Haha Rpopz do you have a dog called Facehugger?

sleepisforthetired · 18/09/2014 13:36

Kate I thought of Alien as well with the name - lol at dog called face hugger Grin

I love Theo - but friend has a Theodore so never made it onto the list (nn Teddy).

I need girls names - whether DP agrees or not, I have boys names sorted and he gets to do the surname as we are not married, so I call this a compromise, but my choice of girls names are ridiculous

Its my nieces fault - my top choice is far to similar to her name to allow me to use it now should this be a girl (grrr) - mine was so much nicer than SIL version!!

RPopz · 18/09/2014 13:43

Haha not quite puppy facehugger Shock

I love Theo too Sleep! Was literally just talking about that on fb x

SK28 · 18/09/2014 13:59

Ready, if you've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the running joke that they believe everything originated from Greek or Greece is absolutely true of my in-laws! It means that there are numerous names that they claim as of Greek origin (especially girls, where many are also equally claimed as Latin origin too) so it's not unlikely that lots of baby name lists actually fulfil the 'Greek origin' criteria!

KateTheHuman · 18/09/2014 14:53

Haha i think facehugger would be a cute name for a puppy :)

My name is Greek too!

Ikkleme · 18/09/2014 21:46

ilovelamp78 · 18/09/2014 21:46

I don't think I've had any hair loss yet Ikkleme. I finally got around to plucking my eyebrows a couple of days ago though. I found a really long white/transparent hair. It was bizarre! Probably an age thing rather than a pregnancy thing. It's been hiding!

blizy · 19/09/2014 09:31

Hair loss? I'm getting hairyer by the day, my tummy resembles that of a gorilla, I have random long black hairs growing on my face, neck and arms! I'd have to shave legs/underarms twice a day to keep up with growth.
(although I'm lucky if I do it twice a week!)

sleepisforthetired · 19/09/2014 14:26

I was querying the hair loss thing with my mum as last time had thick hair (everywhere) and this time I noticed I seem to be getting more hair in the hair brush than normal.

Bearing in mind I only notified part time role last Friday, I was late to a training course I was delivering today (10 minutes after designated start) which I accept is crap on my part - however got a voicemail at 1 hour after start (been there 50 minutes odd) saying "Hi, just wondering as XX called earlier and wondered if you had started maternity leave already..."

  1. I fucking wish - I am so tired from not sleeping properly, the thought of spending next 3 months resting till the baby comes is like a slice of heaven's pie
  2. I had been there 50 minutes and over, if you only just got the message why not check with the centre if I had arrived. I could have been in a ditch somewhere
  3. Arsehole
  4. This is exactly why you were not told until legally I needed to (well, a few days I assume I am thinking about this too hard, when they didn't think about this enough, and meant no harm - but the message really bothered me Angry
cheshirem2b · 19/09/2014 16:12

Sleep It's no wonder you are angry with them! You'd think they had clicked you were there after 50mins!

OH has many jobs... one is a lay clerk (singer) at our Cathedral. He works weekends and if they miss a service they have to pay someone to cover their singing for the day. Fair enough.
OH asked for a Saturday off to come to antenatal classes with me. Cathedral said that's fine but they also want him to take the Sunday off and for him to pay the deputy in his place his fee for the Sunday and Saturday for "continuity"
DH has been loyal to them for over 10 years. He's gone over and above what is expected of him - done photography for them, publicity etc etc with no thanks.
I have done research and as of 1/10/14 employers have to allow him to take 6.5hrs off work up to twice for antenatal appointments as unpaid leave. This will mean he can take the Saturday off and the cathedral will have to pay the deputy and they cannot make him pay for a deputy on the Sunday as well! I sent DH the link and told him to email his boss!

Here is the link if anyone needs it! Grin

RPopz · 19/09/2014 18:15

Oooh that is interesting thanks Cheshire ... DH always has to schedule his day off for our apps, or start/ finish early.

Ha Sleep - I'd be bloody fuming!! What a knob.

