17:12

Sorry to hear you're both still spotting BananaToast and HippoPottyMouth sending positive thoughts Thanks

Glad to hear you had a lovely nurse JaneyTea!

It comes and goes with me Stuntman but when I'm grumpy I'm really grumpy and everything annoys me!!!!

That sounds very odd apart from anything else firsttimer9981! I guess the trouble is if you want to use them you have to go by their rules :(

Rhiannon85 · 01/09/2014 17:16

Stuntman just trying to avoid processed carbs to help with bloating I really do look huge, I need to get some baggy work tops! And maybe eat more apricots Wink

Yes to moods too, nearly had a breakdown when I got lost whilst driving last night!

Trying to book my first appointment ATM, not one until end of sept and I'm nearly 6 weeks, that's too long to wait isn't it?

BananaToast · 01/09/2014 17:23

Rhiannon it doesn't sound too late to me. I'm 6+1 and my booking appointment isn't until early October when I'll be 11+0. I think as long as they take bloods at least 5 days before your scan it's ok - can't remember where I read that though.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 17:47

I'll be nearly 10 weeks when I have mine Rhiannon85. I had my bloods done for glucose and blood type at booking apt with my other two but they took blood straight after my scan when I had the nuchal screening with ds2. If you want nuchal screening that has to be between 11 and 14 weeks I believe.

Oh Squatting I'm so sorry to hear about your gran Thanks hope you're ok.

CareBearWithFangs · 01/09/2014 18:55

Squatting, I'm so sorry for your loss. It must be so tough when your hormones are already all over the place. I hope your ok and you manage to get some time to test and properly grieve.
