slobbing out on the sofa and dh kindly told me that my bump looks bigger than it did at full term last time - oops

bouncesky · 23/07/2014 21:02

Been away with work for a few days and have just seen how busy the thread has got! Fab! I'm a bit nervous as I have my private scan tomorrow afternoon, I'll be 8+2. Fingers crossed everything is okay.

smokeandglitter · 23/07/2014 21:03

Pickled I wish I could cycle, I think sitting while doing cardio would help the cramps, but I'm disabled. When my money comes in this month I might take up swimming again, I think. Foscar Yes, I really hope the second trimester is better re exercise! It's so awful not being able to as it helps my mental health as well (have lots of mh problems), though pregnancy seems to have actually stabilised it! As my psyc said, she's never seen me so well in that way! Tiredness I can deal with, but those cramps are so scary. Still, at least I'm keeping up with the yoga.

Poor Broodilicious, what a sad moment.

Bless you headless.

Got a press release afternoon tea tomorrow, hope they have decaf! Wink

smokeandglitter · 23/07/2014 21:29

And bouncesky really hope it goes well, will be thinking of you.

kettlepot · 23/07/2014 22:09

Ooh forgot to say earlier, booked first midwife appointment for 20th august... What happens in it? This is first baby so little bit clueless! Thanks :)

Dinnerfor1 · 23/07/2014 22:16

bounce good luck for tomorrow.

Is anyone else still breast feeding? I still feed dd morning and night, but today I noticed it's got incredibly painful - like feeding a newborn again. I'm guessing it's sore pregnancy boobs. I was hoping to feed dd until she's 2 (20months at the moment) but there's no way I'll be able to cope with this pain for much longer!

lavender20 · 23/07/2014 22:44

Just wanted to say hello and join the club, 5 weeks, tired out, thirsty, bit crampy at times and waking up really early every morning! Gone off chocolate but very hungry.

Haven't had chance to read through the whole thread but wanted to say hi :)

M27J5M · 24/07/2014 00:21

Good luck tomor bouncesky! Hello all newbies Smile

I'm off to TRY get sleep :/ night all x

charlieis30 · 24/07/2014 02:39

Morning everyone! Greetings from sunny Asia.
CANNOT wait to get back to the UK on the weekend. Been travelling for 3 weeks so have had to deal with all the little worries on my own. Can't wait to see the GP, hope she's nice :)
I can't believe how much worse my MS is this time. Since I've passed the point I MC'd last time and the nausea is so much worse (although no vomiting, feel pretty lucky about that!) I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.
I wasn't really doing any exercise before I got pregnant and I'm a little overweight (not much, BMI around 26 I think) that I don't think it's noticeable yet. People don't ask because they think I've just put on weight! I'm going to keep doing long walks (DH and I walk at least 40 minutes every day) so hopefully that's enough for now. Planning to go back to pilates in 2nd trim, they wouldn't take me in 1st :(

smokeandglitter · 24/07/2014 02:39

Hi lavender! Lovely to have you join us!

Realised I'm suddenly drinking a glass of milk in the evening and I usually hate milk. Yy to early mornings - this is certainly early! 02:38am. And I'm wide awake. In bed but feeling a bit nauseous. Sense of smell definitely heightened - suddenly dh being a bit hot in bed making me feel pukey. Blush

I've always said the only thing that helps me sleep is a good glass of red wine which is off the menu. 6 weeks today! Now, to get up or not to get up...

smokeandglitter · 24/07/2014 02:40

Ps. Newbies post your edd and il update the list!

MrsAmelia · 24/07/2014 02:47

Ok, it's 02:29 middle of the night and insomnia has hit me hard. It may be the heat, but I am noticing that when (no if involved) I wake up in the middle of the night to ewe, I just can't get back to sleep.

What's my next best option? Mumsnet, of course - Blush

Pintoftea & Persepolis - i.e. the early scan after a previous MMC... It was my understanding that according the NICE guidelines, or the powers-that-may-be, that we are guaranteed an early scan (i.e. viability scan) through NHS. My 8 week scan yesterday was my NHS viability scan. I didn't ask my GP, I told him he was required to write me a referral to the EPAU at my local hospital. After my D&C in May, the lovely doctor and nurses reminded me that it was my right for next pregnancy. I used to lurk on the TTC after MMC threads and many ladies utilised the same provision under NHS. Some ladies even stated that certain EPAUs will permit self-referrals, after an MMC. Did you have a D&C? If so, call the hospital where you did the procedure and speak to them for a viability scan on your new pregnancy. Be fierce... Wink

As for the private scan, I am getting mine done at the Fetal Medicine Ctre. I have to say, they have been brilliant with me so far. I'll be doing their package deal of two scans and exams (10 week viability scan & harmony test and Nuchal test with scan at 12 weeks). Proceeds/profits go to a charity for research at the Fetal Medicine Centre which is what swayed me to choose this one over the others. Another clinic I have heard positive reviews about is UDS, both are located on Harley St in London. Check out their websites. UDS is more ££, but they offer the NIFTY exam, which other clinics don't.

