Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

Nancy hope you had a reasonable night in the end.

Kiwi, those painkiller suppositories are THE BUSINESS (never thought I'd be raving about suppositories on MN). I had a second degree tear both times, and felt (relatively) so much better this time..

Plateofcrumbs · 03/08/2014 09:27

Well I'm glad I now know what that was - by the point they were giving me the suppository I'd stopped asking questions! Blush

mupperoon · 03/08/2014 10:32

Thanks - may add "please stick suppository where the sun don't shine" to the birth plan! Smile

BlueC2 · 03/08/2014 13:53

Thanks for the chocolate parcels ladies :) DH has been out to stock up today! I'm also feeling bit better, think everything just caught up with me last night. But I had an early night with DD (we actually made it upstairs now it's finally a bit cooler-so nice to be in my bed and not on the sofa!) Good job I did go to bed early though as DD awake and grumpy at 5.30am so we ended up back on the sofa to avoid waking DH though I did manage to feed her lying down and drift off to sleep again.

It's a good job we love these little bundles as DD managed to puke right down my cleavage inside my top this morning-good shot but urgh not pleasant!

kiwi funny how we forget bits about BF from first time around-i really struggled feeding DS when super engorged but have got on with it more matter-of-factly this time around.

its yeah for good sleeping-well done to your DS

Nancy your hospital stay sounds great apart from irritating night staff and being away from DD1.

Love your comments re suppository plate and mupperoon. Not sure if I had one with DS though they may have popped it in when doing the stitches i was away with the gas and air fairies so have no idea but I said no this time as it is codeine based (I think) and I knew it would mess up my stomach since I hadn't managed to keep any food or fluids down for 12hours and didn't fancy constipation or diarrhoea as a result! The afterpains 2nd time around are not fun though!!

Just sorting through all my maternity clothes working out what I'm giving to my sister and what's going on eBay. Struggling to sort out boys newborn/0-3/3-6m etc boys clothes that we now don't need though-not sure whether I'm emotionally ready to part with them yet as I remember mini DS wearing them all!

Hope everyone is doing ok! Happy Sunday all :)

lemonpoppyseed · 03/08/2014 15:30

Nancy - hope things improved. The night we spent in the hospital was a parade of doctors, nurses, hearing specialists, social workers, bf counsellors - all quite normal for a N American birth. I was desperate to leave and get home!

NancyinCali · 03/08/2014 17:03

Nurse was forgiven a little last night as she helped us settle DD who did not want to be put down. We got a nice stretch of sleep again then.
Yes lemon it has been a little crazy with the amount of people and tests but it's also been good to have regular meals brought to me in bed and as many newborn cuddles as I like without a 2 year old leaping on me Wink.

Emilybunny · 03/08/2014 17:19

Feeling sick, tired and groggy, period and groin pain but no baby yet... I'm only 40+3 and dreading waiting until August 13th for baby if I go the full 2 weeks over :(

mupperoon · 03/08/2014 18:51

Its I meant to say thanks earlier for another positive story, 5.5 hrs on G&A is really pretty good!

Having had the words "failure to progress" going round and round my head earlier... I have just lost a bit of my plug. A bit more hopeful now that my aged body can do it on its own!

Emily this waiting sucks doesn't it, but does sound like your grumbly belly aches might be early signs of labour...?

AuntieMaggie · 03/08/2014 20:54

Just asked dp and apparently I had a suppository too... wtf did they give me that I've forgotten so much? !

ZingGoesPop · 03/08/2014 21:16

suppositories - magic!Smile

if you have a big tear or episiotomy ask GP to prescribe some asap, the MW should be able to give you a dose to take home (prescribed by a dr at the hospital) - ask well before they discharge you!

ZingGoesPop · 03/08/2014 21:19

emily & mupperon

sounds like things are starting for you two - fx it won't be long.
Smile

ZingGoesPop · 03/08/2014 21:39

Howly & lentil

Congrats to both of you, well done! Thanks Thanks

MW is coming tomorrow to weigh Elijah.
I've no idea if he's weighing more or less or the same, but had far less formula then should have due to me not bring well.
and today he happened to be unwakeable for about 6 hours!Confused

if he is not gained anything since Wednesday (or lost any) at least I will know why.
but I really really hope that through sleeping at least he conserves his energy.
fx

ZingGoesPop · 03/08/2014 21:40

*not being well

elliejjtiny · 03/08/2014 21:43

Good luck Emily and mupperoon.

