Catsofa you must be dying to tell DP!

I'm also even oilier than usual and the spots have started too. Just went and bought some new concealers to help hide them.

Cowbiscuits, I went to a party recently and drank cups of herbal tea all night (got away with it because I was driving). Why don't more pubs keep on serving hot drinks after they've stopped serving food?!

Lady I'm sure you'll be alright to still do the ice bucket thing if you want to, just have a towel and some nice warm clothes handy!

Congrats Psmith! Sounds like you've had a really tough year, sending you lots of sticky bean wishes.

Well done Linda and Catren. It feels a bit like undertaking a secret mission being pregnant sometimes. I'm already planning on how to hide it during a works night out I've got coming up. We tend to always buy in rounds so it's going to be really difficult!

Oneday stop POAS! I think I might get rid of the ones I have left to stop the temptation to use them all the time.

I'm struggling with smells today. Sorting out the laundry and washing DP's football stuff, I nearly puked into the washing basket!

catsofa · 24/08/2014 17:03

I want to phone him and say hi, how you doing, having a good time etc but although I want to hear his voice I think it'll be torture not to just blurt it out over the phone, and I so want to be with him when I give him the news!

CareBearWithFangs Obviously you shouldn't be doing laundry in your condition, can you make DP do it all Wink? I intend to fully milk this and claim that I'm far too tired to do any housework at all that I think I can get out of.

Cookiepants87 · 24/08/2014 17:32

Awww catsofa i don't blame you!!! I would be exactly the same!! I took a pic of my pregnancy test on Wednesday and can't stop looking at it and smiling! Still can't believe it, I bet your DP will be over the moon when you tell him!!! When will you see him next??? XxxxGrin

tryinghard2 · 24/08/2014 18:31

We haven't told anyone either...but I think a lot of people have guessed and are just being polite. I think a lot of people are sort of expecting it.

My tummy is huge! I have a skinny friend who is I think 18 weeks pregnant and my tummy is bigger than hers! Hmm

catsofa · 24/08/2014 19:06

I took a picture of all 5 of my pregnancy tests next to each other so I could look at it at work Blush

I have to work Tue - Friday and then all the following week, so I need to make him come visit me as soon as his event thing is finished, without telling him why. Not sure how tricky this will be, wondering if I need a back up plan if he starts saying that the following week would be easier. I was going to go to his the weekend of 5th September because I would be ovulating around then, but now there's no way I can wait that long to see him!

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2014 19:24

Congratulations Psmith83!

I've lost a bit of weight Catsofa, just because I don't want sweet things so my evening nibbling has stopped but I feel I'm eating more proper food if that makes sense! You're very good keeping it from dp until you see him.

Those who are tired and thirsty that was me a couple of weeks ago but it seems to have passed. I'm tired by bedtime by not feeling the need to sleep at 3pm! Also now the opposite of being thirsty all the time, I'm struggling to drink at all, the thought of it makes me feel nauseas. Dh told me I look like a dried up dehydrated prune, nice!!

We had a bit if a falling out today, we're on holiday and went out for the day but didn't have enough bread in the cottage to make a picnic so I said we'd have to get something out. We couldn't park where we'd planned to go he didn't try very hard so he drove on to a very secluded beach which was lovely but no way of getting any food. He knows to keep my nausea/dry heaving under control I need to eat before I get too hungry and the kids get whingy if they haven't eaten so we had a bit of a row. I got out of the car and said don't worry I'll suffer!!! He got fed up of the whiney kids so we went back to original place and couldn't get parked, cue huge meltdown from him just driving around but drive past chip shop and petrol station. I started crying and said I felt awful and just wanted to eat and couldn't we stop at that chip shop, he apologised and we got chips (best chips I've ever tasted!!!) then went back to secluded beach and had a fab afternoon. Bloody man never thinks about food as he rarely gets hungry so it's an ongoing issue!

sazzle82G · 24/08/2014 19:45

Hi! can I join in? I don't really understand all the little acronyms but I'm pregnant with baby number 1. Very happy about it but I'm worrying all the time. Shouldn't read the miscarriage threads! Actually feeling glad to be feeling sick as it reassures me that things are still happening down there. Had a few nasty cramps and a bit of bleeding last night which scared me but the doc said that was to be expected.

I'm also finding it hard to decide about telling people. Told my mam and my best mate straight away. Always wondered why people waited till 12 weeks but now I get it. You just need to be sure and I don't think I will be till I see that first scan. Trouble is I was supposed to be doing the great north run in a couple of weeks. Obviously dropping out (shame Wink) Going to try to get away with telling only close work mates and then tell everyone else I was ill on the day.

Anyway it's nice to have this place to chat. Glad to see I'm not the only one worrying. Smile

BonjourMinou · 24/08/2014 20:41

Hi Ladies! And welcome and congratulations to the new joiners.

I haven't told anyone apart from DH either, like everyone else I won't be happy until I've had that scan.

Not masses of symptoms for me just yet (I'm 5+6 today), just really tired all the time. DH also knows to keep me fed regularly, as the other night I was getting a bit nauseous and light headed until I had dinner!

No sore boobs for me, but I think that's because you get those when your boobs are getting ready to produce milk and I'm still breastfeeding DC1.