Kate I keep getting that fine to bursting for a wee in 10 seconds feeling too!! Hope your vajayjay is feeling better Smile

KateTheHuman · 19/09/2014 20:19

Haha it's feeling a lot better down there thank you Rpopz! Grin

cheshirem2b · 20/09/2014 10:21

Any exciting weekend plans?

We're at a friends housewarming party this afternoon and DH had invited our neighbours over for a drink this evening... so a whole day of being surrounded by people drinking!

Thursday night was the most active I've seen baby so far. Was like watching an alien in my tummy wriggling and turning! Always most active at night which at least means I get to lie and watch!

SK28 · 21/09/2014 01:17

Cheshire I haven't yet had the alien type movements, but this morning in yoga class during the last 10 minutes where it's all about relaxation, baby was doing trampolining inside - it was lovely to feel and very bonding but I was really holding in giggles trying not to disturb everyone else!

Busy weekend here - today spent with in-laws and tomorrow back home to celebrate my 'baby' brother's 15th birthday Smile

Loobyloo893 · 21/09/2014 05:40

Last night for the first time in four months I was able to eat beef without being sick! Woohoo. Although did get horrible heartburn after.

DS has been up every few hours. No crying just waking up , having a little chat with himself and going back to sleep. So sleepy now Hmm

No exciting plans for us really. Just planning in taking DS swimming and to the park today.

Hi everyone room for 1 more? Dd 20th jan with dc2

cheshirem2b · 21/09/2014 19:51

hi Rachie!
Welcome to the Jan Bus!

KateTheHuman · 22/09/2014 07:39

Welcome Rachie! Glad to have you with us! :)

I'm not a happy bunny today. No sleep + hormones = sad kate. I'm so tired!!! Plus I'm so unhappy we're nowhere near ready with the nursery, never mind the bedroom and the rest of upstairs. I feel so behind everyone. Until we sort the upstairs out we have nowhere to put any baby things so we haven't bought any baby things. Just a bit depressing seeing everyone's gorgeous purchases. OH is working evenings this week so I'm gonna try and start sorting stuff out. I think I'll get more done if he's not there. It'd also be nice to sleep but hey can't have everything right. Envy

Right. That's the self pity post done. I hate Mondays. Hope everyone else is a bit cheerier!

sunshineandbiscuits · 22/09/2014 08:13

Don't worry, Kate, you're not behind at all - we have done absolutely nothing. No nursery, no purchases, not even maternity clothes! You'll definitely be more prepared than us Smile

sunshineandbiscuits · 22/09/2014 08:16

And welcome Rachie!

KateTheHuman · 22/09/2014 08:17

Aww sunshine I'm not alone! Yay! Grin

cheshirem2b · 22/09/2014 08:18

Kate you will get there with nursery etc. I think some of us (me included) are a bit ocd about preparing things like the nursery so have done them super early.

I'm at the midwife this morning for my 25wk appointment. not sure what, if anything, will be done today. Will wait and see!

hope everyone has a good Monday!

Don't worry Kate - our nursery was full of junk 2 weeks ago. DH ended up boxing up his stuff rather than sorting it properly just so he could get started. Should be able to put the cot up in the next 2 weeks, though need to buy new furniture for DS before we can put the rest of the baby furniture in (all our baby furniture was 2nd hand from BIL and SIL).

Could you start a corner of your lounge/bedroom as baby stash, maybe with a box to fill (to start with!) so you can start buying little bits and pieces that you like?

I am heading out this afternoon to buy some presents for a friend who had a ds a few weeks ago and some bits for the newborn box I'm putting together for Dsis and DBIL when their first born arrives in March. My DBIL AND DSIL gave us a lovely plastic storage box with a picture of Miffy on it filled with lots of sweet and useful bits. We were allowed to open one thing per day Smile

So far I've got some toiletries as Zwitsal was on offer in the supermarket yesterday. Prenatal (like Dutch mothercare) has a sale on this week so hoping to get some cute outfits and socks and bits.

She's not due till March so will give to my parents when they come over in Dec/Jan.

And may get some bits for us Grin and bras. In desperate need of bras.
