Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Stats here.

I know what you mean about obem. I think it's because it's edited. In earlier stages women tend to be a lot more mobile. If there are issues with hearing the baby's heartbeat they will get you on your back, I think that's one of the main reasons for it appearing so much on the show.

Don't worry though, it has no bearing on you getting the birth you want. Think positive :)

15+4 (well it IS nearly midnight...!)

Camsie30 · 23/07/2014 23:10

What a busy day on here!! Loving all the name chat. I think I have mine but the two names are characters from a fairly well known tv show, which is purely coincidence, but I don't want people to think that's who the baby is named after!!

One of my amazing colleagues gave me a little baby bath thermometer today, and has offered me a Stokke crib/cot/bed for £40! She bought it from her local sell and swap group, to sell in eBay, but instead asked if I would like it. They are £400!! I'm so moved by her kindness and bloody excited to have such a gorgeous cot!!

Feeling incredibly blessed today for so many reasons

15 weeks!!!

Morning all!! 17 weeks today! Yay!!

Saraswati · 24/07/2014 05:54

Morning all,

I miss one day and you've chatted loads- I can't keep up!!

I had a lovely birthday just me and DH yesterday. We went to london, went to the Matisse exhibition at the Tate then for a lovely afternoon tea at this 1920s place. Even snuck into mothercare on oxford street and had a look at the joolz I want. DH loves it too so we are going to order it after our 20 week scan. I managed to walk around London all day, it was so hot but I wasn't sick all day even though I was knackered. I feel quite proud of myself!! Can't be bothered with work today though, I had to get up at 4am for a loo trip and haven't gone back to sleep yet :(

I got a seat on a packed train without my baby on board badge so I must be looking pretty preggo now hahaha

17+6 today!

Bohemond · 24/07/2014 06:16

Hi ladies,
Also signing back in - lost the thread for a while!
Glad to hear all is well with the Januarys
Update from me:

  • 12 week scan all fine and updated by a week so I am a bit further on than I thought.
  • Downs Risk has come back as 1:1300 which is not bad considering the unadjusted age risk for me at 42 is 1:64. Am considering having a harmony test to give me just a little bit more confidence.
  • Have bought first maternity clothes (a couple of tops from New Look; mostly to accommodate enhanced boobage which, at 34B, is massive for me!). Have found the M&S soft touch silky bras to be very comfortable.
  • Energy is back and sickness gone so am properly back in gym, on bike etc which is a relief
  • Still cannot sleep
  • No one apart from DP and gym trainer knows. Am telling my friends this evening and my parents this weekend (the latter will fall over I am sure)
14+6
Keepontrudging · 24/07/2014 06:43

Hey all I am 16 weeks today! Will I find out the gender today!? Doubt it... But I can dream :)

I think most women labour on their back due to pain relief?

KateTheHuman · 24/07/2014 06:50

Happy belated birthday sara! Glad you had a good time!!

Welcome back Bohemond. Congrats on your scan!!

Morning keep! I hope you do find out the gender!

cheshirem2b · 24/07/2014 07:34

Morning ladies!

After a full day in work yesterday I was on call last night. Started Ok and did one case between 9-10.30pm. Went home to bed to be called out at 1-2.30am (?@#$?!) & supposed to do another full day today in work again. I'm shattered! I was starting to think my decision to come off rota in Sept was too early but not now!
In other news 17w today!

ViviPru · 24/07/2014 07:47

Camsie what a result on the donated stuff! I'm similar with names, I've not watched any if the cult boxset series so will no doubt choose a name that's the same as some lead character and everyone will assume that's why!

Happy belated birthday Sara Cake

Yes, I didn't think about the pain relief aspect, Keep, even so there seems to be a high proportion, but I guess they err towards featuring the more complex perilous births so pain relief will feature more. I don't think if get bored watching an hour of straightforward births though!

Behemond hello! That bra sounds worth checking out.

