Welcome newbies!

Misty as pp have said it is normal and should be fine to have brown discharge but it is scary! ((hugs)) Definitely worth phoning someone if you want to, even if only to put your mind at rest.

purple you don’t need to take DH with you and seven weeks is fine. In our area the midwives won’t see anyone until ten weeks.

bradders I’m jealous of all the early booking in appointments and scans too.

hetsto Sorry for the loss of your girls. It must be so tough Thanks My SIL’s mum was pregnant with a little girl a few years ago and found out she had died nine days before her due date. I know it has had a profound effect on the whole family and they mark the anniversary each year when it comes round. It makes me well up every time I think about it. I hope you have a healthy pregnancy and everything goes to plan.

notoasthere · 23/07/2014 14:30

misty I had brown spotting at 4+1 and +2 and all ok so far

Outed myself at work today due to persistent retching in a meeting. Hopefully the.girl I was meeting with will keep it to herselfSad Sad :-[

I officially want to join you ladies, if that's alright. I've been lurking and reading all of your posts, but too scared/superstitious to join until today (8 week scan).

I have just had my second scan at 8 weeks today with good news! I had a 7 week (private) last week and NHS 8 week for a viability scan today. Both have gone well, so I am breathing a bit better.

I had an MMC in May (2014) (I was 8 weeks pregnant, but embryo only showed 5 weeks growth size). The heartbeat stopped around the beginning of the 8th week. Incredibly devastated...

So, needless to say, this time around I have been SUPER reluctant to celebrate, breathe, sigh, or make assumptions, but after two scans I feel better. I am feeling more positive and would like to join you all on this journey!

I am 8 weeks exactly today and my due date is March 4th, 2015!!!! Grin This will be my first baby. Grin

Could I be added to the list? Thanks

MrsAmelia · 23/07/2014 15:08

Northdownmummy did you tell her you are preggers or just sick? I hope she keeps quiet for you.

ohfourfoxache · 23/07/2014 15:21

MrsA that's brilliant news love Thanks

So, so pleased for you x

smokeandglitter · 23/07/2014 15:32

MrsA huge welcome and fantastic news that little one seems to be developing well.

Northdownmummy Hope she keeps quiet, can you have a quiet word just to say how important it is as even people close to you don't know yet?

Gosh, ditzy brain today and keeps drifting into thinking about pregnancy and babies - well, not difficult seeing as I work for a preg+parenting mag but I mean my preg not general. Grin

Got the Mumsnet Pregnancy book through just now too!

MrsAmelia · 23/07/2014 15:35

PintofTea
It's really up to you on how the early scans make you feel. I have felt they gave me concrete answers, or as concrete as possible. I'm the type of person who needs to know things in advance or at least what to expect, otherwise I worry too much (negative trait).

During my first pregnancy I ended up going to a private clinic in London (I live there) and the 6 week viability scan wasn't straightforward, so I ended up getting scanned every week essentially until the embryo died. It was nerve-wracking, but in hindsight I wouldn't have wanted to end up at the 12 week scan thinking all along I was carrying a healthy baby, but find it not to be true.

Do what makes you feel most comfortable and calm. I just had my 7 & 8 week scans completed with success. I was so nervous for the 7th week, but then massively reassured when I saw a blueberry size embryo spot on for growth and a 138 BPM heart rate :). I lost symptoms, or many of the previous ones faded over last week, so waiting for the NHS 8 week viability was killing me this last week. I was so paranoid, but after seeing further on-target growth and a fluttering heart, I can honestly say it has put my mind at ease. I didn't make it this far last time, so the scans have given me something to grasp onto and stay positive about.

Sorry for the long post, but get your early scan if you think you are ready for it. Don't stress yourself out either way (easier said than done, I know).

