Hi Ladies,
I had my scan yesterday and all was as it should be. Turns out I'm 6+6 which means this was a birthday baby (my birthday - lots of champagne and rather a fun evening!!).
I wasn't too sure things were all on track as I had been feeling decidedly un-pregnant up until yesterday, but as if by magic I woke up yesterday with bigger boobs and a distinctly queazy feeling!
I had my last 2 babies in England and now I'm back in Aus, so I'm a bit daunted by the idea of being enormously pregnant through a hot Sydney Summer - urgh!! Getting my head around the different systems here too - hospitals/obstetricians etc. This is going to be one very expensive baby!! :-0

northdownmummy · 29/07/2014 01:38

So just in case anyone was wondering, jetlag and constant nausea are a delightful combination.
Clock says 8:30 but tummy knows it's well after midnight and is protesting at being made to stay up.
Don't know what to do for best, if I let myself sleep now I'll be up at 3 and I'm chairing workshops all day tomorrow so nowhere to hide (our nap)Sad

Surfsup1 · 29/07/2014 01:43

Oh wow - that does NOT sound like fun! Where have you flown to to acquire this delightful addition to the standard-issue symptoms?

northdownmummy · 29/07/2014 02:01

I'm in new Hampshire, todays fun travels...
30 mins taxi
2hrs bus
1hr check in & security queues
2hrs immigration
6.5hr flight
1hr drive (on the wrong side of the road)
Left home at 6:40 and only stopping now 19 hrs later.

Hi everyone! Just back from a trip to Italy for a few days and oh my goodness so much has happened on here!

Congrats to those on the scans, positive growth, booked appointments and positive news!! Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about purple. I hope she's getting lots of support and care.

Hi to the newbies and congrats on your BFPs. Smile

Military Ladies - great Army mat uniform.
Where do we order online? Wink
Foscar fab photo!!

Sorry to those suffering from MS. I feel no nausea now, limited food turn-offs, BUT my tummy is so bloated it's insane!! The ob/gym doc couldn't even seen my left ovary during my 8 week scan because of the air/gas in my tummy. TMI alert: I am not passing the gas either, unless I do when I sleep, so WTF?? When will it get out? How will it get out?!? I have always had a flat tummy and no muffin top, but now I look like a flipping heifer, with only 8+6 weeks of pregnancy to blame it on. My friend suggested I bend over and hold my calves from behind to pass/force the air out. I tried, unsuccessfully. Can't do it long as it hurts my tummy.

My gripes now are food and insomnia. So, I ate so much pesto and focaccia while away, now I can't go back to "normal" food. While away I got tested for toxoplasmosis. My results were negative, which surprised me really. I thought I would've tested positive and built up antibodies to it (I've got four cats & am a big veggie eater). So now onto being super cautious with the cat clean-up and fruit & veg scrubbing, which the latter is such a pain more than anything. I just bought Milton to use as my disinfectant for fruit and veg. Anyone else tried it yet?

It's 3:12am, so I'm still "dealing" with the insomnia.

Any suggestions?

Glad to be back, but would really like to get a solid 8hrs sleep at least once before I head back to work.

Keeping my toes and fingers crossed for more positive scans and news. Thanks

Surfsup1 · 29/07/2014 03:38

MrsAmelia, Magnesium can really help with insomnia. Maybe try a supplement and/or an epsom salt bath before bed?
Not sure about the bloating, I'm afraid - I hope it alleviates itself soon (and in private!)

notoasthere · 29/07/2014 06:22

Morning all

How come children just know when you've been out the night before? Very little sleep due to getting home late and a snoring, blanket stealing oh, then ds decides 445 is a suitable getting up time

MW booking in app this morning at 10 - have to take ds with me, hoping he will be ok!

The military dress has definitely cheered me up this morning. It's not too bad, just channeling Foyles War a bit?

I feel so rubbish constantly, I don't know how I'm going to make it through the rest of the trimester. DP keeps reiterating the whole "strong hormones are good for the baby" argument, which - whilst he has good intentions - makes me want to duct tape his mouth. Off to work armed with ginger biscuits, hoping this will help me through a six hour meeting this afternoon. Blergh.

Congrats to everyone with positive scan news! Very exciting Smile

Brummiegirl15 · 29/07/2014 07:46

Hey all.
Great news about all the early scans and litte heartbeats beating away. My early scan is next Saturday and I am counting down the days!!!
So sorry purple I've been there - thinking of you and hope you get lots of love and support.
My symptoms are coming and going, very very queasy yesterday and tired this morning, plus the bloat is actually giving me a bump!!!! So as a result a member if my team actually asked outright if I was pregnant FFS!!!!!

