I keep veering between snuzpod and baby hammock... Think I need to get the tape measure out and see what will fit best in our bedroom, but am keeping track of offers and discounts and also hoping there may be opportunities to look at them both at the baby show in a few weeks.

KateTheHuman · 01/10/2014 06:11

Morning all. I ordered the Bednest (renting) the other day. Due to arrive on 18th December. So excited!

I would love the snuzpod, mil offered to buy it for us but it just won't fit Sad. So we are going for a bog standard crib instead.

sleepisforthetired · 01/10/2014 08:28

Went with a cheapy crib - very basic but fits in the bedroom. I loved the look of the bed nest but couldn't justify the cost for 6 months as there are no plans to have more after this one.

natharley11 · 01/10/2014 13:34

I used ds swinging crib from mothercare was fab with no 1 just replaced the mattress
got a moses basket my mum bought for living room too not entirely sure why when we live in a flat is lovely tho xx

natharley11 · 01/10/2014 20:39

sleepisforthetired · 02/10/2014 12:27

what!?! like just fall or was it loose before?

At least most dental treatment is free...

natharley11 · 02/10/2014 12:50

it was a bit loose before but just fell out I was quite happily eating my Chinese till that point
and my dp just laughed !!

EmmaJan2015 · 02/10/2014 14:21

That's rubbish about the tooth. No tooth issues for me but I keep going ever so slightly deaf and my ears keep popping. Usually if i've been racing around for a few hours.

I've just been out to buy a birthday present for my friends 2 year old daughter and ended up buying loads of clothes for ours. Shames there's no wardrobe yet to store it all in!

sunshineandbiscuits · 02/10/2014 14:31

Is anyone else finding that exercise has got a lot harder in the last week or two? I'm really starting to have to drag myself round my run at the moment. Bump is getting larger, so maybe she's having a growth spurt? I may even have to bow to the inevitable and get some maternity clothes this weekend. Any tips for places to get some?

Sorry to hear about your tooth, natharley, hope that gets sorted soon.

26+1

EmmaJan2015 · 02/10/2014 14:55

sunshineandbiscuits how have you been managing without maternity clothes this far?! I understand tops are easier but I haven't been able to do regular trousers and jeans up for weeks and weeks now!

I spent approx 100 in H&M on 1 jeans, 2 trousers, 1 denim skirt, tights, lounge pants/which double as PJ's, and about 3 tops. Plus a few basic long sleeved tops from Gap. I also have a few of the ruched tops from Isabella Oliver...a little more expensive but definitely worth it, I love them and they're very flattering. One note about Isabella Oliver sizing though...I took my friends advice and sized down slightly. I'm a 10-12 usually and their size 1 tops fit me and my bump perfectly. I've been mixing those with bits and pieces from my pre-pregnancy wardrobe (loads of things from Hush like their long length vest tops, jumper dresses and henley dresses), various cardigans etc.

Personally i'd mix and match between cheaper everyday basics and a few better quality things which have definitely been way more flattering in my experience (Isabella Oliver, Seraphine etc)

Verbaudet do some good tops and dresses which are specifically designed for before and after, i.e they have openings/access for breastfeeding if you're planning to do that.

cheshirem2b · 02/10/2014 16:02

Sunshine how are you still running?!?! Eek!!!

I've been in Mat jeans and trousers since about 16 weeks (if not earlier) so well done!

I'd love to get Isabella Oliver stuff but cannot justify the cost! Got a couple of new tops in the mothercare sale recently so keep an eye out for the discount codes and sales.

SK28 · 02/10/2014 18:18

Sunshine - I love my H&M mat jeans (like the others, haven't been able to get into trousers, jeans or skirts since about 13 weeks!). I have some lovely mat dresses from Asos and Dorothy Perkins that I get complimented on every time I wear them, too. I'm mostly a dress person but with the jeans I'm wearing basic tops that are v cheap from George or New Look, and I got some looser blouse type tops from Primark that aren't maternity but will fit over bump for a while yet.

I can't afford to buy the more expensive things, though I love Seraphine stuff, but I have found Asos especially good for choice and I got most of it in the sale so could go for more expensive brands than if it was full price.

SK28 · 02/10/2014 18:19

Oh and I have a couple of bits from Mamalicious, which are okay and again were reduced but I think it is overpriced for the quality generally.

sunshineandbiscuits · 02/10/2014 21:19

Emma - I've been using a BellyBelt to extend my trousers, which has been hidden underneath whatever top I'm wearing. It's worked a treat so far, but no more... My bump is on the small side as I'm quite tall plus this is my first baby.

Thanks everyone for all the super helpful mat clothes shopping tips!!

natharley11 · 03/10/2014 07:45

I posted on the fb page but I went to JojoMaman today and got myself a jumper style top and cardigan. Both stripes which I don't usually do due to my size but they are lovely. I do need some new trousers though - smart casual style but not sure what to go for...

natharley11 · 03/10/2014 17:28

RPopz · 03/10/2014 18:01

I'm living in my H&M mat jeans at the mo.... they are very skinny in the leg though!! I'd def get a size up if I get some more. They've got some nice mat jumpers in atm too Smile

RPopz · 03/10/2014 18:05

Crap about the tooth Natharley!! Shock My worst nightmare that. I haven't been to dentist in about ten years. Did you have bad ms? Could well be linked to that, stomach acid isn't great for teeths. Poor you xx

Anyone else started getting rib pain? Feel like this child is permanently jammed under my rib cage on left hand side.... yeowch. Sitting is now just as uncomfy as standing - bummer!

natharley11 · 03/10/2014 19:09

yea I have had hyperemisis . so that probably the reason. no pain so hoping can avoid the dentist.

me too with the rib pain but baby seems to lie under my ribs so think it's where he kicking xx

Pesto11 · 04/10/2014 21:34

My baby lives in my ribs!
Especially after I have dinner.
Getting quite/very painful as they days go by...
27 weeks today!

ilovelamp78 · 04/10/2014 22:38

26+5 and I'm finding it a bit uncomfortable around the ribs too especially this past week- baby has had a growth spurt. Ooh but do you know what is nice- swimming! Makes you feel like you weigh nothing, until you get out of the pool and suddenly you have iron girders for legs!!
