So sorry for those of you that have had losses, its the hardest thing to get through, am hoping for a bfp in the near future for you.

Chicken, I am 9+2 today to! I am feeling the same as you, its almost constant feeling pants and if its not the nausea its a headache or dizziness or the taste that I can't describe that wont go away! I am snacking most of the day and that doesn't even seem to be working now. I am hoping that this all fades nearer 12 weeks than 20!!

Banana, hold onto the fact that its brown and not red, you've had an early scan havent you? so the stats are def in your favour. its terrifying though Sad

Good luck Carebear, let us know how you have got on.

CareBearWithFangs · 31/08/2014 13:24

Scan went ok. Had a vag cam because I'm not as far along as I thought (boo Sad). Also I apparently have a titled womb so she struggled to find anything at first, which was pretty terrifying. But we saw the yolk sac and a heartbeat as well so that's good. My new EDD is 26th April, so I'm back to being 6 weeks today.

DP and I are still trying to decide now whether we should have a nifty test and a scan or get the cvs test done. So confused!

BitchPeas · 31/08/2014 13:30

Glad you saw a heartbeat CareBear vaginal scans are pants though aren't they.

Is the nifty lower risk? When do you have to decide by?

BananaToast · 31/08/2014 13:38

Great news that you saw a heartbeat CareBear

lila I had a scan on Friday and hey saw a yolk sac but said it was too early to see a foetus so I've got another one booked for 2 weeks time. They did say I can go back in a week to the walk in clinic if bleeding continues and I can't wait, but that I've got a better chance of seeing a heartbeat if I can wait the 2 weeks. So nerve-wracking!

dancestomyowntune · 31/08/2014 14:14

i waited the two weeks banana. it was hell on earth but when we went back there was a clear heartbeat. try to be patient if you can.

HippoPottyMouth · 31/08/2014 14:18

Hi carebear, v pleased your scan was ok Smile
Why do you think you need a cvs? Apologies if I've missed reason previously.

I am going to book in for the harmony / nifty test at 10 weeks. Am paranoid due to my age (38), and as they are low (well, no) risk it seems like a good option. Plus it means a scan at 10 weeks Wink

Cookiepants87 · 31/08/2014 15:29

Hey ladies! Just been away on an impromptu camping trip so sorry ice been away for a few days, couldn't read trough all the messages but so pleased for all of you who have had scans! Told SIL who was over the moon and was really looking after me this weekend! She's had 5 kids so was very lovely and gave me a few bits of advice Smile I'm ok in myself, had to buy sea bands which worked a treat but hiding them was not easy lol!! Had quite a bit if nausea this weekend but not ms yet, just feel so tired and fragile atm!

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend so far! Smile Xxx

CareBearWithFangs · 31/08/2014 15:37

Bitchpeas the nifty is no risk because it's non invasive, it's 99.9% accurate and it's that 0.1% that's worrying me.

Hippo, we had a termination for medical reasons in April after we had a cvs test which showed our baby had Down's syndrome. The hospital has said we can have another cvs if we want one but I'm so worried about the risk of miscarriage.

Banana hope the next 2 weeks go really quick for you! Have you got anything to look forward to or distract you in the next 2 weeks?

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 16:13

So glad you saw a heartbeat carebearwithfangs!

Sorry you're a spotting again BananaToast try not to worry for the entire 2 weeks Wink

Feeling the best I have for quite a few days today :) I've even managed a whole cup of tea!!! Been to a birthday party this morning and a run this afternoon, can't believe how much fitness I've lost in the last two weeks! I've been feeling crappy so I've gone from running 4 times a week to 3 times in 2 weeks. I'm scared to push myself though as I'd be devastated to do any damage.

Siarie · 31/08/2014 16:45

Hey ladies,

Reporting in from sunny France, I won't be able to keep up with this thread for two weeks but hope I can read back and get some idea how you are all doing. Nausea has started to kick in for me 5w + 3 so I'm expecting the full force to arrive week 6.

Luckily no bleeding so far and nothing to worry me, I really hope it stays that way. I sent an email to make a early scan for week 8 when I get back just waiting for confirmation now.

