I had my booking in appt yesterday, I am 6+1 due 16th march. blood tests next week. ooh it feels really real now! still have achey boobs and starting to feel nauseous Envy Grin

kettlepot · 23/07/2014 08:05

Ooh thanks tea!! That makes me feel better Smile I reckon my hb levels will be about 10/11 (started at 8, last time was 9).

rainbow you probably already know this! but if you take tablets on a full stomach they're not so bad. I have one right before bedtime and that massively alleviated sickness (though I'm not quite at morning sickness stage yet, so this might not work!)

Also - is anyone else getting an early scan? I'm hoping to go for one at approx 8 weeks as flying to America at 12 weeks (ish) and want to make sure everything is okay before I go. It's a work trip as well, so I'm super nervous about telling them. Only been there 4 months, still in probationary and it's a fixed year long contract (the day it finishes is my due date!) They're usually really good with maternity leave, so I'm hoping my circumstances won't be an exception... They seem to like what I'm doing so far so fingers crossed! Smile

Hope you all have lovely days!!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 23/07/2014 08:06

Rainbow I've no idea but my doc just said that as I've been on them for a while, to have a break from them for a few weeks and then check. Can see myself going back on them to be honest! She recommended pregaday which is just folic acid and iron (more iron than other multi-vits) but it might not be enough if you're too low.

teaandbiscuitsforme · 23/07/2014 08:08

Rainbow Didn't mean I've no idea if they can make it worse-just that I hadn't experienced them making it worse! Doc said they might.

smokeandglitter · 23/07/2014 08:37

Is it possible to want to nest this early? I have no real food cravings, just a huge craving to organise and clean my house. Smile Having to wait until the weekend to start organising because of work but suddenly hugely excited and simultaneously terrified because of the previous mc (though with this p everything feels different, especially it coming now because everything has sort of fallen into place with my life ifyswim). I've always been someone who enjoys organising and sorting and listing things but never experienced it to this extent.

Kettlepot I was supposed to be having an early scan but haven't heard back from my GP yet so going to phone or pop in today, partly to check he got my CMHT doctor's notes as they're famous for contact going awry. He had said to wait for a couple of weeks so I am sort of guessing he may be contacting me closer to the time.

MooMaid · 23/07/2014 08:37

Booking in app this morning! I'm 7+6 & I'm taking DH - he wants to be involved so even if it is a snoozefest he wants to be a part of it. Plus I have other medical issues which may impact and in the past my surgery hasn't been the most useful so I'm hoping the nurse/MW is better and if not DH is there as 'back-up'!!

madasacatter · 23/07/2014 08:43

Morning ladies,

Sorry for lurking but after our house move a few weeks ago we still have no Internet and the phone signal here is non - existent.

Unfortunately, I'm out of work at the moment as I'm a contractor which means far to much time to worry about symptoms etc

I'm fretting about my mw appt as it hasn't even been booked! I saw the doc just over 2 weeks ago, and when I rang the surgery they made me feel so silly for even asking when I would get a call to book an appointment as 'they don't have contact with the midwives'
A midwife is in the surgery today so I hope I get a call

I hope you ladies are dealing with the heat ok, it's horrible here.

Pink have you had a mw appointment booked yet?

fourmonthstogo · 23/07/2014 08:44

kettle snap - except I've only been there 3 months and will be leaving before my year is out. For me, it is crazy timing career wise, and I won't have been there long enough to get smp. And one of the other members of the team is due to go off in September on mat leave. So I am really not looking forward to telling them! kettle have you been there long enough to get smp - it's something like 15 weeks before you get pregnant.

Hope everyone has a good day

M27J5M · 23/07/2014 08:55

Morning ladies Smile hope your all well

1st day back at work today after nearly 2 weeks off and my god it nearly killed me this morning, want back to my bed and I'm not even at work yet!

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 08:56

Morning all,

Fergie, Saffra & Tanny, I'm 40 and this is my first pregnancy, I seem to be treated like anyone else as I've not been booked for early scan (booked for 12 week dating scan) and won't see midwife until mid August.

