Today I have dressed up as if I'm not on holiday - ie, I'm actually wearing a maternity dress instead of 'stuff that will stretch around me' and I feel SO MUCH better. Just less frumpy and manky. After a week of decorating and wearing paint splattered stuff, it feels lovely.

I'm going shopping to buy everything for the baby today (apart from the carrier, which I've got off Amazon), I'm going to treat myself to lunch and coffees and generally a nice day out. Then I'm going to get myself taken out for dinner and cocktails with boyfriend, whether he likes it or not. Ha. Spend spend SPEND...

hefner · 01/08/2014 10:23

That sounds lovely goats, hope you have a nice day. I'm just at home with dd today but I'm feeling relaxed and happy as I've managed to sort out the latest house renovation disasters. I'm about to take dd for a haircut and then my parents are visiting later.

binkybunny · 01/08/2014 10:37

Pleased to hear about the thin pads working as well as the thick ones. I have bought a pack of the thick ones so far and was actually scared at how big they were but I wasn't sure if the thins ones were any good. My friend gave me a pack on Tena Ladies she had left after her birth. I wasn't sure if she meant they were for the bleeding or lack of bladder control.

Goats your day sounds lovely, very jealous while I'm sat at my desk trying to drag myself through another day, only 17 working days left Grin

mum2kiss · 01/08/2014 11:19

17 working days for me too binky! Plus this is my last 5 day working week before I go on mat leave! It was a real struggle to get out of bed this morning...

Dd comes home tomorrow...this usually means a few hours of sweetness and light followed by a full on satanic meltdown! The week in the summer spent with her father is definitely bitter sweet!

I picked up some cute little unisex socks and bibs in primark yesterday. The newborn socks are tiny but I bet they are still too big for baby when it arrives! Super cheap though which is good as I don't see the point in spending a fortune on material primarily used to mop up puke!

STIGZ · 01/08/2014 11:57

Cant beleive the discussion has moved to pads for after birth... Its spooky as thats what i woke up thinking about this morning!! The ones the hospital give you are horrendous!! I had quite a few embarrising spillages, so deffo want half decent ones to take in with me! Also thinking of investing in
A couple of pairs of dark pj bottoms & possibly a dark dressing gown??

My dp is away fishing until sunday & dd is off to her grans tonight so i think i might treat myself to a glass of processco, paint my nails & read a book! .,, i work term time so my summer holidays have consisted moving house, housework, shopping, dog walking & entertaining dd & dealing with her major meltdowns all summer whilst suffering with spd, i have done sweet FA for myself and back to work in 2 weeks, me & dp have hardly looked at each other the whole summer as there has been so much work/organising needing done to house, so im afraid if i have one glass of my beloved processco i might want to polish of the bottle instead of my nails !!!

Pregnantagain7 · 01/08/2014 13:53

Hmmph got the hump today! Was supposed to be going to look at a new car for me tomorrow and the man just called to say he's just sold it, did he not bloody know I wanted it, how rude Grin
Carpets being cleaned tomorrow morning, furniture being delivered on Tuesday omg actually feel like I'm doing some baby related stuff! Dp said we could go and get the buggy this weekend but feel like I need to concentrate on one thing at a time my baby brain just can't cope :)

binkybunny · 01/08/2014 14:51

Yay mum2 next week is my last 5 day working week, then it's a 4, 3, 2 and maybe a 3 but I'm working on trying to get that down to a 2 day Wink

Enjoy Stigz mmm prosecco Wine It's definitely bad having a large bottle of wine in the house, just too much temptation! Maybe buy a small bottle so there's not quite as much if you do get tempted to finish it!

ohthegoats · 01/08/2014 16:28

Right, that's pretty much everything other than arnica tablets for me. All the disposables for the first week or so done too, including some post birth type 'stuff' - lavender oil, witch hazel etc. A big spending day!! Quite fun though, even if I had to go back and forth to the car twice because it was too much to carry. Am going to make some sheets for moses basket and Sleepyhead, because there is no way I'm paying those prices when I can cut up and sew together stuff I've already got.

I've assumed newborn size, even though I think 8lbs will be quite big for me (I was 6lbs, nephews have all been 6lbs, my boyfriend is - and was - bigger, but I'm pretty small in terms of height and frame... but who knows), so made a list of emergency tiny baby clothes that he'll have to run round to Mothercare for if all this stuff hangs off the kid.

I've also separated some stuff out into hospital bag type stuff, obviously not packed a bag properly, but just a carrier bag with labour and afterwards stuff for me in it, another with stuff for the baby in it. Just in case I have to do any dashing off from work or something (which of course won't happen).

I think I got myself into a bit of a panic because the house is such a state, and isn't going to get any better - I just wanted to know it was all sorted into one big bag under the bed - I can relax now. Well, what I mean is 'I can decorate the house now', but it's the same thing really.

YellowWellies · 01/08/2014 16:58

Goats awesome skills!

