Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Stats here.

Woops. 17+3

Babysprout · 06/08/2014 14:31

WOW the thread is certainly active today! Can't keep up! shellan I think everyone is going out of there way to prove it's not an inactive thread Smile.

I'm jealous of all the flutters- I know it will happen soon enough.

I jst had my 16 week (at 15+2) appointment and midwife couldn't hear heartbeat. I am not worried - I know it's not a sure thing this early. What worries me more is her reaction that she has asked the EPU to book me in for another scan!! (remember she reacted like this last week when I had a brown discharge). I think her reactions worry me more than anything else- the EPU are going to think I am a crazy worrier!!

Minibagel · 06/08/2014 15:48

sprout it sounds like she is a bit crazy! You can change midwife quite easily by calling the advice line, you don't have to give a reason. She should know better than anyone not to frighten you but just give you another appointment next week or something by coming over to yours after her clinic.

Babysprout · 06/08/2014 15:59

minibagel that is exactly what I thought - I would have been perfectly happy with her saying - it really is still very early so how about you pop back next week and we'll try again.

Instead I've got in the back of my mind.... maybe she's worried about something she's not telling me.... silly.

We're hoping to move house fairly soon then we'll be in a different area which is a shame because the midwives at the hospital are brilliant!

Luckily I had already heard a lot of stories about heartbeat being tricky to hear at this stage so I am not panicking yet!

Saraswati · 06/08/2014 16:15

sprout she does seem overly cautious! Is she newly qualified or something? Lots of ladies on ehre said their mw didn't even try to listen as it is too early to guarantee hearing it. I hope everything is ok and I'm sure it will be!

Another sicky day over here, I'm 20 weeks on friday when will this end?!!Angry

sleepisforthetired · 06/08/2014 16:24

Babysprout My midwife couldn't find baby heartbeat at 15+3.

I posted about it, as she just rebooked a check (with Doppler) following week and I was worried but had to keep reminding myself it was early.

Round here they like to hear it via baby (not placenta) at 16 weeks. Other areas don't even bother.

Just see it as a bonus peak at baby and having been there hope you manage much better than I did with the not worrying part until they can see you!

Babysprout · 06/08/2014 16:34

Thank you sara and sleep for the support Smile.

I am definitely just thinking of it as a bonus peek. This will be our third!! Last time they did it within 24 hours of the mw requesting.

She's not new but is just back after mat leave. I do worry about her - I was talking to her about morning sickness and said in the mornings I threw up I ended up with a headache she said if it happened again to call the labour ward as they might want to put me on a drip to give me fluids...!!!!!!! I said I was sure it wasn't that bad- I was managing to eat and drink even if I had been sick.

It's lucky I'm not a panicky person!

rumisyum · 06/08/2014 17:42

Golly Sprout, good thing you're sensible & chilled, your MW might be causing a lot of unnecessary panic to other women. Hmm

As for numbers of scans, I was feeling like such a paranoid twat when my 12 week scan was the 5th look we'd had at our little one, but then two different friends told me they somehow got weekly scans until about 20 weeks. I feel supremely chillaxed now. Biscuit

I woke up today all delighted to be 17 weeks with a noticeable bump & now I just feel knackered & grumpy & fat as & can't wait to just eat a piece of cake in front of the Bake Off and take my grumpy lardy arse to bed. Mood swings are a JOY.

RPopz · 06/08/2014 18:01

Blimey sprout - is she newly qualified?? She sounds a little unsure of herself. Glad you're not letting it worry you xx

Does anyone else feel like they've just got pregnant over night?? Since Saturday morning I've felt massively pregnant and the bump is now completely obvious (aka not just too many pies!). I was quite enjoying my second trimester energy surge and now all of a sudden I feel enormous! Turning over in bed should not be an effort.... lol

RPopz · 06/08/2014 18:11

I might be having a pregnancy crisis in fact.... all my clothes look shit, I have mega baby brain which I totally thought was a made up thing Shock and my bump aches like mad! Confused

deuscat · 06/08/2014 18:13

Hi everyone

I've not posted since the first thread but I've been reading along. It's great to hear about people starting to feel movement. I can't wait for that!

Currently I still feel a bit queasy at times and I've started with indigestion so Rennies are now my friend. Other than that I get occasional back ache and still really tired most days.