On that note... I have a question I don't know if anyone will be able to answer for me?

When I was discussing contraception with the midwife after DD's birth, she told me not to take the pill as it tricks your body into thinking you're pregnant which stops you being able to breastfeed... but I've read other threads on here where people have breastfed during their pregnancies and still others where people have weaned their babies off milk because they were pregnant. So my question is... is there a cut off point when you are no longer able to breastfeed? When is it? Not til the end when you start making colostrum? I need to start making plans for DD and need to now how much time I have, she's still a total milk monster at the moment...

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2014 20:45

I have two friends who tandem fed their dc (both 18months apart) so didn't stop during pregnancy at all. I believe your body sorts it out so both get what they need but I've never done at as mine were too far apart for me to be bf both. kellymom is usually good for info or perhaps the feeding forums here?

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2014 20:47

And congratulations sazzle82G! Definitely don't read the miscarriage threads and try not to worry. I had spotting with ds2 for quite a while and have had cramps with this one on and off so it's relatively common I think.

mswibble · 24/08/2014 20:54

There is a deal on the Manchester Groupon at the mo. A 3D/4D baby scan plus photos and cd for £49. I've just bought one, got it for £39 for some reason, must have had a discount voucher applied to my account.
The clinic is based in the city centre, near King St if I remember correctly so no traipsing over to some random area.

I dont think id use it so early on as it would probably be a waste, maybe save it for a later stage.

BonjourMinou · 24/08/2014 21:05

Thanks, cinnamon. I'm going to have to do something about it at some stage because I'm going to have an elective section so will be in hospital away from DD for a couple of nights, but it's good to know I've got a fair amount of time to sort it out.

sazzle82G · 24/08/2014 21:18

Thanks cinnamon
Who knew there were so many different sensations so soon. Expected sickness but not the spotting and cramping, being off certain foods (not like me at all!) and being thirsty all the time! Oh and this horrible taste in my mouth. Not had sore boobs yet but reckon mine are big enough so maybe don't have to grow as much as some people! Hope they don't get too much bigger anyway. I'll be huge!

chiliplant · 24/08/2014 21:38

Dancetomyowntune , how many weeks are you? I have the same edd date so I was just wondering. I never quite believe it we hen I work it out?!x

Gibbon85 · 25/08/2014 08:18

Welcome sazzle82g! I'm 6wks + 2days with first baby- although we were trying I didn't do much research til I got my bfp- didn't want to jinx anything- and now it's a whole new bewildering world! On the mumsnet side there's a handy list of acronyms here: www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

Also didn't know about taking folic acid so only started just before 5 weeks which adds to my paranoid worrying!

DH and I haven't told anyone- think sis has guessed and although mum is desperate for grand kids I couldn't bare to tell her if it didn't work so she'll have to wait! Getting a bit of cramping but no sore boobs and no nausea. Guess that's good?! Can anyone explain why we get cramps? Feel like knowing the reason might put my mind at rest!

BonjourMinou · 25/08/2014 08:22

I think it's something to do with your uterus stretching to accommodate the baby. Will have to look it up again, I've forgotten!

Lindalove · 25/08/2014 08:51

Hi - I think I have a cold... I've been really shivery though and last night had awful night sweats. Not sure if it's cold or pregnancy/ hormonal related though? Anyone else had night sweats?
I've got a stuffy nose this morning so assume it's a cold...

dancestomyowntune · 25/08/2014 09:07

chilliplant i'm not actually sure!!! i worked it out by using the date i had my mirena removed as lmp but the hospital feel i may be wrong Sad when i went for a scan at what we estimated to be 6 weeks they couldn't see a heartbeat so i have another scan tomorrow when they should give me a better idea of accurate dates. i think they will put my due date back by about a week Sad but i still think i'm about7-8 weeks now. guess we'll find out tomorrow! Grin

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 09:49

Hi Linda! I've been having hot and cold sweats too and have had quite a stuffy nose for the past few days? Thought it might be my immune system on a low as it's trying extra hard to care for the little sesame seed growing inside me? I don't know if that's entirely true but it's how I feel lol xxx I'm 5+2 today Grin what about you? Xx

Stuntman · 25/08/2014 10:04

Is anyone else in a bad temper? I just shouted at my toddler when he spat his medicine out, and then I shouted at the cat! I don't know what's come over me it's like the worst PMT ever.

prevlurker123 · 25/08/2014 10:19

Ah so nausea has appeared. Which im dealing with for now. But also have a really sore head....I havent taken anything for it as I remember reading not to. Any tips for getting rid of it?!

Cookiepants87 · 25/08/2014 10:33

Stuntman I was in an awful mood yesterday! Poor DH lol! Today in not so bad, just hungry but have an upset stomach Hmm not sure if pregnancy related or a bug that's going around! X

Definitely drink more prevlurker123, although I find it hard when feeling nauseous!

I have been moody stuntman, but it seems to have passed now.

Lots of changes are happening I your uterus Gibbon85, cramps are stretching and movements.

ChickenMe · 25/08/2014 11:45

I'm bad tempered at night too. I'll be knackered but unable to drop off. So grateful for today off work as vomiting has started. The poor cat was watching me from behind the door and looked terrified at my loud retching. She's now skulked off, tail between legs..
