Pickled I know, he really comes into his own when I need looking after. Just confirms he is definitely the right person to be having babies with!

Hello KentExpecting and welcome! Popcorn is a super tip, I might try that! Sympathies on the commute, that sounds completely horrific. I remember using the tubes over the course of one summer day when pregnant with ds2. Hot, packed, being shoved about. Absolute nightmare.

KentExpecting · 27/07/2014 21:49

I'm lucky, I can avoid the a tube - just a car, train and then bus journey, lol! Having said that, I sat down next to a perfectly nice looking woman on the bus the other morning... And then she pulled a McDonald's bag from her bag and unwrapped some kind of burger. The smell!!! gag

Brummiegirl15 · 27/07/2014 21:51

Evening all, hope we are ok and ad good weekends!!!

I've defo got a bit of a bump, I think it's probably just bloat but even so...

Another thing, I had a mooch in the nursery dept of John Lewis yesterday - totting up buggy, carrycot and car seat has freaked me out, probably £1k for all 3!! That's the cost of a mini metro... Gulp

Babies are an expensive business

kettlepot · 27/07/2014 22:09

Hi kent - welcome! Popcorn is an absolutely brilliant idea. The only problem is I now want some. We have none. Sad. Also bit worried about flying... Flying in two weeks for hols, and then business trip to US in mid sept. Expecting it to be uncomfortable but hoping tolerable (first baby, rather clueless though). Luckily my commute is usually only two hours.

And Shock brummie!!! Blimey. Looks like I'll be asking for JL vouchers as wedding gifts (October wedding + unexpected pregnancy = not sure if dress will fit)

northdownmummy · 27/07/2014 22:17

[Kent] I worry about work travel too, in fact I'm heading off to the states early tomorrow morning for 3 days of meetings.
No idea how I'm going to deal with the tiredness and nausea. Worst if all I'm really over emotional about leaving my DD who's 19 months. It'll be threw third time I've done this trip in the past 7 months but the first time I'm such an emotional wreck.
I've also just taken over management for a team based in a different city. It's a 250 mile round trip which I did once last week. Out in the states next week then probably need to do it at least once the week after. Fitting in between booking assignments and current work commitments.
Would love to be resting up but struggling to keep on top of everything

Peanutbutterfingers · 27/07/2014 22:26

Hello, hope you don't mind me popping in, my March 2010 baby is just getting ready to start school, I could not have got this far without my antenatal thread and the wonderful support from the ladies therein.

Your thread keeps popping up in my active convos and making me nostalgic :)

Enjoy this time and I hope you get the support from each other that we did. Most of us are still on a Facebook group and still check in with new developments and coo over pictures and we've managed to have several meet ups.

I am very jealous you've still got that amazing meeting your baby moment :)

Good luck x

Brummiegirl15 · 27/07/2014 22:29

Kent and Northdown - I've got flights too - NYC at 12 weeks (although trip rather than work) and then Barcelona at 22 weeks for work. Eeekkkk!

Kettle how fab its it's all coming at once, although I get where you are coming from re dress!!

JL vouchers are going to be great idea!!

kettlepot · 28/07/2014 06:26

Thanks brummie!! Fingers crossed... Luckily it was a bit big, so hoping it will just not need alterations. Although I don't think I'll be wearing heels, so will need a bit chopped off the end.

smokeandglitter · 28/07/2014 06:43

Thanks peanut what a lovely message and hope all goes well for you and little one - or not so little! Grin

brummie we're planning on getting things off eBay, amazon and free cycle mainly, it's still expensive but waaay cheaper. Obviously car seat and cot mattress will be new. Actually though I work in the baby/parenting industry so if everything goes to plan hopefully can get a couple of the expensive bits free. Wink though that's definitely not a given.

notoasthere · 28/07/2014 06:46

Good luck today apple

Welcome kent Yes, that does sound like a bit of an error re your scan - give them a call today

How is everyone feeling?

charlieis30 · 28/07/2014 07:22

Morning all! To the girls with the flights - I did 45 hours (all in economy, yuck) over the past 3-4 weeks. The last Singapore-Londn leg was the worst. I drank lots of water, took packets of water crackers with me and ordered the vegan meal (no meat or dairy eurgh). I also took some fruit on board with me, and made sure I had an aisle seat for all the trips to the loo! Also apparently you're more susceptible to clots so I wore those super-attractive DVT socks, you can buy them in Boots.
No more flying for me until bubs is due thank goodness, except for maybe a babymoon in Europe in about November.
Good luck for your flights xx

ZebraZeebra · 28/07/2014 08:48

Oh god all of you having to do long haul flights for work are absolute heroes!

Safra72 · 28/07/2014 08:49

Waiting for scan. This is the worst part :(

Had a fab weekend camping tho.

Hope all of you are well. X

persepolis123 · 28/07/2014 09:05

Good luck apple and safra for today

Welcome kent. I wonder if they meant 3rd of September for your scan? Definitely give them a call.