We told our PIL because were on holiday with them and it would have been obvious, they have been talking non stop about it! :D

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

HippoPottyMouth · 31/08/2014 16:55

Ah sorry about that carebear. Must have been incredibly tough.
99.9 is really very accurate though, and presumably you would have the nuchal test too, so should have a fairly good picture then, and if still concerned could think about a cvs then?

Cookiepants87 · 31/08/2014 17:06

Siarie pleased to hear you're having a lovely time! Grin

I went back and counted my cycle lengths and the average was 31 not 32/33 like I thought! That takes me to an EDD of 29th April! Eeeeek!!!

I think that takes me to 5+4 today Grin having bouts of nausea and off tea which is not like me at all!! When I feel hot it's super hot and when I'm not hot I'm freezing!!!

How's everyone else feeling today? Xx 17 days and counting to my first midwife appointment!! What can I expect from the booking appointment? Will DH need to come with me? Xx

Flychick2014 · 31/08/2014 17:10

Hi all - I'm a total newbie here. Currently 9+2, due Apr 3rd with 1st. Have been having an easy time so far, but horribly hormonal last couple of days - DH just annoying me by being in same room!

Anyway, here's us: me and him pushing 40, married - 3 years of fibroid horrors and consequent TTC failure ending in open myomectomy last March and now here :)

lila35 · 31/08/2014 17:18

oh Banana, what a wait, You can only see how you feel and see how your anxiety is, and thats going to depend on whether you get much more brown cm. I am really hoping all is well for you. I'm not sure I could wait if I knew I could have a scan in a week....

Good news on your scan care bear, you must be relieved.

Cinnamon, my midwife told me last week that they tell you to take it easy with the exercise because everything is much stretchier muscle wise for you and you could easily do some damage to yourself not the little squidge currently growing. She was very clear that if I had been exercising regularly to carry on at the level I was if I felt I could but not to push it to hard. I didn't have the nerve to tell her I stopped exercising the minute I started ivf Wink

Feeling pretty bleughh again, but better when I am out and doing stuff, its just so tiring, I am planning some quality sofa time whilst dp is out, I'm sure I have some trashy tv recorded.

AnniaFausta · 31/08/2014 18:15

Lila - that's why I'm waiting till I hit 12 weeks/get through the scans before trying to do anything more sustained about exercise... I'm really looking forward to getting into antenatal yoga, which ironically is easier to find a class for around my way than it is a standard yoga class! I used to do it a lot a couple of years ago, but some job changes and moving around mean I've got out of the habit.

JeewizzJen · 31/08/2014 18:21

cookie I'm right off tea too, it tastes horrible right now! Most unlike me too, especially at work.

The booking in appt is pretty dull - it's really just the midwife filling in your white notes which you'll keep with you throughout the pregnancy. So lots of questions about medical history etc. It's really not necessary for your other half to go in my opinion, save that for the scans, and the 16 weeks appt when you get to hear the heartbeat. Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 18:59

Congratulations flychick2014, sorry to hear you've had such a long journey but yay for your little bean :)

Thanks lila35, I didn't exercise at all when I had my boys so I never asked the question! I have heard it's not great to just stop. I generally keep a fitness to be able to do 6 miles but I have a team event in 3 weeks that requires me to do 9. I did 8 three weeks ago but ms has struck since then and I've been quite lazy. It's hard to know if I'm being weak minded or my body is genuinely struggling.

I took my dh with ds1 cookiepants87 but as long as you can answer some general health questions about him you'll be fine. I think they ask age, any conditions (eg my dh is asthmatic) I think they also asked about anyone who had baby related problems in the family (eg my cousin had the hip thingy that meant he had to be in a cast when he was a baby but that's too distant apparently). I seem to remember they also asked about occupation and other children (my dh has a ds who's not mine). Otherwise it's all about you, last contraception, previous pregnancies, health, which screeni tests you want, info on future appointments- scan, gtt if you need one, anti d if you need it, and general midwife apts. she also asked with ds1 if we wanted to go to antenatal classes and gave me nhs pregnancy and baby books. Ds2 is 4 in 2 weeks so it's a bit distant to me Wink

BonjourMinou · 31/08/2014 19:52

Hi all and congratulations to the newcomers Flowers

I have been feeling so, so nauseous today. I know it's probably because I need to drink more but I'm really struggling to keep myself hydrated at the moment.