What I've noticed on this thread is the difference in how quickly people are getting their midwife appts or offered early scans. Is this down to local area or individual clinics?

notoasthere · 23/07/2014 09:04

durham I think most of us are paying privately for early scans or getting them due to previous losses. My booking in appointment is next week at nearly 8 weeks but some trusts combine your booking in appointment with your scan at 12 weeks, others you need to see your gp to get a mw referral, some you book directly. It would be far easier if they all had a standard plan so you didn't have to jump hoops to get an appointment!

KeeperOfTheZoo · 23/07/2014 09:09

I agree Durham - the disparity in methods/timings of GP/MW/scan appointments across the country is crazy. First time round I went to the GP the day after I got my BFP and (although it was a locum) he just said they didn't really do anything so it was a waste of time going, and to just get details of the MW clinic from the receptionist on my way out. Because of that, this time round, my GP doesn't even know I'm pg - I've just gone straight to the Sure Start Centre where the MW is based and made an appointment directly with her. I don't think that technically it will be my booking-in appointment, just a "Hi, how are you, when was your last period, your EDD is..." kind of chat. That's what happened last time anyway, then my proper booking-in appointment was a few weeks later.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today - the heatwave continues!!

ohfourfoxache · 23/07/2014 09:20

It is weird, I'm booked with the mw at 9 weeks and i self referred online.

But I went to see my GP last week (other issues) and came away with a huge amount of paperwork and advice on what to eat and Emma's diary - GP was surprised that I didn't have all this already Hmm

I feel like shit. Day 2 of horrific nausea - I'm beginning to wish I could just be sick and get it over with. Nothing seems to be working Sad

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 09:25

Thanks notoast that makes sense regarding early scans, I did wonder being new to this. A standard plan would be great!

Keeper my gp was great, I booked an appt with him once I got my BFP 3days before period due. He did the midwife referral and i got my appointment date within 3days. He has been really helpful regarding my morning sickness too, as I've been finding it hard to keep anything down (prochlorperazine is a boon!). It is crazy how many people have had so many different experiences with their gp.

pintofmilk · 23/07/2014 09:29

Morning Ladies!

Permission to join in please?

I have been watching your posts and desperate to join in, but just have not had the energy to type on my keyboard.

This is DC #4 for me.
EDD is 6th March (so 7+5 today)

Just done the school run for DC's 1/2, can't wait for Friday so no more alarm setting, finding PE kits and last minute trips.

Symptons so far: Absolutly knackered. Have DD #3 at home, 22 months so not much chance of lying down. Feel sick and can only manage to eat toast and marmite.

FoscarC · 23/07/2014 10:08

welcome pint. I'm one of four children and until now (I'm pg with my first) I didn't realise quite how hard it must have been for my mum. I'm exhausted and I only have me to look after.

safra I have to go to an obs too. Not for age (I'm 33), but because of a heart condition. It's been tested time and again and I'm fine. And am fit and active and so on. But I think they are just super cautious with baby things.

motherofaninsomniac doctors receptionists can be so nosey and rude. I phoned up mine to chase up my midwife appt and she said 'well you're far too early to be seen aren't you' and then snorted at me. Stupid cow bag! This is my first and I have no idea about anything. Anyway. Receptionists have no right to ask about why you want to see the doctor. In fact, according to NHS rules they can not know anything medical as they are not medically trained. I work in the medical sphere and used to work in the Nhs and receptionists are just nosey. Tell them it's none of their business. You have every right to see your GP when ever you want. I always take great pleasure in telling the receptionists that it is none of their business when they ask what is wrong. I went once if got my BFP at about 5-6 weeks which is what you are recommended to do.

Rant over!!!

