I work woth an Ebony and she's lovely. And bright! She has dark hair and tans easily. Think you need that colouring or are black with that name!

STIGZ · 06/08/2014 19:48

Logan. Declan . Cooper
Nathan. Dylan. Sean
Brody. Danon . James
Oliver. Cameron . Jackson
Max . Cal . Lucas
Cooper. oliver. Shae

puppythedog · 06/08/2014 19:48

Not managed to look in for a while due to holiday, poor internet and now painting the nursery. Hello all, hope you are all doing okay. I haven't caught up on the thread so if there is anything I should know so I don't put my foot in it, let me know :-)

SweetPeaPods · 06/08/2014 20:03

Sparkle on our long list of boys names are-
Rory, Reuben, William, Finlay,
Zach, Albie, Charlie,
Lewis/Louis, Oliver, Jonathan
Plus many more! Really need to narrow down a short list :-)

mum2kiss · 06/08/2014 20:22

I like Ebony...and I don't think hair or skin colouring makes a difference. I'm Imagining A Blonde baby Being Introduced As Ebony and It Doesn't Sound Odd To Me... (I have no idea why my phone decided to start every word of that sentence with a capital letter!)

We've decided on a boy and a girl name. I can't remember many of the names that made the shortlist but I know dps favourite for a boy was lewis, and mine was Evan. I didn't like his choice and he didn't like mine so we have agreed on a totally different name!

ExcitedCJ · 06/08/2014 20:25

STIGZ never listen to anyone else's opinion on names apart from your DP/DH. FWIW.. Ebony is a lovely name.
I'm having a shocker trying to find a boys name I like, I have plenty of girls names if you need any suggestions anyone...

porcito · 06/08/2014 20:30

Ugh names. I posted on the Names forum last week in total desperation after DP suggestion Concepción. I still like very few girls' names, and the only ones I really like, he thinks are for old ladies. Unlike 'Ethel' which was his other suggestion Hmm

I've just spent my third morning in a row waiting for 3 hours in the hospital just to pick up a sheet of paper with an appointment for a blood test on it. If I don't go, I don't get maternity pay, despite not needing the blood tests as I'm going private for the birth. I miss the NHS.

Me23 · 06/08/2014 20:31

Sparkle if this little one was a boy we would have named him Elijah (Eli) I also like Noah and Arlo.

We were set on Isla but I've read it's on the top 10 baby names of this year so we may use it for a middle name instead. We like violet and willow.

Anyone watching "she's having a baby"? The sheep farm couple are annoyig how immature is that man kicking up such a fuss about parenting class.

porcito · 06/08/2014 20:34

I've resorted to name generators... awesomebabyname.com/names/results

This one less so... www.mandatory.com/2013/04/09/hipster-baby-name-generator/

STIGZ · 06/08/2014 20:48

Yes girls name suggestions would be appreciated!! Dont be offended if i dont like any suggestions .,. I am so fussy !!

Kirstipops · 06/08/2014 21:12

Yes Me23, god that farmer guy is an arse!! If he watched it tonight I hope he felt embarrassed at just how much he was outshone by the other dad, he was lovely, I had a wee lump in my throat when his wifey was in labour and he was being all encouraging.
Just realised I didn't mention that I do like the name Ebony in my earlier post, sorry that looks v rude!!! It's very serene, rolls off the tongue nicely :).
LOL porcito the hipster name generator is brilliant! First one suggested was Vinyl Kale McLeod bwahaha!

STIGZ · 06/08/2014 21:39

Me i love your boys names !! ... Esp Arlo very unique :)
Yellow i love lillemor also very unique & elegant.

Thanks for all opinions on Ebony, my wee girl loves it and uses it when talking about baby... It sounds so cute when she says it in her wee sweet voice:)

I have told dp that he better start looking at baby name websites in his free time to give me some alternatives

kirstie do you think you will continue with your driving lessons ? Or wait till baby is here then start them up again?

STIGZ · 06/08/2014 21:41

Oh sweetpea i love albie ... That was on my boy list :)

YellowWellies · 06/08/2014 21:42

Stigz its pronounced 'lillamo' and in Swedish means "little mother". I love it because I lost my Mum. I love Ebony but I think it only suits those with dark hair or dark skin.

LondonJen · 06/08/2014 21:43

Ebony is a lovely name. I like Violet too. I find boys names more tricksy as well.

Had my 31 week appt today and all good other than measuring 28.5cm (was 28cm at 28 weeks) so have to go back next week and if still coming up small will be refered for a scan. Not worried as I am only little myself and everything else is fine and baby very active. Apparently if we wait till my 34 wk appt to check it could mess with my referal to Birth Centre so glad they are thinking ahead.

Managed a big Primark shop today for hospital bag. Does anyone know if the Boots disposable bed protectors are any good? Would hate to ruin our new memory foam mattress if waters went! Boots have those and maternity pads and breast pads on 3 for 2 at the mo by the way. Got some humunger towels to go nicely with my massive Primark pants!!

