binky - that's quite a good way of thinking about it. My friend who does Iron Man thingies, said that watching his wife do the childbirth thing was like watching her do an Iron Man.

SJH0604 · 14/08/2014 11:43

Hi all, just wanted to join the group if that's okay? I gave my stats way back in February I think, but not been back! I've read through this latest thread and it's so good to hear about other people's experiences and reassuring we're all in the same boat/same stage! I don't have any friends who are pregnant so it'd be great to chat with fellow October expectant mums!

Went to Mothercare yesterday to finally start getting some things together and they were great. The lady who served me checked online to price match everything! A friend recommended Tommee Tippee's Perfect Prep, which is the baby's equivalent of a coffee machine. Add formula and it'll be ready at the right temp in two minutes. I do plan to give BF a go but want my husband involved with feeding too at some point, so covering all areas! Anyway, it was £99.99 in Mothercare and £66 on Amazon, which they price matched! I bet lots of people think it's a ridiculous thing to buy, but when I watched the video online that promotes it, I was sold! (Naive?!)

mum2kiss · 14/08/2014 13:02

Welcome back sj :)

I've heard those milk prep machines are pretty awesome vs boiling a kettle and then waiting for a bottle to cool with a screaming babe in arms at 4am!

I'm feeling better today thank goodness. The braxtons hicks were suffocating me yesterday!

mum2kiss · 14/08/2014 13:05

Oh forgot to add I got the box of baby stuff out today. I've pretty much been picking up bits here and there and throwing them into a tub! I've made a list and crossed off what I already have. The only big ticket items I really need are the car seat and an electric breast pump. Other bits are just mainly hospital bag items and toiletries so we're almost there.

Pregnantagain7 · 14/08/2014 13:25

me hope you are feeling better today thinking of you and hoping things settle down soon.

So I had my 31 week apt today didn't go that well I have protein in my urine and am measuring 37cms feel a bit teary and gutted probably just hormonal. Midwife was amazing she is trying to move my growth scan forward from the 1st of sep to the beginning of next week. Blood pressure is fine so hoping the protein is down to a water infection or thrush but don't have symptoms of either. Just left me feeling a bit shit really :(

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 14/08/2014 13:36

SJH, I saw that the other day, it looks brilliant! One of the most stressful things is waiting for the damn bottle to cool down so definitely worth getting!

Pregnant, fingers crossed the protein isn't anything to worry about. Try not to worry about your measurements, they are famously inaccurate for determining size anyway!

STIGZ · 14/08/2014 14:27

sjh i have perfect prep machine! My brother bought it for me, a couple of people i know have personally recommended it :)

SJH0604 · 14/08/2014 15:06

Ha I'm glad other people have got it! We're going to need to make quite a bit of space in the kitchen for it and the sterilising equipment! But it'll be worth it :)

Can anyone recommend a decent, but not too expensive, Moses basket?

Pregnant I had my 31 week appt yesterday and the midwife also found protein in my urine, so they're going to send it off. I'm not too worried as my BP was fine and I don't have swollen joints (just a fat face - but had this for a long time!). Hopefully our results will come back fine!

I was annoyed however, that they asked if I'd been taking iron tablets since the last appointment and I said said no, why? The midwife said I should have had a call from the doctors' surgery to pick up a prescription after my last appointment when I had a blood test! Grrrrrrrrr!

STIGZ · 14/08/2014 15:28

pregnant is 37 cm measuring to big ? .,, hope you are ok? Its easier said than done but try not worry? Hopefully u get growth scan a bit earlier & put your mind at ease ?

Shirehobbit · 14/08/2014 15:38

That sounds stressful pregnantagain but the tape measure method is a bit unreliable. Hopefully the scan can be moved and put your mind at rest.

Me23 · 14/08/2014 18:13

I'm at home finally had 30 mins sleep last night so knakered having a nice warm bath then Chinese then bed! Most of my bloods were clear so drs think it is viral infection but still waiting for swabs to come back. Glad to be home. Thank you all for your good wishes they were much appreciated. I will try to catch up properly tomorrow too tired to concertante right now.

CareBearWithFangs · 14/08/2014 18:22

Hi, not sure if any of you will remember me from all the way in April but just wanted to pop in and say hi.

I've had this thread hidden for the past few months but I just got another BFP Smile

Hope your all doing well and not feeling too uncomfortable.

I remember you carebear congratulations! Although I feel bad that you've dropped in here at the time when most are a starting feel fat and fed up!

CareBearWithFangs · 14/08/2014 18:43

Thank you Smile

There's a girl at work who's due in October and she's huge already and looking very miserable. Every time I see her I tell her she looks beautiful because she really does. I'm sure you all do too. (So cheesy). Makes me think of all or you when I see her.

I wish you all, all the best and wonderful births and happy peaceful babies who like to sleep.

fedupofrainydays · 14/08/2014 18:55

Hi carebear I remember you too! Congrats on the bfp and here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby for you x

STIGZ · 14/08/2014 18:57

Glad your home me ... Fingers crossed swabs come back clear ? Enjoy your home comforts tonight xxx

careBear so so so happy for you :) wishing you a happy & healthy pregnancy xx

fedupofrainydays · 14/08/2014 19:02

So I was brave today and at 33 weeks have braved getting some stuff for the hospital bag and early days - nappies, lavender oil, tea tree oil and witch hazel. Plus a load of maternity pads and those things you can put in your bed in case waters go!
Then had a panic that baby hadn't moved much and I got all psycho about having made those purchases. :(

binkybunny · 14/08/2014 19:05

Aww Carebear congratulations, so so pleased and nice to hear from you Thanks

mum2kiss · 14/08/2014 19:07

Fedup yay for the purchases! You'll be glad of them when you need them in a few weeks time ;)

Aww yay carebear I was just thinking about you recently, so happy for you, congratulations!!

Me23 glad that's you home, hope you feel better soon, I'm sure a night in your own bed will make all the difference.

Pregnantagain glad they're keeping an eye on you but I'm sure you'll be fine; I had raised bp, trace protein in my urine and mild swelling in hands, feet & ankles at my 30 week check but they seemed unconcerned so hopefully same will go for you once you've had your scan and set your mind at rest.

Welcome back SJ!

Snafu33 · 14/08/2014 19:40

Hi everyone, Im technically on the Sept thread but as Im due in the last few days & it's my first I suspect the reality is that I should be on here! For some reason Im holding off buying most things & am no where near having a hospital bag ready-have just read through the last few pages here & see lots of you are already organised-makes me think I really should get going with it!I accidentally went to the last thread 1st & was pleased to see fellow eaters! I just cant seem to stop myself...
Anyway I hope everyone on here is doing well & Im off to read a few more of your stories.

Snafu33 · 14/08/2014 19:43

Sorry meant to ask-has anyone tried the hypno birthing CDs? Im not looking to use them properly for the birth-I will need pain meds but im wondering if they are worth a go for improving sleep & relaxing? Or if its far too late to bother? Thanks

Kirstipops · 14/08/2014 19:45

Hi Snafu! Its my first and technically I should be on September thread too (due 27th) but reckon I'll end up late too! September thread is getting really exciting just now with the first babies arriving and inductions coming up, been dipping into it recently!