I decided to wear some jeggings today. Despite having elastic round the waist, by this evening my scar was really achey. So I've changed into my pj's and will be wearing leggings for the foreseeable future. So much for the "don't worry, in 6 weeks you'll be fully recovered" speech from the registrar.

Plateofcrumbs · 03/08/2014 22:31

Good luck with the weigh-in zing - I have one tomorrow and hoping my own sleepy, formula fed baby has gained weight. He is at least learning to BF now but I feel guilty I haven't been devoted enough to the endeavour (I have probably been taking advantage of his willingness to sleep).

In episiotomy news: maybe I was lucky but only had the suppository after delivery and a couple of paracetamol the next day and the pain hasn't been too bad (although - TMI alert - combined with iron tablets, bowel movements have been a little challenging Blush ). I haven't dared look at the damage yet although MW said it was one of best jobs she has seen in a while (although I sense they might always say that, they're not exactly going to tell you your bits have been butchered are they?)

icklekid · 04/08/2014 01:12

plate 3 and a half weeks later I still haven't looked!

zing fingers crossed for weight gain and you feel better soon

ellie not had c section but dreading getting to 6 weeks and still feeling awful!

muperoon good luck

Trying dream feeding. ..should I put ds straight back in basket post feed or wait until fast asleep after?

BlueC2 · 04/08/2014 03:36

ickle I never mastered dream feeding so can't advise I'm afraid. Currently feeding DD who's just done massive poo mid feed and can hear that DS is wide awake chattering away in the next room which could indicate that he's done a poo too (recent occurance of nightine poos)

zing hope all goes well tomorrow and for you too plate

Re checking your bits 2 yrs on and hadn't checked after 2nd degree tear with DS Blush DH said it looked like something had exploded down there so I'm afraid I didn't want to see! It all seemed to function ok though post repair stitches :)

First day totally solo with both DC tomorrow-this could be interesting...

icklekid · 04/08/2014 04:21

To be honest blue I may never look as long as everything functions! Dh hasn't looked yet and no real need for him to at the moment! Dtd is still so far down the list of desires yet alone possibilities with a newborn!
Good luck going solo do you have something planned for ds to keep him busy?

BlueC2 · 04/08/2014 07:35

DD woke again at 5.30am (after I'd got back to bed at 4am!) but i managed to lie down to feed her so drifted off to sleep again- shame she's such a noisy feeder though as means I can't stay in bed as would wake DH!

We're off to the library and park this morning with the tank double pushchair so hopefully DD will nap long enough for me to choose books with DS and then again for me to push him on the swings. Hoping DS will nap this afternoon too after his little party from 3-4am!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 04/08/2014 07:55

Good luck with weigh-ins zing and plate.

Blue hope the day goes ok with two in tow, sounds like you've got a busy day ahead!

I'm too scared to look down there either...

ZingGoesPop · 04/08/2014 08:54

yes, good luck to all babies being weighed! fx!

about looking at your "wounds" - if you are not ready I suggest you do not look just yet.
things will be swollen, with stitches in odd places, blood seeping out - not a pretty sight!

when I first looked after DS1 (forceps,so big episiotomy) it really depressed me. I cried for days. the pain obviously made things worse but the sight and extent of damage & repair was just horrendous.
I can't remember if I let DH look or not, but I shouldn't have.

hth

ZingGoesPop · 04/08/2014 08:56

I should really NC...hmmm...what should it be?

AuntieMaggie · 04/08/2014 09:05

I looked down there a couple of weeks ago and again yesterday - it wasn't as scary as I thought but I have no idea what It's supposed to look like!

Emilybunny · 04/08/2014 09:16

Thanks every

Emilybunny · 04/08/2014 09:18

Ooops! Thanks everyone. Period pains and sickness stopped so nothing happening now....

I also get worried about what everything will look like afterwards/will DH still be attracted/what will our sex life be like.... This having Children business is hard!