And finally Keep hoping for a less stressful day for you today, hope you get that call soon Thanks

Camsie30 · 24/07/2014 07:48

I just said my baby's name out loud in the shower then burst into tears!!! Guess that's the one then.
Hope everyone stays cool in the heat today xx

15 + 1

ViviPru · 24/07/2014 07:49

Oh and 17 weeks today too Grin

Size of a Pocket Gopher apparently...

Keepontrudging · 24/07/2014 07:55

Thanks vivi. I wanted water birth and ended up 10 days over, being induced and very drug under the sun haha! So always good to keep an open mind... But they should show more of the active/ straightforward births so women are prepared that all can go very smoothly and lovely too. I know a few who have had good births - one even enjoyed it!

Keepontrudging · 24/07/2014 08:12

I must say although my birth wasn't wonderful with flo, I loved the epidural. Didn't feel a things once that beauty was in :) and managed to snooze on and off after being in and out of labour for days.

KateTheHuman · 24/07/2014 08:21

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! That pocket gopher is awesome!!! Thanks Vivi!!!

ViviPru · 24/07/2014 08:59

I was wondering if we could add a book/DVD/download recommendation list somewhere, maybe tag it on our stats spreadsheet? Or an editable document in the FB group... (although perhaps not ideal as not everyone on here is on there)

People keep making brilliant suggestions but sometimes if you're on your phone or otherwise engaged you can't always follow them up right away then they get lost in our massive backlog of threads... then you think oh what was that book such and such recommended and you can't find it.

What does everyone think??

Wow every time I come on here there is so much to catch up on !

Just got a couple of prenatal fitness DVDs in the post so I'll give em a bash and see how I get on. On today's agenda : new trousers- been living in stretchy skirts with the hot weather but my work clothes options are getting a bit limited. Most annoyingly I still don't look pregnant- just a bit chubby round the middle !

Thanks for the laughs mummyk8 ....Isaac is tricky territory. There was a kid at school whose mates nicknamed him Isaac, just because his surname was Hunt, and if you say it really fast......

Saraswati · 24/07/2014 09:40

ahahaha the gopher!!

I really want to know mummy's surname now :) I'm very lucky that DH has a neutral surname, my maiden name is a bit of a minefield name.

Love the idea of a reading list, I research everything to death so pregnancy has been a wonderful new project for me Grin I'm not a technical whizz though, could we add a new spreadsheet or worksheet to our existing stats? I never use google docs so not sure how you would do that.

Oh Mad that sounds beautiful, just made me all teary :)

I could feel the baby from the outside again this morning, not that I could feel it moving but I think I felt its back again. It was kind of curled up on one side of my tummy and I could feel a hard lump. I called to DH but it had moved by the time he got to me! He's desperate to feel some kicks from the outside but I'm still just feeling flutters rather than kicks so I think it'll be a little while before he can feel it too.

mummyk8 · 24/07/2014 09:50

ilovelamp78 Bless him.

For the first time in weeks and weeks I wasn't up and down to the bathroom 8 times in the night. Only twice resulting in me getting an amazing 7hrs straight at one point. Hope this is down to my body needing to rest and repair after the cervical suture and not some sort of bad sign... or maybe it's normal to not need to pee so much once your 16+ weeks? Ug wish I could stop worrying at every little thing! I'm still in bed DS is still asleep, it's his first day of summer holidays before he's off to secondary school in september. Oh gosh that makes me feel old.

Saraswati · 24/07/2014 10:47

mummy thanks for the message ;) I don't get up half as much anymore to go to the loo, my uterus has definitely moved up more, its just below my beely button now, so I'm guessing its taken the pressure off my bladder. Don't worry, I read somewhere this is normal and then the baby gets bigger and you start peeing all the time again!!

sleepisforthetired · 24/07/2014 10:49

Just checking in. All fine this at this mornings check. Found baby this time. 155 bpm :)

mummyk8 · 24/07/2014 11:23
