Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Siarie & FizzyBubbly I have my first appointment next week but am unsure if I will be seen by a midwife or consultant as I had a total thyroidectomy in 2012. I am still under the care of my Endocinologist and am seeing him the day after my booking in appointment so we shall see. My Endocrinologist works out of a different hospital to the one where I will have the baby etc.

On finding out I was pregnant, I raised my thyroxine by 25mg/day and have been having fortnightly blood tests to check my levels. I also need to have my calcium and vitamin d levels checks as my parathyroids were damaged during surgery.

littleluna89 · 29/08/2014 18:06

choco and Bitchpeas Ahh that makes sense, I haven't been under any consultant care in the lead up, and I'm still not certain I'll be referred to a consultant anyway, but everyone I've spoken to who's had IUGR together with a PHH has gone on to have consultant lead care in subsequent pregnancies, and I wanted to see if I could go through my birth notes from last time with a specialist before the third trimester because I have no idea what they say and was never given a reason for the IUGR and lost rather a lot of bloody courtesy of the PPH so would like to see what preventative actions can be taken.

Lindalove · 29/08/2014 18:12

Gah so I'm 9 weeks on Sat, tomorrow, and have to say tiredness has rely kicked in this week. I've been off work today and managed to tidy the lounge and pop out to see a friend - by the time I got home was exhausted and slept from 3-5! That was after a good 8 hours last night.
Wondering if it's because body is now building baby and the placenta, which is why I'm finally seeing the tiredness kick in.

CareBearWithFangs · 29/08/2014 18:57

Linda, the tiredness is awful, hope you manage to get some rest.

I had pph with DD, I hope that doesn't mean I have to have a consultant led care. They haven't retrieved my notes from the hospital yet (because there not at my local hospital, when DD was born hospital was full so I ended up somewhere else) so I hope nothing changes when they do get them.

I think someone up thread asked about not having any symptoms and should they worry. If it makes you feel any better I barely had any symptoms with DD to the point that I was 18 weeks pregnant before I found out (a much easier way to do pregnancy I must say!). DD is absolutely fine.

FizzyBubbly · 29/08/2014 19:11

Wow carebear I would love to fast forward to 18 weeks! Skipping the ms, endless worries, and the early weeks which drag on forever would be great!

Cassieyellow · 29/08/2014 19:19

littleluna I had my booking in appt on Tuesday at 8 +3. I am at a city centre surgery - and castle midwife team or something. Midwife said scan date would be sent via letter, once she's put me on the system or whatever they do. I'll let you know when I get it.

pyrowall · 29/08/2014 20:03

I had my booking in yesterday - everything fine, bloods taken, bout of depression noted, ds birth story, GBS etc. Midwife was really nice - which I think helps!
I was very happy to come out of it still low-risk and able to go the midwife led unit. I was right on the cusp of BMI but just made it!! Also, having GBS in the past no longer excludes you from MLU - antibiotics on delivery then can go up to MLU. I was really happy to hear this!
Next midwife in 8 weeks, but just have to wait for the scan letter. I bet it'll be in the really busy week I have in 3 weeks time when we have important things to do at work that I can't really get out of!

littleluna89 · 29/08/2014 20:29

excellent cassie Shall keep my eyes peeled. I looked at joining the timber hill practice today (the waiting room was blissfully empty, I've never seen it so quiet there) but the receptionist wasn't able to tell me how long i'd have to wait for a booking appointment with the midwife so I was a little concerned that I'd end up waiting even longer, so I'll probably move after my booking in appointment as the sooner I can get away from the surgery I'm at the better!

Cassieyellow · 29/08/2014 20:40

Oh dear really? Hope you can move ASAP then but I suppose would make sense to move before.... Shame the scan obviously holds you back from doing that. Surely they'll have to fit you in because scan needs to be done before 14 weeks I thought.

AnniaFausta · 29/08/2014 21:00

And I've not been here for 24 hours before I want to check in with other people's experiences... I'm 6w+6 and this evening I found myself feeling as if I was going to faint when I was cooking dinner. Has anyone else had this problem?

BonjourMinou · 29/08/2014 21:03

Oh yes, I'm almost constantly feeling faint/lightheaded! It's my main symptom! x

Cassieyellow · 29/08/2014 21:48

Yep. Esp early weeks like you are now. In fact that's how I knew I was pregnant before taking test. 9 weeks now and doesn't happen so often strangely.

mamabear0315 · 29/08/2014 22:45

Hello :) thanks for all the support ladies!

Rustyzilla · 30/08/2014 00:14

Sending love and good wishes for the future to you Phryn Flowers, and apologies if I've missed others' sad news, this is one hectic thread.

