Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Minibagel · 05/08/2014 18:01

Great news vivi!!

MightyQuin1201 · 05/08/2014 18:29

That's brilliant Vivi! You must be so relieved! Smile

I tried to make friends with Jan Babies today, but haven't heard anything yet either- not sure who is in charge?

Really tired today and snapped at a man on the tube who pushed in front of me to get a seat and I said I needed it because I was pregnant Blush. And he asked me why I wasn't wearing a badge... (I do look pregnant today! Horizontal stripes!) I ignored him. I don't have a badge- I applied aaaages ago, but it still hasn't shown up. I hate the tube anyway.

I had a look online at pushchairs today- I've been offered a discount at Bugaboo, but they're soooo expensive!! I need to go and play with stuff in actual shops I think... What's the general consensus on what's good?

15+4

RPopz · 05/08/2014 18:37

He asked you why you didn't have a badge!? What a fucking scumbag!!!

Great news Vivi!!.Grin

cheshirem2b · 05/08/2014 18:46

Mighty I'm liking the uppababy but hoping to try some out on Thursday. I'm not a fan of bugaboo.. Genuinely don't know why but one of those things.

ViviPru · 05/08/2014 18:49

Thanks everyone! Think I'll make an appointment for after the scan to view the birthing centre that's an option here. It supposed to be fantastic...

MightyQuin1201 · 05/08/2014 18:51

I know! I thought about pulling out my maternity exemption card out, but thought I'd rather ignore him. Incidentally, the maternity exemption card was handy when I visited a bar with my work colleague in LA and I had forgotten my (mandatory) ID- I explained that as I was pregnant I wouldn't be buying alcohol anyway and it worked! Grin

MightyQuin1201 · 05/08/2014 18:57

I know what you mean Cheshire. I was that interested in them but now I feel I should take a proper look with the discount offer.

MightyQuin1201 · 05/08/2014 18:59

*wasn't that interested. Sorry, tired.

LadyCottington · 05/08/2014 19:39

The only bugaboo I like the look of is the Bee. I was interested in the chameleon but I think its a bit chunky looking. I'm really short and I'm worried the pram is going to be bigger than me!

I think I'll just end up going to the scan alone. Im a bit annoyed at DH to be honest, we've had the date since my 12 week scan so he has had plenty of time to arrange cover (he can't just leave, legally someone has to be there). We both don't have any close family in the country and no close friends where we are either! I'll see if he wants a private scan later on but at the moment I'm a bit Hmm

sunshineandbiscuits · 05/08/2014 21:57

Mighty I got my Baby on Board badge at a tube ticket office, just ask for one. That guy was still being totally unreasonable though.

It's gone very quiet on this thread. Has everyone gone over to fb? I'm not much of a fb user to be honest so will be sticking around here.

Weirdly not feeling at all good this week. I've started feeling really sick and tired again. Might be in part because I'm fighting off a cold, but I think there might also be a massive growth spurt going on. Anyone else had this around the 18 week mark?

17+6

Sunshine & Mads I had my first real ms this week so think its a definite growth spurt! I'm 18+5 today. Not been sick since yesterday and felt ok today but tired.
Hope you both feel better soon!

HenriettaTurkey · 05/08/2014 22:20

Wow: how d'ya get a discount at bugaboo?

sunshine it's true this thread is very quiet now - plus sometimes there are references to things which don't make sense if you're not also on Facebook.

It's a shame really, I was on an antenatal thread last year (that pregnancy ended in miscarriage) and that one was much more active at this stage.

ViviPru · 06/08/2014 06:21

Mad thanks for that, very interesting indeed. My EDD has been brought forward 6 days from my own LMP/ov date calculations, also I'm slightly anxious about the prospect of induction. On here and as far as friends and family are concerned I'm sticking with my dates. I can envisage myself in a scenario much like you describe. So it's interesting/reassuring to hear that you refused induction and it all turned out as it did.

Saraswati · 06/08/2014 06:38

Morning - so tired after a crappy nights sleep, 20 week scan 1 week today and starting to feel pretty anxious. I'm convincing myself the baby isn't moving as much, it's still moving though, and I know at this stage it is pointless worrying about a pattern of movement but I can't help myself! Bought 2 babygrows yesterday to try and feel more excited about the baby instead of just abject terror about something going wrong!

sunshine I've had ms throughout but had a few bad days around 18 weeks with stretchy pain too, must be a growth spurt. Stretchy pains have died down last few days so my skin must be adjusting to my new (wide) girth!

19+5 can't believe I'm almost halfway already!

rumisyum · 06/08/2014 06:55

Morning all! 17 weeks today! Woot! Starting to feel surprised at how big the belly seems every morning when I get up (though I know I ain't seen nothing yet!)

Ah, interesting Mad. This is why I refused to let them change my EDD at my 12 week scan. While it would be nice to be 17+5 today, I figured it wouldn't be worth the hassle coming out the far end. It helped that I'd had a private scan done by a consultant in that hospital about 10 days earlier, so the sonographer was happy enough to go with his dates, which he'd kept in line with my dates. But yes, you can resist induction. Much as I hate interventions, I personally wouldn't go much past the 2 weeks overdue guidelines, because there is apparently good evidence that babies do worse if they do "overcook" so to speak, but it's probably worth sticking to those 2 or so weeks by your own calculated dates if you're certain.

Mind you, I say all that and we'll probably all have Christmas/New Year babies & all this worry will be for nothing. Wink

Saras I'm sure baby's fine! But I know what you mean - now that I've started to feel little wriggles, I do start to poke & chat to him/her a bit if it gets to evening & I haven't managed to feel anything much all day. DH talking into my belly always seems to stir up a response. Smile (Another reason to think I'm having a little girl - already SUCH a daddy's girl, by the feel of that. Wink )

Lady that's really annoying. I was peeved with my DH cause he did the same thing to me last week - suddenly announced he couldn't make it due to work after knowing the date for weeks, but I managed to get the date of mine changed, & it's been brought forward a week! So I've got it at 18+6 instead of 19+6, which has worked out nicely for me.

Oh man, do I have another bout of growth spurt-induced misery to look forward to next week? Nice...

Sara I kept meaning to ask you when your 20wk scan is as I think you were one of the few that had 12wk before me. Sorry to hear you didn't sleep well. I was up at the crack of sparrows unusually for me, but having been lying here for the last hour or so I've realised I can actually feel definite movement for the first time rather than the ill-defined flutters! So lovely and exciting. I'm sure Jesus is fine, just chilling out.

When's everyone else's 20wk scan? Is mine first? (This Friday 8th)