I made it into work this morning. Not feeling too bad as yet but it's still early.

ChatEnOeuf · 28/07/2014 09:18

Good luck for scan day today Apple

I'm sick as a dog - DH has commented how much worse I look than with DD. Cue much teasing there may be two in there. Not funny. I'm high risk for preterm birth anyway, I don't want another risk factor! Scan tomorrow as previous mc and had some bleeding last week which, fingers crossed, seems to have settled.

Sad news though, purplecircle has miscarried over the weekend so won't be back in here.

ChatEnOeuf · 28/07/2014 09:19

Ooh good luck to you too Safra

Safra72 · 28/07/2014 09:20

Oh wow!!! The relief is enormous!!!

Measuring 7+5 (am 8+1) so we are very very happy. Last time baby measured 5+2 at 7 weeks. So past that stage :)

Saw the heart beating too!

That was the longest 45 min wait tho!
And got away with a tummy scan even with an empty bladder!!

On cloud 9!

Butterpuff · 28/07/2014 09:36

Congrats Safra great news. Hope we get more good news from Apple Chat I hope that DHs teasing is just that and your bean is just one and all well. Sorry to hear about purplecircle, sending her warm wishes.

I'm fed up with feeling sick, had a bit of a cry at the weekend about it. But at 9+3 today hopefully I only have 2 and a half weeks left of it before I start seeing some improvements. We went to the Ivy Sunday (a gift) and I had to order the most plain dishes on the menu, of which I ate only half of each, it was fab, but wish I could have enjoyed it properly.

smokeandglitter · 28/07/2014 09:52

So sad for purplecircle, thinking of you if you read this.

Safra - congrats! You must be reassured and excited! Grin

Hope everything goes well, Apple, keeping you in my thoughts.

Chat, hoping you get just the one little one and as low risk as possible for you.

In awe and admirations of everyone doing long flights, or any flights for that matter!

I felt terrible yesterday, but a bit better today in time for work which is good.

charlieis30 · 28/07/2014 09:52

safra congrats! I've rebooked my first private scan for tomorrow (7+6) so FC for that.

Feeling sick today plus stomach cramps from all the fruit I've been eating (fruit and carbs are all I can stomach). Have to go to Richmond to interview a possible PR agency for my company and just Cant Be Bothered.

Making things worse DH has injured his foot so is in the WORST mood at the moment - we're snapping at each other constantly.

FoscarC · 28/07/2014 10:06

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all ok.

safra that is great news. Yay!! It must have been amazing.

purplecircle I'm so sorry. That is awful. Sending lots of love.

brummie we went to john Lewis at the weekend too. Just to look. It's scary all the thins we need.

peanutbutter thank you for dropping in. It's very kind and nice of you. And yes, it's all getting very exciting!!

kettle we got a john lewis gift lost for our wedding in June and got lots of gift vouchers too. It's great. Like spending money, but not if you know what I mean. Also, my sister got married and had an oops pregnancy in the run up. She was about 5months pregnant at her wedding and was really showing. She had to have her dress completely altered with extra panels put in and all sorts. But she looked amazing and had her little girl 4 weeks ago. So it is all just wonderful.

So, all going well for me. Feel so much better. The 9 week point has been a really turning point for me. Still tired out but no gagging or retching and only mild occasional nausea now. It feels amazing!!!! And now I feel like I can start to enjoy being pregnant. Huge fingers crossed for the rest of you that you start to feel better soon. I don't think I realised just how bad I felt until now when I feel almost normal again.

Butterpuff · 28/07/2014 10:14

Foscar so glad to hear that your starting to feel some improvement and at 9 weeks is way earlier than my doctor was predicting with her 16 weeks!!! Hope for us all Smile, also hope the improvement sticks for you.

A question for the 2nd or more time around Mum's on here, did you actually begin to enjoy being pregnant once the sickness left? Or are we simply going to have to endure pregnancy from beginning to end? So far it has been awful.

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 28/07/2014 10:15

Oooooh no id have a fright at john Lewis prices! Lots of time to shop around for deals and keep an eye on kiddicare Grin

fishfingerSarnies · 28/07/2014 10:21

Feeling so sick I could scream forgot how bloody miserable the first bit is, and how much I hate pregnancy, don't get how some people love it. Feeing very grumpy and not at all excited which is terrible because I know how lucky I am to be pregnant just generally grumpy and miserable today. And still haven't Contacted Gp or hospital about booking in appointments etc why can't I motivate myself about this baby?

Sorry rant over. Happy Monday everyone wishing you all sick free day

FoscarC · 28/07/2014 10:22

mitherofaninsomniac I'd have to agree. The only reason we are looking in john Lewis is that we have loads of vouchers for there. And thought it'd be a nice way to spend them. But am reluctant as things are a lot cheaper elsewhere. May get a cot from them as they do some cheaper ones. Although with prams and things they do price match.