I have to say I much preferred the thick pads after birth. They are so soft and thick they really cushioned sore nethers when you sit down.

ExcitedCJ · 01/08/2014 17:00

Goats I had a similar day. I've been massaged & highlighted & managed to squeeze in a trip to Boots to get lavender & tea tree oil, pads etc. Also finished last baby stuff wash & put it all in a drawer. Phoned Bednest people too & looked into hire, so all that is left for me is to get some giant knickers & I'm ready to have another baby! Very excited, I've even scheduled the day I will deep clean the house, so the wee blighter can come from 29th Sept onwards! :)

ohthegoats · 01/08/2014 17:29

Well done CJ, as Yellow says - SKILLS - I feel so much more betterer (yes, that's perfectly acceptable English), just knowing it's all here just in case.

I've had to order the Boba 4G - VERY excited about that bit, it's the only 'big' thing I've really bought new, so could actually choose the colour and stuff. Hopefully be here Monday. Yay.

Currently it's all piled on the dining room table, boyfriend is going to keel over when he sees it. But he does actually need to engage with it all, just so he knows what it's all for!

mum2kiss · 01/08/2014 17:31

Wow you gals are super organised! I need to get out all the bits I have so far and them make a list of everything that's missing!

Watching this documentary about the US and the fact that in some states it's considered the norm buy your 4 yr old a rifle for their birthday! How any human can not see the danger of a child walking around with a loaded gun is beyond me!

Kirstipops · 01/08/2014 18:12

My electric aromatherapy burner arrived today, I have some lavender oil for it - any other nice oils worth a shot?
Well done to you super-organised ladies! That's me finished up work for a fortnight so I'll be trying to catch up in that time!
The Bona 4G is the one I like too Goats, in particular the Tweet print one!

YellowWellies · 01/08/2014 18:23

Kirsti any oil that makes you feel loved up and gets the oxytocin going - ylang ylang? jasmine? But don't go mad just in case you find that the smell of oils makes you sick in labour. I just had a wee bottle of lavender I sniffed, I couldn't handle any others. I can't stomach the smell now - it takes me right back!!!

Goats what colour of Boba did you get? I have the dusk one. Kirsti I liked the tweet one too but reckoned it wouldn't go with many of my clothes.
As for essential oils - jasmine & rose blended is known as the love blend. Ylang ylang & Patchouli is a sensuality blend. One of my personal favs for balancing is chamomile & Cedarwood. Oh now I want a new oil burner. I had an electric cartridge one but it's gone missing. Where did you get yours Kirsti?

YellowWellies · 01/08/2014 22:39

Hospital bag list done. Picking up a few bits from Boots tomorrow. Then I'm going to pack it tomorrow night. And paint our bedroom. Must get that done! Am 28 weeks and have suspected gestational diabetes according to the results of my bloods so best be prepared in case I get another impatient baby! GTT on Thursday.

ohthegoats · 01/08/2014 22:44

The peak one. I didn't see tweet, like that too. Was going to go with glacier since it's nice and simple for boyf to wear, but peak could be manly too! He's the one who has talked quite a lot about baby carrying and liking the cuddles, so if we're together, he'll be doing the carrying.

I also sorted out the city jogger tonight - took the pushchair bit off so I can use the bassinet and the car seat on the wheels more easily. They're cleverly designed things these buggies. Stores flatter in bits too. Feeling really comfortable and organised now - although I ache loads. Have been busy, but not that busy. Had half a glass of prosecco and giggled for half an hour about how I'm a physical disgrace.

Kirstipops · 01/08/2014 23:24

Thanks for the oil combo recommendations CJ, the chamomile and cedarwood sounds looovely. I got this burner, which won't win any style awards but seems to do the job!

Tomorrow I'm doing a huge tidy-up while DH is out of the house for the day, might make a hospital bag list too, 32 weeks tomorrow so I'd like to know what else I need to pick up!

fedupofrainydays · 02/08/2014 01:21

So I wore the sequin silver dress. And looked like a cross between a Christmas decoration and a disco glitter ball!! Back at the hotel now and all the others down I the bar drinking and I've sloped off to bed. My pregnancy pillow is in the car. Dang!

Right hoping to sleep now and hope my drunk Husband doesn't want me up in a bit. Knowing him he will fall asleep in the bar downstairs!!

ExcitedCJ · 02/08/2014 05:41

Woke up with leg cramp at 5am only calming down now. Fedup I am sure you looked like a very cute disco ball! Did your DH get back to room safely? He sounds a bit like mine, has skills to fall asleep in any given location after drink had been taken!

ExcitedCJ · 02/08/2014 06:22

Kirsti good deal, have seen same one on a few other sites for £25 ish. Thanks.

mrsb87 · 02/08/2014 08:42

Nothing wrong with looking like a groovy disco ball fedup! I bet you liked stunning Smile

I too am braving hospital bag stuff today, I will be 32wks on Monday! Our bathroom is being started today and I can't wait to wallowing a lovely bath!!