Tried to put the baby down for bed with formula instead of breastmilk earlier so DH can eventually put her down to sleep instead of me (i.e. when morning sickness is particularly bad and definitely when I am in hospital with the newborn). Let's just say it was not a success.

My next step I suppose will be to try giving her formula during the day to get her used to it a bit. If anyone has any better tips do please let me know!

Feeling better now I've had dinner. I'm going to be sooooo fat by the end of this pregnancy if my only answer to stave off "morning" sickness is to eat!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 19:57

How old is she Bonjourminou? Will she take expressed milk from a bottle?

BonjourMinou · 31/08/2014 20:16

Hi cinnamon. She's just turned 10 months. Won't take a bottle despite many, many attempts. I can't express more than about an ounce so I have given up doing that, especially since she wasn't drinking it anyway! Tried giving formula in a tommee tippee sippy cup the other day but the flow was too fast for her to drink lying down. Gave her the formula in a mam sippy cup with a special valve to slow down flow earlier and she was happy drinking it for about 1 minute until she realised it wasn't the real stuff and then all hell broke loose and she screamed and screamed until I caved in and just bf her.

minipie · 31/08/2014 20:29

evening all!

So sorry to hear some more of us are off the bus. All my best wishes for next time.

welcome and congrats flychick on your hard won BFP.

Thyroid ladies - I too am hypothyroid, not sure about antibodies. I increased my dose by 2 pills a week (so over a week I take 9 x 50mcg rather than 7x) shortly before I got pg and have continued that since BFP. I've had one blood test since BFP, looked ok but I need another next week. Someone said they are being tested every 2 weeks wow! I'm aiming for every 6 weeks I think.

I had shared consultant/GP/midwife care last time because of the thyroid, but the consultant didn't do much tbh, just checked my blood test results were looking ok. I didn't have to increase thyroxine last time. Being hypothyroid didn't make me high risk for the birth, as long as bloods all looked fine I was told I'd be low risk. (in the end I gave birth at 34 weeks so was high risk but for another reason!) I think I was due to have an extra scan, at 36 weeks to check growth, I think this was due to the thyroid (am a bit hazy on this as I never got to that stage).

I have realised the only way for me to avoid feeling sick is to eat every 3 hours! So I am having a mid morning and mid afternoon snack as well as 3 full meals. I am going to be huge by the end of the first trimester and I am paranoid it's twins. let's hope the nausea goes away quickly.

Cookiepants87 · 31/08/2014 21:04

Thanks ladies! Spoke with the midwife at the end of last week and said I need to fill in what I can and look up screenings etc.... Think I'll go trough them with DH this week so I am prepared for my appointment! Yaaaay!! Off to bed now as feeling REALLY sick and my stomach just feels so unsettled!!

Tip for anyone who's interested from my SIL... If you get bad morning sickness, have a dry piece of toast just before bed... Apparently it worked with all 5 of hers GrinThanks xx

dancestomyowntune · 31/08/2014 21:33

bonjour my half sister was ebf when her mother went AWOL when she was about four months old. my dad found the only way he could get her to feed was to feed her milk off a sterile teaspoon. then i think he progressed to a cup.

CareBearWithFangs · 31/08/2014 21:41

Cinnamon I'm so impressed your running at all. I seem to have given up any attempts to keep fit. Although the advice I've had is same as lila, your not going to hurt the bean with exercise just yourself. I've just given in to any excuse to be lazy Grin

Siarie, it's brilliant your PIL's are excited Grin my DP's mum has been such a massive help to us since we had DD.

Hippo that's the plan regarding testing, I'm just hoping that if everything comes back as low risk I can accept that and not worry.

Cookie I wouldn't being DP unless he really wants to go. It's the most boring midwife appointment you'll have. Maybe ask him if there's any medical history you need to know about just in case?

Congratulations flychick Grin

I'm also having 3 meals a day plus snacks to keep ms away. I'm going to be massive. Have started wearing my bump band because I can't do up my skinny jeans! I bought some size 12 jeans on Thursday and they already feel too tight, I was a size eight 3 weeks ago! On a completely unrelated note I had an amazing full English today, poached eggs and sourdough bread, yummy Smile

CareBearWithFangs · 31/08/2014 21:43

Sorry x posted with dances. That's sounds so difficult, did your sisters mother come back?