YellowWellies · 06/08/2014 21:48

Jen just put your mattress protector on as soon as you get it! Ours arrived on the Saturday, as I was only 35 weeks I left it in the packet. My waters went 2 days later. All over the mattress!

STIGZ · 06/08/2014 21:53

yellow what a lovely tribute to your mum .. So so sorry for your loss :( i am also giving new dd my grans name margaret as her middle name, i lost her a year in october, so baby will due around her one year anniversary :( ... Very bittersweet

YellowWellies · 06/08/2014 22:00

Stigz Sad . The first year is horribly tough. Be gentle with yourself. My Mum died at the end of September but 18 years ago now, I actually would love this baby to arrive on the anniversary to shed a little light on what has, for so long, been a sad day.

Kirstipops · 06/08/2014 22:34

Stigz I'm going to keep going with the lessons, I was fine on Monday and Tuesday so I think today was hopefully just an off day. My instructor is really flexible and said my plan for the lessons being over two weeks doesn't have to be set in stone. Thing is I don't want to cancel any of my fortnight off work, I want the bulk of my lessons to be over these two weeks that I have off so I still have the other half of the day to relax!
Oh you ladies have so many good names in the running, the one name I found this avo which I quite liked was knocked back by DH tonight, humbug.

fedupofrainydays · 06/08/2014 22:46

I have long lists for both boys and girls names but DH and I are yet to discuss and narrow down. It was easy last time as we both only liked two boys names and ds has them both!! No idea what we would have done if he was a girl!!

weeonion · 06/08/2014 22:52

evening folks - just checking in and marking place!

pusscous · 06/08/2014 22:53

Hi, I'm back. Never meant to leave it this long between posts, but was away on holiday and was catching up with thread before I posted. Two weeks ago I arrived back in the States after a very enjoyable but exhausting 10 days back home in the UK. I arrived back at 27 weeks just days before Ob has refused permission for me to fly. Trip confirmed how much we miss the UK- friends, family, our coastal lifestyle, food, shopping, but at 29 weeks now counting down until we can meet our little girl. The trip as mainly to attend my brothers wedding- was it binkbunny who was asking about dresses? I bought a lace dress from seraphine, pretty, and slightly spacious on me, but in the humidity not so comfortable in the long term! Also the strapless bra was not so comfy or flattering once i started fidgeting in the outfit. Photos look good but if I were doing it again would go for a jersey fabric- have a lovely bodycon one which is really comfy.

We are almost ready now- on the trip we bought lots of baby clothes enough for outfits for each month, apart from vests- oops just remembered! bedding and changing bag. Pram was bought earlier, crib arrived as we did and just ordered cotbed and mattress. Have some bedding just need more pratical blankets and sleep areas are ready. Major items left are the car seat, changing mat and wash/ bath items. Reading all the recent talk on hospital bags has made me panic that Im not ready and am really jealous of the talk of Boots- miss it big time- there is not an equivalent here for most UK shops which makes finding things difficult.

we have lots of nagging to let the grandparent to be know the name/ short list- but no way! for the reasons others have mentioned

YellowWellies · 06/08/2014 22:58

I've just got jury service selection for the next 12 months. Can you believe being heavily pregnant and (anticipating) BF is not a standard excusal? I have to write to apply for special permission to be excused. Not that the law is blimmin chauvinist or anything!? Envy

pusscous · 06/08/2014 23:11

Baby is still transverse- head on my right side- and as i type she is poking me and the ipad- keyboard propped against bump and legs.

Kirsti Im admiring your ability to take the driving lessons at the moment. Hope the rest go ok for you. I have been shattered since my trip home and when im tired my temper can flare but still in a logical way, now I am like a toddler, no rational, no brain, just need to hit the off button, my poor dh! I cant focus on anything at the point not even tv other than sleep. Guess you might tell from the bad grammar and typos!

We have had a few comments along the lines of 'not left us anything to buy'. well some have bought us items already, we need items with us ready to go- cant wait for international post for gifted items to turn up post birth and no UK shops/ supermarkets at all. some do international delivery but still takes a while so we need to be prepared- the quality of th local shopping is sad but we ddrove on the weekend an hour and half to go to a centre that we actually liked. one of the first things mil said to us on arrival home was shes left out, her family bought everything, nothing big left for her to buy. Only cot and pram bought at that point, but they were earmarked by family before we even conceived- a 'i bought this for the your sibling, will do the same for you'. mil never offered, she actually said we should have asked her to purchase something! DH was gobsmacked- like no, you offer or we buy. Turned out she did not want to spend the amount of the pram/ cotbed. She purchased the crib, was only interested in that not the more expensive car seat, bouncy/gliding chair or other items. Hmmpf despair of mil,was one of many things she did that aggravated......

pusscous · 06/08/2014 23:12

That makes life easy Yellow [hmmm] hope you can push it back