Siarie and Fizzy, I have an under active thyroid, mine is hereditary so I think not the same (take it you have Hashimoto's?), and mine has been stable and managed for years. However, at pre-conception appointment with GP she emphasised that I should call straight away that I got a BFP as they would need to monitor me. Had first bloods done at 4 weeks (so days after I got BFP) and then every 2 weeks since.

Am now 8+1. I haven't had my booking in appointment yet but after GP referred me to local hospital I was sent an appt to see endocrinologist at 7 weeks and will see him twice more during pregnancy, assuming all is well. Blood tests will continue to be every 2 weeks On GP's instruction. I've also been sent an appointment for when I'm 16 weeks to see a cons. obst. So presume I am considered high risk. Guess I'll find iut when I eventually see a midwife! I'm in Essex btw, married 9 months, husband is 35, I am now 34.

Rustyzilla · 30/08/2014 00:31

Doh, edited because I am talking rubbish, just checked and mine is hereditary, it's hereditary auto-immune caused underactive thyroid. So presumably that means I have Hashimoto's. Have only had it 13 years, you would think I would know by now... Too early to blame baby brain?! Confused

Rhiannon85 · 30/08/2014 07:09

AnniaFausta hello and welcome! It's hard not to worry isn't it? Days just seem to drag and it's all you ever think about! I think I will be a lot less anxious after first scan or 12 weeks.

Does anyone you know when first scan is supposed to be? I haven't been able to book my appointment yet....

dancestomyowntune · 30/08/2014 07:10

Morning ladies! How are we all today? We took our kiddies to the circus last night and now I'm even more tired than I was. Made the mistake of putting a status on Facebook about being tired, an aunt instantly asked if I was pregnant. I didn't answer her. So hard to keep it quiet! Tis the worst kept secret Confused

Wherediparkmybroom · 30/08/2014 07:12

Morning all! Both kids are asleep and I have a cup of tea and quiet! I think I will just enjoy it!

JeewizzJen · 30/08/2014 07:21

Morning all, not been posting much but have been reading. So sorry to hear about those with sad news Sad

I'm 8+3 today, had my booking in appt yesterday so it's nice to have my notes and all that kind of stuff to make it feel like things are actually happening! I've been feeling so tired and nauseous for much of the day, it's rubbish. But of course the minute I get a bit if respite I'm paranoid there's something wrong. This pregnancy so far is definitely harder than my first!

I'm finding my patience with DS is very low. I feel really guilty but I just can't seem to avoid snapping at him for things I would normally give him some leeway on. I hate that irrational hormonal lack of control feeling Sad. Is anyone else struggling with that?

Stuntman · 30/08/2014 07:29

Ladies that are struggling with food and nausea, please don't worry about your baby. During the first trimester the yolk sac provides all the energy the baby needs.

LadyNovember · 30/08/2014 08:05

Why do people do that dances? Of course if you were ready to tell everyone, you would have! Hmm

dancestomyowntune · 30/08/2014 09:02

I couldn't believe an innocent comment about being tired and someone automatically thought "pregnant". Wouldn't even enter my head, and I am very baby minded!!! This is a distant relative too, not someone who knows me particularly well. The mind boggles!

Lionapril · 30/08/2014 09:43

Morning all from a new joiner!

I am 6w+5 and due on 21st April. Morning sickness kicks in this week, and it is not pleasant at all.....I also have stomach pain (any one has that?). Always have to vomit when stomach pain is at peak :-( Last night, I had my first experience phoning 111 because of a trace of blood in my vomiting. Went to out of Hour GP service and been reassured that it is normal.) This is our first child, and both my husband and I are very nervous....

In case you have not known and are searching a pregnancy book for the other half, I will recommend a good book-pregnancy for men! It is quite funny and not scaring like my pregnancy book!

Dance- I had the same experience with you. After posting I am getting very tired, I received several replies/questions about my pregnancy status. I must say that people are very sensitive...

Btw, I live in Leamington Spa, and married 3yrs. Both of us are 33.

Cannotbelieveit · 30/08/2014 10:14

Thought I'd pop in and say Hi and wish you all well! I was on the April groups in 2013 and 2014. Ended up having first baby march 31st and the second may 3rd Grin

Enjoy your journey and think about someone setting up a secret Facebook group (if you haven't already). Both of mine have been a great source of support and I've made some great real life friends from it! Anyway good luck

Wineandchoccy · 30/08/2014 10:28

I am so tired but it's only 10.20 and I was in bed for 9.30pm last night.

I'm supposed to be cleaning up but I can not be bothered so I'm mnetting instead still in my pyjamas Grin

I have my booking in appointment on Thursday can't wait as I think it feels more real when you have your notes.

I'm 7w + 2 today, come on time hurry up. I want my 12 week scan, I'm nervous about it after finding out I had a mmc last time but not sure if I want an early scan or not? I feel different than last time so I have to hope and pray that everything will be ok this time.
