Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ive just read that I shouldnt be using my fabulous Clearasil Rapid Action Pads due to the salycylic acid. Im going to have to hunt down something more natural or gentle as otherwise my skin will erupt!

Is anyone else 5weeks with practically no symptoms? I have no sickness, havent had cramping since last week. Other than my boobs feeling a bit heavier I dont really feel any different.

BananaToast · 25/08/2014 12:15

Yes mswibble I'm 5+1 and feeling mostly normal. No sickness but food preferences have changed a little and I feel quite tired. I know things can change pretty quickly though so not feeling too complacent!

Lindalove · 25/08/2014 12:29

Cookiepants87 yes its hard to tell sometimes whether its illness or pregnancy related... as yes our immune systems are lowered when pregnant. I'm 8 weeks and 2 days. I have stuffy nose again today but otherwise feeling not too bad, a little tired. Last night before bed I was shivering uncontrollably, so much so had to have fire on and massive rug over me all night. Then during the night was sweating buckets. Today so far am not feeling too bad, certainly not as bad as last night. All a bit odd. Hoping my body temp didn't go over 38 deg as that's supposed to be bad for the embryo.

mswibble · 25/08/2014 12:58

That reassures me BananaToast! Sounds silly but I actually did a HPT last night just to check.
With everything else in my life I research and organise everything to the nth degree, bit of a control freak, and I think im struggling with the total lack of structure, for want of a better word. All this waiting for my first appt, and then again for the scan ... ooh its hard!

BananaToast · 25/08/2014 13:26

Totally know the feeling, I hate just having to sit and wait to see if everything turns out ok. I've got an early scan on Friday so just counting down to that, then if all is ok I've got a long wait til my booking appointment which isn't til 11 weeks!

BitchPeas · 25/08/2014 13:32

Im 6+ 2 and I'm bad tempered with extreme tiredness then unable to sleep. I'm such a grump. My nausea is low level but continuous and I ache all over. My dreams are crazy as well. I can't stop eating carbs and cheese. I hate feeling like this but then feel guilty for hating it!

Only 9 days til my scan. Hopefully that will make it more real and me less grumpy Smile

Psmith83 · 25/08/2014 14:33

Hey Mswibble,
I'm 5w with virtually no symptoms. Shock And I've gotten really bad acne over the last two weeks. The only thing that's working at the moment is exfoliating every day with lush's Dark Angels and followed by their Herbalism.(I know. Excessive but it's working) I do it in the morning and then use dove at night (with a hot cloth) to take off makeup. It seems to be keeping the grease and zits down to a full roar- it's 100% natural but really cleans out my pores. Had to switch from other stuff as it wasn't working when I got pregnant.

LadyNovember · 25/08/2014 14:49

What's the problem with salicylic acid during pregnancy? I've been using a face wash with a little in for weeks..oops? I'm really struggling with the changes to my skin, I had combination/dry skin before and now it's like i dipped my face in a chip pan. Without makeup I look like a heroin addict..or a 13 year old girl :(

BananaToast · 25/08/2014 15:00

Oh dear I've just checked my face wash and realise it's got salicylic acid in it too. Can anyone recommend a standard face wash that doesn't contain it?

mswibble · 25/08/2014 15:45

Mmm. I may be guilty of scaremongering re the salycylic acid! Sorry! I read a couple of sites, which were American, and immediately panicked but ive now done another search and it seems anything readily sold , ie not on prescription, is actually fine as they dont contain a level that will cause harm. Initially I read that there have been no tests to show how the SA is absorbed into the body, therefore its wise to be cautious. I think my Clearasil pads will be ok. I do like the idea of switching to more natural products though so I might try a sample of the Dark Angels, thanks for the recc Psmith83!

CareBearWithFangs · 25/08/2014 15:47

I've never heard about avoiding saylic acid before. Quite a few of my face washes and toners contain it. Surely as long as your not drinking the stuff or soaking in it for hours it's fine?

littleluna89 · 25/08/2014 16:42

Argh! Really struggling to keep temper under control today, and hubby is pressing all the right buttons to make me want to bludgeon him with DD's slide!!! He dragged me out of bed at 8am this morning after a whole weekend at work without naps, and then acted like he'd been waiting on my hand and foot all morning whilst I laid on the sofa when really he'd left me trapped on the sofa with DD sitting on my back so I couldn't move whilst he played computer games!

Morning Sickness was awful last week, couldn't keep anything down, and am possibly off lemons for life as spent Thursday unable to consume anything but fresh lemonade and bringing up a delightful mixture of bile and lemonade! However drum roll I have discovered Sea Bands, I was sick twice. The. Entire. Weekend!!! Though it did cause even more members of staff at work to catch on to the pregnancy, got a few "oh, I see congratulations are in order" thanks to my captain obvious bands and terribly bloated stomach, luckily I have perfected my "shut the fuck up face" and they were pretty good with 'Facebook timeline' saves so the more oblivious people didn't catch on.

I am however a terrible person, was out with friends last night and was half way through a glass of wine before my best friend had to take it off me and swap it for coke! So glad I told him as I'd have had half the bottle otherwise!