Stay positive and remember to take it easy Smile. Remember the mantra, "I'm pregnant today." Thanks

MrsAmelia · 24/07/2014 02:49

Blush ... I meant to "wee." Blush

MrsAmelia · 24/07/2014 03:01

Smokeandglitter you're up too? Enjoy the milk Wink.
My edd 04/03 and it's my first child.

bounce ... Good luck! Hope you get to see/hear a strong HB!

Hi lavendar ... Congrats! Thanks

Charlieis30 ... Are you a newbie at Pilates or a regular? I've not done it yet, but would love too. Do you think starting in 2nd tri is stupid or possible? Hope your flight home goes smoothly.

charlieis30 · 24/07/2014 03:11

MrsAmelia I've done it on & off for a while. I don't think there's a problem starting in the 2nd trim. I'm going to FMC on Friday next week so I'm glad to hear you've had a good experience. I was going to do the package but I'm paranoid I'm going to MC again so I didn't want to make that outlay if it's not going to be needed. I will possibly pay for it after the 12wks though (I think it's a little more expensive). DH is actually trying to get me to go private (he's not a great fan of the NHS) but it's the same hospital etc so why bother? So I figure spending a little on extra scans etc is worth it.

Rainbow555 · 24/07/2014 04:27

charlies why wouldn't they let u do Pilates in first trim?
I have been doing it for 20months or so and not told instructor yet. She does prenatal Pilates too but presume that is 2nd and 3rd trimester

mrsamelia Pilates is a good idea if you go to a prenatal one! it will help with pelvic floor and relaxing the muscles..

Sorry you are having trouble sleeping! Hope you manage to get back to sleep! I am working from home but feel so I'll
If someone does update stats my edd is 17th march :)

charlieis30 · 24/07/2014 04:38

Rainbow I think it's just a legal thing. They don't want you to sue them if you do have a MC. To be honest, I do a lot of pilates exercises anyway, which were prescribed by my chiropractor as pregnancy safe. You basically need to avoid putting too much load on your core, no twisting movements. He also told me to stop doing Planks and Superman but that pelvic tilts are fine.

notoasthere · 24/07/2014 06:27

Morning all!

This whole having to get up to pee at night business is terribly frustrating when I can't get back to sleep, or if I do sleep, have terribly vivid dreams that make me feel more tired!

No plans for today so other than entertaining ds I'm not going to be straining myself too far

kettle booking in appointments usually involve doing your height, weight and bp, blood tests for his, hep b, syphilis, iron levels and rubella last levels (if you consent to this testing), taking a medical history, asking about any family illnesses such as diabetes etc, giving you information about food, folic acid, smoking etc and answering any questions you may have

Hi Smoke

My EDD is 19th March.

Hope everyone is doing well today. My ms is still rotten, tried not taking anti-sickness tablet tuesday, big mistake!! Couldn't even keep water down...so keeping with the tablets it is then! At least I can keep food and drink down with them.

How is everyone else coping with ms?

kettlepot · 24/07/2014 06:43

Thanks toast!! I feel like such a newbie... Blush And good to know the vivid dreams aren't just me!

smokeandglitter definitely know the feeling! Knew something was up as I had to pee at 4/5 in the morning (this NEVER happened!) but I guess it's good practice, eh? Grin

smokeandglitter · 24/07/2014 06:47

Hi MrsA, yes I've been up with you all night! Felt so nauseous I had to stop looking at the screen though. Still feel not right now, but quite happy as barely had any symptoms so far. Still, with my first ever press day coming up might not be useful to be retching.

Morning all! Sorry to hear all the insomnia going round, it's awful isn't it, especially if you don't have the chance to catch up on a few minutes sleep in the day.

Good luck to those having early scans this week, keeping everything crossed. We had ours at the London Ultrasound Centre on Harley Street who were expensive but also excellent, had two there in the last pregnancy as well.

I'd agree Pilates is a great thing to try. In fact any (safe) exercise in pregnancy is good and the sooner you get into a good routine, the better. I am trying to fit at least 3 sessions a week in around DS and other family commitments but hoping to increase that in 2nd trimester when the energy returns.

We are planning on sharing the news with GP this weekend when I'll be nearly 9 weeks (EDD brought forward with conception date.

Anyone got any nice / different ideas of how to share the news??

smokeandglitter · 24/07/2014 06:51

Definitely good practice! Grin Luckily I've always been an awful sleeper, I've just never been this tired from normal life. Haha!

Will update stats again in a bit, just going to wait and see who else posts stats or if # are added. I wish you could edit posts on this forum - it would be so much easier to have a list at the start of the thread we could all refer back to... actually, I have an idea!

woodlandwanderwoman · 24/07/2014 06:53

Smoke could you please move my EDD to March 3rd? Can't work out how to do it on my mobile, would be so much easier!

smokeandglitter · 24/07/2014 07:05

Will do as soon as I edit them. Smile