Rainbow555 · 29/07/2014 08:13

surfsup I am in NZ and also thinking ahead to being very pregnant in mid summer!!
The military dress gave me a giggle! Sorry to those whose only option it is!
Today's nausea led to almost sickness 4 times, mainly due to hunger and bloating I think! Had to lecture late and was so hungry when I finished just have to force the good down verb though it was the last thing I wanted! I hate ginger but I am also armed with ginger biscuits and ale! kettle
Hope your appt goes well notoast

Surfsup1 · 29/07/2014 08:17

Does it get hot where you are Rainbow? What do you swim in when you're pregnant? I can't remember ever swimming in my last pregnancies but I think I'll spend a lot of this one bobbing around in the surf to try and get comfortable!

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 29/07/2014 08:55

Morning! So bloated here i could easily pass for 5 months rather than 5 weeks! This is baby 3 in pretty quick succession, anyone else the same? No idea how I'll hide this for another 7-9 weeks (one of my local friends didn't get scanned til 14 weeks!!)
Sorry you are all feeling so poorly, it won't be for too long hopefully. I just have mild but constant nausea so I can't complain too much.

ZebraZeebra · 29/07/2014 09:10

This is probably TMI...but in my experience these groups tend to get deep into TMI territory anyway...but my - ummm - lady area seems to be producing a rather potent smell. Not a bad, funky, off smell. Just pungent. I'm showering every day but don't like using Femfresh type products because they fuck your good bacteria up. Just water. I feel like some kind of prehistoric deadly sweet smelling flower! Grin

ZebraZeebra · 29/07/2014 09:13

surfsup at 41 weeks last time, I swam two miles because it was so nice to feel "light" Grin I also remember I was working from home from July because it was the Olympics and we live in London, and I spent most of July and August in the home birth pool we'd bought, just wallowing in water like a hippo!

ZebraZeebra · 29/07/2014 09:15

Also - sorry for the successive posts but - wildly excited about all the positive scans and heartbeats but also WILDLY JEALOUS too. stamps foot I want a scan! I should have pushed for one after my early mc the month before but I thought I could be a cool cat about it all.

MrsAmelia · 29/07/2014 09:16

Thanks surfsup1 I'll go to Holland and Barrett and see if I can get some mg. I've got grey bags under my eyes due to lack of proper sleep.

Did anyone read the whine & complaint pregnancy thread in the pregnancy section?

I read it all this morning and now I am freaked the hell out!! [Shock]

ZebraZeebra · 29/07/2014 09:18

No MrsAmelia whyfor? All the various joys that pregnancy brings?

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 29/07/2014 09:25

Zebrazeebra I feel the same, happy for everyone but jealous that mines potentially sooooooo far away!!!

Rainbow555 · 29/07/2014 09:45

surfsup probably not as hot as you get to be fair but last summer was pretty good and up around the 30s - our buildings are not really kitted out with ac etc to help! Umm I guess someone must do maternity swimwear?! Never thought about it!

ZebraZeebra · 29/07/2014 09:50

You can definitely get maternity swim wear. Or if you're feeling brave, wear a bikini and bare the bump (I never got up the courage to do that!).

Brummiegirl15 · 29/07/2014 09:51

zebra me too!!!! Not bad as such - just quite strong musky if that makes sense?

Glad I'm not only one

ZebraZeebra · 29/07/2014 09:54

Oh thank god I'm not the only one brummiegirl!!

tannyLoo · 29/07/2014 10:28

I'm off Marmite!!!! Never, ever had that before Sad

Can echo the funky fanny. Definitely not my favourite symptom. Actually I don't think I have a favourite symptom.

Tips for ms?

  • Don't stop eating! Hunger is your enemy!
  • Eat some protein, at the moment I really like BabyBels!
  • Vary what you eat, so the one food you can tolerate doesn't become the one food you can't stand.
  • Sleep when you can, tiredness makes ms worse
  • Eat and drink in the morning in bed before getting up
  • Have a break from it all. My ms is made so much better by a weekend camping.

I have my booking in today, at 8+2 and my next scan is on Monday. A little hard lump just above my pubic bone tells me we are getting there. The flab above it tells me I've been following my own advice too much!

coastergirl · 29/07/2014 10:30

So...I had my scan this morning and as suspected I am VERY early, only 5+4. However, everything is as it should be and they are able to see a tiny heartbeat Smile

I am very relieved. Not sure I realised how much this means to me until now. Hope everyone else is good today.

Butterpuff · 29/07/2014 10:32

Morning all....that military maternity dress is fabulous....wonder if I could pick one up in the army surplus?!

Good news on the scan Surf and to all the others hearing heartbeats and seeing beans.

I just had a read of that thread Amelia I have been totally shocked at how bad pregnancy has been so far, I had no idea, wouldn't surprise me if the rest was awful too. Except a few lovely ladies on here have assured me that after the first tri nausea is gone they have loved their pregnancies. I'm hoping to copy them Smile. Still, I've lost half a stone now, loose another half and I'm down to my pre-wedding weight Wink