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 16:47

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could put in a healthy snack pack for when I go to work? I've read online that when pregnant, eating 5 small meals a day (healthy snacking it's called) is better than 3 normal meals with no snacking.... I am at a loss as to what to 'pack' for my days at work as each day in getting increasingly hungry and hate the idea of putting on unnecessary weight (am a little overweight) Tasty healthy snack ideas welcome! I did buy walkers sun bites which are only 120 calories a pack for when I have a crisp craving but other ideas are more than welcome Grin Xx

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 16:57

Poor u littleluna89! Glad to hear you have found something to help with the morning sickness though! You are not a terrible person in having half a glass of wine, I know someone who had a glass of wine once a week on a Saturday night throughout her whole pregnancy.... So half a glass or even a whole glass won't hurt Wink bet you are glad your Best Friend knows... I on the other hand have been completely 'off' with my BF and really can't tell her why yet. How far along are you? Sorry if you've already mentioned it... I can't remember much these days lol! XxSmile

mswibble · 25/08/2014 17:10

Littleluna - you are not a terrible person for having half a glass of vino! I had a glass of Prosecco on Friday night, my little celebration! (Whilst OH ploughed through a whole bottle of chardonnay. Git.)
I think I will be treating myself to the odd glass of red or fizz throughout my pregnancy. I love red wine and would have around 2 bottles a week previously so one of those 187ml mini bottles every now and then is perfectly acceptable I think.

littleluna89 · 25/08/2014 18:14

I'm 7 weeks today.

The best friend caught on straight away, I'm the biggest drinker of the lot, so he knew the first time I turned down a glass of wine (rather hilariously about 2 days after he said "I'll know when you're pregnant, you'll turn down wine" whilst refilling a glass)

Last time round I had a small amount of wine every fortnight but I'm trying to avoid it all together this time, unfortunately short of swapping all the wine in the house for nonalcoholic fizz it's going to be difficult, one of my groups of friends all drink the same stuff so tend to grab glass and drink indiscriminately >.

littleluna89 · 25/08/2014 18:15

cookie I'm not great with what constitutes healthy snacks, but I took a bunch of those muller fruit corners to work to have as snacks...

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 18:43

Lol thanks Luna! I do love those yoghurts! Smile Yeah luckily we don't go 'out drinking' much, just to the cinema and dinner and my best friend knows DH and are TTC but haven't told her about the BFP, so luckily she won't notice I'm not drinking.... On the other hand, when I get together with my MIL or my mum we are all quite big drinkers and will be seeing them both very soon..... I think I'll have to spill all lol!! xx

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2014 19:53

I don't drink so one thing I don't have to worry about.

As far as eating healthily goes at the moment I'm eating what makes me feel least sick which is toast, crisps, cereal, porridge, potatoes/chips. I'm mostly ok by dinner time so can eat a dinner. Veg is fine with dinner but haven't eaten fruit for a couple of weeks :(

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 20:54

Cinnamon I'm quite lucky atm as the ms hasn't hit yet... 5+2 so I'm enjoying these days where I can eat pretty much anything but I'm also counting down the days until it arrives! Watch this space lol! X

Psmith83 · 25/08/2014 21:39

Cookie, I'm obsessed with cute snacks ATM. I bought some of those shallow Sistema Tupperware things and I fill each compartment with nuts, olives or carrot sticks. Healthy food is the only thing that's filling me up now- I've been having a DIY smoothie every morning, banana and frozen berries. And I bring a tub of yogurt to work fir the week- sometimes two tablespoons is all I need to coat my stomach. I've just read 'on eating' by Susie Orbach and I'm trying to listen to all my cravings and listen to my hunger. It's changed my life and eating habits! (I also had a pack of cheesy quavers today because I really wanted them!)

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 21:43

Haha thanks! I'll Definitely see if I can grab some cute Tupperware boxes! I'm off to poundland tomorrow son ill have a look to see what I can find.... When you make your smoothie, do you add fruit juice to it to make it slightly Thinner? I used to have smoothies for lunch and may start doing that again as they were so scrummy and did fill me up xx

catsofa · 25/08/2014 21:54

I just spoke to DP. He has had a lovely weekend and is very drunk and dancing around with friends and not making all that much sense over the phone Grin. When he has sobered up tomorrow I think I might call him and tell him I'm ill and can he come and look after me, I can't keep this all to myself much longer!

In other news, has anyone lost an enormous heavy pair of boobs? I think I've got someone else's by mistake, or possibly a couple of bowling balls, or lead weights? I definitely had my own this morning, but sometime in the afternoon I looked down and found I had these massive ones instead!

MrsS010814 · 25/08/2014 22:43

I have been getting cramps since I was about 3 weeks, I'm 5 weeks tomorrow, but earlier on it had a couple of really sharp pains down there not crampy at all, just hurt a lot and now I'm worrying that there's something wrong and that I'm going to lose it. I haven't read any other boards where I might be worried or scared even more, I was wondering if anyone hear had something similar or thinks that it sounds ok?

LadyNovember · 25/08/2014 23:01

I've been having all sorts of weird pains MrsS. Apparently it's all normal unless it's severe and prolonged and/or accompanied by blood.

Don't forget wind and bloating is a classic symptom, wind pains can be really sharp at times.

Hope you're feeling better soon. If you're still worried tomorrow you could call your GP/MW although I'm sure they'll tell you everything's fine xx