I've requested to join the FB group via Jan Babies.

Bump-wise it's really obvious in fitted maternity dresses, but I mostly still just look fat in my maternity jeans and tops. I feel huge already but I know there's a long way to go yet!

17+5

rumisyum · 06/08/2014 18:30

Hello deus! Someone should sort you out re FB soon. And yeah, it's so dependent what I wear at the moment, whether I just look awkwardly fat or cutely knocked up. Hmm Major sartorial crisis-causing.

Rpopz I've been surprised at how awkward rolling over in bed has already gotten. Especially since I've found it more comfy to sleep with a pillow between my knees for a couple weeks now. Bit of a palaver!

Grumps aside, I scored one of these baby loungers (in pale wood) for seriously cheap off ebay & collected it today. All about the baby aesthetics round here. Wink

RPopz feeling totally the same. re clothes and and baby brain I'm forgetting everything and doing really silly things ... like rearranging the things in fridge door to make room for the Ace Bleach??!!! Think I'm going loopy. As for clothing it't not so much that I have nothing that fit's I still have all my fat clothes from just over a year ago when I was 9st bigger than I am now but they all fit really awfully!

In other news today my Mac Book Pro died to the point of needing it to be sent off to be fixed. I'm having a full blown breakdown over it. My life is on there and everything I use for work. Last week I had a baby brain moment combined with a clumsy in pain after my op moment I spilled 4 pints of milk over my time machine/backup drive so now have no back up so have possibly lost everything . This is the last thing I need what with being signed off and being on a ridiculously tight budget. Really struggling with how rubbish things have been over the last few weeks. Sorry to post yet another self pitying post

RPopz · 06/08/2014 19:26

Haha I've been sleeping with a pillow between my legs since day 1... but I've no idea why I started!! Definitely a necessity now though.

Camsie30 · 06/08/2014 21:10

Rums that baby lounger is awesome!!! That's one cool baby!

rumisyum · 06/08/2014 21:31

Haha Camsie we hope so! And if not, at least it's wipe clean. Wink

Oh no, sorry to hear about your laptop k8! What a pain! I hope they can rescue it for you.

What an excellent start to the Bake Off! And what a brilliant excuse to bake/eat cake every weekend for the next few weeks. Grin Pru did you mention you'd baked Swiss rolls this weekend gone in preparation? How'd you know what the first bake was going to be?! CakeCakeCake

Hah, I'm impressed, sunshine and I had a moan about the thread getting quiet, and then immediately it became busier than ever! Nice to be proved wrong sometimes.

Can't remember who suggested I could join the Facebook group - that's not an option for me as I have a slightly high-profile job, and really strict rules about use of social media, so can't take the risk of anything I've posted under this username being connected to my real name - not so much a concern about this thread, more other threads where I've posted quite sensitive stuff.

I loved bake off, last year I tried to bake along but this year lounging on the sofa with my feet up is a higher priority...

KatnissEvermean · 06/08/2014 22:02

Sprout, your midwife does seem to be very careful yore going to have the most photographed child around before it's even born!

Absolutely shattered today. Had to work late anyway, but we had the editor of a magazine come in to discuss something I'm working on, then a very important vendor came in and it was just so hectic on top of everything else. I've got to be in super early tomorrow because a TV crew is coming in too, and it's going to be another late one. Roll on Friday when normal service can resume! I've had horrible back pain this week so next week I will be taking it easy.

I tried on some maternity dresses tonight but my bump still isn't that big so I just look a bit fat.

I am another one finding it easier to keep up on Facebook, it's much easier to keep track of conversations on there but I still try and check into this thread as often as I can. It still seems busy on here to me!

I've not found as many classes as I'd like, Mad Sad

k8 I know precisely what you're going through. We call my MacBook Triggers Broom cos pretty much everything's been replaced over the last couple of months. Nightmare when you're self employed and it's the main tool of your work. One week I was out of action for three days while it was being repaired and I almost went out of my mind. One saving grace was my time capsule, I think I'd have had a breakdown without that so I really feel for you. You just feel so helpless and frustrated. I really hope it gets sorted and you've not lost everything. Thanks

Loobyloo893 · 07/08/2014 07:08

Morning ladies.

I've got my16w mw appointment this morning. Just wondering how long it takes? Trying to decide if we'll make it to DS swimming lesson afterwards.