All good here. Still feel a bit woofy. Need my blood pressure to go up.

m33r · 23/07/2014 10:24

It's official. I have no symptoms! [hmmm]

charlieis30 · 23/07/2014 10:27

Hello everyone. 7weeks today, which is past the point of my first MC so yay to that!
Freaking myself out about ectopic though. Have been having light twinges through the pregnancy mostly on one side. Assumed it is just the uterus moving around. Have been flying regularly over the last few weeks on a work trip so no chance to get to the GP yet (appointment next Tuesday when I'm back in London). DH thinks I probably just have back pain from all the plane seats. But I've also had the runs (sorry TMI). I'm in Asia, so it's not super uncommon here, even though I've been drinking bottled water of course. But Dr Google (I KNOW) has managed to freak me out as both those symptoms are normal in ectopics. I've booked myself in for a private scan next Friday (Aug 1st) but I'm not sure what else I should do. Try to stay calm I suppose. I'm starting to get excited about the pregnancy now my prev MC day has passed but I don't know if I can cope with an ectopic this time.
When does pregnancy get fun?!?! Confused

Safra72 · 23/07/2014 10:43

Probably after the 12 week scan Charlie!

I'm having an 8 week scan Monday due to previous mc. Last time I bled at 7 weeks, had a scan and the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks. Had an agonising 2 week wait for the next scan and that showed no growth but oddly you could see the heartbeat! Was told to do my booking in app as a heartbeat is a viable pregnancy (I didn't because with no growth it was clear to me the pregnancy was failing!)

I miscarried a few days after. Hence the early scan and hence how worried I am.

Ds is 3 and was an ivf baby so thrilled to get pregnant naturally (well taking aspirin was a last inspired resort!) but conscious that the ivf consultant said that even if I got pregnant my chance of going to term was negligible. :(

Sorry - bit of a long post!!

Anyways off camping in the Peak District this weekend so hoping to take my mind off Mondays scan!!

Hope you are all well :)

pinkandstripey · 23/07/2014 10:56

mad the one thing I learned from the last year, is that every surgery in mk does it totally differently! I complained about it at ds 1 year check and was told that they are going to do much more joined up care across the city from autumn this year. We'll see...! I had a mw appointment yesterday to do bloods, and have booking in (at home!) tmrw. Drop me a pm if you fancy a coffee or something sometime :)

4months there is also maternity allowance if you work but don't qualify for smp. It's a flat rate of 135 something/week, rather than smp's increased rate for the first 6 weeks.

Not feeling too terrible today, had potato wedges and green beans for dinner last night. Missing my cups of tea tho :(

Hope everyone has a good day xx

fourmonthstogo · 23/07/2014 11:14

Thanks pink, yes I know and I will get mat allowance. The money will come in handy but it is the lack of job to go back to that worries me!

Hi all, can I join in?

Got my bfp on Sunday and I'm due around 25-27th March :-) Not 100% sure of the date because my cycle length varies between 30-33 days these days and I'm not sure which to go with! Appt with doc yesterday snd he used 32 days which gives 27th so I'll stick to that for now.

My DD is 3. Also, I had a mmc at 7-8wks not discovered until 14wks in Jan so massively nervous this time around. I thought that if/when I was pg again I would want an early scan, but I'm hesitating booking it now in case it causes as much anxiety as it solves... Has any one had one and would you recommend it?

Read through some of the thread, sympathies with all the sick and tiredness. I'm ok at the moment, but I do tend to just fall asleep mid evening and I'm just waiting for the horrible constant nausea to start (I've not been physically sick in pg before which I'm grateful for, but know what bone crushing tiredness feels like!).

FoscarC · 23/07/2014 11:50

misty try not to worry. A few of us have had brown discharge and it is such a scary thing. But I think the general consensus is that brown is fine. The time to worry is if it is heavy, red and has clots and you have cramping with it. I had brown for a few days last week and it's all settled now. I had my booking in appt with the midwife yesterday and she didn't seem at all bothered when I mentioned it to her. But if you're worried you can call your local delivery unit. I did when I was getting mine - just googled the closest maternity ward and phoned them for advice and they were really kind and helpful and reassuring. And I felt very silly for phoning but they did not make me feel like I'd been silly for phoning. I'm sure they must get it a lot.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 23/07/2014 12:15

Wow, more newbies!Welcomepintofmilk and PintOfTea*!

Misty I'm sure it will be fine if it's brown but if you're worried then don't hesitate to speak to MW/EPU.

Safra hope yo enjoy your camping, sounds like just the kind of distraction you need! Smile
