Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Stats here.

HAHAHAHAHAHA OMG that is HILARIOUS!

What a moment for such a realisation, tho - how did no one point it out before? Good thinking on the anaesthetist's part!

I don't get it. Hmm But it has reminded me to join fb group. I've added jan babies, do I need to do anything else?

rumisyum · 23/07/2014 17:50

The cuteness kills me.

HAHAHAHA!!! Oh man that was a close call mummyk8 I can't believe it hadn't occurred to you!

In very similar vein (only just occurred to me how similar our names are mummyk8 ) DH and I met online and emailed before we met. His name is the male version of my name, he uses the shortened version. The first time he emailed me I was like WTF is your obscene email address all about??? It was [email protected]. It had never occurred to him that might be a bit dodgy...

(Apologies to non-FB groupers to whom that will make no sense)

RPopz · 23/07/2014 18:00

OMG K8! That is fudging hilarious haha! Your son must thank that anaesthatist every day Wink.

Missed loads on here today... stoopid work. I'm a bit head in the sand about maternity finances too. The plan was to just save my ass off as soon as all the baby stuff is paid for and hope for the best! Pretty sure last time I checked we didn't qualify for tax credits. Need to sit down and have a chat with Mr P about budgetting I think... its usually me paying for everything!!

16 week app tomorrow. Can't believe it. I remember writing it in my diary at my booking app (week 5/6?) and thinking how far away it seemed and wondering if I'd even make it there... Time seems to be speeding by now though! Hope I get to hear the heartbeat or it won't be worth going haha x

16+4

RPopz · 23/07/2014 18:01

Need to check out that website Viv! All the ones I've been on so far are a bit lame.... we're good for girl names but boys are a bit sketchy. Probably why I think it's a boy!!

RPopz · 23/07/2014 18:02

x post.... Viv!! That is brill!! Poor bloke Grin

mummyk8 · 23/07/2014 18:17

Not to sure why I hadn't noticed what an unfortunate name choice it was before. We have quite a few unthought out names in our family - an uncle called Paul H another uncle with middle name Drew and a cousin with the middle name Carrie. In then end he just looked like a Jacob from the moment he was born so it all worked out in the end.

ViviPru · 23/07/2014 18:23

God it's a minefield isn't it, mummyk8 !!! I think the only one that's questionable with our surname is DHs, and little were his parents to know in 1980 that firstnamesurname would become commonplace in communications and that 'ur' would come to be an abbreviation for 'your'... Confused

I reckon 'Ophelia' might be out of bounds for us both though!!!!

RPopz it's a good site isn't it. Typical DH; there's me protesting that there's no baby name I haven't considered and no website I've not visited then he finds that one!!

LadyCottington · 23/07/2014 18:32

We haven't really started talking about names yet, other than me pestering DH to see if he wants an Arabic name (he's half Iraqi). I don't think he's too bothered, but did mention his late Grandmother's name Salima as a possible middle name. I think it might be a nice compromise. My short list for girls is Nimah (blessed in Arabic), Ivy and Clara (Dr Who fan). I've got nothing for boys. We are finding out so I'm hoping for a girl!

I'm struggling in the heat today. Work is lovely and air-conditioned, and our flat is roasting hot. I swear the oldies surrounding us have their heating on 24/7.

rumisyum · 23/07/2014 18:34

Haha Pru! Naming is really a minefield sometimes. But yes, Ophelia would be a terrible choice for you guys. Grin

Enjoy your appt tomorrow Rpopz. Mine is next week - can't wait!

Now I really have to get off the internet. Had the concentration of a gnat to do anything much useful today, but I'll get square eyes if I keep this up.

Hahahahaha mummyk8. Just giggled at Isaac!!

KateTheHuman · 23/07/2014 19:01

Ooh it's Wednesday! Doppler time!

ViviPru · 23/07/2014 19:03

Ooo Rum that Juju shop is niiiiice....

I like Salima Lady

In further adventures of name faux-pas, I'm seriously considering a name which would produce the initials 'FML'. Would that be a total no-no for any of you? I'm not that fussed, I don't consider myself or my peers to be especially down with the kids and their contemporary acronyms and how often do all three initials get used anyway? I don't think DH or our families have even heard of it. I told some friends though and they were like NO WAY NEVER....

RPopz · 23/07/2014 19:08

I wouldn't be put off it for that reason Viv DH would be though... he thinks very deeply into these things haha. He has the same initials as Winnie the Pooh Smile

I met someone called Polly today... and momentarily thought what an adorable name it would be... Damn silly surname!!

ViviPru · 23/07/2014 19:23

Haha! Sounds like a character from a west end musical!

Keepontrudging · 23/07/2014 19:38

Lol rpopz! Awesome name! Do it!
Mmm vivi... I dunno...

Keepontrudging · 23/07/2014 19:50

Mummy k8 that is class!!!

Mini- do child tax credits take into account your outgoings? I thought it was income focused primarily - expenditure is just them being nosey bastards...?! No? If so that is really bad! I don't work anymoren as I like to be at home with Flo. Scott does and we get some tax credits (not much) I am happy to get all the help we can as I have paid into this system since I was 14!

(I realise I am lucky to have choice as to wether I work, but we have made sacrifices; we don't go abroad/we rent at the moment / we stay with family for holidays/ we shop at lidl etc... We basically live rather sensibly ! But I am happy as It is the choice I made to be a sahm for a bit)

I have mates who have to work to keep up with a lifestyle they are acquired too. Some have to as they are sole earner. I do feel fortunate I have a choice. I know many women love to work to get a break too!
I did work briefly when flo was about 10 months up until recently (p/t) but it wasn't worth the hassle with child care/ missing Florence. Now I am pregnant again too!
I plan to be a sahm until kiddies are at school then go I to teaching/ probation work.
Scott's wages are ok though thankfully. When I go back to work we can be less frugal! I try to be careful... But I am bad with baby clothes... -and my own

Signing in ladies, been keeping an eye out but been so lazy in this heat to post much...

Updates from me

1)First seraphine dresses arrived- in love with them already and cheered me up as they hide the excess fat i have put on too!

  1. Joined an antenatal pilates class, so easy but so nice to chat to mums to be face to face

  2. Midwife appt tmw for heartbeat- really really nervous again now in case she can't find it! I have bought a doppler but haven't managed to find it yet myself so panicking...not much sleep for me tonight

xx

ViviPru · 23/07/2014 21:59

Hi J200 hope appointment goes well tomorrow.

Boring OBEM tonight. How come the births don't represent anything I've read/been advised??? All on their backs, immobile, pushing for England...

Is active birth/natural positioning/no over-forced pushing just stuff of fantasy?

sleepisforthetired · 23/07/2014 22:04

J200 I'm back at midwife to check heartbeat tomorrow also - they heard the placenta and baby moving but could still build a house with the number of bricks I have s*it in the last week!

j200 · 23/07/2014 22:20

Agree on OBEM, where are the hypnobirths on the balls?!

Good luck sleep, I can imagine how you must feel but at least they heard baby moving

Night all x
