Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 12:07

Thanks all. I am now on floods of tears.
I called GP and I have gastritis, not gastroenteritis.
I misheard.

I need a complete dietary change and it could take weeks & months to get better....just wtf am I going to do?
I just want this horrible pain to go away.
I can't do this. and I'm not allowed tomatoes. Sad

yes, I'd recommend cranial osteopathy if baby had instrumental delivery.

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 12:10

howly - eat, sleep and drink water, if you are rested and well-nourished your body is more likely to pick up the pace and turn those pesky stop/start contractions into actual labour.
good luck!

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 01/08/2014 12:28

zing am so sorry you are poorly. big hugs your way.
ps - I would die if I had to give up tomatoes...

Howly · 01/08/2014 13:03

Still at home, contractions coning about every 8 minutes still but a few erratic ones close together followed by nothing for 20 mins! Just staying relaxed, eating malteasers and sleeping when I can! Trying not to get frustrated!

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 13:12

Howly - I had 3 small contractions 10 mins apart on Thu morning (17th July, ) , then a big one an hour later.
then 50 mins later another big one, and after 2 smaller one around 11 am I had a big contraction every 50-60 mins.
they were very irregular (I know 7th baby so not much to compare) but I just knew they were contractions.
I had another big one at 1.30 pm which made me pack my bags...Elijah was actually born within 12 hours from then!

so even though yours are irregular now you could easily be in early labour.

Howly · 01/08/2014 13:25

They are definately contractions, have to breathe through them, and been constant since 5 this morning, just waiting for the time between c

Howly · 01/08/2014 13:26

Oops, time between contractions to be less than 4 minutes then I will phone hosp! Don't want to go in too early!

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 13:49

you don't have to go in yet at all, but you should call them now while you can still talk and explain your progress.
early heads up is better so they will expect you!
especially useful if things speed up suddenly.

BlueC2 · 01/08/2014 14:04

Aargh zing that is really rubbish!! So so sorry! Have they given you advice on what dietary changes to make (other than no tomatoes?) totally what you don't need right now though! Any idea what suddenly brought it on?

ickle the osteopathy sounds like it could be worthwhile for DS given your labour etc. We've been wondering about it for DD as also good if there's a long early stage of labour and MWs have all said that probably took so long because DD was wriggling and twisting to get in position and not putting enough pressure on my cervix to make it dilate...but for DD she was in all manner of positions!

Managed a few shops with DD and DS on my own this morning...DD in car seat in the back of the trolley and DS in toddler part at the front. They both had meltdowns at different moments but we survived and I managed to buy some stuff in kiddicare, pick order up from Next and exchange some clothes in Sainsbury's- it's a retail park so just kept them in the kiddicare trolley for the duration!

mupperoon · 01/08/2014 15:14

Go Howly!

I think I may be leaking... going to lie down a while and see what happens.

Zing Hope you feel better soon.

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 15:43

Blue
you are so sweet! I wish that too.
(your post made me cry actually, how lovely you are! Thanks )

I started a thread as I don't want to clog up this one with my life falling apart woes.

And it's been 4 hours again since Elijah was fed.
I can not wake him.
and so I just can't stop crying.
it's really shit right nowSad

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 15:44

mupperon

you mean your waters gone?
ooh exciting!

put in a pad and move about. see if more liquid comes out you can't control.

NancyinCali · 01/08/2014 15:48

Annabelle Jane 8lb10 born 3.59am (California time) 1st August. We're all doing great. Will add details soon, I need to stare at her some more first Grin.

Plateofcrumbs · 01/08/2014 16:08

Ooh it's all kicking off! Congratulations Nancy and hope this means the start of the action muperoon

ismarah · 01/08/2014 16:24

Congratulations Nancy our first August baby!

Good luck Howly

Commiserations Zing - not being able to eat a favourite food sucks! Being in pain sucks! Babies not behaving sucks...except when they don't suck, which also sucks!

AuntieMaggie · 01/08/2014 16:40

Argh stoopid phone - just posted but lost it!

zing hope you feel better soon. Our ligaments can take 5-6 months to return to normal after having a baby especially if we're breastfeeding so look after yourself.

Congratulations kiwi and pixie - hope your baby's weight increases and you bp is ok.

DS doesn't like the bouncer and screamed throughout my whole shower this morning :(

AuntieMaggie · 01/08/2014 16:51

Congratulations nancy too!

ickle you have my sympathy about your dh.. DP has said/done similar. I'm tempted to go out and leave him with ds for a day if it weren't unfair on ds having to go without me feeding him. I find it hard not to resent him sometimes as he gets to do what he wants and I can't even wee some days without ds screaming!

Fourlittleclones · 01/08/2014 17:37

nancy congratulations! I love the name

To all those with sleepy babies - found something that helped a bit. I snack on oat cakes when feeding in the night. Scrunching the crackly cellophane wrapper in ds's ear got a good response (startle, eyes opened , a few strong sucks) only worked for a while until he got used to the noise but at least it stimulated a let down and he got some milk.