I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you and your bean!!!
Thanks

Congrats mrsa glad to hear your little one is growing well; gives me hope for mine since my last pregnancy the embryo also stopped growing around 5 weeks but took some 4 more to actually end. (And had heartbeat etc...) I know that heartbreak.

sleepingflower · 23/07/2014 16:40

Can I join you?! I got my good news on Sunday and think I'm 4+4. I've added myself to the list. I think I'm due on 26th march which is DHs birthday! I'm a bit reluctant to think any further ahead than tomorrow tbh as I had a miscarriage nearly 9 weeks ago. Whilst it wasn't too bad physically (as I think everything had started failing before I even found out I was pregnant) emotionally it was so much harder than I expected. I've got an 8 year old DS and DSD 16 and DSS14. I'm 40 so really petrified something bad will happen again.

We are due to go on holiday to Florida in a couple of weeks so no rides for me and I'm going to have to fake a back injury to keep it from the DCs!

I'm seeing the GP tomorrow and hoping they'll give me some anti nausea tablets just in case morning sickness kicks in when I'm away. I was on holiday when pregnant with Ds at the same stage and the sickness was awful!

MrsAmelia · 23/07/2014 16:42

safra72 - thanks...how far along are you now? I'm 35 (almost 36) and I had no idea miscarriages were so prevalent. My experience hit me like a MACK truck head on. Neither my husband or I had any clue or expectation it would have happened. Now I am reading up on everything I can get my hands on to educate myself as much as possible. I feel blessed to have fallen pregnant so soon after my MMC. It happened immediately after my first AF.

How long have you been trying? Is this your first? Wishing you lots of sticky dust... Wink

teaandbiscuitsforme · 23/07/2014 16:46

Hi newbies!

MrsA, so pleased your scan went well! I'm in exactly the same situation following MMC and going for a private scan next Sat when I'll be 6+6. Just keeping my fingers crossed for that heartbeat! Hope you can relax a bit now!

persepolis123 · 23/07/2014 17:00

Has anyone who has had a previous mc managed to get an early scan on the NHS? I wonder if it's worth asking or if I should book privately.

PintOfTea · 23/07/2014 17:03

Thank you MrsA for your lovely thoughtful post. So glad your scans showed good things Smile

I too like information, so I thought I'd get an early scan this time no question. But, the knowledge that it could all go wrong between the first scan and 12 weeks made me worry that any reassurance would be short-lived, and we'd be £100 lighter and still worrying. Having said that, I do think I've convinced myself to go ahead because I figure a little reassurance is better than none, and because what I wouldn't have given to have found out at 7 or 8 weeks rather than 13+6 last time!

I'm easy commuter distance from London, would you recommend your clinic? Also, the doctor yesterday said I wouldn't get an NHS scan earlier than 12 weeks unless there were specific concerns with symptoms in this pregnancy. On what basis did you have your viability scan? Sorry to bombard you with questions. Congratulations on your little bean!

Just seen the updated list. I have 1 DD already and I'm guessing at a due date of 25th. I'll update....

My GP said I should be able to have one due to 2 previous mc persepolis and I'm NHS. He agreed it would be reassuring and just check everything was moving along smoothly. It's definitely worth asking, do you have a GP you trust to listen to you? I'd book with them and see if they'll do it.

Sleepingflower you can have lots of hand holding on this thread. Bless you re holiday!

I seem to be greedy and be on here twice, so just removing one of me! Smile

Persepolis, I'm starting to think it depends on your gp... I was told no, even though I asked nicely after a long mmc this year and told him how anxious it was making me. He was nice though, and said if I go private, try to wait until 8 weeks because before then there's a chance you won't see anything, which will make you worry more. Can't hurt to ask.

Does anyone know the earliest you can have an early scan, I'll be away from 6+1 so it would be good to get some reassurance before I go (but as someone else said it would be short lived reassurance!)

Hi newbies!

Finding it very hard to keep up today. I hope everyone is feeling ok. Congrats to all with good scan news!

Still no symptoms for me. I'm trying not to worry about it, but pregnancy makes me very anxious.

Just seen you post pintoftea - that makes sense!

Smokeandglitter, think you just bumped me off!

(I'd re-do it myself, but my laptop is in it's death throes and it took ages and lots of groaning to copy and paste last time!)