Fourlittleclones · 01/08/2014 17:41

auntie dis doesn't like his bouncer. He doesn't like his other bouncer or his car seat. He's not impressed with the pram either. He only likes my nipple and being held with his head next to my neck . Upright. He hates being cradled in my arms. Hates the sling too .

KitKatChick · 01/08/2014 17:44

Congratulations nancy and good luck howly and mupperoon! I'm so jealous as still no sign of progress here. Seen the MW today and she did a sweep but not much happening so far. Anyway can fit in another meal out tonight so not all bad :)

Zing that sounds pretty bad, all the stress you had with feeding couldn't have helped things either. Just hoping the diet change will help quickly.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/08/2014 18:17

Congratulations pixie and nancy!

Hope all is going well, Howly and mupperoon.

Zing that sounds really awful. Hope they're able to sort something good for you.

Sophia and I are back home now. After two nights with no sleep I am utterly shattered so really hoping Sophia doesn't decide to cluster feed again tonight.

Re the birth: went to bed on Wednesday night with VERY irregular tightenings (they weren't really strong enough to be contractions). Woke at 2am or so with strong 10-minute contractions, which were down to every seven minutes an hour later. I called the birthing centre at 4am and made them agree that I could come in, though they didn't have a room ready for me yet so had to do my checks in triage.

So at 4:55am, when they did the checks, I was fully effaced but only 1-2cm dilated. My body was in a hurry, though, so didn't give me any rest between contractions and Sophia was born 2 1/2 hours later. Again, the waters broke just before birth - they popped and then I needed to start pushing. I think I pushed for maybe 5 minutes.

Ended up with a 2nd degree tear because the wee girl decided to be born with her hand up by her face. But all in all it was a good experience and the midwife was amazing and just left me in complete control. She didn't tell me when I was allowed to push or anything like that, just let me listen to my body and do what I wanted/needed to do. Only used gas and air for the stitches and the (really wonderful, it turns out) suppository.

So glad they were very happy for me to stay the night, even though Sophia was born early in the morning. I was so, so tired and moving was difficult. And wow, after pains the second time around are awful!

Sophia decided to cluster feed from 11pm Thursday till this morning, so the MW and I ended up giving her some formula early this morning to try to give me a break. It worked sort of: she didn't give me a break, but after one more feed from me she settled for the next couple of hours. At least she has a great latch and feeds well!

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 19:05

Nancy

Fantastic news! Congratulations!

(I do like the idea of a 2-week younger girlfriend for Elijah, when they are, say 16...Grin )

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 19:16

Kiwi - you've done brilliantly.
glad it went well and that she feeds well.

I think Elijah is on the right track, better latch, lots of wee and some poo as well, right colour and all.
the sleepiness still bothers me, but if he's put on more weight by Monday I might stop worrying.

I have to type his name as the phone doesn't recognise it yet, aawww!Smile

mupperoon · 01/08/2014 20:31

Congratulations Nancy!

Zing I do feel for you, the last thing you need is a complete change of diet!

I think I got excited over nothing re: leakage - must have been a lot of watery discharge. Since we have to be monitored at triage again tomorrow I'll ask them to have a look. Very disappointing. Almost wish I'd caved in and taken the induction on Wednesday.

I am really sick of how difficult it is to step into a pair of knickers without wobbling gracelessly round the room like a Weeble.

Also sick of family telling me how enormous I am, despite me making it clear that I do NOT appreciate such thoughtful commentary. I am the right size for my EDD dammit.

elliejjtiny · 01/08/2014 21:48

Today has been one of those days when I have been almost constantly feeding and changing nappies. If I'm not feeding DS4 or DS5 I've been dealing with "Mummy, I'm hungry/thirsty" from the older 3. I'm so tired and being a mum of 5 is so hard. And yet I cried when I discovered that DS5 is now growing out of his newborn clothes. He feels so big in my arms now although at 9lb 2oz he is still 3lb smaller than my cousin's baby was at birth! I felt the first hint of broodiness the other day which means I am officially insane and it's a good job DH has had the snip. My back and arms ache from carrying DS4 around after 6 weeks of not picking him up and there is a crunchy achey feeling somewhere in my pelvis if that makes sense. DH has invited his friend, wife and their kids round tomorrow and I know he'll go off with his friend leaving me to entertain the wife and children who I've never met before. I'm very tempted to leave them to it and spend the day in bed with DS5 but now he is 7 weeks old it's probably a bit rude to do that during the day. I haven't decided whether to do extra cleaning or not bother yet.

Nancy, Kiwi and Pixie congratulations on your babies. Is it just 4 of our ladies still pregnant now? Zing, that sounds rubbish, you poor thing.
